We had a very shaky toilet that another plumber "fixed" 5 months prior. Mike got down to the bottom of the problem and gave me updates on what he was finding every step of the way. There were some major issues that needed to be fixed and Mike did not take any shortcuts, he was very transparent from start to finish. Our flange was rotted and Mike removed the broken flange put in a new flange set in concrete. He put in a new toilet and sealed it with silicone. The secretary took my message and said she would call back; I received no callback. At 2:00 PM an older man arrived at my home unannounced. He inspected the job for about five minutes, then handed me an invoice for $175. I told him I had not been informed there would be a charge and that their website advertises free estimates; he responded loudly and rudely and demanded payment. When I refused he threatened me -- saying I would "be sorry" if I didn't pay he kept repeating the fact that I would be sorry so what are you going to do are you going to pay me now ???? I said no I don't think I have to pay you because no fee was ever disclosed to me please call your secretary and ask her she never mentioned a fee ....but He refused I tried to reason with him but he kept on threatening me. So he continued to threaten me, and that he would report me to the town for alleged illegal construction if I didn't pay him. I said go ahead so he left. I then called the office to speak to the secretary as I am panicked I said what is going on why is he asking me to pay him and why is he threatening me ?... I said what kind of business are you running ????... this is crazy....and she said oh well I don't know what conversation you guys had .... And so why did you let him in? I said because he was on my door and I was not expecting him. I was caught off guard you never called me to tell me that he was coming and or that there was a charge so you better have a talk with him and He just threatened me . She said she would talk to him when he got back to the office. Afterwards I was completely shocked and traumatized of this whole incident and of this man ... I tried to forget about it all and move on from this but then a week later had a town inspector visit (after a complaint from this plumber); there was no construction and the inspector found nothing. I was completely shocked that he actually did call and the threat that he made was actually true. So what else is he capable of? I was thinking. What kind of a businessman goes around threatening people???... what a despicable human being I thought I have never in my life encountered somebody like him. Only then I I felt the need to warn others about him and tell my story and experience with person and this is why I'm leaving this review To help others . I called Consumer Affairs and I was told there's no license on file for him and that he also has another complaint against him I was like wow this isn't his first time doing this?... I felt so frightened and taken advantage of, especially being home alone. I reported the incident to Consumer Affairs and am considering filing a police report. I do not recommend this business. Be careful who let into your house especially if you are a woman and home alone.

I had two problems that needed to be addressed. I had a fairly new toilet that hadn't been set…read moreproperly and was moving around the floor and leaking. Also, the cold water stopped working in my shower, making the shower unusable. I lost my husband this year and am never sure about what to do when things go wrong in the house, since I never had to address those problems in the past. I called 1-Tom and they made me feel completely confident about my choice. Right from the start, I liked the fact that they answered the phone and I didn't have to keep pushing buttons to get to the right person. I was told that they stood behind all their work and they would make sure I was satisfied with the outcome. Before Alex came to my home, I received a photo of him. He was confident and friendly and I immediately felt I was in good hands. Originally it looked like it was going to be a bad situation with the toilet and that the floor might have to be torn up. Alex showed me what the problem was and I could now see why the toilet couldn't be installed correctly in the first place. Alex called his boss and discussed what needed to be done. He was able to do it without damaging the floor, which was a huge relief. I trusted that 1-Tom did the best job possible for me while avoiding major repairs. He also had some great suggestions and input on the project and location in the house, in terms of what's best to save money and simplify all the moving parts--which I really appreciated.
