My father hired Steve to replace all of his kitchen plumbing. He did a great job, so he recommended him to me and I've used him twice. My brother has also used him since. We've all been very happy. He comes when he says he will and seems to really know his stuff. He recently went beyond what I thought was the call of duty to get my heat working again. After some investigation and process of elimination, it turned out to be an electrical issue, requiring him to make sense of the huge mess of wires in my ceilings. That took a lot of patience. Honestly, I was sure he was going to say, "sorry, this is not up my alley, you need an electrician, but here's my bill for the housecall--good luck." But instead, he saw the job through, ran a new wire to my thermostat and got my heat running again. My mother's steam boiler (after about 40 years of service) finally gave out. My mother is 89 and uses a walker. His technical skills are without equal. He was able to maintain emergency heat in my mother's house to keep things stable, find a replacement boiler, install a new system (steam heating is not an easy fix) , and have things back and running in an accelerated time. But by far, his greatest attribute is that he treated my mother with compassion and integrity and always made her smile with his sense of humor. I called and left a message, knowing this is a demanding business I waited, I called a second time just to leave more detailed information. Steve picked up and quickly apologized on not getting back to me quick enough. I explained what the problem was and he wanted me to send a picture of the the pipe mainly so he could not only understand the problem but be equipped for it. The next day he called and said he had finished a job early and can run over. I was so happy with Steve, he is very professional, honest, efficient and reliable. I had called Steve because I had a broken circulator and no heat on my second floor. Steve was due to come over the weekend to fix it as I told him it was not an emergency. Steve called me that Friday morning, before I went to work, to say he could come over to fix the circulator. Steve knew I had no heat upstairs and wanted to get my heat working as the first real cold snap of winter was creeping in that Friday. Steve came, replaced my circulator and restored my heat. He also fixed my leaking kitchen faucet while he was in the home. I have used Steve for many years now, as does my mother. I always refer him to people looking for a plumber. A neighbor of mine led me to Steve, and thank goodness he did! Hot water heater broke on Wednesday night and I called Steve the next morning and he was there at 3pm, new hot water heater in hand. Steve could not be any of a nicer person, but more importantly, he was honest, patient, and exceptional at what he does. Steve Lauschas was a life saver. I called him in a panic that I had just moved in and saw water coming down the wall. He came within minutes to stop the leak. He spent time re-working the plumbing to solve the problem. He had to cut the tiles,place new copper pipe, install the faucet, fix a clothes washer connection and repair a water heater. He went a step further to have someone match the bathroom tiles needed to fix the wall and then to help me find someone to do the tile work. I was in need of a plumber for some work I needed to get done before finishing my basement. I looked on Yelp and noticed all of his good reviews so I decided to give him a call. After playing phone tag a few times we finally touched base. At his request I sent him some pictures of my burner and boiler. He called me right back and was honest with me that the type of equipment I have I should have my oil service company do the work so if there is any issues with the work it would be their liability. Apparently Steve is much sought after and unless it's an emergency it many take a day or so to hear back. However, he will get back to you and keeps your appointment time. A very important issue; Steve wants to hear about everything that you've been experiencing so that he can accurately assess the situation and make an informed evaluation. Way too many tradesmen don't take the time to listen which can overly complicate the repair and may needlessly inflate the cost. Steve is polite, neat and does what's necessary to solve the problem as efficiently as possible. We were pleased and would recommend Steve to anyone requiring plumbing services. read more

Emergency gas-smell inspection in a rental house that led to over-due water heater replacement. My request on Yelp went out on Saturday morning at eight, just as the snow started to fall. Steve called within twenty minutes, drove out to meet me at the house by ten-fifteen. The water heater needed to be replaced (I knew it was on its last legs). Steve had it done by dinner time...after a forty mile round trip in truly horrendous winter driving on the LIE to get the heater. Steve kept me and the tenant in the loop every step of the way. If it's not an emergency you will have to wait but put it in perspective: a leak is an annoyance, someone who has no heat has to come ahead of you. I had a water leak coming from a waterheater that was connected in an odd way in the back of my home. Not knowing the first thing to do when it came to situations like this, I called around. I called this company based on the reviews, and within an hour and a half - someone was at my door. These guys were quick and even had the parts necessary to fix my problem here on the spot. I highly recommend Steve. I had an issue with my Water Pressure Regulator. He had me text him pictures of the regulator in advance allowing him to purchase the correct unit prior to coming to my house. Not only did he replace the regulator, but recommended keeping the Sprinkler system separate from the regulator. It was not an emergency but did show up within 2 days of me contacting him. Because of his advice, instead of paying almost $3000 for a new water heater, we were able to add on a small tank to our existing heater so that, when the water expanded when it was heated, it went into this small overflow tank instead of going out the overflow valve.
