This makes every other dog park in the area look like a steaming pile of garbage. Gentle rolling faux hills? Yes. REAL fake grass? Got it. Shaded benches? Yes yes yes. YOU have been disappointed and let down by "dog parks" that are in fact dirt fields. YOU have a dog. YOU deserve better. If war is to be declared betwixt dog parks--and this seems inevitable--I will throw my lot in happily with this place. These are the faux hills I want to die on.

I took my pup to this new dog park today, and we both loved it! Yes, there is no division for small dogs or big, but my tiny pup Archie has a blast playing with big dogs and small ones. Perhaps because we took him on a weekday at 1pm it wasn't insanely busy, but there were maybe 15 dogs at most at any given time. Archie was recently attacked by a large shaggy dog while walking him in my neighborhood, so bringing him here is an attempt to socialize him and reintroduce him to the fact that not all large dogs will jump him. He was wary at first, but all of the dogs were great and their owners were vigilant at all times. The AstroTurf was great, it didn't get grossly hot like one reviewer said? But it wasn't that hot today? I love the space, and once inside, you can't see the tent city. The cars driving by make some noise, but hey we live in LA! I like the water fountains...a low one that pumps fresh water for the pups. Mine, and many, don't like to drink from the slobbery water bowls! Parking was easy, we parked closer to the rec center. I am excited to have a CLEAN dog park that isn't just a huge patch of dirt, and can't wait to take Archie back again soon.

I couldn't believe some of these reviews. Hilarious. I had never considered reviewing a dog park. I was looking for somewhere in the area to take a friend's dog. It's very clean for a public park. It's very well laid out and convenient. I found plenty of parking on the other side of the beautiful park and had a lovely stroll over to the big enclosed dog area. It's in a city park. It's free. It's got shady seating for humans. There are homeless people everywhere in Los Angeles so I don't understand anyone complaining about this, has nothing to do with the dog park. Owners with poorly behaved animals (or poorly behaved owners) or owners not cleaning up the poop or animals humping other animals has nothing to do with the park. Same issues anywhere animals gather. It's a good option in the area for a dog to run around free and socialize. The dog I took loved it. If you prefer a park that has a separate area for smaller dogs it's not for you.

Excellent dog park! Love how they use turf instead of real grass or dirt to ensure that dogs don't get themselves dirty. It's a really big dog park as well so it's nice to have plenty of space for the dogs to run around.

Super bummed. This is normally one of our favorite dog parks, but our medium sized dog was attacked today and needed a $700 surgery We unfortunately didn't see which dog hurt her, so no owners have been held responsible. Be careful, and if your dog is aggressive, please exercise him or her away from other dogs

    Doggie catch!

First of all, a big thank you to all of the people who helped make this place happen. Good job! The Eagle Rock Dog Park is one of the smallest dog parks I have been to but it is very nice. The main area has a cement walkway that runs through the middle of the artificial turf area in the middle of the park (150ft x 40 ft is my eyeball estimate of the turf). The perimeter of the park has hills and trees for the dogs to poke around and explore. The fences and doors are secure which is important since Figueroa is a high traffic street. The Good: great park, clean, lots of shade, good use of space. The Bad: the park is small, no big dog/small dog areas, parking is less than ideal. The Ugly: homeless encampments & heavy traffic, BROKEN GLASS on the ground.

    The nice new sign!

Visited the dog park today on a Friday afternoon around noon. PARKING: I was confused on how to get there because the address takes you to a parking lot that is a ways away from the actual dog park, which is on the other end of the recreation park. Turns out you are better off parking on the street near the actual dog park and not the lot, if you want to be close. PARK: I loved how versatile the terrain was at this park BUT was not a fan of an all-sizes dog park. :/ I felt I had to be more vigilant with my little one because there were several large dogs who would easily trample him. However, the park offers lots of nooks and crannies for your pup to explore too. If the park had seperate spaces, I'd be super happy and give 5 stars. But it still is a nice space, just be mindful if you bring a small dog---might get run over!

My pup loves to run around the perimeter which is quite dusty, but if your pup sticks to the turf you should be fine.

When you arrive to the park, drive towards the very back until you reach the "bridge". You'll then walk under the same bridge and the dog park will be to your right. Prior to the bridge, there's an open field. People may have their dogs loose to play fetch in this section of the park. The dogs that are loose in this section have always been mature and friendly so I never feel worried for my pup. But it's something to consider and keep an eye out for. The park itself isn't the cleanest but it's not the dirtiest. I would avoid coming here after it rains because it is all dirt and the dog park is known to have puddles after it rains. There is a small and large dog section.

They do have agility equipment- ramp, tunnel, weave poles (somewhat destroyed) pause box and jumps. There was a really nice group for awhile, attentive parents, friendly Dogs. Then after awhile so many "owners" did not watch their dogs. Multiple times when we arrived the same dog would attack Betty as she entered the gate. The guy just said "oh he's fine he's not doing anything wrong" that's after I said something. One lady got upset with me when I didn't want Betty to drink from the community water bowl. She yelled "so this water isn't Good enough for your Dog?". I just replied it's my choice. And probably has something to do with the Dog that just peed in it. I guess like any Dig park there are Dogs and people that aren't the best. There is some shade with benches. Plenty of parking in the adjoining lot shared with the park with tennis courts. Weekday early morning no parking issues. Also there used to be 2 entrances to the bike path, one towards the tennis courts with a flight of steps down. The other across from the Dog park with a ramp down. But last we were there both gates were locked. It's usually clean, other visitors seem to pick up after those that don't which is nice.

There's some obstacles around in both sections but dogs don't really use them. Not much shade around, people usually stand by the wall or sit on the benches. There's a couple tables in the big dog section though with umbrellas for shade which is nice. The big dog section is certainly way bigger than the small dog section. They're able to explore more, and sniff around all around. PROS: - Small dogs vs Big Dogs section - Big space for big dogs to roam around - Free poop bags - Water fountain in both sections CONS: - Sometimes too dirty - Puddles after rain - Not sure if water is clean - Lots of sand which causes dust up that can cause damage to dogs eyes Overall, a decent dog park, not much to do besides watch your dog roam around. My wife and I have met plenty of friendly dogs here and also a decent amount of non friendly dogs. The section for large dogs is bigger than the section for small dogs. Poop bags and water stations are available in both spaces. There are a few benches and tables in each area as well. This park is fairly well-maintained, although it could be better. Most dog owners that I've run into seem friendly and responsible. However, there are some owners that are completely careless and do not control their misbehaving dogs. Watch out for some of the huskies that are brought here (they can get aggressive). Hours are supposedly 7am to 7pm everyday. However, I have run into multiple instances where they have not opened up yet even though it was past 7am. It would be nice if they opened the park in a timely manner.
