I recently moved out of Brookline and I miss eagles as my dry cleaner. It is pricey but I've never had an issue with them. Other places smash your dress shirt buttons or staple your clothes with the tag. Eagles take great care with your clothes. I don't mind waiting an extra day to get my shirt if I know it will be cleaned carefully. read more

If you're like me and you like to wear expensive italian shirts with thick buttons, you know it can be hard to find a cleaner that doesn't break your buttons with their shirt pressing machine. I hate it when the dry cleaner breaks you buttons and then replaces them with some cheapo little plastic thing that doesn't even match. Of the half dozen or so dry cleaners in the three block radius of Coolidge Corner, Eagle Dry Cleaner is by far the best. Not only is all the work done on premise at Eagle, but they have never once broken a button on one of my shirts, or pressed them with the collar stays in, or burned anything. The couple who run this shop are really nice, and they do excellent repairs as well. Also, when I'm walking my dog, they don't mind if I bring him inside with me when I pick up or drop off. They only take cash and sometimes don't have much change, but if they don't have enough $1's they will just add on the difference to your next bill if that's ok with you. Overall, A++++ read more

I chose to take my dry cleaning to Eagle after reading so many fabulous reviews on Yelp and was, unfortunately, extremely disappointed. I found that the prices were very high ($7 for pants, $11 for a dress, and $9 for a blazer) and the service time ridiculously long (1 week for just 1 garment!). I previously had my dry cleaning done at Zips before I moved so I had grown accustomed to same day service at only $1.99 per garment. Because of the high prices I decided to leave just 1 pair of pants to be cleaned. I dropped them off on a Friday and was told they would be ready the following Friday. The man had me write my name and phone number on the slip and gave me a copy. When I returned to pick up my pants after the 1 week period I was informed by the same man that my pants could not be cleaned because "the color was coming off". This would not have been an issue had someone actually called to tell me. What is the point in taking my name and phone number if not for this exact reason? In conclusion, I would not recommend this business. read more

I'm not sure why they call this place Eagle. I have yet to see an eagle in Brookline and it's not that close to BC if you ask me but I digress. Coming from out of town, I was in need of finding a decently priced and yet high quality dry cleaner. My first stop was in this place at 9am on a Saturday. I told the guy behind the counter that I needed a few shirts and pants dry cleaned and I needed back this weekend. He wasn't sure so he went looking for someone and came back and told me sorry. I walked out the door and was about 30 yards away when I heard someone yelling. I kept walking and I heard it again. I turned around and it was the guy from behind the counter waving at me to come back. I go into his store and his wife apparently, fresh up from a nap it appeared, gave me a big smile and said she could do it. I could pick up my clothes at 5pm. They close at six. Not sure what to expect I picked up my clothes and they looked impeccable. I was very pleased with the quality and they were very reasonable. About $20 bucks for 4 long-sleeve dress shirts and two pairs of slacks. For this quality I would expect to pay more in SD. Anyway I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. I've gone a second time and was similarly impressed by the quality of their work which I believe is done on-site which is a rarity these days. I was particularly impressed that they went the extra mile to flag me down when they clearly saw that I was in need. I'd go back for a third time if I wasn't going home. Enjoy. read more

I've come here a couple of times to dry clean some work clothes. I have been very impressed. After some terrible experiences at (Un)Dependable Cleaneres down the street, Eagle has been a welcome change. First off, the service is amazing. The lady always seems genuinely interested in her customers. Whenever I come in pushing a stroller, she opens and holds the door for us. The prices are very reasonable. The service times are good. I can drop off something and expect to have it done in just 2-3 days. I think that's great. I could gripe about their cash-only policy but frankly, that is just good business on their part. Credit card companies mess with small businesses. I have never had any issues with my clothes. Even when I brought some Indian tunics with intricate details, they manage to clean them well and treat them delicately. In my opinion, this is how a dry cleaning place should be. read more

Wednesday comes and I don't hear anything so by Saturday I decide I'll call. I called and he was SO RUDE, he was like I'm busy I can't talk then told me he didn't have my ticket number. He was rude some more, super frustrated that I called and then informed me they have been ready since Tuesday. When I asked why they didn't call he said we don't call people. Hi! My husband went to this cleaners exclusively for ~2 years. The people were very nice. Unfortunately, ~7 of his shirts were damaged over the course of last fall. Specifically, sharp tears (clean cuts) showed up on the sleeves when he picked up his shirts. You can see in the uploaded picture that these cuts are all in the same area. The owners could not believe it was their fault, although it is pretty indisputable. Nice people, but ultimately, a very expensive cleaner when you have to replace your clothes. read more

I just dropped off my satin ball gown thats worth close to $4000 here to get dry cleaned and do a tiny alteration to. When I get it back I'll review, but I went on the reviews of other yelpers so I hope ya'll don't disappoint! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The alteration was exactly what I wanted, the dress came out shiny and perfectly pressed/steamed. They had it for me exactly when I wanted it and they were very friendly... only downfall... I asked for them to make sure that any snags in the dress were taken care of and they didn't do that. My Background with Business: Chan P., who Yelp identifies as the business owner of Eagle Taylor Shop & Dry Cleaning (ETS) located at 240 Harvard Street Brookline MA, has always been very professional with me when I brought dry cleaning and alterations into ETS. I brought items in 5-10 times between 2016-2019, when my wife was living in Brookline. Every time I've been to ETS Chan is who I did business with, it has never been the "older couple" the oldest exclusively positive ETS reviews reference. What trigger this review: About a month ago and 7 days before a multi-week cross country move from Boston my wife ended up with a doozie of a professional clothing cleaning emergency: Red wine, red cake frosting, and black shoe prints from wayward feet on the dance floor all on a champagne-colored full-length formal-wear skirt of high sentimental value. With time short, stakes high and great prior experience at ETS I didn't blink before whole-heatedly recommending we take the dress to Chan. I dropped off the dress with Chan, he was his usual nice, reserved, and professional self. We tweaked the pick up date for the initial cleaning attempt. We set date a few days sooner than usual. We did this so, if needed, there would still be time before our move to remove any remaining stains in the hem by shortening the dress. We explicitly discussed that dress was a difficult clean and at high risk of residual stains and cleaning damage. I told Chan I understood but regardless I wanted him to go ahead with cleaning. Because dress was unwearable in current state, I promised we would not hold Chan or ETS liable for damage or quality of work if dress came back with stains or damage. I even offered to pay ahead of time, which Chan declined. If that was not enough I called my wife on phone in front of Chan to confirm the above plan. She and Chan agreed it was a great plan and I left ETS thinking we'd made a good plan to deal with a terrible clothing emergency. I was in car double parked when my wife went to pick up the dress from Chan 4 days later. Not being in store I will leave it to my wife to go into details of what happened. All I will say is not in a million years would I have expected the TERRIBLE experience she had. See Nisha V. updated review from 26 days ago, at time of this review, for her side of what happened in shop. I was mortified when my wife got back in car and told me what happened. I had recommended Chan and then my wife had the terrible experience she did. We were under so much of a time crunch with move I decided to put my energy and time in the short-term into helping get dress fixed elsewhere, us moved out of Boston, and settled interstate. Now settled, with a cooler head, I'm now taking time to review this traumatic customer service experience. Even a month later, taking time to review what others have said in Yelp reviews about ETS, researching Brookline and MA business public records, and reflecting on the experience I am still furious. The one line turn of phrase to describe my wife I most often use when describing her to a stranger is "she is a pistol." As her spouse, I can tell she is more of a 50-cal sniper rifle than a pistol but pistol is the turn of phrase we all know. Regardless of the type of firearm she is she does not discharge often, when she does she does not miss, and her use of deadly force is always in keeping with her rigorous rules of engagement. Why 1-Star: Knowing and loving that my wife is a pistol Chan's customer service was both unacceptable and inappropriate with my wife and unacceptable to me. I also see a preponderance of evidence that this level of terrible customer service has only happened since Chan P. took over as owner, ETS historically 4+ star rating was artificial elevated by prior owners deserved high reviews, 1-Star events are happening repeatedly, and 1-Star events happens disproportionately to women customers. UPDATE: After my terrible experience here, I took my skirt to Columbus Dry Cleaners (https://www.yelp.com/biz/columbus-dry-cleaners-boston). They were horrified to hear about my experience, and were able to clean the skirt in 4 days so I could still meet my deadline, which I almost missed because of the terrible service at Eagle Cleaners. The skirt looks wonderful after being dry cleaned by Columbus Dry Cleaners! They did an incredible job, and did the whole thing for 30 DOLLARS! This is compared to the $250 that Eagle Cleaners wanted to charge me. Seriously, spare yourself the time, energy, money, and anguish and don't bother with Eagle Cleaners. ---------------------- I dropped off my wedding skirt a day after the event with red wine and icing stains and dirt around the hem. My husband and I wanted to take it to get dry cleaned quickly after the event before the stains set in. We spoke with Eagle Cleaners in person when we dropped it off and discussed with them that we wanted them to try to dry clean it even though some of the stains may not come out. Four days later I went to pick up the skirt as planned. It was sitting untouched in a bag behind the counter. They told me after we dropped it off they had discussed further amongst themselves and were unsure if they could get the stains out. They weren't sure if I would still want it cleaned without a guarantee (although we had already had this discussion when I dropped off the skirt). Instead of calling me to check in, they left it rotting in a bag for 4 days. I was upset to see they had done nothing with the skirt for 4 days and also did not bother calling me so that I could take it elsewhere. When I told the man I was speaking with at the counter I thought this was unacceptable, he became very verbally aggressive. My husband was parked in the car around the corner, and I had to call him and put him on speaker because I felt unsafe. The man then closed his eyes and muttered to himself repeatedly that he needed to "calm down," clearly indicating to me a history of anger management issues. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this cleaners. It is one thing to make a mistake by letting my skirt rot and the stains settle in for 4 days without calling me. Mistakes happen. However, to become verbally aggressive towards your customer in retaliation for your customer pointing out that mistake is absolutely unacceptable. I am a doctor, and my medical community has no tolerance for a physician lashing out verbally or physically at a patient. All of us in the customer service industry have an obligation to treat those accepting our services with respect. This man is not safe to be in the customer service industry, and I would strongly encourage people who do choose to use this dry cleaners to not go alone. read more

This was the first cleaner I've been to in Boston, and I must echo the tag-line, "Yay! I'm a fan." I brought a few pairs of dress pants and a pant suit here, and between the dry cleaning and stitching up a hole in my pants, it was about $30. I thought that was pretty reasonable, especially since this is a once-in-a-while thing for me. Everything looked great when I picked it up! So, once i started working this past year I figured I needed some nice clothes. And lo and behold of course most of my nice clothes needed to be dry cleaned. I haven't had much experience with dry cleaners, but I wanted to find a place that wouldn't ruin my shit. Eagle Cleaners has gone above and beyond "not ruining my shit". Granted nothing I have given them to clean has been super dirty, but everything has come back clean and wrinkle free. It is a small shop run by an adorable and friendly old couple who always greet me with a smile on their faces. Not to mention the prices are more than reasonable. My dry cleaner of choice. Mainly because they're right around the corner. But since I started going about a year ago, I haven't gone anywhere else. The Asian couple that run the store are very friendly and remembered me after my first visit. Not only do they have very reasonable prices (ie. $2 for shirts, $4.80 for pants), their service is very prompt and professional. However, if you're looking for same-day service, you might have to go somewhere else. Everything is hand-washed individually, so it takes a few days. As they explained it, their process prevents any clothes shrinkage. They also do very good alterations as long as you explain exactly what you need done. The only real inconvenience is that they're cash only and not open on Sunday. However, the prices and quality of service more than make up for it. read more

I signed up just to post this review because of how blown away I was by the honesty of the woman who greeted us when we walked in. We had brought in a few down jackets we wanted to dry-clean, and this very sweet woman (probably one of the owners) greeted us and took a look at the tags on the jacket. Then she promptly informed us that the jackets were actually machine washable and suggested that we do that instead! She then started explaining the differences between washing and dry cleaning to us. We asked for for the rates, which she gave us, and basically said there's no good reason to pay a lot more for something we could do ourselves. Again, we were blown away by the honesty and helpfulness. Needless to say, this is the dry cleaning place in Boston we will be going to. Unbelievable experience here. Asked to do a simple hem job on a dress. He takes a look and says he cannot work on my dress because it's "too dirty." I'm shocked because I had literally just pulled it out of a package and tried it on once, and he pointed out one single hair that had been on the dress. You can't make this up!!! He started getting angry and yelled that I needed to leave and I left shocked and confused. I'm assuming he was simply unable to do the hem for some strange reason, but I still can't believe I was yelled out of a store I was trying to give business. Hope this guy gets what's coming to him. This place is TERRIBLE !!!! DO NOT USE! They shrunk my clothes and do not clean!! I dropped off around 4 suits, 3 blazers, and a skirt to be cleaned (all from Ann Taylor except for a skirt). I picked this place because of the positive yelp reviews. Everything seemed fine until the day before I picked up my things. I got a call from them saying they could not clean one of my suits because of the lining used. I thought ok, it happens, its probably my beige suit which is kind of fragile. However, when I get there I am told they could not clean my basic black suit because the manufacturer put in the wrong lining and its not actually dry clean (although the label says it is). I thought that was a bit bizarre but decided to let it go and examine the rest of my clothes. The first thing I pick up is my fragile beige suit. It had a coffee stain on the sleeve which I had mostly taken out except for a little piece where the water (I used to clean it off) had carried the tint down a bit. I had pointed it out when I dropped off the clothes, but there it still was, it hadn't gotten touched at all. When I asked about it, I was told the stain could not be removed, but, if I wanted to, I could pay the full price again and have them try to remove it. I said no thank you, took it home and after about 10 minutes of careful work the stain was gone. (I am so glad I paid for nothing :)!). My second issue when picking up the clothes: I am going through my things, stain discussion is over, and notice that my brown suit is not in a plastic bag. I asked what happened to this one, why is it not in a bag? I was then told they were not able to clean my basic brown suit either because of the same issue with the lining. They quickly grab the money to reimburse me (as they had written me off as leaving after the stain discussion and were already attending to the next customer). I could not believe they did not point it out. And my brown suit was hidden within the other clothes, unlike the black suit which was in front. If I had not taken the time to go through it, I would not have noticed until I got home. At that point I probably would have just thought they cleaned it and forgot a bag, never that they didn't tell me they hadn't cleaned something else. At this point I completely wrote off the place as a no go and decided to be more diligent in my next dry cleaning search. I am not one to write reviews negative or positive. BUT THEN, I am sitting in a morning meeting, wearing a jacket I just took out of the plastic bag and notice the person next to me looking at my sleeve. When I look, there is something dry kind of like crusted on the sleeve. I'm assuming its some sort of soup or sauce that had gotten on it, but I also assumed they would remove it in the dry cleaning process (especially since the process is so rigorous they cannot clean a brown or black suit without the colors bleeding through the incorrect lining and onto others clothes). I was very embarrassed and FURIOUS that something else had gone wrong with Eagle Cleaners. I quickly scrapped it off with my nail (yes that's all it took to get it off, again so glad I paid for nothing!). FINALLY, today I put on a pair of pants and a blazer/sweater I had gotten dry cleaned, ripped them from the bag, only to find out I either gained weight and grew inches or my clothes were shrunk. I compared the pant to another I have (same style and size, different color) and it has significantly shrunk. My blazer is very tight in the arms and too short in the back now. THIS PLACE RUINED MY CLOTHES! Now I am just thinking, THANK GOD they could not clean my other suits! NEVER AGAIN! read more

This place is fantastic. The couple who runs the shop are very friendly. I've brought lots of dry cleaning, as well as pants hemming, zipper replacement, dress tailoring, and a favorite sweater with a hole that got repaired good as new. What I love best about them is that if they are uncomfortable with something you've brought them, they will tell you upfront, rather than risk wrecking your clothes. I brought in a bridesmaid dress that the store ordered for me in a size too small (expecting that it would be able to be let out slightly, rather than completely overhauling the larger size), and the woman at Eagle looked at it and knew that if she let out the sides, there would probably be small holes showing from the old seam. Unfortunately didn't breathe much at that wedding, but the dress looked good! Now I live too far away to go to Eagle and wish I could find someone nearly as good where I am! read more

I've only had one experience here (a $6 jacket), and it was... meh. I'd heard that $4 was the going price for an item like that, but decided to go with them anyway considering the reviews. The couple running the place are VERY friendly and agreed to have it done a day earlier than the woman at the counter initially suggested, but the jacket wasn't pressed in the way that I'd asked. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I've been here about 20 times, bringing everything from jeans, work pants, skirts, and most recently, a skirt piece from my suit. The woman here is so friendly and always gives me great opinions on what the length of things should be. I really trust her - she always just nails it! Also, I love how when I came in with my skirt piece from my suit, she looked at the hem, and told me right away that it would be $32 - way more than a usual hem. She told me this upfront bk it was a very difficult hem to do. Of course, I needed it done, and I would have paid for it anyway, but I just liked that she told me upfront, and I wasn't surprised when I picked it up. The guy, too, is great - he's done some of the tailoring, too - for length of some of my jeans - also excellent. I've never had any problems with this little shop; I just love them! read more

Highly recommended - I bring all of my designer clothing here and they are as careful as can be with it. Great for alterations! I had my suit pants hemmed with no problems and it was fairly inexpensive ($13). I brought them in at the end of the day on a Tuesday and they were ready by Saturday. I have been going to these cleaners for a year now and the elderly couple that ran the place offered a no-frills, ready-to-dry-clean, and organized business. They always set expectations upfront (e.g. when to expect your clothes back, whether the dyes will discolor your linings, whether the material is aligned with their dry-cleaning methods). On the other hand, their return time may have been a bit slow, and may have cost them business. Update as of 01/06/2015: The shop has changed owners. They have upgrade their payment system to a digital one, but the storefront, décor and facilities remain largely the same. From everyone's raving reviews, I took my beloved silk dress to this cleaner. I am very disappointed that the inside of my dress was not cleaned. While the outside looks great, they completely missed the inside lining. When I called about it, they said they did their best. But if that's the case, I expected them to tell me about when I was picking up, and not for them to make this excuse when I called them about it afterward. This goes to show that I should always check my clothes at the cleaners to make they're really clean. I really like this place. I primarily use them for alterations (a sad fact of life when you are 4'11'') and they do a really good job, inexpensively, with quick turnaround. I paid $44 to alter 1 pair of jeans and 3 pairs of dress pants (one of them was lined), which is not bad in my extensive experience getting pants shortened, especially for the peace of mind of knowing that your nice new pants won't end up as high-waters. Cash only, but they are a block away from an ATM and you can pay either when you drop off or pick up. They are open 7am to 7pm Monday through Saturday. I had been using Eagle Tailor's for years and stuck with them when they changed ownership. Didn't have much to dry clean the last few years. Recently however, I dropped off a number of items. When I picked them up one blazer's lining had been completely ripped in the back and on the sleeves. She showed it to me without much explanation but offered to fix it. No thank you ma'am. I'd rather have a professional who doesn't ruin clothing to begin with address this. Additionally a vest with a stain I pointed out when dropping it off was returned to me with several water marks all over it. They told me it was deodorant marks. Deodorant marks in the middle of the vest??? The ruined clothing was one thing and then the lies were just too much. Will NEVER be going back to Eagle Tailor's again and would warn anyone of this establishment. Take your dry cleaning elsewhere. read more

I was looking for a good dry cleaning place near my work and I saw this had good reviews on Yelp. I went in with a ton of clothes-mostly dresses. From the get-go, they told me they couldn't launder two of my items (despite the label saying dry clean only). Today I picked up my items and it turns out they also didn't do one of my dresses. They refunded me (of course). I just got home and my dresses still smell...they look nice so I guess they steamed them, but skipped on the cleaning? Definitely not coming here again. read more

Great dry cleaner! I've had sweaters and dress pants cleaned by them, and they do a wonderful job for a very reasonable price (less than other places in the Brookline area). They are cash only, as others have mentioned, and don't have same day service, but are very reliable and provide great quality cleaning. I never have to worry that my clothing will be ruined or come back stretched out (as I've seen happen at other places). read more
