Love, love, love this place. Big buffet, great atmosphere and decent service. The food is pretty darn good by buffet standards. You must try the salmon. I can't speak for the sushi aspect, I like my food to be cooked, but I've heard good things. The crab is usually devastatingly over cooked, but I'm just nit-picking. They have really good cocktail sauce if you're into that...I am. Crawfish, calamari, several shrimp options and GREAT crab wontons keep me coming back time and time again. read more

I remember how awesome they were when they first opened and was always considered a treat. My daughters and I decided to drop in and get a bite. Waitstaff was lovely, attentive and friendly as usual, restaurant nice and clean as well. Unfortunately the food has taken a slide downward in quality and taste. Wonton dumplings in the soup has nice flavor but the broth was completely flavorless, fried dumplings were cold, dollar store desserts were nasty and dry, crawfish had NO seasoning... we were truly saddened. We came in around 8pm expecting it to be semi slow on a Sunday not the case they were moving tables and food so fast which made for just fresh food all around. Waiting service was also on point. Went here for a quick bite when i was getting my tire fixed at Discount Tire next door. Food was pretty good, there was a variety of food types, chicken wings, traditional chinese food, salad, & crawfish!! Crawfish was 4/10 but it was cool having it there as it was unexpected. This place is great! The ambience is comfortable. The waiters are super attentive and management is just as great and were very friendly with my grandma. They have the best crab, and they always keep the buffet trays full. The seafood tastes fresh, not old and mushy. I much rather eat here than at Papadeux. You must try the Thai chicken soup...it has pineapples! I've never tried it before and for a foodie this is pretty darn great. It had just the right amount of spiciness....soooo gooood. Really not a buffet person but open to anything new. Surprisingly good experience. Place was very busy and had a good atmosphere inside. I been to the location on 290 and this one taste just as good. It's very nicely decorated on the inside. I usually don't go out for buffet that often but this one is very clean and busy so food is changed out all the time or at least while I was there at lunch. read more

This is not a cheap buffet, but on the other hand, the food is never cheap either. The dining ambiance is great for a date, the food is always hot, fresh, and delicious, and the choice is outstanding. From buffet line to table all the way to restroom, E Star is always clean. Staff is always courteous and friendly, but it seems that about half the time they bring me the wrong bill, so you'll have to stay on top of that or you could wind up treating a family of four when it is just your wife and you. If I must think of a complaint it's that sometimes they don't have my specific favorite dessert but they always have something equally fantastic so I never leave unhappy. Let me start out saying that I have cleaned Chinese restaurants for the last 9 years and have absolutely avoided eating at any of them because of what I have seen. Chinese was a favorite some time ago and for some reason I was craving it. So, being a new Houston resident from out of state, I figured I would try it out. The inside was very modern, and different from what I am used to. The staff was friendly and I never had an empty glass nor did a dirty plate sit on my table. I sat right next to the buffet and watched. Continuously, the bars were being cleaned, utensils being replaced with clean ones, and fresh food being brought out. The food was, to my surprise, very good. Of course I didn't try it all, but I did do some damage. I enjoyed the sushi, boiled shrimp, and several of the dishes. The price was reasonable and I will eat there again, so I give it 4 stars. read more

The food is outstanding for a buffet. Tons of variety. The sushi is fresh...all of the food is fresh. The pans are shallow which keeps the food more fresh due to rotating pans more frequently. This E Star location is so much better compared with the one on 290. The food and variety were great with a few exceptions. Some of the meat I felt were too chewy. The place was packed! Our server could've been more attentive with drinks but he wasn't too bad. I'm pretty sure my 5 year old, who only ate a piece of pizza and some ice cream, was charged adult price which I do not agree with. In conclusion, I'd probably visit this location again. read more

Decor is quite nice actually, overall everything smells good but don't be fooled. Foods are nicely seasoned, that's it. Some are so salty, quoted from Gordon Ramsay :" chewy, overcooked, greasy". Feels like everything is deep fried. Fishes and oysters didn't taste fresh, beef ribs were ask chewy, some of them have a layer of charcoal on the rear end. Coke taste intensely from the tap. My seat has a hole on it, they covered it with black DUCT TAPE and the booth felt quite sticky tho. The staffs are super friendly, especially the lady with short hair. Overall, the place itself is not bad, people are friendly, there food is terrible, but for the price, I wouldn't expect something fancy. read more

Give it 4 stars because it's the best in this area. Dining environment: Very very nicely decorated. It's not your typical ugly and/or dirty buffet restaurant. Yes, it is very clean, including their restroom. (women's) Staff: Quick, helpful, and very friendly. Good service. Food: Good selection on warm food, cold, soup, sushi, dessert. Even though it is what I call Americanized Chinese food, but it is not too bad. Why? Because most of the Chinese restaurants, including your fancy P.F. Chang's, make everything taste like they come out from a pot of soy sauce. (Note: realy Chinese food doesn't use that much soy sauce) E Star's food is not as "dark" as many others. Cold food includes some interesting salad such as spicy mango, spicy baby octpus, etc. Yummy and fun. Several sushi and roll and sashimi options. They have crab legs and crawfish at dinner time. We once had mint mouse. OMG. SO GOOD. But the other two visit we didn't see it. Awww. My standard on buffet food is not high, so I'd say this is not bad. E-star is my favorite buffet chain in Houston. I usually go to the Katy location and am happy there. This was my first time at this location. The servers are very friendly. Our server Andy was on point; super attentive, polite, and smiley. He brought plenty of napkins, and always kept our water refilled. I will definitely request his section next time! They we're constantly bringing out fresh food and exchanging trays on the buffet line. The hot items were hot and the sushi was cold; perfect. There was a variety of different foods, not everything was fried (I love that). The baked salmon was fantastic. The tables and booths were clean, and the servers bussed tables quickly. It was definitely family friendly. There were a variety of table top sizes, and what looked like a private room off to the side; good to know if I ever have to have a large gathering. My only request would be to have a tofu dish. read more
