A sit-down ramen chain in a busy plaza mall. There is a moderate amount of seating for small to medium size groups with friendly and attentive staff given the busy location. Regarding the food, the kaarage (fried chicken) as an appetizer was hot and tender, with spicy mayo and sweet chili sauce as a dipping side. Definitely a nice highlight and was enjoyable. The ramen on the other hand, the zebra shio ramen (pork and chicken stock) was definitely packed with flavor in a smaller bowl however did not taste as "clean", with all the extra butter and oils to supplement the stronger flavor. I couldn't finish the soup due to that. I got the extra chasu pork, which was suprisingly more tender then I thought however felt like 25-40% of it was just fat and the amount of slices they gave (normal 2-3 vs extra 5-6) didn't really feel the worth or value of the meal. I felt full afterwards but think it was because I was more bloated from the extra fats. I was satisfied with the service, not so much of the food. I've been going to EAK Ramen since they opened and have eaten inside many times, always with food served in the same to-go style packaging. Today was my first time ordering through Grubhub for convenience since I'm alone with my toddler. The food came packaged exactly the same--but apparently now you can't dine in if you order that way due to their new "full service" model (which was never clearly communicated). The issue wasn't even the rule--it was how it was handled. The waitress watched me get my child fully settled before telling us we had to leave, forcing me to carry everything and my toddler out to the mall seating, then come back for the food. Her attitude was rude and confrontational, with zero empathy. On top of that, prices have increased significantly, which makes this kind of service even harder to justify. The food is good, but not good enough to be treated like this--especially in front of my 4-year-old. Do better. read more

Great tasting ramen for a decent price. Served in a cup instead of a bowl. I was expecting a bowl to be served simply because of the way the menu portrayed it. Plus given that this mall is more upscale, serving in a cup doesn't suit it. Felt like I wasn't given enough meat or noodles because everything was smushed into a small cup. I would eat here again, but I would definitely select add more meat and noodles. I have nothing to say about the service. I ordered through a touch screen tablet, and never once interacted with a person. And honestly, that's not bad in my book! Sometimes not having to deal with people is great. We needed a place to grab quick lunch on Saturday noon, so decided to try out this newly opened restaurant in GSP. The store is next to Macy's watch section entrance. It is mainly self served. You have to put in your order at register and then pick it up when order number is called. They have a huge dining area, with regular/high chairs and tables. We ordered the takoyaki, karaage, shrimp bao, curry over rice with chicken and EAK Shoyu ramen. Impressively, the whole order was ready in couple of minutes. I loved the taste of all the items., especially takoyaki and kareage chicken. Shrimp in the bao was good but needed some sauce. Ramen's broth was tasty. Noodles were good. Overall I was really pleased with the food quality and the experience, being self-served, didn't require paying additional 15%-20% as tip. read more

EAK ramen is located on first level of Garden state plaza. It has open concept, spacious seating, clean and organized. Self service to order and pick up the food. We had signature ramen, curry with rice (a little spicy), karage and shrimp bao. The egg was add on to my ramen. It was good. Ramen broth was rich. Very flavorful. Ramen itself had good texture. Karage was very good. Crispy skin and tender inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You need a key for the bathroom because non-customers could walk in. The only thing I would suggest is use actual bowls, plates and utensils. The plastics make food unappealing. read more

I came here on a Sunday evening after movie because my daughter and I were craving ramen. I've had ramen at three different locations at the garden State plaza and this was my third. Out of the three places this would be the least desirable. It doesn't mean that it's not good. It's just not as flavorful as the other ramen. I got the chicken ramen and it was very meh. I mean ramen is kind of like sex, how bad could it really be. So while it was tasty, it didn't wow me in any way. I would much prefer to go to the other two ramen locations in this mall. The waitress was very nice and attentive and the food came out within 5 to 10 minutes. My daughter also does not like all the fixings in her ramen so I typically ask them to put it on the side and they did that without a problem. The ambiance is pretty cool and it's an open seating meaning you can look out at the mall while you eat. I like two people watch so this was a plus for me. I'm not sure if I would return to this ramen spot as there is some stiff competition at this mall. read more

We stopped by E.A.K. Ramen at Garden State Plaza for lunch today. The restaurant was clean, but there was only one other table occupied, which should've been a sign. The ramen was just okay--I've definitely had better. At $18.80 for a bowl, I expected much more in terms of quality. I understand that times are tough for both restaurants and consumers, but charging premium prices for average ramen feels unreasonable. What really stood out was paying $3.50 for a 12 oz fountain Coke that was mostly ice, with no free refills offered. That felt excessive. There are plenty of other spots in the mall with better food, better drinks, and more reasonable prices--I'd recommend trying those instead. read more

This ramen place is newly opened and I give it a try today for my 1st meal "BRUNCH" the staff is attentive and nice, the service is fast. the dining area is neat and clean. But i was disappointed when I got my ramen it was served in a disposable container then when I tried the broth is very rich in flavor but so much oil/grease every sip of soup broth you can taste the oiliness and the only vegetable in EAK ramen is fresh chopped onions and spinach. And the noodles that they used i am not sure if it is commercial noodle or housemade but I usually taste that noodle in a Chinese stir fried noodle. I am a fan of ramen and a lot of ramen place around fort lee and palisades park is way better and even the food court in Mitsuwa edgewater. Overall let's give them a few more months hopefully they will improve the ramen . read more

The owner should be aware that by 9:20 PM, the staff shut down the restaurant. I went at 9:20 today, asking are the hours not til 10:00 PM and I was told the kitchen closes at 9:30PM. I asked the young lady, then why can't we order, if it is 9:20 PM. She looked at me like a deer in headlights with irritation and we left. To have the chairs stacked, and the lights off and shut down 20 minutes before closing is wild. If the place closes at 9:00 PM, then change the hours. If you read the bad reviews first it's kind of funny. This is in an open eatery why would they have the food served in ceramic bowls lol. Flavor of the soup comes from fat, that's a good thing. Why would you want the broth to be made without flavor? Sun Noodles guaranteed good chew. This is mall ramen, it ain't no Michelin Star restaurant. Cashier guy super energetic, service with a smile. Highly recommend! The Tokyo Chicken Ramen was phenomenal! Authentic flavors, fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked noodles! I added a Seasoned Egg and Spinach for a little extra cost. Then tossed in about 2 teaspoons of chili oil for a little touch of heat and that nutty flavor. Large, clean seating area with tables, booths and bar [seating, not alcohol]. The buns of chicken and shrimp were totally out of this world. And the ramen's broth was completely amazing and delicious along with the soupy noodles and toppings! The service was okay and they did give the food very quickly and efficiently.
