They didn't show up to provide an estimate. They didn't have the courtesy to notify me that they could not make the appointment.

Unfortunately, after a miscommunication about part of the project, which I thought we had resolved amicably (I compensated him for the materials he had already used), he later admitted he was upset and had been purposely avoiding my follow up communication. He left the original job on Friday saying he would return the following week to finish a few remaining items. After that, I spent over a month trying to get a response, with little to no communication and no explanation for this treatment. When I finally expressed my frustration, he admitted he had intentionally been ignoring me because of the earlier misunderstanding and offered to send someone to finish the outstanding tasks, "if that's what I was upset about." That level of unprofessionalism was far more disappointing than the few remaining tasks on the project. Misunderstandings happen, but they shouldn't result in giving a customer the silent treatment and leaving a job unfinished. I cannot recommend someone who responds to conflict by avoiding communication completely.

Home Quality Remodeling - HQR May MD

This past year I hired Home Quality Remodeling to remodel my two upstairs bathrooms (the master…read morebath and guest bath). This included a complete demo of the master bath (including removing the tub and extending the shower) and partial demo of the guest bath. I was very happy and pleased with the results. From the beginning of the design phase through the final touches of the "punch list" my HQR Project manager, Ronnie Illan, was in constant contact with me. He helped me with materials questions, project timelines and even picked up some of the materials for me. From the beginning it was clear my satisfaction was his number one priority. The contractors HQR used on my project were equally friendly and easy to communicate with. Even when I made some changes in the middle of the remodel (which is bound to happen!) everyone was friendly and accommodating. In short, I was very pleased with the work HQR did and I would highly encourage others to include them when you are getting bids...I'm sure you won't be disappointed! Attached are pictures of both remodeled bathrooms. I've included pictures of the original master bath as well as the 3D rendering of the remodeled master bath BEFORE any work was done. Notice how close the new Master Bath is to the 3D rendering.

We actually met with quite a few contractors before we found Mike. Honestly, the fact that he was willing to come out on a Saturday just to work around our crazy schedules told us everything we needed to know right off the bat. From that first meeting, Mike just 'got' it. He didn't just listen; he offered real insight on how to open up the space and make it actually functional for our family while keeping the modern look we wanted. Even when the inevitable hiccups popped up, Mike always had a workaround ready. He wasn't just a guy we hired; he felt like a partner in the whole process. Our home is beautiful, and we can't recommend Mike enough if you're looking to start your own project.

David arrived at my home and spent considerable time assessing my job and discussing recommendations with me. He called his lumber supplier while I was present and quoted me a material price which was exactly what I had overheard! First, they are incredibly professional: they show up when they say they will, do what they say they're going to do, go the extra mile and then clean up thoroughly after themselves. Secondly, Dave (co-owner) has been in the business for many, many years and very seriously knows his stuff - and yet he's very helpful and patient - without being patronizing or exaggerating the scope of work: this is a rare and very welcomed quality, especially when you're a female dealing with male contractors. Most importantly, the work they do is just beautiful - thorough, DONE RIGHT, and executed at a high level of quality. If you're looking for a contractor who is going to do half-assed work that will fall apart in a couple of years, by all means go with someone else. I, for one, wouldn't dream of letting anyone touch my home that wasn't Cowperthwaite Hininger (or someone who comes highly recommended by them). Dave and everyone who works for him has *earned* these five stars!

Although I've decided to put the project on hold for personal reasons (finishing a campervan project first!), I wanted to specifically highlight Ron's incredible professionalism and dedication. I did a lot of research for this project, and Green Group was the only one out of five companies that offered both competitive pricing and a payment plan that strictly followed California law. That level of transparency and commitment to legal standards is rare and was deeply appreciated. We spent over three weeks going back and forth on the quotation and contract details. Ron was extremely patient, answering every single question I had and providing a highly detailed, transparent 16-page proposal. If you're looking for a team that is thorough, communicative, and professional, I highly recommend reaching out to Ron. They will be my first call as soon as I'm ready to move forward with the conversion!

Y Group is local to us, and while their quote wasn't the cheapest, it was very reasonable for the scope of the work. Overall, the project went really smoothly. The crew is incredibly fast, efficient, and honestly, just really trustworthy. Whenever a mistake or an unexpected issue popped up, they were completely transparent about it, walked us through the options, and asked how we wanted to proceed.
