As you make your way to your seat the hostess brings you a small bowl of fried peanuts with hot tea, which is super generous. So when ppl here say the portions are HUGE, they're really not joking. We ordered the chili fried chicken, fish in hot chili oil, and the eggplant with garlic sauce and took home a full ass meal after we'd finished (over) eating. All dishes came out as we hoped/expected with both the chicken and fish providing the nummy sensation that is unique to Szechuan cuisine. We threw in the eggplant order because we wanted some veggies and something that didn't overtly threaten to numb our palettes and were very happy with that as well. Chicken was fried well and not dry at all which was a lovely experience. Fish was also flavorful and enjoyable to eat, although perhaps the least memorable of the dishes. I wouldn't NOT get any of the dishes again and might elevate the chicken as a must get if you're there for the a Szechuan experience. A coworker recommended this spot to me and I don't know why I've been sleeping on it for so long. Who would've thought there would be really good, authentic Szechuan food in downtown Hayward? Ordered takeout from here and my order was ready faster than expected. We got the spicy beef and tendon slices, cilantro beef, mapo tofu, and eggplant string beans. Chicken chow mein, pork fried rice and green beans. Everything has great flavor and well seasoned. The food came out quick and hot: They always had tea going during the meal as well as water. My only suggestions would be more chicken in the chicken chow mein (it had little to none) and use a little less oil. The food was a bit on the oily side. We had Tasty Sichuan again and we are kind of becoming regulars so I think it's time I upgrade this to a five star review. This is our go to place for Sichuan food nearby. The beef noodles are consistently good as is the 红油抄手 and 水煮鱼 which we order basically every time. A few times we ordered the stir fried cabbage as well and we often end up taking some home. We also love the roasted peanuts they give as a snack at the table. I wonder if they might sell them? They also occasionally sell preserved meats and dumplings which is cool for folks that don't want to DIY it. Next time we will have to try some other dishes to see what else is good! read more

Boiling hot fish filets is listed as $22.95 Pork blood/beef/tripe in chili soup was listed as $21.95 We also ordered a noodle dish to share, but it never showed up. We let it go because the portions were huge. That should come out to $44.9, but our check came out to $49.73, and that's not including tip. I tipped 15% because that was the amount on the screen, but now I'm thinking I shouldn't have. I was expecting beef in my soup, but it looked and tasted like ham slices, so I was very confused. Good food and good value. This is a hole in the wall small restaurant with about a dozen tables on a busy street. However, the food is very good and authentic with large portion. Customer service is adequate due to its size. The waitress is very nice and gave us some good recommendations. We were about to order something and she told us it is not good. The egg plant came out first, very tasty, love the garlic glaze, super hot temperature inside (good thing). We love this ppace so much ~ It is usually bery busy on weekday nights and all weekend. We came in on a weekday for lunch and it was reasonably busy. We ordered the cumin lamb and chicken with noodles and taro. The cumin lamb is very crispy and the chicken with noodles has so many spices in it. And while it has a bit of a small diner feel, it has very nice chopsticks, the plates are of really good quality, and even the yea comes in a fancy bronze or brass metal Asian carafe. If you want that hua jiao numbing spice, these folks have you covered with very flavorful mala dishes. We had fish in green pepper broth and pan fried pork intestines and they were both quite tasty. As for the food, surprisingly I found the honey walnut prawns with the sweet and savory flavor with fairly good amount of prawns to be the dish I enjoyed most of the trio. Following, the Szechuan chicken came in on second place with boneless fried chicken pieces with distinct peppercorn and red pepper flavor. Obviously in third place was the ribs, I didn't feel it distinguished itself, the dish didn't look like the picture, not very meaty or flavorful to be with sweet or sour. We got the sweet and sour ribs over rice for $12.95 and it was delicious! The ribs were fried to perfection and sauce was perfect. I got the spicy beef brisket noodle soup and it had the perfect amount of numbing spice. The only thing was that I wish the noodles were a bit more firm. These spicy dishes are so flavorful and go sooo well with white rice. Guaranteed you will leave satisfied and perhaps in a food coma. Anyways, I've ordered these three dishes for takeout from Tasty Szechuan a bunch of times and also dined in twice. Each time, the flavor is always great! I wouldn't say it's the best Szechuan food I've ever had, but it always satisfies my spicy food craving. And I've never had it be too salty here, which sometimes happens at other places. It's a thin line between nice and flavorful and too salty with Szechuan food since there's so many spices! Since I live close by, I do prefer getting takeout over dining in since the restaurant is small and not the nicest looking, but it is clean. I do wish they'd get rid of the white hand towels that they use and just provide napkins instead since the chili oil on dishes can get a bit messy.
