We're kicking off the new year in search of a better pool service company than Sweetwater Pools. The subpar reviews on this app align with our disappointing experience. Here's why we don't recommend Sweetwater Pools... Inexperienced technicians - unable to answer the most basic maintenance questions. Disrespectful to property - the technicians would disassemble our pool skimmer, using the pole to mix their chemicals (that's fine!), but then not put it back together. We repeatedly asked them to put it back the way they found it to no avail. It felt lazy and disrespectful. Zero communication - really hard to get anyone to call you back to address concerns or questions. To sum it up, we never felt like Sweetwater Pools valued our business or ever tried to salvage it. Not a very good experience with Sweetwater Pools, we needed our pool cleaned after it was opened from another not so pool friendly company, we agreed on the contract, made the monthly payment, almost 2 weeks later a guy from there comes out to clean and get the pool ready for summer, he only vacuumed half the pool, and dropped 5 3" tabs in the strainer basket and then he left, his "supervisor" then came out couple hours later, said he would have everything done even if he had to come back out and vacuum again, well he left to after about an hour, sides of the pool were not cleaned, debris still on the bottom of the pool, empty chemical bottle left on the pool deck, left and never heard from him again, called Saturday, spoke with Management but since he is management North, he could do anything, Monday I called the office, told them everything that was and was not done, I was told that the pool techs report stated " the pool was cleaned, chemicals added, and the deck was cleaned up with a leaf blower" I think its pretty sad when employees tell stories to there employers to make themselves look good while making a PAYING customer look bad. Not one word of sincerity or offers to help get to the bottom of the situation, I told them to cancel my NEW account, and was told "ok, have a nice day". out XXX.xx for 5 chlorine tablets and some bottle of chemical!! read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. While Sweetwater did keep my pool clean, they are unethical and sneaky and do "bait and switch" once you give them a credit card. They send you a contract for a hefty amount, (mine was $2400 for an average sized backyard pool) but that doesn't cover opening or closing which amounts to another $800, and in fine print it says they have the right to charge you for "extra cleaning" or "extra services" and they charge your credit card without consulting you. I got at least four of these, one as high as $285!! This is in addition to the $3200 to open, close and maintain it! I asked them to please not charge me without talking to me first or sending an invoice but they continued to do so, and when I complained, their lawyer sent me a threatening email saying it was in my contract. AVOID this company unless you are okay with shelling out lots of extra money for your pool. Definitely not worth it and their sneaky way of doing business doesn't sit well with me. read more

I reached out to Sweetwater about my noisy motor because I had used them previously for repairs and they did fine. This time was different. The repair guy told me that I would need to replace the motor, but that since the waterfall motor worked fine they could attach that one to the main part of the pool instead until the repair gets done. Within 24 hours my pool water level dropped and I recorded the water coming out of the motor which had not previously been happening. When I reached out, it took over a week to find out that they would only come back if they were replacing the motor. They refused to put the motor back to how it was before. Ultimately, I paid $150 for them to diagnose the problem and create a bigger one. As my pool water has been stagnant all this time, it's going to cost me even more to get it chemically balanced. read more

We have been servicing our pool with various companies since 1998. The best company we ever had was Pools 911, but they stopped servicing our area last year. For more than TWICE their rate, we went with Sweetwater this year. BAD DECISION. Maybe its a staffing issue, but unless you like green pool surface, find somebody else. My numerous complaunts caused them to terminate our contract - thank goodness! I can and will do a better job myself. read more

If you have another option for servicing your personal pool, please go somewhere else. There is little to no customer service. They always have an excuse and it's never on them. Technicians are nice when they stay longer than 5 minutes. As long as I am there to ensure they do a thorough job it gets done. But otherwise they take the easiest fastest route to be in and out. We will NOT be renewing our contract after this summer. I have also noticed that the manager Daniel responds very differently if my husband (male) contacts them vs when I (female) do. In the time it took to write the condescending (I know how pools work, thanks) & flat out incorrect/misleading information, Sweetwater Pools could have returned one of our multiple calls so we could resolve this together. There has been 0 contact and never an offer to fix anything. I don't regret paying a certified electrician to fix our pool equipment at more reasonable rate with better quality service. I will not get into a Yelp argument with an owner that simply won't call people back. But I do want the Yelp community to know that I would not recommend using this company & we will be discontinuing service. read more

I am beyond frustrated with the level of service we have received from Sweetwater. I am writing this review after almost 2 weeks of being patient and trying to give Sweetwater the benefit of the doubt, but after 6 phone calls and being told that someone is "on the way" I'm very disappointed in the run around I've received. We have been a customer for over a year now. Our pool is brand new; completed in May 2021. They started off strong; very responsive and timely and our pool was maintained well. We pay for weekly service which amounts to $288 per month. About two weeks ago our pool started to turn yellow. I called Sweetwater to come take a look and Daniel said our pool had yellow algae growing in it and they'd be back after the weekend to treat it. A full week went by so I called Sweetwater and they said someone would call to follow up. Three days went by and I called again. I was told Damon would come out to treat the pool yesterday. Yesterday went by so I called and I was told he would be here this morning to treat our pool. No show, no follow up. I am currently looking for a reliable, professional pool service company and am disappointed in the service we've received from Sweetwater. Here is a picture of my pool this morning. read more

I called to get a quote on winterizing my pool and getting a cover. My spouse takes care of it and has for the 12 years we've owned the house. Immediately the rep on the phone says the cover is $4000 and bigins to tell me about the pool and what needs to be done. I ended the call because I have already priced the cover and installation and cover was quoted as $500 from another pool company. So I can only imagine what the quote for winterizing was going to be. Very disappointed especially after the rave reviews. The rep on the phone didn't seem to be knowledgeable herself about pools. read more

We bought our house in Decatur w/ a pool in 2007. We thought we would fill it in but gave it 2 years to see if we could maintain it. Because of Sweetwater.....5 yrs later our friends and us are still enjoying the swimming! We went to a couple of national chains who constantly tried to oversell us on chemicals. Sweetwater has always given us sound, factual info to balance the chemicals in our pool. They have closed/opened our pool and helped us out when our pump equipment was not working. I always take our water to their store off of 285/85 for testing even though there are other pool businesses closer. They run a great business and Andy, who joined the team this year is incredible! We recently bought a house with pool and continued using the previous owners pool service since we did not know anything about pools. Now we decided to do it ourselves and needed someone to teach us how. After calling a few places, Sweetwater was the only place with reasonable pricing and a willingness to accommodate our schedule. They were very nice and thorough explaining the system and how to maintain it. Daniel answered all of our questions and did not try to sell us on anything. This past weekend I completed lifeguard recertification through Sweetwater and the program they use called, Starguard. I cannot express how amazing my experience was! I was extremely nervous and explained it to the instructor 2-3 times and he continually told me that everything would be ok and to trust him. (He was right). The class atmosphere was very informative and was not meant to be stressful. They have so many classes and are the most reasonably priced! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone! read more

Daniel, of Sweetwater Residential Pool Service, worked out a good solution to our problem with a very reasonable price and excellent service. Sweetwater Pools has to be one of the most unethical employers along with AMS Pools. Both pool management companies take advantage of high school aged adolescents, offering them lifeguard jobs that sound great and promising at first, then they make them pay hundreds of dollars for training fees and uniform parts, just to pay them minimum wage in return without reimbursements. Any teen would be better off working as a bagger at a grocery store or a cashier at a fast food, without having to pay outrageous fees, and make the same income. In addition, most other jobs available for teens are year-round, while lifeguarding for these companies are only seasonal. Both companies do not support their lifeguards when it comes to rule enforcement. I worked for Sweetwater pools several years back as a teenager, and I can say that was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. For one thing, they employ high school teens as supervisors over a staff of a dozen or more lifeguards (who are also teens as well). When you have all teens given the responsibility of protecting the safety and well being of swimmers at a crowded neighborhood pool, you are setting yourself up for disaster. In addition, the safety equipment they provide is abysmal. There were facilities that did not have the necessary equipment required to perform rescues (example: one facility did not have a spineboard, which is used for extricating people with spinal injuries and unconscious persons from the pool). I informed the management about this issue, and it was never resolved. The rescue tubes were corroded and falling apart, and the first aid supplies were not well stocked. By law, the company had to provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to be in compliant with OSHA regulations. They did not have that at the faciltiy I worked at, and they authorized young teens to handle dangerous chemicals, such as chlorine. By federal law, you must be at least 18 years of age to handle dangerous chemicals (I learned this from my other lifeguard job I had). Any HOA that hires this company to provide lifeguards for their pool is setting themselves up for failure and potential lawsuits. I do not see how they can legally continue to operate. read more
