I was in town for a golf outing at Yankee Run and was looking for a place to have dinner. I looked up Eagle Grille and Tavern, and thought it would be good. It's a nice venue - there's an outdoor patio section, where I chose to sit, as it was nice outside. The main seating area in the restaurant was being used for a special event. However, there was an additional part of the restaurant, with the bar, that was open to the patio. I saw two items on the menu - in the appetizer section - that I became excited about. The first was Wedding Soup. It's a favorite of mine! My son-in-law's mother makes a great wedding soup. The second was the Meatballs with Ricotta. I almost always order meatballs if they're on the menu. I did mention to the server I would like both the soup and the meatballs hot (temperature). The soup came first - my eyes opened wide seeing all the orzo pasta, escarole, little meatballs and chicken - I couldn't wait to taste it! My spoonful was met with the strongest taste of sodium I've had in soup! I was shocked - somewhat in disbelief. I tried it again hoping it wouldn't be as salty as I thought it was. Again, such a strong taste of salt. I felt so disappointed - I was so looking forward to that soup. I had to send it back. Next up, the meatballs. The meatballs were served on a little, rectangular plate. The marinara was on the bottom and the ricotta was on the top. I tried my first bite - cold, hard and chewy. The ricotta, was cold, and completely made the meatballs (which weren't that hot) cold as well. The marinara - see attached picture - was thinly spread on the bottom, and wasn't hot. I was curious about why it was chewy and not really tender. I sliced one in half, and saw it was slightly raw in the middle. My first bite was my last bite. I was now hoping the entree would be good, as the 2 appetizers were not. I ordered the Beer Batter Fried Cod with Onion Rings. Growing up in adjoining Liberty (Youngstown) we would go to Redi-Fry on the Northside every Friday for Fried Cod or Haddock. It was always fresh and delicious! I make my own fried fish using mostly cod. The cod and onion rings came and looked very appetizing! They were. The cod was a good size and full of fresh, tender fish. The beer batter fried coating was perfect - however - there was a little too much grease left from the fry. I worked with deep fryers (KFC) and know if the temperature of the oil is high enough, the oil will not soak into the crust. The fish was, nonetheless, very good. The onion rings were also tasty - a similar coating - which was near perfect, as it was not as oily as the fish. While the appetizers made for a 'rough start', the entree provided a 'smooth ending' to the dinner! I do want to make special mention of my server. She was EXCELLENT!! We were in town from California for a cigar event at a friend's lounge there in Hubbard. They recommended this spot and I will say that the food was great and the prices were very fair. My biggest complaint was the service and the lack of professionalism from the young staff. From the time we ordered our food to the time it hit our table was over an hour, which for me is kind of ridiculous. Everyone told me it's a slower pace of life in the Midwest but this was really bad. It took young waiter almost half an hour to bring us refills after was asked. The other thing I didn't like was all the young ladies working there just hanging out at the bar counter doing their make up and stuff in front of the customers, I thought that wasn't very professional. We saw people leaving after their meals and tables were not cleaned up. All their dirty plates just sat there long after they left. The food was very good but the service needs drastic improvements. As a professional cook it really bothered me. So I give 3 out of 5 stars. read more

Hubbard let's just say we have a few great little places to check out. This might be my town favorite. Service was great and it's a neat place to hang out to have a drink and meet with friends. We were greeted with a nice warm welcome from who I assume was the owner. We sat on the bar side so we could listen to the local band playing some 70's favorites. Decor is nice and they have outdoor seating available. Food was really good I was torn between a few things. Decided to try the southwestern steak panini. Glad I did for it was really good. Waitress said good choice and she wasn't Lying. If you decide to stop by Hubbard Ohio give this place a try. read more

Service was great. Mozzarella sticks were the best I have had but it's not a shareable appetizer... three sticks, not even enough to use up the marinara sauce. I ordered the $19.99 steak medallions with a side of fries (because they don't offer mashed potatoes) and a salad. Steak was supposed to have a brandy sauce with onions and mushrooms. The sauce was more like fat gravy with no flavor, the onions were like whole peels and not diced so not edible, and the steak was overcooked and of poor cut. Medallions are usually filet mignon but this was not even recognizable. I pulled out the onions, ate the mushroom, and gave the steak to my dog. Took five people to dinner to celebrate a birthday at $95 with tip, I had a water with salad and fries. read more

The interior and exterior of the building at first glance appeared nice; however, the floors were sticky. The 1st sign of trouble was a bad odor and then service that took forever to place an order. This was followed by an incorrect drink order and dirty silverware. The food quality was very poor for our spaghetti and chili dog orders. Our companion did say the chipotle burger and fries were good. I literally took one bite of the pasta and that was it for me. It tasted off and there was lots of water in the bowl. All this after waiting 45 minutes for it to be delivered. I've only ever been to 1 other restaurant that Yelp gave good ratings to that I would consider horrible. The restaurant was rated 4.2 but we give it 1.2. read more

Traveling through Ohio on interstate 80 and got off the interstate for some dinner. Saw this place had 4 1/2 stars on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I'm a creature of habit and will often order a bleu cheese & bacon cheeseburger when they are on the menu. I have eaten them from coast to coast and this might possibly be the best one I've ever eaten! The sweet potato fries which were a one dollar up charge were incredible as well with a maple and butter dipping sauce. Did I mention that I had this paired with a great craft beer. My wife had the seasonal Summer Strawberry Salad which she said was really good. This will be a regular stop when traveling through this part of the country. read more

Decent spot for a quick meal and a few cold beers. Probably our third time here and decided to stop before meeting friends at a local winery just down the street. We were immediately seated and drink orders taken. Beer was ice cold. Mostly typical bar type menu with the wife ordering a burger and I went for the boneless teriyaki wings. Although, the appetizer we chose was breaded zucchini topped with marinara which was damn tasty. Not so much a typical bar type of choice but man was it good. Our server was a polite and attentive young man. The wings were your typical boneless smothered in teriyaki which I enjoyed. My wife's burger was pretty tasty as well with it being a double patty topped with caramelized onions, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Cooked to her liking and was served with a side of fries. In the small town of Hubbard, this eatery ranks with some of the better restaurants one might find in a more metropolitan area. The large menu has something for everyone and has an Italian flair. Steaks, sandwiches, pasta dishes, fish, and tonight a Lenten special of Ahi Tuna, a standout for my husband who's had that dish many times. If I could rate this place a ZERO I would. Let me start with I have worked in the food service industry for around 9-years. We had a reservation at 6:00pm for my Grandfathers 75th birthday. We were told around 6:30pm by the server that there is only one cook for the night and they were out of multiple items on their menu. We went ahead and ordered our food. We proceeded to wait 2 1/2 hours for the food and it all came out at different times for our group. When the food was coming out the server said that the kitchen ran out of things when food was hitting the table. Like "we ran out of baked potatoes so we gave you 4 extra shrimp" and "we ran out of penne so we gave you angel hair". Why not ask the guest what substitute side they would like? When 8:30pm hit I told the server my fiancé and I were no longer interested in our food. One of the members in our party got a pepper steak sandwich and was physically ill in the bathroom after not even eating a quarter of the sandwich from the amount of grease. The owner didn't even come out to talk with us, we had to ask for him and seemed like he didn't care. You would think as an owner you would hop on the cook line and help your business plus talk to unhappy guests. At one point the cook yelled "I fucking hate this place" slamming a door. Word of advice for the owner of the Eagle Grille and Tavern if your staff cannot handle a crowd maybe don't have guests sit down, close your dining room, and or post a sign on your door that their meals won't be out in a timely manner. Unfortunate how our experience was and none of us will be back. We weren't the only guests unsatisfied with the Eagle Grille & Tavern experience. During our 2 1/2 hour fail of a family birthday dinner some other guest was screaming about waiting two hours for their food and blamed it on our larger party, which is false. The kitchen was understaffed and couldn't keep up with the tickets and there were only two servers for how "busy" they were. Long story long do not recommend. read more

It was a Friday night, and the bar was packed with a birthday party, and just several guests enjoyed the perfect weather with the open door concept. There was plenty of room to accommodate everyone. We sat outside with one other family outside. We sat down and waited only a couple of minutes before being greeted by someone. We ordered a margarita and a beer off tap with fried zucchini and hummus. Both appetizers were great, fresh hummus and chips, and the large zucchini planks were cooked perfectly. The service was great! For dinner, I had the fisherman's platter, rib special, and chicken flatbread pizza. First off, those dinosaur bone ribs were awesome, and the flat bread was really good. It could have been a little crispier, but I liked it. The fisherman platter was great. Hush puppies were perfect, but the clams were a bit chewy. The feel of this place was awesome. The moment we walked in we were greeted and served immediately. What a fun new place! We spend a good amount of time in Hubbard with my daughter taking lessons and stuff at Hubbard Music and so finding the Eagle for a snack or meal is just awesome! I would much rather sit in a nice place like this and eating crap fast food in the car! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon with the munchies and an hour to kill between her lesson and her band practice. Since we couldn't decide on just one thing we ordered an array of appetizers and we WERE NOT disappointed! We had fries and cheese sticks and a pretzel and some loaded fries too! Everything came out hot and yummy. I truly loved the pretzel the best. It was not too salty and the cheese sauce for dipping was mild and not loaded with jalapeños like I find they often are.
