I stayed here for July 4th weekend. Clear Lake wasn't what I had envisioned. I supposed Lake Tahoe has and always will ruin every lake for me. Too high of expectations I guess, It's a very dinky town full of crazy locals. The housing is old, and there are no attractions aside from the lake, which in itself is not that stellar in person vs. digital form. Moving onto the motel.... It's not terrible by any means. My bf checked in and said the indian owner guy was sort of passive and rude to him...up until he paid for the room then he became nice. Talk about great customer service? I was expecting cigarette butts in the sink or the room smelling like drugs and other paraphernalia. It was a decent sized room with a king bed, the AC worked, the floors weren't nasty and the place didn't reek of pet urine nor smoke (although it did smell heavily of cleaning detergent/bleach). The bathrooms were standard and actually CLEAN! Don't come here expecting fancy toiletries but at least there were towels and a hair dryer! The rooms also come equipped with a small kitchen with a stove, microwave, and mini fridge. The lakefront inn is adjacent to the water so that's convenient, except it was so stinkin' hot who goes in the water anyways?? Unless I had a boat, I would not have touched that dirty water under the scorching sun. I didn't spend too much time in the motel because my friends had a nicer AirBnB also adjacent to the lake so we decided to BBQ there instead. The owners are doing a lot of work to improve this motel and it shows. The funishings in the room are new and clean. The view is beautiful directly over the lake. However, the bathroom was nearly enough for me to leave. The smell of mildew was so strong from the bathroom it was in the entire room. Again everything in the bathroom was clean, but the exhaust fan didn't seem to work and the room was beyond musty. I would have asked for a refund if I didn't already know there were no rooms available nearby. I was in room 311, hopefully other rooms are less musty. I needed a last minute place to stay while in the area and was hoping for a lake view. The view was the only good thing when it came to this particular location. It's very run down and in a state of disarray. Sure the price is low but so are their standards in regards to cleanliness and sanitation. Not to mention the parking lot is clustered with run down vehicles and shady looking patrons. We stayed only one night but the bad impression will last a lifetime. The room has a musty stale odor , and the curtains were missing a shade so privacy in the kitchen was not an option (see photo). The sink was clogged and even the garbage disposal couldn't seem to clear the blockage, which the owner must've known because there was a bucket to catch the runoff under the sink. We found remnants of the previous occupants throughout the room, including a crown royal bottle top which we did not bring. The bathroom was hazardous due to the fact that there were tile floors with no rugs or handles to avoid slipping while exiting the shower/tub. There was repairs happening late into a Sunday evening , which includes welding and spray painting which were both visually and aromatically nauseating . I wish someone had reviewed this place recently so I could've avoided making the mistake of selecting it. The owner seemed nice but was very hard to understand what he was saying due to a very thick accent. I hope their repairs include a full remodel , otherwise I don't see anyone enjoying their stay at this particle location. read more

This is the best kept secret in all of LAKE COUNTY! !! I was on business for the valley fires in Lake County for 75 days! I stayed 60 plus nights at the best western in clearlake (don't recommend) but I was blessed to stay at this little gem I stayed in room 310 and it had picture perfect views of clearlake, especially at sunrise and sunset! Room was perfect, king size bed, big bathroom, great water pressure, long hot showers! It had a good size kitchen room, with a table and two chairs, fridge, electric stove, microwave, coffee pot and a window overlooking the lake! The room also had a TV and good WiFi reception! Free WiFi too!! Outside my room was a BBQ and a picnic table! Also there is a cat walk that takes you 50ft into the lake, perfect for casting a fishing line off of! I saw lots of pictures of guests that caught fish from it! This place also has a game room with arcade games and a pool table! The location is within 15 minutes of Robinson casino, 35 minutes from konocti casino , 45 minutes from twin pines casino and less than an hour to cache Creek or colusa casino! There is a grocery store and a gas station within 5 minutes and some of the best Chinese food around at happy garden about 7 minutes away! The only drawbacks that I could see were a slightly small parking lot (it's slightly 13 room motel, with about 13 parking spaces) the room walls are on the thin side, but not bad. The TV'S. Are a little outdated, but function perfectly! Tons of channels! It's worth mentioning that the motel is pest free! I saw one or two ants when I was there and that was it! The worst of the worst, the place was full of roaches and absolutely dirty. The bed was full of pubic hairs, even in the mini fridge. I mean full of it. No way the sheets were changed or the floors swept. I requested new bed sheets but they could not provide the correct size, even after 6 attempts and the roaches were brave, no fear. Walking around like they owned the place. There is no way this hotel should be rated as a 4 star..very misleading as it is really is a 1/2 star hotel. Best kept secret. Please don't tell anyone. My room was big, clean, quite with a direct view of the lake. The keepers were efficient, kind as with a great sense of humor. This place is my new hide-away. It's also close to shore access, hikes, restaurants and hikes via a short car ride. read more

Had a great time at this hotel this is my second time with family and friends here and we enjoyed ourselves we had the rooms with the lake view each time and I would be up at 5:30 fishing all the guys tried to beat each other to the pier lol our wife's or girlfriends relax and stayed in bed lol were able to chill outside till late the staff was way cool anything that was needed was received without long wait time only one complaint was the bugs in one room but as soon it was reported staff changed the room for them with a fuss I would always recommend this hotel read more

I am so upset by the hotel manager at Lake Marina Inn. We made a reservation online for a veteran who just came out of the hospital with a heart condition. His GPS sent him all over the lake looking for the Inn so he called me frantic around 9:30pm lost. I immediately called the manager of the Inn to get directions (with my friend on the line), but because my friend was upset/frustrated/scared, instead of directions, the manager cancelled our paid-for reservation. This left my veteran friend basically stranded on a cold night with nowhere to stay as he had no internet to book another hotel. The manager of the Inn had absolutely no compassion for my friend -- and we still had to pay the service charge. The manager left him to die in his car. So I hope you will take this in to consideration when booking a place to stay. The Lake Marina Inn had no respect or compassion for a veteran who needed a warm place to stay after leaving the hospital! read more

My friend and I broke down literally 2 houses away from this little place. Tow truck and insurance company gave us the run around for 4 hours before we decided to ask for help (needed to charge my phone and find a warm place to wait) the owner was so nice and let me charge my phone in the office and was even nice enough to give us a room at a discounted rate for our troubles. The tenants we encountered were all helpful and nice, the place is not in the best shape BUT the people here are wonderful and we are beyond thankful for them helping us! I was totally inconvenienced. Myself and my husband went for the weekend. I made reservations well ahead of time. When I got there the owner sold my room to someone else! Leaving me with all this perishable food and no way to cook it. He debted my card before he showed me my room. so I was stuck. I couldn't go anywhere else and pay another $200 plus dollars.! we had to stay in the handicap room which is ok. If It had a kitchen or someplace to store the food!! and ocfourse I wouldn't cancel because then now I have to wait for my money to return to my card and have no place to stay! Reading reviews online it's hard to tell if a hotel is a bug-infested hell hole or a decent place where a vocal minority had a bad experience. Anyhoo, I stayed at Lake Marina Inn for 4 nights and I'm glad I did. I've stayed at 2 other motels on the lake. One cost twice as much for a comparable room. The other was the same price but a total rat trap. Here's the low-down on LMI: *Clean clean clean! I'm a corner-checker. Even the corners were schmootz-free. *Super nice owner. Vinny gave me info on the different 'hoods that only a local knows, which helped me figure out where to rent a home (I'm moving to Lake County for work) *Fast, non-spottty wifi *Plugs on base of bedside table lamp to accomodate short cell phone cords while you're in bed *Quality TV with clear picture and lots of channels *AC/heat wall unit works well, a bit loud but nothing like some clunky units where you have to choose between being comfortable or going deaf *The kitchen is a separate room from the bedroom, with a real electric stove, microwave, good cold lil fridge, sink with garbage disposal, table and chairs. Could use a towel bar above the sink. *Baby bear mattress [not too hard (papa bear) not too soft (mama bear)] *Clothes rack with plenty of hangers, full-sized iron and ironing board *Located in a good 'hood *You can hear the sound of the lake right outside your door. I reserved a room for a whole week at this place for my in-laws that were coming to visit and the owner told me that he'd be charging the credit card 2 days in advance, so I made my in-laws send is the cash for the room and we'd use our card to pay. The day comes for check in and now, the card has still not been charged and my in-laws can't check into to their room because my husband is at work, and we used his card to book the room. I had to reiterate questions over and over with the owner, and he said to show him an email, which we never received. I'm thoroughly disappointed in the service here, especially since my in-laws drive from Arizona and all they want to do is sleep and shower, and can't because of the miscommunication caused by the owner. read more

We spent the weekend in this great little Inn on the Clearlake. This place has been remodeled and it was very clean and quite. This is next to the highway but you could hardly hear the traffic. I caught big cats and carp 20 feet off the back deck. My girlfriend loved how clean this place is and she is close to a neat freak. We live in Santa Cruz but we will come back to this Inn very soon. Stayed here for a week due to being evacuated for a wildfire. I really enjoyed the hospitality, the overall relaxed atmosphere, friendly and courteous management. I came across a Living Social deal for this place and thought it would be nice for a quick getaway. This place has been around for years, as have most things in this quaint little lake town. It was clean, comfortable, and right on the water, with a new deck to relax on. I only met one employee, but he was friendly and helpful, offering ideas for places to eat and things to do. They have a game room that they don't really seem to use but they let us check it out anyway. The game room has a TON of potential; I hope they put it to use soon! I could tell that the rooms had been updated. I wasn't expecting a 5 star resort (search elsewhere if that's what you're looking for, if you are looking to pay that kind of price) and was perfectly happy with what we discovered. I never been in a motel or inn before. I usually spent our nights in big hotels. We spent 2 nights over this week-end. We were so happy to find this inn. The rooms are clean. The staffs are super friendly. Mark helped us to find all the activities for my teenagers and helped us to find food. We never been to a hotel that's so friendly and helpful. We felt like we were all are friends or family living in this inn. We talked and chatted at the BBQ area. We did fishing together. It was so much fun. The pictures made the hotel look very nice, but in person it was even nicer. The room was quite a bit larger than I had expected! Everything was clean, the shower had plenty of hot water, the bed was big and comfortable, and the view over the lake was spectacular. The manager was very friendly ... he told me the office closed at 10pm. There was a food store ("Red and White") a few miles south, and it closes at 9pm every night (7 nights). The WiFi worked fine to stream some video. One minus is that the fridge, while new and clean, didn't seem to have a freezer compartment. My experience with this hotel was the WORST I ever experienced in just two nights. This happened on Valentine's Weekend. First of all, and the most important thing, they had bedbugs in the room I stayed, I got bitten more than 30 times in my arms and neck. I left the hotel on a Monday and drove back to San Francisco; on Tuesday the pain and itch was so big that I went to the hospital and they told me those bites were bedbugs (I never had that problem before so at first I didn't know my bites were from bedbugs). The doctor gave me creams and pills that made feel sleepy the whole day. The worst comes now, I call the hotel on Thursday telling what happened and the manager who picked up the phone (the same that did my check in and out of the hotel) said he had no bedbugs that he'll call his boss the day after and asked me to call again next Monday. So I did call him on Monday and he said he checked the room and he couldn't find any bedbugs (as if bedbugs are easy to see). I told him I wanted at least my money back after all this and he said he had to call his boss again and AGAIN asked me to call the next day. By the way, I asked gave him my phone number so his boss could call me and make things easier but he refused. So I called again the next day and he basically made me think I was crazy that the bedbugs didn't come from his hotel. I live in the city in my own apartment and I do not have bedbugs and the only hotel I've been in the past months was this one, so there is no way this is coming from any other place. Finally, I told him I would sue him if he don't give me my money back and he accepted to refund me 50% of what I paid. This is by far not what I was expecting to receive after all. Plus I got the money back two weeks after that, so this means two weeks of back and forth calls and problems. I am definitely telling this story as my personal review for this hotel because the manager never accepted he had bedbugs so it is possible that they are still in room 310. I do not recommend you to stay in this hotel at all, first because of the hygienic problems, second because whenever you have a problem with the hotel they refuse to help and they make things difficult to resolve. read more

My stay at the Marina in was my first and last......All though the place was clean and looked recently remodeled ...I couldn't get the TV working so I went to the office and the manager was able to get it going after 5 or 10 minutes...I came in with groceries for 2 days and the fridge did not work...there were ice cube trays in the freezer shelf with water....no ice.....I used ice from managers office.....Bathroom has minimal space on sink for everyday use.......we were given a sign for "please clean room" or "do not disturb" again....we came back in the after noon and the place was just as we left it garbage full, bed messed up...we had to go get soap and coffee.....at this point I had to fricken laugh and I'm not a complainer usually but this was ridiculous......clean and recently remodeled but.......next time Indian Beach for sure......don't mean to rag on this but this is what yelp is all about an hopefully learn from too!..... read more

First off... I forgot that we are basically in the middle of nowhere so please keep that in mind when reading my review. My husband and I took our family to Clearlake Oaks for the holiday weekend to a family function. If you are looking for a 5star in Napa, this is not the place, but this is 5star for Clearlake Oaks! It is right on the water, we fished off of the pier at the Inn and at night it was lit.The kids were so excited to fish that they had gone out before we went to get bait, and there were people out fishing already that gave them bait, and helped them learn. The rooms are huge, clean, and recently remodeled. I was very pleased and comfortable with the bathroom. THEY HAVE DIRECT TV, so it was not hard for the kids to find something to watch when they weren't fishing. The room had a nice size personal refrigerator and microwave that were both clean. There was no stale odor in the room (which I kind of expected but I was pleasantly surprised). Lastly, we had a small issue in our room so we rang the doorbell outside of the office window late night, and the gentleman who checked us into our room came out really quickly and helped us solve our problem. The next morning he came out to make sure that our stay was suitable. Not only were the Inn Keeper's very nice, their guests were extremely nice. It was great. I would totally recommend this place.
