I was on my way home from a road trip & wanted a meal and a break from driving. I found Rhonda's Emerald Diner here on Yelp. It was exactly the kind of place I like. Super cute train car theme that looked authentic. The menu had everything -- breakfast, lunch, nice dinners. I got one of their breakfasts -- eggs, bacon, French toast, and some of the best potatoes I've had. Simple but good. And the prices were extremely reasonable. This is a place where local people go. I think I was the only customer that the server didn't know! I wish I lived close by because I would become a regular, too. read more

Let me just say this is a great little find hidden in Hubbard. ( Not hidden right on Main Street in Hubbard). Finally decided to check this diner out tonight. Glad we did. Our waitress was Charlene and she was overly pleasant and gave us a few recommendations on what to get. She wasn't wrong with her suggestions. Thanks Charlene. We had beef tips and noodles and a chicken Philly with fries. Food was great and everyone in the restaurant wished us a Merry Xmas on the way out. Very welcoming friendly place. We will definitely return for breakfast since this place gets pretty busy on the weekends. It's close to home and we will definitely return. We also had a few drinks and an appetizer peppers and oil with warm fresh bread. Very tasty. We had a boozy pina colada shake ( delicious) I also asked for a pina/daquari (not on the menu but I asked if Charlene could mix the 2 and this drink was delicious). This past Saturday, I finally had the opportunity to dine here, well visiting my adopted grandma. My mom and I were fans of diners in different areas we would visit, to support local, and not eating at chain restaurants. The diner itself had that classic feel, loved how the menu items were themed around 50's and 60s . As I quote, my mom would state " You know a restaurant and diner is good, if older people are there eating. She was correct, and I'm sure she would have enjoyed dining here as well. The service was fine, food was appetizing and the wait wasn't bad being earlier on a Saturday. The prices were reasonable, and the concept of boozy milkshakes, and alcoholic drinks were unique too see at a diner. Horrible salty food, runny mash potatoes, salty bouillon gravy, Salisbury steak was ordered. Sister had turkey dinner, the same, to salty, runny lumpy potatoes and bouillon gravy. We couldn't believe a restaurant would serve such slop. First time there, will NEVER go back. The only thing good about it was we paid zero. What a shame, cute restaurant too. Waitress was very nice. This place is amazing. Being from NY I am used to that certain type of menu. This one is top notch. Wedding soup was all meatballs greens and chicken super full serving. I had the Chubbys chicken salad was amazing. My friends had A burger cooked to perfection and eggs potatoes and thick cut bacon. We shared the hot chips they were absolutely fresh. I messed up we were starving and I was not thinking about photos. They have adult milk shakes with many choices with boozy add ins. Quite a concept. The appetizer options were amazing. Just left..We came in, several empty tables. Every one of them was dirty. We finally decided on the least dirty one and wiped it down ourselves. No one stopped by, but we got an earful of the waitress griping about how busy she was and how she was going to walk out. This continued for a while, and then picked back up. No one came over or even said it'll be a minute. Eventually, we got tired of it and left. So, if you feel like cleaning for free, this is your spot. read more

Great kitschy 50's diner feel. Had the Reuben sandwich and a Diet Coke. The meat was soft and tender, not noticeably chewy or tendony. Free refills on the soda was cool. Nice value meal. read more

It's ok nothing big been here before when it's been a Mexican restaurant and then shut down them up again being a regular diner, on waitresss well there's one and waiting time is long I understand a lot of people but waiting food did come out but could of been better if your hungry you will eat, but honestly not the best read more

When we pulled into the parking lot, it was packed. We had to walk around the whole restaurant before we could find a table. We had to wait 20 minutes before we could get service. Once we finally got our orders in we had to wait about another half hour before we got our food. But the food was good, classic and filling. It was very clean. This review is based on service and cleanliness. I was not only never served. My order was never taken despite waiting almost 30 minutes. We did get drinks. 1 of the four were wrong. 2 of the four adult drinks were child size. When someone asks for diet. Assume they are diabetic. I didn't get diet. That is dangerous. The tables around us were all dirty. Instead of cleaning them. They put a reserved sign on. Our server dropped off our drinks and we never saw her her again. When we did see her she was very obviously less than happy to see us. We waited 25 minutes. Me without a drink because mine wasn't diet as I ordered. Figured out we were never going to see a server again. Went to pay for our four drinks. Two of which were child sized though child sized not ordered. One of which was wrong. $9.43 for just the drinks. Zero stars would not recommend. I know that the new cool thing to do is offer subpar service and blame the pandemic and being short staffed due to extended unemployment benefits Went down to C's waffles and our order was taken within 3 minutes. I believe C's is probably functioning under the same conditions. Yet they are clean and friendly. read more

The food is good and I love to support local restaurants. It's a nice-looking, retro vibe. Like other reviews said, the service is slow. I get that it is tough to staff restaurants so I try to be patient and gracious. What bugs me is that they blast Fox News. It's a pretty small space and I'm usually next to a table full of Boomers complaining loudly about politics. That really messes up the vibe and makes the wait rough. read more

Hot or miss food. Never know what I'm going to get with this place. Sometimes the food is good and other times it's not. Very inconsistent. Noticed the last time my husband and I were there none of the employees were wearing masks. Seemed strange since every other restaurant in Hubbard has had their employees wearing them.
