I am not one to write reviews anywhere in general. I did not even have a yelp account and had to create one for this review. But I think this one is necessary. I have been a customer here for over 3 years. The rating is based on my experience over these 3 years. Have had service from Lumin (the owner, I believe), another Asian lady, and the new Indian lady in the past couple of months. 1. Experience with Lumin: She is good, always had a good experience with her. Eyebrows, upper lips, occasional waxing. She made sure she took care - applying powder before starting the service (my preference as well, since the skin is oily and hurts more if worked on directly), rose water/aloe vera in the end. It was never rushed and my skin hardly ever felt sore or too red afterwards. I used to get my upper lips waxed since it causes less pain and she was careful the skin didn't get burnt or red or pulled too hard. Same for waxing. 2. Experience with Asian lady: Asian lady who was working with Lumin until 2021 (haven't seen her during visits in 2022) - she rushed the process at times. Decent, but not great. A lot of times did not apply some powder in the beginning or rose water in the end (eventually, I started asking explicitly). Last year during Fall 2021, when Lumin wasn't there, she did my eyebrow threading and upper lips waxing. She was usually okay, so I didn't pay much attention - but no powder in the beginning, or rose water/aloe vera gel in the end. I could feel my eyebrows too red after threading and upper lips burning and reddening after waxing and I knew something was wrong, I asked to her apply aloe vera gel and that made it burn even more. I am guessing the aloe vera had some astringent or alcoholic substance. I went home, applied ice for over 20 mins on the upper lips and eyebrows. Eyebrows felt okay in a day or so, but my upper lip was burnt horribly. It took more than a week - applying ice packs, aloe gel, not being able to go out with a burnt upper lip "moustache" (ironic that I got moustache from the process that was supposed to remove it). I do not have the pics with me anymore, but I will not forget this experience. I called the place and they offhandedly said they are sorry, can't do anything now, please apply aloe vera to soothe it. Lesson learnt: NEVER doing upper lip waxing here again, and just threading if needed and bear the pain, I guess. Also, do not ask for aloe vera gel for soothing since you do not what ingredients are present. 3. Experience with new Indian lady in 2022: After the experience with the lady mentioned above, I continued to go only because of the location and convenience for me, but got only threading done on upper lip (no more waxing). Also, I have been always careful to explicitly ask to apply powder for threading before starting and rose water if I was heading out (I will apply aloe vera gel at home, if I head home). In 2022, Lumin has been away for personal reasons I believe. The new Indian lady - horrible experience with waxing and threading. She is extremely disinterested, hardly bothers with doing things properly. Let's start with waxing, I usually use epilator at home but for few occasions, I go get waxing done. Only one occasion (and my last with this woman) when I went for waxing. I asked the lady to do full legs - what she did was patchy work with hair remaining on the back of my thighs. I had already told her multiple times to take care of a few other patches she had missed and I was honestly tired and frustrated by the end of it, just horrible work and service. Underarms - okay service. For the regular eyebrow threading , no powder in the beginning - patchy work on eyebrows and upper lips. She threads so painfully that I have more redness than what Lumin's service ever caused. No rose water offered in the end either, always have to ask. Every time I have to go to her, I question myself why didn't I call before and ask if Lumin is in on the day. Lesson learnt - call in before to check if Lumin is going to be in the day I plan to go. I have been getting threading and waxing done for more than 12 years now. Sometimes the experiences have been painful but never to the extent that my skin go mutilated or felt ripped apart. Always, well taken care of. The only reason I am still going to this place is because of convenience. Now I have decided that I will go only if Lumin is there, else postpone it. I have given this place many chances, I feel it is no more worth the stress it causes me. So, I am also considering finding a new place for threading. read more

All the 5-star reviews are well deserved. Lumin is the sweetest lady and does an excellent job EVERY time I visit her. Threading is not painless, but Lumin is as adept as she is efficient, which makes it much more bearable. I purchased the package deal, and will continue doing so. As far as facial hair removal/eyebrow shaping, Lumin offers one of the most affordable services you'll get for such high quality results. read more

Excellent technique, service, and price! Was really happy with my brow/face cleanup, which was both effective (hair pulled out at the root) and very minimally painful. The gentle, soothing rose-scented aloe at the end is a welcome finisher. Since I like to go for threading every 7-10 days, I opted for the $85 three-month unlimited brow/lip package, which is a really solid deal. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Not so good, at least not compared to what I expected based on the reviews. She was in a rush because it seemed some people she knew were bringing more customers and they were waiting for us. My brows turned out uneven and I think she forgot to complete the left brow as it turned out bushier than the right one. read more

Very nice lady. Was efficient and completely painless. But made my brows very uneven. I had a thicker and thinner brow and she made my thicker brow much more thin than my other brow. I didn't expect them to be identical but they didn't even have the same shape. One of my arches was curved and the other one was very sharp and pointy above my arch and below making my brows look very odd. read more

I'm really not sure how this place has only 5 star reviews. It makes me think they're filtered out or selected somehow. The lady totally did not listen to what I wanted and overthinned my brows! I specifically asked that she just do a clean up, and that I had had negative experiences in the past with people taking too much. The second she handed me the mirror, I was horrified. I pointed this out to her, and instead of apologizing, she said "your eyebrows are different from each other" which, while true, was NOT the main problem. By thinning them too much, she also made them wildly asymmetric in a way that's much more noticeable than before. It's immediately obvious to me and my fiancé. I will definitely not be coming back. It's also an inconvenient location with very limited parking. read more

I called earlier to make an appointment and they said they were taking walk-ins. When I went there, I had to wait for 30 minutes for a 5 minute clean up. No place to sit down just standing by the entrance. They should have better managed their process instead of telling customer to come straight and wait for such a long time. read more

Apparently this store is closing soon. I was charged full price and was not given an option to sign up for one of the packages. This meant paying $28 for threading of my eyebrows and upper lip! way too much and the service was not great. Why does the website still mention the deals if they are not available? Awful. Threading in SLU! Tucked in the Sola Salon Group on Terry & Stewart, you'll find Manita, a one-woman operation - threading, waxing, and facials. I like a clean but natural shape - which is what I told Manita. She understood EXACTLY what I meant and gave me a fantastic shape. More importantly, she would let me check the shape/arch of my eyebrow intermittently to ensure that I liked what she was doing! She was meticulous but quick. Additionally, she is reasonably priced $10 for eyebrow threading (if you prepay for a pack of 6). FYI - call ahead and make an appointment. I'll be back. read more

E-brow lounge is my go to place for eyebrows. It's reasonable, doesn't need appointments and it's painless. It's surprising how pain free Manita makes it as I had stopped threading my eyebrows 5 years ago. After I found this place, i'm back to threading and will only get it done here! I visited Seattle for business and desperately needed my eyebrows threaded. I found Manita on Yelp. Her studio is walkable from downtown and was pretty easy to find. I called and luckily Manita was free right away. Her studio is very small and private, which I loved. The waiting area is outside, so it gives a more personal feel. Manita herself was very friendly, but most importantly, her threading technique was gentle. I get my eyebrows threaded every 2-4 weeks, and Manita is one of the best. She minimizes the pain of the whole process and makes great conversation which helps distract a bit. :) I used the Yelp promotion and paid $10, very reasonable. I will be back next time to purchase the $60 for 6 eyebrow threading sessions! read more

Love it! I bought a groupon for the signature facial. Location is a little tricky as there is costruction happening and some roadblocks, but not too bad. paid parking lot right across the street. The place is a one person studio that is compact but comfortable. Quiet and soothing ambience. Manita is very personable and was very gentle with my sensitive, acne prone skin. She substituted massage for high frequency treatment, that helps with killing acne. She even gave a hand massage as my mask set. She uses dermalogica products, which suited my skin. On the whole, the experience was relaxing, and she gave her full attention to her work. I would definitely recommend her! read more

I wish I could transport Manita to where I live now so I could get my eyebrows done by her all the time! Manita has set the bar for threading services very high for me--I don't know if I can find anyone else in my area that will compare. She not only does a great job with the threading itself, but she is also super sweet, gentle and soothing and makes it easy for you to set up appointments via text. One time I forgot to bring my punchcard which was not a problem at all, she just made two punches during my next visit. I recommend saving a lot of money by getting a punchcard because you'll want to come back :) read more

I've tried plucking, waxing and sugaring before I tried threading. This is by far the best experience I've ever had in getting my eyebrows done. My whole appointment took less than 12 minutes and she was efficient! Sugaring and waxing usually make my skin break out while threading left my skin clear. It was perfect! My friend and I both got our eyebrows done here. I told her I just wanted them cleaned up and to not change the shape or make them thinner. Guess what, she did both. But she also made them uneven. I had nice big beautiful eyebrows before so I'm praying they grow back to how they were before, otherwise I'm stuck with her mess-up. read more
