Booked online last minute; no other options in the area unfortunately. Reviews and pictures looked fine enough to rest our heads for the night. The lady at check in was very nice, took about ten minutes to get someone to the window for service(I said window, no lobby). We were then uncharged for a queen bed(I booked a queen online) and she charged us $15 additional dollars, for $165 for a motel, no amenities nothing extra. The room smelled like a mix of a hospital and cigarettes. Outside was dirty, the room was sold as newly remodeled, maybe 20 years ago. It was rundown. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The towels were dingy. There was someone else's hair all over the coffee and tea packets. The pillows were so old flat and lumpy at the same time. Overall 1 star experience. Drive twenty minutes to a neighboring town. read more

(I also posted this review on another platform) CAUTION! I have never given a bad on-line review to anyone or any entity and unfortunately this is my first. I got off the phone earlier today with whom I think was "Joe", possibly the manager regarding my complaint over a dirty room (esp floors) and perhaps sheets that had dirt or maybe sand. The customer service was probably the worst I have experienced, including dealing with the French (no I'm not Francophobic, my wife is French and we go there a couple of times a year). After taking a morning shower I noticed dirt outside the shower and after walking back to my bed my feet were black from the dirty floor, yes black. I left early in the morning for a court case, before the managers were available at 10am. By noon yesterday I was driving back to Monterey. I only asked for an adjustment to the $11 surcharge for that room though a more reasonable accommodation should have been offered given the experience. The push-back was swift and unyielding - "you waited two days to inform us" (actually one day given that we were then driving for 4.5 hrs) and he indicated that we couldn't "prove it". We have stayed at Eagle & Rose Inn several times previously without issue and I am very disappointed over "Joe's" tone and lack of consideration, all over 11 bucks. As such I give this treatment and experience a big thumbs down. C'est la vie...as the French say. read more

My family and I were attending my nieces graduation and decided to get a room for the night. Charlene was super sweet and check-in was a breeze. I'm not gonna lie, I was excited to stay here and knowing it was under new management I was hoping to be impressed. We got into our room and it was cute; I was actually impressed. The A/C was super cold which was perfect for the 90+ degree weather. The fridge worked great! Every was great up until... I needed to use the shower and there was hair everywhere (on the walls and pan of the shower). It was awful. When we came back for the night after the grad party, I accidentally locked us out of the room. *face palm* Having an overtired one year old and knowing the office is closed, I was nervous we were going to be locked out for the night. It was about 11pm and I went to ring the doorbell at the office and Charlene was there with a smile in less than a minute with a spare key to open my room. We get in the room and pull back the sheets... They were never changed. Again, there was hair and who knows what else all over the sheets (definitely used). We were exhausted; so we slept on top of the comforter with towels to cover us. read more

Stayed here for NYE. The rooms have an odd smell, and the beds and rooms are tiny. The walls are very thin, we could actually hear our next door neighbor snoring. If you don't mind the odd smell, small bed & room, the ability to hear your next door neighbor, then this is the place for you. Harbin was sold out on rooms so they suggested I try the Eagle and Rose Inn at ten percent discount. Alas! Charlene greeted me with utmost respect as she had prewarmed my room for me. I was so happy with my remodeled room clean, stylish, and above all- very quiet. I was confident that I would remain warm with the excellent heater and hot shower with a shower head that hit the spot -forceful and abundant. We booked this hotel last minute on a Saturday and we paid exactly $90. Considering that every other hotel cost over $300 for our last minute vacation in Calistoga I say we had a good deal. The good? The receptionist was very welcoming and friendly. They had a good coffee, decent cable tv, a fridge, and microwave. The bad? Room was tiny, and saw about two large spiders when getting ready for checkout, the maid came knocking on our door at 8am, people playing loud rock music when we came in for check in and at about 9am they cranked it up again. Bottom line? If you are desperate looking for a decent place to lay your head and aren't looking for anything in particular except to sleep you will be fine here. We just woke up, grabbed all our belongings and dropped the key off in the drop box. Probably wouldn't stay here again if we had time to book, but if we are ever in a pinch again I the area, I would stay here. read more

After reading the reviews I was a little skeptical, but it was much cheaper then the other choice so I thought I would give it a try for a night. I had to stay in town for a job for the week so I thought trying it out for atleast 1 night wouldn't be too bad. Pulling into the driveway you can see a nice garden setting with a place to BBQ or just relax outdoors. Sweet! The motel from the outside looks like a cute small town kinda place. Very clean and fresh looking. I pulled up to the "check in" window and saw a smiling face peering out at me. I reminded myself of the few bad reviews I read and proceeded to check in. Checking in took about 2 minutes. WOW that was easy. They have 4 or 5 different styled rooms to choose from so I chose the remodeled queen. Inside the room was : Bed, love seat sofa, coffee table, TV, mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot. The room was spotless clean and I felt safe walking barefoot on the tiled floors. Everything looked up to date and fresh.. No chemical odors, mildew smells or anything. Bed was comfortable, no complaints there. I had a peaceful nights rest then went and talked to the husband and wife team that manages the place. Both wore friendly smiles and treated me like I was family right away. I decided I would stay the rest of my work week there and I am glad I did!This is not an extravagant place but it is very peaceful, clean, friendly and cozy. There is a good deli and a Chinese food place right across the street. A great pizza place that delivers to motel guests and a breakfast/lunch place in the middle of town. I recommend all 4. If you're expecting a fancy place with all the amenities of an upscale hotel, you won't find it here. What you will find is a small room with the basics-- 2 beds, a tv, mini fridge, a mini coffee maker where they provide you with coffee, a microwave, a couple of powdered hot chocolates, and styrofoam cups. The place is a little dated with tile floors, but we had everything we needed to have a good night's sleep. Another reviewer mentioned that they had loud neighbors, but we were lucky to have 2 quiet nights in a row-- on a Friday and Saturday to boot! They also had free Wi-Fi which was great. read more

The landscaping is very nice outside, a beautiful garden and a table and chairs near the front. This place is well kept and the people are nice. Inside the room is small, like 20 sq feet small! Bed is practically up against the wall on both sides and almost within reach of the kitchen area. The bathroom is dinky and has a stand up stall with a curtain and a toilet. Outside the bathroom is the sink which shares the space with a counter, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, all nice appliances. Also a small tv mounted to the wall. We kept cool, but under the very loud blare of the in-wall ac unit. Unfortunately the bed was VERY firm and springy, described as feeling like cardboard. Also check out time was 11, which was kind of inconvenient. Overall the niceties didn't quiet make up for the hard bed and loud ac. read more

Never again. We booked a room there for a night. Temperature outside was 43F, and when we got there at 9pm we found the room to be the exact same temperature. The radiator in the room took until 1am to heat the room to an acceptable temperature. The blanket was thin, the extra blanket even thinner. We had to wear everything we brought, including 2 wool hats, to stay warm. To make it even cozier the room smelled really bad, like smelly feet. I spoke to another person the next day that also stayed the night there, and she had the exact same experience. Question for the owners: If you know you have guest coming that day, would it kill you to turn on the heater in the afternoon? And maybe clean the carpet? But my main complaint is really about the temperature. read more

My husband and I decided to do a last minute getaway. We want to check out Twin Pine Casino because we've never been there. So we called to book a room and they were full. I asked the gentleman on the phone if we would recommend us a hotel nearby. He told us about Eagle Rose hotel. I called right away to see if they had rooms available. The lady on the phone was so nice. We got a room with a Queen size bed for $115 which was awesome for a last minute getaway. The room was a nice size since it was just us two. They had the usual amenity in the room. They had air conditioning in the room but we enjoyed the ceiling fan instead. They have a small table right outside of the room to enjoy eating your dinner or just to have your morning coffee. Your able to park right outside your front door which is awesome! The casino is just a minute drive and so are the stores. I highly recommend this place. We are definitely going back. I forgot to mention. The staff are amazing. I personally like staying here when I visit because you can reserve a room a week before and it's nice and quiet here. It's just all around convenient for us when visiting family. This little motel is the cheapest place in the area and was perfect for what we wanted. It was clean and quiet with a comfortable bed. The desk lady was friendly and showed us the available rooms before we choose on. We parked outside the room, unloaded or luggage and then went to dinner. After dinner we came back, went to sleep and left the next morning. For this type of place, everything was fine. There is no breakfast but there was enough coffee in the room to make 8 cups of regular or decaf. My only negative was that the wifi did not work. It was not a big deal for me that night but sometimes it would be important. The desk lady said she was having computer problems. The next time I need to stay in Middletown, we would definitely go back. We paid $89 which is by far the lowest in the area! read more

I second the first reviewer...lovely people, lovely garden, but the room...oh boy, was I wanting better for what I paid...room was very small, although everything was sparkly clean. This place is not cozy, but not scary either, it's not a dive, but it's not up to Super 8 quality level either. I've never stayed in a motel room without a carpet before (and when we checked out, the other rooms looked like they had carpet), but the entire floor was tiled with ceramic tile...with mini cheapie kitchen type rugs on each side of the bed... so the floor was cold underfoot...it gave the whole room a chilly feel. And the shower was the smallest I've ever used (and I've been in some tiny Euro bathrooms)...bump my elbows small. You can do a whole lot worse, this place is clean and well tended, but it needs some amenities, like a carpet! read more

Small room...no iron or ironing board...bed very uncomfortable... The same mop bucket that someone else had in their parking spot was in mine this morning. I had an outdoor table and chairs as table. Housekeeping look like teenage girls...who in turn were doing more smoking and drinking coffee than cleaning. They offered me a 10$ discount on my next stay for my inconvenience. NO THANKS. Considering that this place is one of the ONLY places to stay in Middletown, besides the casino, you'd think they'd put some effort into cleaning it up!! $80-$90 a night is a complete ripoff! I was so uncomfortable there, I couldn't sleep. Would have rather slept in my car, in all honesty. I kept waiting for something to crawl on me and even though it smelled of disinfectant I don't think it was due to it being cleaned, I think they just sprayed Lysol to make it seem that way. read more

By far the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. Our other options were twice the cost and reviews seemed ok so I thought why not?? The room is very old but clean enough. I just didn't want to touch too much or walk around without shoes for sure. We stayed at the end of a line of rooms and apparently it was the party room. All night we heard people talking extremely loud, the tv next door very clearly all night, a dog barking and extremely loud car/motorcycle. My 1 year old daughter who doesn't sleep well outside our home woke up from one of these various noises. She was crying and we were desperately trying to get her back to sleep when someone next door started pounding on the wall/door and then revved an engine. The next morning we heard a couple screaming fighting along with a dog barking and someone hitting walls. I've stayed in some shady places in my younger days and this is by far the worst experience. read more

If you want a room you can actually MOVE around in, you won't get it here. Also, the a/c unit (just a little thing in the wall) STANK horribly. Still, they take dogs and the grounds are nice for walking them. However, I cannot agree about the people running this place being nice. Notice how the name sounds more like a biker's tattoo than a "european" style inn? My second day there, the male mgr. (one female, one male) asked me to go to Harbin's "hot tubs" with him and his brother. What? How uncomfortable and unprofessional, esp. since I was there to visit my b/f. Then the female mgr. hated me. She started harassing me, refused to say "hi" when I said "hi", claimed I didn't pay on days I paid (stupid since I used my card, which provided proof), etc. They also have some very unsavory customers who show up drunk, yelling and screaming outside all hours. To top it off, another female guest (also tall and blonde) got angry and started yelling because she came back to find her door slightly ajar and her stuff had been looked through. A few evenings later, the same thing happened to me. Now we move from uncomfortable to creepy. On top of that, the female mgr. kept saying I had to leave my room because she rented it to someone else? That makes no sense. My b// would go talk to her and she'd change her mind. Finally, she said I had to leave for one week because someone else was coming in. Fine, since she wouldn't change her mind, even though it was a lie, as the place was empty. Then she claimed that when they came in to clean my room, my dogs had peed all over the rugs in it. Uh, not true. I had spilled water I got from Calistoga in a faulty water container on the rugs. But she used that as her excuse to not allow me back in. There are other options. I'd take them. Esp. if you're a woman, or there's a woman in your party. read more

I wanted to give 1 star, but I am giving 2 stars because I requested that the manager give me my money back, and she did. We had a horrible stay at The Eagle & Rose last night. When we entered the room, the room smelled very strong of a disinfectant. We had to air out the room when we went to dinner. After a physically long work day, we were hoping to relax and watch some TV, but the TV did not work. The worst part of our stay was that there was a person next door who was blasting her TV all night. I called the front desk twice and nobody answered. I then called our neighbor's extension and she did not pick up the phone. I banged on the wall loudly and yelled for her to turn down the TV. She still did not turn it down. I had to go outside at midnight and bang on her door and loudly yell for her to turn off the TV. The TV continued to blare and I was so angry as I had to get up early the next day to do business. This same woman had her TV blaring again at 7:00 am the next morning. It looks like this woman lives there long term. She and her friends were outside our door smoking. I suggested to the manager that this woman needs to have headphones if she is going to listen to the TV that loud, and all night. I went to the office to check out in the morning at 11:00 am and the manager was not there. I knocked loudly on the door. She explained that the office is normally open at 10:00 am, but not today. This is the first motel/ hotel that I have EVER stayed in where I could not get a hold of the front desk. I don't think it is right that they are unreachable from 9:00 pm until 11:00 am?? When I spoke to the manager she was not very apologetic and she was very defensive. This place was bad. read more

Stayed 1 night here and i dont recomend it to anyone. When we first checked in the TV didnt work and we had to get help with that. There was a mop bucket with nasty water in it sitting in our parking spot that we moved and it stayed in the same spot the entire day. The room was tiny and the heater didnt work. The office closed at 10pm so we couldn't find anyone to help fix it and on top of that something was biting my legs all night. Bed bugs or fleas i don't know but it made for such a bad night my husband and i were so on edge we ended up arguing in the morning. All they had to say in the morning was "really"? We left that place so agravated and ticked off we swore we would never come back. The only good thing about the place was the girl who checked us in. She was sweet and polite. Also very helpful. The garden area was pretty but not accessible and there was no soda machine or snack machine. The ice machine was sitting next to the garbage cans so needless to say we didn't use any ice. read more
