These items were presented in the company's response as if they were additional work, but they appear explicitly in the signed contract. I have also included an email dated Aug 20 from the project manager confirming the project was "on track for completion in 3-4 months." The project ultimately took around 6 months to complete. Additionally, the electrical work referenced in their response included an EV circuit, which is typically required for new construction and ADU projects under the 2022 California Electrical Code. This is a standard code requirement rather than a discretionary upgrade. These screenshots provide context for my experience during the project. Throughout the build I frequently had to verify measurements, coordinate ordering timelines, and raise planning questions that would normally fall under project management. The on-site crew worked hard and treated the property respectfully, and I appreciate their effort. She proceeded to start booking alternative days until I reminded her that my wife and I are both working professionals with small children and that weekends are our only available time together. This fact was clearly articulated by me during the initiall call to book the onsite appointment. Ironically, the initial employee who booked the call insisted that my wife and I should be home together. As I attempted to check our busy calendar (and narrating my steps), Wendy began repeating and mocking me about being busy; "so are eveyone else sir, so are everyone else...") and then hung up without getting a response from me! Wendy, you are the front face of the death of modern customer service/business etiquette! A contributing factor to the overall poor perception of general contractors and top of the list for creating negative revenue for your organization.

He's worked on multiple projects for us since 2001 First on a 1927 Berkeley house that needed major work due to water/rot damage, where Manuel and his team calmly brought the whole back wall and corner down to the studs and then strategically restored the framing and all the details. We replaced 15+ windows. A huge undertaking that was really just another day's work for them. We were able to feel safe and calm, because they knew exactly what they were doing. Their work was just beautiful. Recently, they have spent the last few years helping us, on-and-off, to remodel a Bay Area home with 4 sets of French doors, skylights, vaulted ceilings, electrical, heating, plumbing, a large wrap-around 600sf deck, outdoor arbors, kitchen appliances, gas, and 160 linear feet of fencing with an additional 3ft retaining wall (9ft total height). He and team were…read morefriendly and the finished appearance looked good, but unfortunately one bathroom developed a hidden moisture problem that has now required full remediation and reconstruction (thousands of dollars worth of repair) When I opened the wall, I discovered that the exterior bathroom wall had old insulation, old vapor paper, and no proper moisture management behind the new drywall. This created a condensation trap in winter that eventually led to mold inside the wall cavity and peeling paint on the surface. The other bathroom--built at the same time--did not have this issue, which is what helped us figure out that this was not a house-wide moisture problem, but instead a wall-assembly oversight specific to that remodel. To be clear: I'm not questioning their friendliness or effort, but proper bathroom remodeling requires evaluating insulation, vapor control, and the condition of exterior walls during demo, especially when replacing drywall on an exterior-facing wall. That step didn't happen here, and it ultimately created a significant expense and inconvenience down the road. I've removed my initial positive review because, while the bathrooms looked nice on day one, this kind of behind-the-wall oversight matters. I hope the company takes this as constructive feedback for future projects. Customers should make sure that insulation, vapor strategy, and exterior-wall conditions are verified when remodeling a bathroom - especially one with drywall on an outside-facing wall.
