Ordered items from Walmart two years ago at Christmas time and did not have one problem but I was in Houston and dealing with another location. Of course i have issues with my local store. We place our order after dropping over $200 for it and it said it would take a couple of days. No problem. So today is the fourth day. I asked my fiance to check his email for any updates.... We received an email from Walmart starting they had cancelled my order. No reasons given. No department to contact. Walmart is simply convenience not my first preference. The hours they're open, make it easy to Shop. My biggest issue of late is everything I look at to possibly purchase isn't priced. Then you have to find someone to look up the price or put yourself in the line with the one cashier in the whole store so they can look up pricing for you. No pricing started a few months ago so because of convenience it used to be a regular stop now I go maybe once a month instead of two or three times a week. Make sure before you purchase these they don't ship from China!! Walmart states they sell these but they do not tell you they are shipped from China! This is the second pair I have bought from Walmart "online" and I don't get them. Here I go again most likely asking for my money back. I shop here for basic essentials and dog supplies (treats/toys/vitamins/shampoo). A lot has changed but it's not just Walmart, many stores now feature locked cabinets for certain items which requires the customer to wait patiently for a staff member to stop by for assistance. I personally don't mind as shoplifting has gotten out of hand. That said, the overall experience can be hit or miss depending on the day and time you stop by. This location is pretty well stocked. I'm usually in and out within 20-30 minutes (I tend to walk most aisles) and don't really have a long wait time to check-out. read more

Great location with plenty of parking (unlike California Walmart stores), this place is huge with great selections and very organize! Continued decline in customer service at this store makes it painful to do business here. Today I went into this store mid-afternoon around 3:30p to return a purchase. As I approached the customer service desk, I was stopped by an associate named Gladis, waving her arms and telling me they were closed. There were still five people in line and someone providing service at the register. When I asked what she meant by closed for an obviously open store in the middle of the afternoon, the lady at the return register (Madora) announced she was the manager. She said she needed to go work the central registers and with short staffed so she had to close customer service. I called Walmart corporate customer service in order to file a complaint. They took my information and advised me to return to the store anytime between 8:00 and 5:00 p.m. If I was refused service for a return I was instructed call back and customer service would call the store directly and get a manager to help me on the spot. I asked if I could do that right then and they said yes. So I did. ;-) When I went back into the store about 45 minutes later, I was stopped at the door by someone named Chester, who advised me he thought the return center was closed. Sure enough the customer service area was dark and mostly unattended except for one person processing return merchandise out to the shelves. So I whipped out my phone and made that call. While waiting on the phone Gladis came back over to me and reminded me that customer service was closed. I advised her that I was on the phone with Walmart corporate fixing that problem. At that point she went over and found Madora. The customer service representative on the phone couldn't believe this was happening in the middle of the afternoon. Madora said that there must have been a misunderstanding when I was turned away earlier that she would have helped me. I guess all that arm flailing by Gladis was actually welcoming me. :-) What's saddest about all this Is that a several elderly people who could barely walk come in to make their returns and go away discouraged. I tried to tell them that I was about to change things. Luckily one gentleman hung around and Madora agreed to help him, too. The store is poorly managed and staff freely flaunt corporate policy in their dealings with customers. Team leads like Madora close services on a whim. Use at your convenience with a warning that any expected service might not go well if they decide to be closed that day. Not recommended. read more

I was in line for a return and patiently waiting my turn when one of the employees wraps up and there's an opening for the next person in line. Now, there is a sign that says to please wait until called, however the next person (a woman with two kids) goes ahead and heads up to the employee. The other employee wraps up and a man goes ahead and steps forward. Now, neither of these people were called, but only the woman was admonished by an employee for not waiting to be called. I understand that there is a request to wait, but if the rules aren't enforced for everyone, don't admonish some people and not others. Tone played a big role in this, but again, if rules exist, they should be applied to everyone. I generally try to avoid shopping at Walmart for many reasons, and it looks like this is a good decision. read more

7/1/25 I never go into Wal Mart ever, today I went into the 290 store looking for a refurbished iPhone, looking for an iPad and numerous other things. I was there for 30+ minutes. Frustrated and angry I was leaving. I ran into a gentleman who was moving a large cart full of electronic merchandise and I asked him for iPhones or some help. MARC proceeded to push his things aside and help me make a decision on what I needed to do. We talked at length and HE WAS SO AMAZING WITH HIS KNOWLEDGE AND TRYING TO HELP ME WITH MY DILEMMA. Marc flys with the eagles. Unfortunately, this poor store is not supplied with adequate merchandise - actually very poorly stocked. I would have purchased an iPad and iPhone from Marc, had there been one. Come on Walmart this store needs help. I am so grateful for Marc pointi me in the right direction. He advised I go to the larger Walmart on Ben White but I had wasted so much time it was now 5:00 and anyone in Austin knows traffic is brutal. Maybe I'll try to go tomorrow. I love coming to Walmart for their plant nursery. Currently, they have a large assortment of perennials for only one dollar. Walmart has some of the same plants that Home Depot has, but for half the cost. This is why I always come here for my planting needs. The soil at Walmart is only a few cents cheaper than other places. I bought a Caroline Jessamine Vine for only $15, which I find to be a steal. Besides my planting addiction, this Walmart has some condiments and food that are more affordable than other places. Walmart carries their own brand products, which are insanely cheap. I love their hot salsa. Also, this is the only place I can find my Morning Star Farms Chorizo Crumbles. Needless to say, I enjoy coming here. read more

This may not be the largest Walmart but it has everything you need. Not too long ago this old store was renovated and looks much nicer. I was here today to purchase a small television and decided to pick up some grocery items. The produce department has the basics. I got some potatoes where some in the bin were already growing roots. The bananas and apples were fine. I then got some dried food items and just explored what products they carry versus other stores. I did find an unusual item which has tamales in a can. I tend to notice most of the food sold here is less healthy than a Whole Foods. But this is a place to do your one stop shopping from food, apparel, electronics, households, vehicle, and gardening. read more

I was told by a different location that I may return an item with the receipt to any other location. Upon arrival, I was directed to customer service. I was then told the item could not be returned because they don't do returns on those items. When I explained that I had been previously told, by the Walmart I purchased from, that I could return that specific item, I was met with shrugs and "you can talk to a manager". After speaking with the manager I was again told they would not take the return. I asked why I was referred to a manager and was rudely told "I said you can speak to a manager, not that they could help you". What a waste of time and money, that could have easily been prevented, had I been given all of this information up front. Instead I have a gift I can't use and a desire to never return. read more

Best Walmart in Austin! It is clean, fully stocked and has excellent customer service. In a time where there are supply chain issues, inventory shortages and reduced staffing, this store shines. Many of the staff are long-term employers I have gotten to know by name. There is never a time I am unable to find items in stock on my list. During the baby formula shortage, they had fully stocked shelves. I am always able to find my sizes in clothing and shoes. It's a one stop shop for fresh groceries (ground beef better than I can find anywhere), electronics, home goods, outdoor supplies, garden, beauty and pharmacy. I haven't been able to find this level of organization, supply chain and/or inventory anywhere in Austin. To top it off, there is a McDonalds inside the store that is second to none - way better food than the McDonalds in Westlake. The prices are low (lowest) and self-checkout means no waits or lines. All around I could not recommend this store more! JO'S PRO TIPS: early in the morning the store is virtually empty and you have the place to yourself. Ordering a McDonalds coffee to have while you shop is supreme. Parking is plentiful and the plants are healthy and vibrant. read more

This review is for the Auto Service Center. If I could give zero stars, I would. My son needed to get his oil changed yesterday, so I met him there at 11am to drop his car off. They told him it would be about 1.5 hours, so we left and got lunch and came back around 1pm, giving them ample time to finish the job. Apparently, the work order wasn't entered in correctly so, instead of calling him to get whatever info they needed to re-enter it, they just put his keys aside and didn't do anything. When we got back, they promised him he'd be the next car. After waiting another half hour before they pulled his car into the bay, we decided to pull around to Chick-fil-a to get drinks while we waited. When we came back, his car was out of the bay, so he went in to settle up and I left to go back to work (it was now about 2:30). When he went in, they said they couldn't change the oil because there was no dipstick, which was actually there the whole time. So 3.5 hours wasted and missed income for zero service. He ended up having to delay heading out of town for work until tomorrow in order to get the oil changed today. read more

Service was great. They had my frame and it is of very high quality. The lenses were made perfect and only took 6 days. Pick up was courteous and they adjusted the nose piece. Then they adjusted the fit on my ears. I have never had a better experience. The best thing is they were honest with me. read more

Amazing that in this day and age, a store this size, from a company this large, can have such poor customer service. Let me start out by saying I've never been a huge fan of Walmart. They are ok for small, inexpensive items but most of the things I buy there are usually poorly made. I decided to buy a TV for my bedroom. Picked out the model I wanted, but wasn't able to get any information from the person in the electronics department. Then my wife and I were struggling a little with a TV stand that was on a shelf. At least 3 Walmart employees walked by and NOT ONE even offered to help. As it turned out, after assembling the stand, the TV didn't fit it (it was the right size, but the mounting holes on the back of the set were too close together. I returned the TV with little problem the next day, but kept the stand, which is really a piece of junk, but fits the space OK. I ended up going to Best Buy and getting a larger TV as well as a sound bar for it. I was able to talk to people who knew about what they were selling and were glad to help me. read more

I have now used the app several times and I was amazed at the easy or use and the extremely prompt and courtesy delivery to my car. Large Patio Heater took me 90mins to put together didn't work due to faulty Main Controls. Called Walmart located at 5017 W Hwy 290 Austin, TX 78735 to ask for returns department contact info so I don't have to spend 90 mins putting it back in the box and then another 90mins putting a 2nd one together. The lady answering the phone would not give me her name nor did she comprehend the concept of waisting time and would not give me the contact info for their returns department so I could swap or buy the part. Then she wouldn't give me the managers email address so I could followup in that way. Not sure why she's answering phones when she clearly needs at the very least needs training. In fact she was so rude I don't think training would help and feel she should be somewhere in back where she can't come in contact with the customers. The staff was friendly. The policies and labels were not. The labeled prices were about $1.00 less for certain low priced items, than the actual prices at the register. My son's physician called in his ADHD prescription on Tuesday 2/23/21. I received a text from the Walmart pharmacy the same day indicating that they were "out of stock and that they ordered it and they will text in 1 to 2 days when ready for pick up". Four days later, I called to follow up and was told by Tia (pharmacy tech) that they don't received shipments until Monday and Tuesday and that I needed to call back and see if they will get it in or not. I asked for a partial fill until the rest came in. Was told that the law states that they couldn't do that bur for year's Walgreens and HEB have done so. I find it very frustrating and unprofessional that a pharmacy can indicate that they ordered it and it will be in but in reality it will take a 7-8 days. They don't seem to care that the patient won't be able to focus in school without his medication. I asked if they could do a store transfer but Tia seemed not to care nor even want to consider this option. At first I was impressed with this pharmacy but after a few incidents (this is not the first) they rank as poorly as Walgreens - time to find a new pharmacy and recommend to all not to use this store's pharmacy. read more

On Aug 6th I ordered 4 tires for install on the 10th. When I showed up only 3 tires had arrived at the store. They couldn't look in the system for the 4th tire, so I contacted walmart help center and they couldn't locate it either. I asked for a refund on the 11th for all 4 tires. They only issued me the refund for 3 tires. I have called 4 times to try and get my refund for the 4th tire that never arrived, but they said they were denied by the system. All in all, this was a terrible experience and I won't be shopping at Walmart again. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company for the charge. Just go to Discount tire and save yourself a headache. read more

If you want to order groceries from Walmart, then love spending time on the phone or chat, to get a refund, please go ahead. In the last seven orders, only ONE order was without missing items. Each and every time, many items are missing, and I paid for them. I have to spend hours online or on the phone to get a refund of the item, then have to go to another store to buy the missing items. What is the point of Walmart delivery? Today was the clincher, and I only ordered as my car is in the shop. The delivery driver arrived, and proceeded to drop (slam down) every bag of groceries. I had to clean up goey yogurt that was smeared all over my front porch, then had to clean up a dozen broken eggs from my kitchen counter and floor, then proceeded to clean up and/or toss about $25 worth of other groceries. Exactly one hour later, I was able to persuade the telephone agent in Pakistan (I asked where she was and she was very very pleasant), I got a refund. WHY did I purchase the yearly delivery? WHY? They give me a $10 promo code for my troubles, which does NOT make up for the time, cleaning products, trash removal, etc. Then, I very stupidly order again. Walmart either does not give their drivers all of the items, or the drivers steal. One person at Walmart actually told me that it is very common for drivers to steal groceries - happens all the time. Did I mention the time a driver took ALL of my groceries to another house? That mess cost me three hours, and the agent on the phone recommended I go door to door on foot to ask where my groceries were. I give up (for real this time). I really want a refund of that delivery subscription, but do I have four hours to waste to try to retrieve it? read more

It's clean, organized, has (in general) great customer service (many of the same employees have stayed on for a while which tells you something). I needed to restock my vitamins and a couple of supplies while I was in town so I popped into this Walmart the second day I was here. I was tickled pink to find that they had Big Red pop in a bottle in the diet version for less than $3 for a 4-pack. I don't drink a lot of pop but this one is a favorite. It's hard enough to find Diet Big Red and hard to find Big Red in a bottle so to find the Diet Big Red in a bottle was great. I was surprised that there wasn't more Big Red in local stores since the company headquarters is right there in San Antonio, an hour away. When I visit in Indiana and Michigan I find it everywhere and that's much farther away. I got myself some lavender foaming hand soap to use while I was here along with the vitamins and a bottle of plain aspirin. Sometimes I feel like I come to Walmart or Costco just to get my walking exercise in, LOL. read more

Omg I have waited 4 hours to have four tires put on, cars came and went, I actually saw two cars that were getting replacement tires and for some reason my car was the last! Walmart prices are very good however if you want to get on with your day, make sure you either get a lift back to your destination or be prepared to wait four hours and bring a book! So frustrating!
