Been coming here for years upon years, a solid dog park for the locals. They separate the dog park between smaller and large dogs which is a good thing to see to avoid any extensive harm, etc. It's often pretty clean here but occasionally, you'll see dogs poop and people not being responsible picking up the poop. There's some obstacles around in both sections but dogs don't really use them. Not much shade around, people usually stand by the wall or sit on the benches. There's a couple tables in the big dog section though with umbrellas for shade which is nice. The big dog section is certainly way bigger than the small dog section. They're able to explore more, and sniff around all around. PROS: - Small dogs vs Big Dogs section - Big space for big dogs to roam around - Free poop bags - Water fountain in both sections CONS: - Sometimes too dirty - Puddles after rain - Not sure if water is clean - Lots of sand which causes dust up that can cause damage to dogs eyes Overall, a decent dog park, not much to do besides watch your dog roam around. My wife and I have met plenty of friendly dogs here and also a decent amount of non friendly dogs. Usually owners are responsible but you'll often find that sometimes there's dog owners that are just on their phones and not watching their dog. read more

Adequate local dog park for socializing your dogs. There are separate yards for large (over 25 lbs) and small (25 lbs or less) dogs. The section for large dogs is bigger than the section for small dogs. Poop bags and water stations are available in both spaces. There are a few benches and tables in each area as well. This park is fairly well-maintained, although it could be better. Most dog owners that I've run into seem friendly and responsible. However, there are some owners that are completely careless and do not control their misbehaving dogs. Watch out for some of the huskies that are brought here (they can get aggressive). Hours are supposedly 7am to 7pm everyday. However, I have run into multiple instances where they have not opened up yet even though it was past 7am. It would be nice if they opened the park in a timely manner. read more

Went to the small dog area and even though there weren't many other pups there, it still felt like an area that is really small. The big dog side is much longer and more interestingly laid out for dogs to explore. There is also no shade at all, which makes it hard for me and my black puppy to find any respite from the heat. Hopefully there will be upgrades in the future because I do like to take my pups to different parks to explore! read more

Woot! I'm so happy they opened a dog park right next to my house so I can take my pup there on his walks. I usually go to the Fletcher Dog Park in El Monte but that's a bit of a drive whereas I can just walk to this dog park. The dog park is separated by weight, one side being less than 25lbs dogs and the other side being bigger dogs above 25lbs. There are definitely more big dogs at the park rather than small so I sometimes let my pup go on the big dog side so he can have some friends. There are poop bag stations, water fountains, and even a small fountain on the outside so dogs can wash up before going back into the car. There's also a little track alongside the patch of grass which I occasional walk around it while my pup plays. They also close in the mornings on Thursdays because thats when they do cleaning/maintenance. Pretty cool that they have events too, I recently just went to their St "Paw"tricks's day even and my pup wont the costume contenst! Love this place! read more

Currently at the park right now and it's a bit sad that there's barely any dogs here, but it is quite peaceful and clean here. This is more of a lowkey dog park and if you're dog is wild and loves to run around, this is the best park for your furry friend lol. I often visit Alice Dog Park, but what I like most about here is that the benches and tables are actually okay to use. It doesn't reek of urine or poop, and the benches and tables here actually feel well kept. read more

I'm pretty picky when it comes to dog parks. I prefer there to be actual grass but I understand that living in LA, that's not always possible--especially during times of drought. How I rate dog parks are based on the following: 1. Gound covering: Grass earns highest marks followed by grass-dirt combo. Astroturf, just dirt, and wood chips earn the lowest. (I hate wood chips, they visually hide everything so you'll often step in dog crap that's hard to see and dirt clouds goes flying with every step you or your dogs make). 2. Size: can my dog run laps or just basically trot in a small circle. Also, is the park is split into large and small dog areas. 3. Drinking fountain: every good dog park need this and it shouldn't be some rusty, crusty, algae and moss forming spout. 4. Irrigation: sounds odd but it goes tandem with the drinking fountain and ground covering. If there is no drainage in place, then the drinking fountain area may become a muddy or still water pond. Similarly, without proper cleaning and irrigation for astroturf parks, urine that is not regularly washed away will result in an entire park smelling like baked dry urine. 5. Amenities for Humans: places for me to sit or stand under shade while my dogs runs around. Also, is there a double-gated entry? Are there poop bag dispensers? Are there pooper-scoopers with multiple trash cans throughout? I do not rate on people because that cannot be controlled. You may encounter horrible people/dogs at the park who do not frequent it on the day of your visit. Similarly, you may meet the nicest people/dogs who are out-of-towners simply passing through. Unlike staff who work a business, patrons are a much more volatile variable one cannot determine without multiple, regular visits. Here is how Garvey Paws stacks up: 1. GP has a good combination of gravely paths and areas (which are supposed to be grass). On my visit today, I saw a decent amount of grass/vegetation but I would bet that's because of all the recent rain we've had. It wouldn't surprise me if most of the grass areas are normally dead and dirt (esp in the summer). 2. There are pens for both large and small dogs. Both are just ok in side but the larger dog pen has some length to it for playing fetch and running your dogs. 3. There are drinking fountains within both pens. Irrigation looks ok. 4. Theres no drainage near the large dog fountain but the fountain in the small dog area was on a slap so the water could drain away. Beyond that, there were 1 or 2 patches in the big dog area where water collects and turns into mud, but overall the slight inclines do well enough to direct water away. 5. This is where this park shines. There are multiple trash cans with poop bags next to each. There are 4 covered tables and 3 benches in the large dog pen while the smaller has 2 covered tables and two benches. The larger dog area also has some agility stations. There's also a rinse station before both dog areas where you can rinse off your pup, nice on a hot day... but drying them off is your problem. Last, and this is a big plus IMO, the dog park is behind some tennis courts so there's like an ENDLESS supply of clean and fresh tennis balls! After balls get hit into the dog pen, no one seems to want them so better for the dogs. The one thing which could be a plus or minus is the area between the parking lot and the dog pens. It a large single area but maybe a bit too big? I found myself having to wait for others to prep their dogs going in and out as well as deal with much larger dogs using the area for play. I've found parks with multiple, smaller transition spaces to be easier to navigate. This was a great dog park, and the people I saw when I went were very friendly. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 is the dead, patchy grass areas. read more

Garvey Paws dog park was a great size, clean, equipped with dog water fountains and doggy bags, shade, benches, and plenty of grass. This will be our go to for doggy socialization time. read more

Really happy to find out that Rosemead has opened a dog park! I came on opening day and my dog had a blast. Parking is not horrible, usually can manage to find a spot in the parking lot. But if the parking lot is full, there is always street parking or the other side of the park. Like most dog parks, there is a small dog side and a big dog side. At this specific park, any dog over 25 pounds will be considered a big dog in this park. The first gate you go through, the area is shared, so it's best to leash your dog if others are coming in and out. Both sides have benches, tables, poop bags, and water fountains. The small dog side is pretty standard size and has good enough space for little dogs to interact and run around. The big dog side is "T" shaped, great for running but be aware that the tennis court(tennis court has covers on the fences) makes a huge blind spot. You cannot see one side of the big dog section from the entrance and those that are standing on the water fountain side cannot see incoming dogs. I think the best place to stand and watch dogs is the middle or the side with the small dogs. Also, the teeter-totter is kinda weird and very angled, can't really imagine a dog using that. Other than the blind spot issue I have, it's an overall great dog park and I would continue to bring my dog there. read more

The park is clean. There is a water fountain and trash bags available. The area for the large dogs has some obstacles. While the small dogs area is just an area for them to run around. Loved visiting this dog park. Perfect for any dog that loves to run around and explore. Our corgi mix had the best afternoon frolicking in the grass of the small dog area with so many new doggie friends. There's great benches all around the grassy area and a few tables with shade in the corner of the small dog area. Right behind it, the large dog area offers a long pen for dogs to run across and back, with a good mix of grass and dirt patches. There are even a few fun obstacles for the pups to interact with. They were a bit too large for our boy's stubby legs, but could be lots of fun for larger dogs. Also a few tables there for owners to sit if desired, as well as a few nice clean benches. Fountains available in both the large and small pen for the dogs, in addition to waste baskets as well as poop bags. Everything you need. Relatively large free parking lot in the front. Just an overall five star experience and we'll definitely be back soon. read more

Well maintained meaning the grass is green and healthy and patrons are doing a good job picking up after their dogs. It's only a year old come 3/17/24 so everything is in good condition with awnings towards the rear. We used the small dog park and my pup loved being off leash and exploring. Only 1 other dog there so not a lot of socialization that night but the other dog owner says it does get busy on the weekends. It's so nice to have one nearby now and in good condition. read more

I had a little trouble finding this dog park so just park near the end of the block when you navigate towards it on Google maps and you'll see the sign Owners seem pretty good at picking up after their dog here. However i dont think they empty the trash because when i went there on Sunday morning the big dog trash can was completely full. There's a gate that lets you enter the big dog area from the small dog section & vice versa so you don't have to walk to the front gate. Washing station if ur dogs are muddy and a bonus point for the random free tennis balls that come over from the tennis courts. read more

First time here at this off-leash dog park. Before coming here I read some park visitors' reviews that they close the park for cleaning and maintenance on Thursday mornings which made me think that it'll be a clean park, but sadly it isn't so. So happens that today is Thursday and I came here to check it out in the morning around 10 AM well looks like some visitors didn't pick up after their pups because while walking around the place I could see dog poop and the grass is in poor condition. It doesn't look like anyone is keeping up with the place. The upside is that there are friendly dog parents with super cute dogs. Would I visit this place again? I don't know. read more

I'm glad to see a dog park closer to home. Though it's still fairly "new" so I don't think many residents know about it. I've visited at least 5 times in the last month and each time it was only me (and my 2 dogs) with maybe 1 other dog and its owner. It's a solid dog park with the expected amenities - dog poop bags, water fountain, benches, some playground equipment (Large Dog Area only), and the added picnic tables are a plus (nice to sit and have a small snack and just more space to place things like leashes, toys, and whatnot). The biggest feedback is simply maintenance of the lawn on both the small and large dog areas. The grass is patchy, very uneven (watch where you step!), too much dirt where it's supposed to be grass, and accumulates large puddles of water after rain causing mud. Additionally, the gates also do have a lot of urine stains on the ground, which isn't the most pleasant to see/smell while entering, but expected. Earlier reviews from 10 months ago (as of January 2024) show much more lush and green grass, so I think it's been poorly kept and definitely needs some groundskeeping attention. I hope the City is able to maintain this dog park because it's a nice addition for the community. But again, it's a solid dog park and worth a visit. read more

The park is OK smells like pee. Nobody was cleaning their dog's poop. On the big dog side, there was this guy with a very aggressive, pitbull that he will not get his dog under control. Animals are animals but if the owner is not doing anything to avoid getting their aggressive dog under control maybe the owner need training. very rude people overall won't be back here. read more

It's a good dog park. However, some people do not pick up after their dogs, some people smoke, and some people do not train their dogs. One dog owner in the heavier dog section could not stop his dog from humping my dog. My dog was visibly bothered, but the owner of the other dog had the audacity to even ask if I wanted him stop his dog. Like, what? That should not even be a question. Other (and who are decent) dog owners if they see their dog humping another dog, they take their dog away immediately. Some people should not have dogs. They can't even train them. This by the way happened twice with the same dog owner! Another dog was also attacking my dog's face and the owner of the dog did not even care to stop. I'm so happy I found this dog park. One it is nice to have a dog park close by. And two this park is clean and well maintained. I was taking my puppy to the Alice dog park in Pasadena but this is my new go to dog park. The owners of the dogs are all friendly. There are two sections one for small dogs (25 lbs and smaller) and one for big dogs (25 lbs and over). I went in the morning around 8am but there were no doggies around. I found the best time is to go after dinner around 6:30pm. There were a lot more dogs during that time. read more

I have been to this dog park numerous times and my dog and I love it. For the most part, the dogs and their owners are friendly. There are a few who keep to themselves, including the dog. In fact, a handful of dogs I have come across don't even want to interact with other dogs. And today, a pitbull attacked my dog. Owners need to be more judicious about taking their dog to a dog park. Not all breeds are capable of interacting with other dogs. For the safety of the dogs and owners who enjoy this dog park, please do not bring dogs who can be aggressive and unpredictable. read more
