I was so impressed with Julie's work altering a bunch of my jeans. Over the past few years I have gone through some major weight fluctuations. That, combined with my love for expensive designer jeans meant I had a pile of jeans I loved, but no longer fit right. Faced with the decision to donate or toss in the trash, I was heart broken. Julie saved ALL of my pants.. from waist size, lengths and pant leg widths. Pricing was so fair for the amount of work I know she put into this job. My fiancé and I were both amazed because the pants looked like they were never altered. Even after attempts to find were she Cut and sewed... we couldn't find it at all. We love this store. I don't know what I was thinking, but brought two fancy dresses here to get dry cleaned. Probably should not be bringing those types of garments to the middle of allston...I take full responsibility for not doing the research beforehand, but would still like to write this review to make sure that no one else damages 500 dollars worth of clothing. Both dresses came out ruined with faded black marker like streaks with threading pulled...I'm a very reasonable person and approached the owner in a polite and calm manner, but once she heard where my conversation was going, she just completely started to ignore me. It got to the point where I said that I would have to involve the better business bureau if she would not talk to me. She grabbed my dry cleaning stubs, proceeded to rip them apart, and threw them in the trash (!!!), I think to destroy evidence that my dry cleaning came from her store. I'm sure she's great for tailoring, laundry, and maybe even very simple dry cleaning. But I'd shy away from bringing anything special. Do your research and bring them to an experienced dry cleaner!! read more

I used to be a fan of One Stop Cleaners, but lately, I've been disappointed. Their dry cleaning is fine as long as there are zero stains on your clothes. If you actually have any stains that need addressing, they simply won't get them out. I work in a restaurant and have to wear white button-down shirts and sometimes, there are food/grease stains. And One Stop seems to not be able to even fade them, much less get them out. I have started taking my shirts to Dependable Cleaners in Brookline and the stains magically disappear. Also, the owner initially would charge me $2 to starch/bleach my white shirts, and now curiously, she charges me $3-4 a shirt, which is pretty outrageous. For convenience, I still take some clothes to One Stop, provided they are just dirty from general wear and have no stains. Oh, and they also lost a fabric belt that was part of a dress I had dry-cleaned there. Belt was kind of central to the dress, so I can't really wear it anymore. Sucks. read more

I love this place! We actually decided to start using it because my boyfriend saw the owner washing the windows in freezing cold weather and said if shes willing to do that then she must be dedicated to her business! We have dropped off suits, shirts, my long wool coat, and a few other minor things for repairs and cleaning and everything has been done perfectly! I thought my wool coat was ready to be trashed because the lining was so ripped up but they fixed it up and you can't even tell that there was ever anything wrong with it! The prices seem VERY reasonable to me (then again I used to live in the South End where dry cleaning prices are astronomical) and they are open 7 days a week, fairly late, and have a very quick turn around. The woman was nice and very straight forward. The service was quick and all my clothes came back clean and ready to be put away. Probably won't use the service all the time. In my two years living in Allston, I have utilized nearly every dry cleaning service this woman offers. I have had suits and casual clothing dry cleaned (obviously), holes and seams of all sorts repaired, pants hemmed, suits tailored (at first hesitantly, but now I have no reservations with it), stains removed, laundry washed and folded, and even had a leather briefcase repaired. I have yet to find any complaint with the quality of her work. She is incredibly nice every time I come in, and recognizes me (and others, from my experience) by name. Her memory is incredible: every time when I come in, she does not need my receipt as she knows exactly what I have had done and where it is. Her prices are absolutely unbeatable. I have used a few similar services in the Boston area, and have yet to find anyone cheaper for any of her services. Or faster: I have never had an order, no matter how complex, that has taken longer than two days for her to complete. You can really tell a person who lives for his or her work; this person most certainly does. Note: credit card transactions require an order of $10 or more. I note this because some of her cleaning/repair services are so surprisingly cheap, you expect they will be more than $10 when in fact they are less. One time I had two sweaters repaired, and the total was less than $10 - I only had my credit card. Rather than hassle me about it, she gave me a credit on my next order (she knew I would be back anyway; if I were a non-regular she would probably have just taken the card anyway without any issue). read more

I will never go back to One Stop Cleaners. This place had been recommended to me by some friends who said the $1 per pound wash, dry, fold was an incredible deal and totally worth it. Since my apartment building charges $6 total for small washers and dryers ($3 wash, $3 dry), I decided to test our One Stop Cleaners to see if it would actually save me money. For my test run I brought in my bedding: comforter, fitted sheet and 4 pillow cases. The woman, Julie, told me to weigh my items which came out to 9 pounds. I happily offered to just pay the $10 for the 9 pounds, even though it really should have just been $9 because she has a 10 pound minimum. She swiped my card for $10 and told me to come back at 2pm. I came back to get my items and she told me I owed her $8 more...she said that she didn't know there was a comforter in my laundry bag and that she charges $18 to wash/dry comforters. She continuously chastised me for not telling her there was a comforter in the bag, but since it was my first time there and she didn't mention any restrictions to the $1 per pound laundry service, I had no idea I was supposed to disclose to her exactly what I was bringing in to be washed! She never looked in the bag before she charged me and took it. She said she tried to call me but didn't have my number...maybe that's because she never even asked for it. So she continued to demand $8 more dollars before she would return my bedding. I told her that if I had known it would cost a whopping ***$18*** just to wash a blanket and some thin sheets then I never would have brought it in in the first place. I told her I did not want to pay the $8 extra because she never informed me of the added charge before performing the service and that I would have preferred she just not have washed them at all. After an awkward stare down we continued into an even more awkward bartering war. I told her I didn't think I should have to pay $8 extra dollars and she told me she would "give me a special deal" and only take $7. I eventually told her I would give her $5, just to be done with her. She said fine, but if I only had a card she'd have to charge me $10. WHAT A FREAKING RIP OFF. What a stubborn, rude and unprofessional business person. If you own a business and are offering services to people in exchange for their money, it is YOUR job to educate your costumer. It is YOUR job to inform people of additional charges or restrictions. It is YOUR job to ask the right questions and check everything before preforming a service. It's not my job to know these things when I've never even stepped into your shop before. If she really cared about gaining repeat customers and doing good business, she should have taken responsibility for her part of the mishap, made a one time exception, let me take my bedding back with no additional fee, and provided a simple warning that next time it will cost me the full $18. Instead, she got a crumpled up $5 bill and lost a customer who will actively discourage people from ever using her services. read more

I've used One Stop consistently for dry cleaning, occasionally for some sewing/repairs, and once for wash and fold. I've found the service good and the prices very reasonable. I haven't had any serious stains that they couldn't get out. I've had the nice little woman here do a bit of sewing, too, and her prices are great and the quality excellent--if you need something done but don't have a sewing machine, her turnaround is quite fast. The wash and fold service was fast, although I didn't love the way the shirts were folded. Everything of mine was returned, although I did receive someone else's boxer shorts in the mix. I keep coming back here. It's nice to have in the neighborhood. read more

The woman who works here is very nice. It's not a formal affair; you will get a ticket for dry cleaning but if you drop off laundry and she knows you, she might not even ask your phone number. She can frequently get your clothes back to you that day or the next day. If you are new, you might not know how she operates but I think she takes care of you. Two bad tailoring experiences - one visit was 2 pair of shirt sleeves to be shortened, another visit was 2 pair of pants to be shortened Three out of four of these came back still too long. I was still charged 2/3 of the price for the 2nd go at the shirt sleeves, I am waiting to pick up the pants, I don't think she will charge me as the pants are less work than shirt sleeves and she probably feels bad. STAY AWAY!!! I can only speak about my experience attempting to have my Ugg's cleaned here, but it was an ultimate disaster. Dropped off my shoes on 10/14. The owner, Julie, let me know they'd be back in about a week, and she'd call me to let me know when they'd come in. Yes, she explained to me that the do not do 'in house' shoe cleaning, but that they have been working with the same "reputable" shoe cleaner for years. Two weeks later, she phoned, and I came in to get the shoes. She put my Uggs face down on the counter -- when I picked them up to inspect them, I was horrified at what I saw: Two huge chemical stains near the front on one boot. "Julie," I said, "These were NOT here when I brought my shoes to you." She acknowledged that there was a problem, and appeared confident that her cleaner would be able to fix the mess. She told me she would phone in another week, when the shoes were back. Two weeks later, she calls, and says the shoes are in. Feeling rather nervous, I show up at her store today, only to find a modest improvement. The stains are still extremely prevalent, and she shoes, in my opinion, are not wearable. When I asked her if she felt that it was fair to charge me for the service, she became quite angry, and accused me of lying, stating that my "shoes were so dirty, the stains were already there, I just couldn't see them." Um, Im from California. We don't have snow or salt. And i'd worn these Uggs less than 30 times. I just wanted my shoes to look like new, and what did I get? I pair of boots that look a heck of a lot worse than the did before I brought them to One Stop Cleaners. After this exchange, Julie blamed me again, reminding me how "reputable" her shoe cleaners were. She tossed my boots back on the shelf and told me to leave her store unless I intended to pay. Lesson learned. If you want your Ugg's cleaned, take them someplace else. You might end up paying a bit more, but at least your boots will last another season.....unlike mine. read more

I was looking for 24/hour dry cleaning for a wedding. I had a perfectly clean dress that I needed pressed and One-Stop was just right down the street. Upon retrieving my dress and boyfriends tie I was horrified to see they both were ruined. The lady at the counter even acknowledged the fact that my dress had spots all over it. She still charged me and told me to bring it back and she would fix it but couldn't have it in time for the wedding. Long story short, I paid another dry clean service 20 to fix my garments. Wish I'd asked my friends in advance...seems this wasn't the first time! Look elsewhere for service. read more

THIS PLACE IS THE WORST!!!! NEVER GO HERE!! i am going to try and make this story short. basically i kept finding other peoples clothing in my laundry basket after they washed my clothes and each time i would return them. Finally the time came where they lost a pair of my pants, i told the woman and she said she would give a ten dollar gift certificate for my $80 dollar pants(WOW thanks). I tried to be polite and just give here the benefit of the doubt, so i took the gift certificate. A few weeks later she lost another pair of my pants and so i approached her about it, her response was that somehow it was my fault and that she would not pay for the pants. She then told me that she never mixed clothes which is a blatent lie cause i have found MANY other articles of clothing in my laundry bag. So i tried to reason with her, i even said look just give me another ten dollar gift certificate and ill forget about it and be on my way. She started then trying to tell me she didn't speak English which is a load of crap i know she speaks perfectly good English, ive talked to her many times before. I was just flabbergasted at the whole situation, that she had nothing to do with losing my 2nd pair pants and that it was somehow not her fault but was my fault which she refused to explain to me. So it ended up her responding with telling me that she was going to give me the silent treatment and just started staring at me. This is my go-to dry cleaner. Prices are reasonable and she has a fast turn around for pants/shirts (usually 2 days). Hours are great! It's open late enough to grab clothes after work and also open Saturdays and Sundays (although reduced hours). I've been several times and on one occasion a blouse wasn't ready yet so I had to come back the next day but other places have told me to come back in a week for pants so I can't complain. My pants are always returned well pressed. She has also done a nice job on my winter coats, sweaters, and skirts. I came in with a stain on one occasion and pointed it out. She said she'd to her best and was able to get most of it. I'm not sure if other reviews informed her of the stain so she could mark it. First of all, I have to at least say that this tiny woman is magical when it comes to hemming/sewing. She can do anything and it is perfect. But her pricing has become a bit shady. The other day my husband brought in some clothes I needed dry cleaned (yes my husband is probably better than some of your husbands) as he needed the legs of his suit pants hemmed. He was the only one there, and he watched her look at my clothes many times as she wrote down the pricing. He went back today to get the clothes and she charged us 2 extra dollars because she initially put down my dress as a sweater, but then realized it was a dress. Ridiculous, as the dress in question looks nothing like a sweater. I only write that for your own good- whether or not she's busy, make sure when you bring in what you want cleaned to make sure you are both at an understanding as to what the hell she's going to dry clean so you aren't cheated. Yeah, $2 isn't a lot, but I think she was being ridiculous. Otherwise she's a goddess. read more

The woman who works here is so nice. We do not come here often but she always remembers who we are. I can't believe it. It's a small gesture but it makes you feel appreciated. She is very direct about how long it will take and the price is really good. We started coming here with the washer in our apartment broke. It has since been fixed but my boyfriend continues to come here because he hates folding the clothes after he washes them. I guess he is tired of me nagging him about folding haha! Our clothes have always come back clean and very nicely folded and separated. I have never noticed anything missing. I have only ever seen one woman working here, from opening at night to close in the evening. She's nice. The dry cleaning is professional, unlike other places they've never missed stains. Prices seem pretty standard, although the fur collar (heirloom from my grandma, I swear!) had to be sent out because they don't do fur in-house, so it was $20. Be sure to check your pockets and not leave cufflinks or jewelry on your clothes, because they will *not* check for things and will ruin them with the press. read more

This place is amazing for wash/dry/fold service. $1.00 per pound is almost unheard of in the area anymore and the lady who is always behind the counter will get it done the same day. I usually drop it off on the way to work and by the time I'm out she has it done.
