Small little dog park in downtown, this small stretch of land tucked in a corner in Arts District seems like the most unlikely place to dedicate a community space for dogs of LA. This place definitely needs a much needed upgrade from the city, and even a bigger lot space (though expensive in LA). My favorite part is the random fire hydrant smacked right in the middle, but there isn't a large area of varying landscape to keep my goldie interested. The sandy area isn't too crowded the times I go, and it serves as an excellent stop anytime when I'm in the area with my dog. read more

Not impressed. In order to enter the dog park you need to scan the QR code at the gate, subscribe to their email, and presumably donate some money just to use their park. I did not donate any money and they in exchange did not produce a gate code for me to enter with my dog. There was another visitor inside the park when we were trying to go in who was kind enough to help us enter the dog park anyway to check it out When you enter there is a very small strip of dirt in the right side of the park which is presumably for small dogs? Not sure because it didn't have a whole lot going on there. There is another small section on the left side with wheels and some benches where the other dogs were playing This park is on a very small lot of land, and does not appear to be well maintained at all. The entry gate, which opens when you enter the code is tricky and difficult to open. Adding to the experience is the fact that reception is very touch and go in the arts district area for my phone (and I have Verizon so I think it might be because of all the buildings there?) There is a decent amount of leftover dog poop from previous visitors who failed to pick up after their pooch. There is no water for your dog so BYOW for your pets. After a couple of runs in this park my dog was done with it. I don't think I'll be returning again read more

I'm not a huge fan of this dog park but if you live around here, it's better than nothing. Please keep in mind that I've only been to two other dog parks and they were all a lot bigger than this one. We walked by it and it smelled so terrible that we didn't even go in. We found free street parking on Mateo around 4 PM on a Saturday. When we went there were only a couple of dogs there. The ground was just dirt without any grass. There were two sections, one for big dogs and the other for smaller dogs. Although I am grateful there is a dog park in downtown LA, it's unfortunate that it isn't a better one. Because it's not a very good dog park, owners tend to not bring their dogs here so there are very few of them to socialize your dog with. If your goal is to socialize your dog, I'd take them to another dog park. read more

Access to the private dog park is via subscription and payment.  The gate code is sent to you through email.  After 30 minutes, 5 patrons, and 8 dogs waiting for entrance, we discovered out that you needed to input the code and then push the latch down, then down, up, and then push.  Please take care of the latch. read more

I will not be back . Recently they have divided the park into two parts. One for dogs and the other for children. My guess is something happened recently were a dog attacked someone. while we were there in the evening, we visited after going to Urth and took our dog in upon immediately coming inside There was a lot of owners on their phones, not watching their dogs, and I knew the right thing to do was keep my dog on a leash encase, one of the dogs comes to attack my dog, sure enough an Asian guy with a giant husky completely white let his husky come near my husky, and his dog pounced on my dog immediately I had to get between the two of them and the owner was standing within a foot from his dog, and did absolutely nothing but stand and watch and his arms crossed. I grabbed his dog by the face and removed him from the situation, he didn't do nothing at all to stop the situation almost immediately after my son, who was with me, walked a little bit further on his own, when a bigger, brown dog again unattended, because the owners are too dumb to get off their phones and pay attention to their kids a.k.a. their dogs didnt stop there dog from growling at my son almost nearly attacking him. Dony come here unless you're ready to watch your dogs stay off your damn phones. read more

There was so much hoopla about this park that I had to check it out. It's smaller than I anticipated, but is laid out well with an amphitheater and tables and chairs and a nice play area. It could use more shade, though, and it's supposed to be a park for everyone but mostly seems to be used for folks to bring their dogs, so it smells a bit like pee. The park was lonely, which I loved . But it's very dirty . Owners have not picked up after their dogs, and so there's poop all over the place , even though there are pooper scoopers . There's plenty of shade because it's near downtown, next to an industrial building . However , there's loose dirt everywhere and my dogs got filthy. Also, there are these tiny thorny balls everywhere , I guess they fall from the trees. My dog kept getting them stuck in his paws . Will not be coming back. read more

This is a volunteer-run dog park and not government funded. I appreciate the efforts on creating a local dog park for arts district residents. However, the park seems underutilized and not well maintained. The ground is all dirt, which means bath time afterwards to wash off all the dust. The park is located at an awkward corner of a busy intersection and there does not appear to be any designated parking. It is easy to miss this park unless you are looking for it. I brought my pup here once, and it was the loneliest dog park I ever did see; my pup was the only one there on a weekend afternoon. I did see a flyer that they may start a community garden in the park as well. Hopefully this will bring more life to the space. read more

Everytime I come here the gate is locked but advertises that the door is unlocked from 5 am to 11pm. I tried to enter the website ADdogPark.org and the website doesn't exist or can't be found. Tried to call the number attached to this place and it was as if the line is disconnected. Not sure how people use this park. Also there's lots of loose trash, plastic wrap, etc near the entrance of the park. Looks pretty unkept in my opinion read more

Great park close to home. I love that they have the pooper scooper option in lieu of the plastic bags. Well maintained areas and clean fountain to use to fill up your doggy dish. My dog loved playing around and exploring the area. We went quite early so there were no other dogs to play with but we will certainly be back. I imagine the major challenge would be parking at prime times but there are many lots nearby. Lots of bars, restaurants and coffee shops within the area too for those interested in a walk before or after the park. read more

FIRST TIMER REVIEW: first off, this park is literally at the corner next to the street sign & traffic light. It is pretty easy to miss it but as you turn right on Molino, immediately look to your right and there it is. Now we moved to the LA area and wanted a nice dog park for our Yorkie and looked on Yelp. The overall star rating on this was pretty deceiving. The entire place was a patch of dry dirt, no shade, lots of old tennis balls & just didn't look like a nice dog park. No dogs were here when we came and the small dog zone was SMALL. Too small for our Yorkie. Luckily since no dogs were around, we used the large dog area and had him run around a bit. First impression right off the bat was oh it's small and no grass at all. Our dog got to run around a bit and he pooped so we used the pooper scooper that was there but it was pretty difficult to use & some other dog previously there didn't pick up their poop. Overall, just wasn't as great as we'd like it and ended up trying to find another dog park in the area. Probably won't come back here unless the park goes through a makeover. read more

I live in a loft down the street from this park and it was a LIFESAVER for me when my dog was young. You have to wait until your puppy is four months old and has all of his/her shots before you can take them to any park. It seemed to take SOOO LONG before he was old enough to go, but as soon as he was it was the best way to wear him out every day. There's a good community of people that come to the park, mostly in the evening after work. Most people and dogs that come at that time know each other and are very friendly and informative when new people and dogs show up. Of course, since the park is open to the public you do occasionally have a few bad apples. If people are violating the rules posted by the door you can always point them out to them. I'm kinda perplexed that someone would give the park a bad review because of the experience with another park-goer. It's kinda like giving a store a bad review because you thought another customer was rude. There's two big trees in the park for shade and a couple of benches for people to sit on, though it's probably best to stay on your feet and keep an eye on your dog, especially if there's a lot of other dogs around. There's also a water fountain for the dogs so no need to bring water and there are pooper scoopers to cut down on the amount of plastic bags in the landfills. For the people who complained that there is no grass in the park, it really isn't feasible in a park this size. Nevermind the cost of adding sprinklers and having a costly water bill, the dogs would destroy it! The Pasadena Dog Park has grass because their park is large enough to fence off sections of the park at a time and let the grass grow back before allowing the dogs back on it again. A layer of new decomposed granite was recently added to the park and that makes a nice, soft surface for the dogs to run on. Yes, they get dusty but I just wipe mine down with a wet wash cloth when we get home and that usually gets most of it off. Another thing a lot of people don't know is that this park is not run by the city. It was founded by a neighborhood organization called LARABA, the land is being loaned to the community by a private owner and it is completely funded by donations and maintained by volunteers. I am so appreciative of this park that I signed up to volunteer and help raise donations for the park to keep it running. Besides the dog park near Grand park, Saslow is the only other dog park located in downtown. This is definitely a hidden gem in downtown - it's located off of 4th street in the arts district near Urth Caffe which is convenient. I've been here a few times (like 3) and for the most part it's pretty quiet which is nice. The park seems a bit lonely, but personally I like that since the other dog parks I have been to (Marina Del Rey & Silver Lake) are so busy and full of so many dogs. This is a good park if you have a shy more timid dog! read more

It's like a beach in the city, except that there's no babes in bikinis, no water, no breeze, no babes in bikinis, no bon fires, no sunset, and no babes in bikinis!! It's as barebones as the name. Very lonely spot without much activity. Dusty and kind of muddy - there's trash in the tree wells. This spot desperately needs an update from the city - there is almost no room for dogs big and small to run. My husky, Fish, was definitely less enthused than at other LA spots. As the previous review says this park is a work in progress made possible by volunteers, donations and hard graft. My dogs and I couldn't be happier to have such an amazing asset in our neighbourhood. The dogs that go there are all well behaved and well socialised, the people are very friendly too. It is small but there is enough room for running, fetching and having a good time for even the largest dog. There is a small and timid dog area and big dog area. Bring your own water because there are no fountains yet. Busy times are 8:30am and 5:30pm. Highly recommended. read more

WARNING!!!!!! I took my pup here last week and he was injured by the small spiky thorn balls that fall from the tree. He started limping and crying and I had to rush him home to figure out what the problem was to find..... three small spiky thorn balls jammed deep in his little paws. I am so mad that I drafted in part this review at the park. My puppies are well trained, they frequent dog parks and they even dog daycares regularly. I and my girlfriend are dog professionals which mean we watch, interact and are professional involved with dogs as a career. Just to give you a little background on who we are. Anyway on my day off I decided, "why not walking my pups down to the park?" and we were having a good time when we got there. They were happily running and playing with a lovely little frenchie/chi mix. In comes a small black lab/corgie looking mix who immediately ruins the fun. The owner lets her dog who was already growling at the fence run into the large area and immediately starts a fight with my belgian shepherd puppy. My dogs are very docile and even when my shepherd was on the floor submissive to the black dog, the woman just shouted but would not come to get her dog. I collect my dogs and usher them into the small area. The woman then has the NERVE to come to me and say, "well good thing you moved them. Vinnie is an instigator." WHY ARE YOU GOING TO BRING AN INSTIGATOR TO A DOG PARK?! Fuming, I play with my dogs in the small area while her dog is happily running around. The woman comes back and says to me, "I can move my dog if you want" I wonder why this wasn't her first thought. I decline because we are going to leave and she says, "oh well good" Saslow Dog Park, maybe you should post some rules about good dog behavior at the dog park specifically if you dog comes in and starts a fight and you already know he is prone to it, NOT TO COME. BEWARE of hipsters living in the lofts that don't really know about their dogs or dog behavior and BEWARE of a lady named OLIVIA (negligent dog owner from my review) and VINNIE (black dog from my review). read more

We checked out the park for the first time this past week, and had a great experience. It was pretty dusty and my pup left a dirty, muddy mess, but she had a wonderful time. The dogs and their owners that were there were super nice and everything was very controlled and supervised. I didn't have any reservations about letting my puppy off leash. While the park isn't the prettiest of them all, I absolutely love that locals have access to a spot like this in the middle of the arts district. Not only that, the sidewalk chalk "graffiti" is a fantastic touch! HUGE shout out to the kind soul who found my wallet there and returned it to me without a hassle. Girl, if we are ever there at the same time, I owe you a drink! I would've offered it then and there, but I was too shell shocked about losing the damn wallet to have my wits about me. Diesel is my 2 year old Cairn Terrier and I love him to pieces. I am very protective of him and look to provide him only good doggie adventures and experiences. I was on Spring Break from work and was able to bring him to this dog park on the whim after shopping in the DTLA Flower District. It was my first visit to any dog park, but I could see the benefits of bringing my high-rise apartment dwelling doggie to a natural location. Parking was unclear, but that didn't deter me since there wasn't a lot of people around. The park was clearly mark and had an artsy vibe to it. I let Diesel loose in the "big boy" area (there are two gated playrooms) and I saw him suddenly feel free! For Diesel, this area must look big, but he immediately took to the area and sniffed around like a little detective. My heart grew big. At the time, there was only one dog (Max the Lab) that greeted him. Two others joined later. All the dogs and their owners were kind and treated the space respectfully. It's a bare-bones operation, but I never hate anything that is free and created out of the good-will of volunteers. There is a water station, a disposal station, a crate of tennis balls and a couple of key stations for dogs to mark themselves. I use this park quite often. The busy times are around 8:30am and 5:30pm. I watched this dog park grow from a local tenants idea to the lovely spot it is now. Yes, it's dusty, even muddy on a rainy day but this park came together thanks the hard work of locals with very little funding and I think that's awesome. It's great that they were able to get enough donations to have a tap put in for water and plant some trees for shade. There is a little "air lock" gate for letting your dog off the leash before entering and you can enter the big section for large or confident dogs or head into the smaller timid section. The rules are posted, there are poopy bags, trash cans, scoops, benches, doggy toys, water bowls and good fencing. The city doesn't fund this spot from what I know so I think the founders did a great job and it's all there for us dog lovers to use for free. I think it's unfair to rate this place with one star or a bad review based on some idiot who can't control their dog who happens to be there the same as you. Thats not a reflection of the park - thats a person being dumb. Every venue has eejits to wreck your buzz. The park itself is great. Yes! Grass would be lovely- where's the chip-in page for the seeds/planting/sprinklers? I'll gladly donate again. read more

It's a great place for all those who live in apartments and dogs need to get out for a while but it's super small in my opinion.. however if u need a quick pit stop or live super close then Im sure it's amazing !! Pros: the park is clean, has an adequate amount of shade and seating and the artwork is beautiful. Cons: it is TEENY. For a dog looking to burn off steam, the small dog side doesn't provide much more room than an apt. I went with my pup on a Saturday morning on a gorgeous day and there wasn't a single soul in sight. Not sure how well utilized it is. For me, social interaction is a main goal of the dog park experience. FYI: Street parking. Wasn't a problem at that time of the week/day. I can imagine this is a nice resource for people who live nearby but I wouldn't travel from outside the neighborhood again to visit. read more

Although it's in a lonesome, maybe creepy area, it's a good park. I actually like the fact that it isn't so packed with people and dogs. I wish there were more dog parks around my area, seeing as this park is the closest which is 4 miles away.The space isn't huge, but it gets the job done. Besides, I don't think many people go all at once. I was the only person there when I arrived. As time passed, several people would come and go. People were friendly and always kept an eye on their companion. Rosie met two friends and had a blast. I also enjoyed watching her by being so playful. Overall the space is clean, every owner would pick up after their dog. The park provides poop scoopers as well. They also have a secluded area for smaller dogs. Good amount of space. Lots of dirt but manageable. It has 2 separate areas. Parking can be a bit of a drag. It's only street parking. We came by a not so busy time. My dog was able to play with another dog but not very long. Plenty of dog shade. Only 2 benches. Luckily one bench is covered in shade. There is small dog droppings throughout the park, don't know why people can't pick it up. The dog provides sweepers for picking up their poop. I like that there are small tennis balls. Grateful for this park! Space for large and small. Water and poop scoops. People are good about emptying poop cans into trash can right outside. There's a sign that reminds that this is "our" park and I believe people treat the park this way. We've emptied the cans on occasion but often find that it has been emptied. This is not only my first time at this particular dog park but also my first time taking my Jack Russel Terrier *Zoey* to a dog park so I was excited and kinnda nervous going into it. For starters parking wasn't super hard to find. Some people park in the parking spaces in front of the dog store down the street *Bone Sweet Bone* others park right next to the park. Or there's street parking further down the street thought you'll have a little walk to get to the corner where the park is at. The park itself from the outside looks like a dirt filled mess lol. I liked it because the door was a tough door with a code with no possibility of any dog getting out. The door is always unlocked however and most likely only locked after park hours. Once you enter the black door you're left to decide the fate of your pup. They have to your right an area for "Small Timid" dogs & to the left the bigger dogs or the friendly dogs persay. It was my first time as well as Zoey's so I wanted her to familiarize herself to the area first so we went to the timid dog side. It wasn't long before a friendly dog started wanting to play with her so we took her over to the bigger side. Note that each side has their own entrance and all entrances/exits are one way only. From there she started playing with other dogs and so on. We got there at around 6:10 and there were only 2 other people when we got there. Not too long after other owners began to arrive. Soon it was about 8-10 of us. Soooo many dogs. Some dogs did get aggressive but owners did not do anything about it even though it says that if a dog gets a aggressive you must exit the park immediately. We left at around 7:45 which is the time when everyone started leaving. Zoey got to meet Jori, a puppy named Pattsi, Carl, as well as other dogs. The park itself could use some grass but for it being simply because of donations it's a nice place. They have clean water and bowls available as well as mini poop scoopers on both sides of the areas as well as mini cans, they have tennis balls and random toys for all the dogs to enjoy. Overall this park is great to bring your dog to cool off. The park is completely fenced in with little to no possibility of your dog escaping through a fence which is great considering it's right next to a very highly trafficked street. Will definitely be going back to this dog park :) also with any $20 donation you get a free Arts District Keychain. The cutest part is there's a fire hydrant right in the middle of the park lol. As I was saying if you're looking for your dog to burn some steam off whether it be by them chasing another dog or being chased (Zoey lol) then this is a great place to bring them. People are friendly and generally make cool small talk here. Can't wait to take Zoey again. read more

Seriously underwhelming. I'm so disappointed in this place. I commuted 45 minutes just to bring my dog to this dog park. The reviews made it look great, lots of dogs and great artwork. I got here and there's not another dog in sight. It's super tiny, there's not even a big space so my dog can run and play. And it's SO small that I walked past it several times, not even realizing I'd passed by it. AND, it's flooded! I'm just so disappointed. Please don't waste your time with this park, try Bone Yard in Culver City or another dog park. read more
