We had a great experience with Swim Dynamo for several years and HIGHLY recommend Coach Martha and Tom. Unfortunately, the club did not handle an injury well with our daughter as she became a more advanced swimmer. Her "new" coach was more intent on the team winning than earning the trust and respect that a good coach would usually deserve. Which includes creating a welcoming culture, telling athletes to listen to their bodies and ensuring that he/she is PATIENT. We changed clubs as a result of Joey and had no problem doing so as every other coach was very happy to work with a high performance young teenager and help her get "competition ready." Coaching is a seminal component in a teenager's life and we did not feel comfortable with his attitude or interactions with the kids. Mike seems like a great CEO, but not well-informed by the coaching staff -that could be a result of the head coach who we never heard a word from. I would make sure to spend time talking to the coaches before picking Dynamo, depending on the child's age. read more

There are many things we have loved about Dynamo. My oldest is 17 and my youngest is 14. They have been in Dynamo lessons at Chamblee and then part of the club at Oakhurst for almost their entire lives. Out of the blue (or perhaps not so out of the blue because it was literally the day the Oakhurst Coach gave birth), Dynamo eliminated its high school program at Oakhurst with 3 weeks notice. No goodbye to the old coach, leading to sobbing and angry teens. The also not so best part was that they offered a 4pm practice when high school kids in this area get out at 3:45 6 miles away from the new location. Not sure if this was pregnancy discrimination or just awfulness/rudeness, but Dynamo has changed. I did try to reach out to the head coach and got a nasty note back from the Board Chair. You can't count on them to offer consistency, which I think was a hard lesson for my kids and for me since that's what they claim to sell. The City of Decatur should definitely take the Oakhurst pool back from Dynamo. read more

The dynamo swim school is a fine school but they are completely inflexible. Both my daughters have been attending their classes twice a week for several years. However, right now, during the coronavirus they wouldn't let us pause the lessons until the threat has passed. When I asked if we could pause the classes so we didn't catch or pass the virus, they just threw us out of the classes and told us we may not be able to re-enroll depending on demand for the time slots. Seems like $$ is more important than personal safety to this swim school which makes me question other things as well. read more

There was no consistent instructor and my child was never able to develop a trusting relationship with anyone there. My child who was initially nervous but excited to learn to swim was an anxious, screaming mess before and during class by the time we decided to cancel classes after about 8 months. He's no better of a swimmer after those 8 months than when he started. Now we have to figure out how to undo the damage that was done there to get him to actually learn how to swim read more

I was recently diagnosed with a Morton's Neuroma in my left foot, so no more CrossFit for the foreseeable future... But that does mean I can swim. Dynamo swimming complex is just around the corner from my office and offers a wonderful swimming facility to swim at. Hours - I have to say that usually swimming pools have no available open swim hours so they are never convenient to use. No Dynamo. They are usually open for any type of drop in 1030-3pm (330 on some days). That is a ton of time! Facility - is huge! There is a smaller indoor lessons pool (88 degrees) and an indoor competition pool (79-80 degrees) that are always open during open swim. There is also a 50-m long course pool on site that opens seasonally I believe. There are multiple locker rooms with lots of showers and lockers. I think it is a wonderful spot. Cleanliness - The pool is always clean without ever a weird taste of chemicals. The locker rooms are always clean and never cluttered with stray clothes or baskets. Speaking of baskets, I love that they offer baskets for you to place your stuff in. Makes it very accommodating to get in and out of the locker room faster! Misc - There are available pull buoys and kick boards for your to use. There are never a lot of people in the pool when I come at lunch. I have never had to share a lane - once I had the entire competition pool to myself for a whole hour! Staff is always friendly. For a pool facility, I don't know what else you are looking for! read more

I've been bringing my 4yo and 6yo here for swim lessons. Cordarro Patrick has been so amazing with my kids! He's a great balance of fun and structure. This facility is a little older, but is in great shape and the program and staff make up for it not being a "new" facility. I love bringing my kids here! Would 100% recommend Dynamo! read more

I have for the most part enjoyed using the Dynamo swim facilities as a recreational swimmer. While the building, bathrooms, and most importantly the indoor pools show their age, they are clean and functional. There is peeling paint and rusting on some metal surfaces. That doesn't really bother me. read more

This is very good unexpensive facility! I think it has been there forever! I come there twice a week, I ve got my monthly pass for $50, I think you can get it cheaper by using some promos that they run once in awhile. I wish it could be a little bit cleaner! I would give them 5 star review if they will keep this place a bit cleaner. read more

My daughter loves to swim laps here. Four stars instead of five, because it can be really hard to reach the front desk by phone; and each time we visit, the "Back in a minute"-type sign at the front desk is always there--meaning you'll have to wait a while to speak with someone. read more

Great spot for a swim and for lessons. My 7yo takes lessons here and I've seen a lot of growth in his confidence in the water. It inspired me to try it out for myself. There are 3 pools: the lesson pool (goes from 3-5ft, kept at 88°); the indoor competition pool (6-1/2 to 7ft depth, 81°), and the outdoor competition pool (open only during swim season). There are lots of lanes, the locker rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly. Only downside is that there's no privacy in the locker room (no shower curtains) but it actually keeps it cleaner. This might be my new regular swim spot. read more

My 10 month old has been going to the mixed age Dynababies lesson for about 2 months. There's one for little babies, but it's right at my baby's nap time. Miss Jackie has been great. The lessons always consist of lots of activities to learn different skills. His group had kids from 6 months to just under 3. We all do the same types of activities, but the big kids work on more advanced skills like blowing bubbles and jumping off the side. There's another class at the same time that the big kids go to once they turn 3. There's another instructor that Miss Jackie is training because she'll be leaving. Hopefully we'll continue to have the same great experience. The facility itself looks a little rundown. It looks a little warehousey, but I've never been in another swim center to compare. Dynamo used to be a great swim school, but once my son got to the point of floating and kicking, they didn't teach him any new skills for many lessons. Worse, the instructors roughhouse with the kids, which might be motivating, but in my son's case, he accidentally hit his head on the edge of the pool, raising a considerable bump. The pool is housed in a metal structure which is ventilated but not air conditioned, making it uncomfortably hot in the summer for those waiting poolside. read more

My children have been taking lessons here for years. The teachers are very hands-on. My youngest cried her first lesson, and the director actually got into the pool with her! He spoke to her all while swimming her around, and she calmed and didn't cry the next lesson. My son is a very good swimmer and is still challenged by the classes. Any small issues with/suggestions for teachers have been solved quickly. Very happy with the lessons. read more

My two boys have taken swim lessons at Dynamo in Alpharetta for the past two years. They have had great swim instruction. I am very impressed with the consistency between instructors and with the technique. My boys are 8 and 6. They are super comfortable in the water and really know their strokes. We are sad to be moving and leaving this program behind. read more

Dynamo Swim Club in Chamblee is the worst athletic facility that I have ever joined. No one answers the phone....ever. Don't believe the statements that the pools are heated. The main pool is freezing. The lesson pool, which is slightly warmer and tolerable, has very limited lap swim times. I would NOT recommend this swim club to any lap swimmers. read more
