Just had a late breakfast at Eagles Nest. We ordered Biscuits and Gravey. It was disappointing to say the least. The good, Healthy portions. Thje bad, luke warm to cool at best. Not much flavor and very ;ittle sausage. You can get better at Hardee's for about 25% if what Eagles Nest charges. Enjoyed a good breakfast at Eagles Nest Restaurant. Very friendly service with correct orders for all 6 of us dining. The food was very tasty! Most of us ordered the corned beef hash with eggs and hash browns. I normally like a healthy breakfast, but there are very limited health options. The food was still extremely tasty and very affordable! Great place to dine with children. The best thing about this breakfast was that the food came out very fast. The coffee was also better than most diners/breakfast places. Overall, great spot! read more

The Telegraph, a local newspaper did an article on the 10 best places to have breakfast in the River Bend area and Eagles Nest made the list. It's one of those mom and pop diner restaurants that serves comfort food and is only open for breakfast and lunch. They focus on what they do best. I arrived about an hour and half after they opened on a Saturday. I was immediately concerned that there were not that many other diners eating. However, while I was eating the place quickly filled up and what surprised me the most, is as diners entered, the waitresses were greeting them by name. Wow, that is just like Norm being greeted when he entered, Cheers. Since it was my first visit, I went with a basic breakfast. I enjoyed two eggs over medium, bacon, American Fries, a side of Pancakes and of course a cup of black coffee. The reason I'm giving a 3 Star rating is, my eggs were not over medium, my bacon was on the cold side and the potatoes could have been crisper. However, the side of pancakes were a 5. They were fluffy and a light golden color on both sides. Best of all the coffee was strong, hot and my cup was never empty. Every time a waitress passed my table they offered to top my cup. The service was extremely attentive and as I mentioned earlier, all the waitresses knew their regulars by name. Speaking of names, I thought it was so Mel's Diner from Alice, all the waitress wore aprons with their names embroidered on them. That is so old school and cool. My girlfriend and I LOVE looking for great diners. Eagles Nest by a long shot has the BEST FOOD!!! OMG the best diner food in the Metro East! So so good. Great service and so affordable. I have been eating here for years and have never been turned away for my food intolerances. It's not that eagles nest has the best food ever, but they have fast service and I can normally get in and out quickly. I have a gluten and an egg intolerance, but usually order the skillets without eggs and just don't order toast. Understanding this is a breakfast restaurant and also being a whole adult who is capable of making her own health decisions, I have never asked them to accommodate me outside of letting them know why I order the way I do. I understand the risk of eating out... because I live with these issues every single day. I understand mistakes can be made, so I make sure they understand why I order how I do. The last time I went in, my server said they would clean the griddle so I wouldn't come into contact with any eggs. Again, I am not allergic, and I made sure she knew I ordered food there often. Instead of bringing me my order, she came back shame faced and told me the owner asked me to leave because he "didn't want to lose his license". How the hell someone can lose their license for trying to accommodate others is beyond me. In fact, it can't happen, but go off dude. The only risk he'd have with losing his license is if his business was unsanitary, but that is between him and his employees and the health department. I did not ask for them to do anything differently other than take eggs off my food... something I'm sure is pretty common since I know people without a sensitivity or allergy who hate eggs. So this is a warning for those of you with food sensitivities and allergies. This restaurant owner does not want your business. In fact, he will actively use his kind servers to ask you to leave all together, as if your presence in his establishment is against the law. I can still picture the shamed face of his server when she whispered that he wanted me to leave but she wouldn't rush me out if I wanted to finish my coffee that was "on the house". Do better. Lots of people exist with food intolerances. It isn't like I am an anomaly. We deserve to have a night (or morning) out just as much as everyone else, and we know what risks we take when we eat anywhere other than at home. I wish you the best, Eagles Nest, but you ought to be ashamed of yourself. read more

Eat there last night to check it out. I would say they need to hire a new cook because the food was not good. I had the senior chicken liver dinner. The livers were over fried, dry and hard. The green beans were right out of the can with no seasoning and the rice pudding was bland. The service was not great either. We were one of three tables being served and the three servers were too busy having a conversation to check if we needed anything. Dont think we will be eating there in the future. read more

The staff were attentive, friendly, and I read the other reviews so I'll add this, legible writing on the check :). The food is simple fare but very well done and filling. I ate here once, a long time ago, and was not really impressed, but now I think it was just them having a bad day. Or maybe time has improved things. The past two weekends, my wife and daughter wanted donuts from a little place right by Eagle's Nest. I don't do donuts, so the first time around, I stopped in Eagle's and ordered a skillet meal to go, went down, got the donuts and when I got back they had me ready. Fast, friendly, and efficient... and priced right When I got home and opened the box it was exactly what I wanted, and way more food than I expected. So this past weekend, I decided to give it another shot, same results... the food was really good, done just the way I wanted, and almost more than I could eat in one sitting. New regular stop for me from now on. UPDATE: I just realized it's been almost 2 years since I posted the above... we're now in the Nest at least a couple of times a month for breakfast (or breakfast for dinner on the rare occasion) had to bump up the rating from 4 to 5.. you won't find a better spot for breakfast without driving to Gramma's house. read more

Where to begin.... I don't care if a place is busy and I'm not a regular , just say I'll be with you in a minute or something . Nevermind the behind the times decor , we had a large party and had to be seated in the back so they were using those 6 ft plastic tables you use for outdoor events in that section. Talk about nasty ! They looked like they had been used outside regularly . So back to the lousy service , it started with the hostess then went on to the first server I guess? She went to get our drinks and only got half of them then disappeared and never came back lol grabbed the busboy and he got them he was by far the best worker there. The second waitress that stayed around was such a peach ! A rotten one ! Just so unhappy to be there it seemed . So damn rude ! Until my friends husband came in and she knew him because he is a regular there then she turned on the nice for him !!!! Oh yea and the food , NASTY! Hubby and I tried this place for breakfast and were not impressed. We will not be back. Our waitress was not friendly or cordial at the least. We watched other people, that were seated after us, being served coffee before anyone addressed us. At check out, the cashier over charged us cause our waitress's writing was bad on the check. Overall, we felt like unwelcomed tourists. We actually joke about going to the Eagles Nest if we want to have a bad experience. The food was nothing spectacular. This is a pretty decent place. I shoot in a pistol league at Olin and we stop by almost every tuesday for dinner afterwards. This isnt a michelin start rated place and it certainly doesnt serve fancy pretentious food. What it does do is burgers, fries, fried food, breakfast food, and American classics the right way, and at a decent price. Everthing from meatloaf and roast beef to fried shrimp omelets. You cant go wrong and your wont break the bank. I personally order the fried shrimp dinner with a side salad and french fries. I never finish it all and I am a big fella.
