A woman threw up. Staff placed a garbage can on top and left it. An hour has passed by and no one has cleaned it up. People have walked past it and stepped on it unaware that it's vomit. The man claims that they ate under staff. Yet, he is sitting there with no one coming in and the vomit is still sitting there. With flu season and virus going around it would have been appreciated for the vomit to get cleaned up immediately. read more

I came from out of town to visit my family and decide to bring my skates but ice was REALLY thin and being at a beginner level this made it really hard to skate. At first I thought something was wrong with my blades but I when calling my coach and asking her she confirmed that the ice was thin. Our daughter decided to be a big figure skater just 5 months ago. The coaches and training here are excellent. So are their spring break and other kids programs. The communication is so hard and they barely respond to the email when they provided the email for us to reach out if we had any questions. I enrolled my 4-year old son for the first time ever skating experience with the whole season paid up front. Unfortunately, the first class we went, my son refused to go in no matter what we've tried. So I emailed Jennifer asking if there could be any other options to try so we don't lose the whole money. She didn't respond after I emailed 3 times. She was nice to say we could try private class and someone will contact me who was b'cced. Then that someone next contacted me for 2 weeks. I the email Jennifer 3 times for another 2 weeks so didn't respond at all. I understand it might not be refundable, but I just need a confirmation and some understanding that a 4 year old might quit and if there are other options. Simply not responding to address is not very polite. I've tried other classes and if my son was not able to make it, they would either do makeup, postpone to later year or simply refund to me. I'm a decent skater so I decided to take adult lessons to improve my skills and maybe learn a few moves, I signed up for the intermediate class. It was clear after the first lesson that the instructor, Renha, lacked teaching skills and a passion to teach. I asked the director if the instructors rotated, but she said no, so I was stuck with an idiot (and with an attitude). Renha was often late to the lessons, making lame excuses, which left about 15-20 minutes of actual instruction. My frustration grew with each lesson, the other students were also frustrated with Renha. The kicker was during the 5th lesson, she showed us the 'bunny hop' move, I attempted it, but I really didn't care to learn that move. She told me I couldn't progress if I didn't master every move she showed us. I could care less if I mastered every move or progressed. I had previously told her my goals for the class (pretty simple), but her poor attitude prevailed. She also made negative comments about my hockey skates and not having the right skates. I'm not a figure skater, was just here to have fun and maybe learn a few moves. It wasn't fun and I didn't learn much. BTW, I rock my hockey skates! I only attended 6 out of the 10 sessions because of this horrible instructor. I asked the director for a partial refund but she said they don't give refunds. The rink itself is really old, dank, and it smells. I'll never return to this stink hole. read more

I like it. There is parking, and it seems safe, which is a concern i would have going to Oakland, and ofcourse parking at Yerba Buena is more of a problem. It is also okay at Vacaville. The day i went i was not too crowded, and it seems like a nice big rink, i am not sure what normal might be . The Schedule , is not every day so i will have to look before trying to go back but i will probably go again, i have not been skating much in recent years but I like this place. read more

Came here for a birthday party. Staff were all pleasant and helpful, facilities clean and in good working condition. Party room though small was sufficient. Not much room for adults to hang around, but we were all soon off to ice skating. The rink is in pretty good condition and all had lots of fun. This location filled up quickly after lunch and especially when they were cleaning the ice it made it difficult to find a place to sit and sometimes stand. When returning skates, employees were again nice and friendly. Saw some helping people put skates on and other things to make their day go well. Wish they would have someone out skating to enforce rules or move people along. There were some people standing around or some people being very careless. Other than that, and despite that, all of the party had a great time skating. Everyone asked to come back some more we will definitely return. read more

My kids love Dublin Iceland and have done everything from take classes here to taking advantage of the open ice times. My sons part of the Tri-Valley Hockey organization so we're often here. There's no snack bar here but they do have some good ol vending machines if you really need something to hold you over. I'm a huge fan of the viewing areas. They go the whole length of the ice and there's an indoor and outdoor option. Parking is usually no issue but during special events or HS playoff games it can get crowded. read more

I pretty much agree with Angela D.'s review. Yes, Dublin Iceland is more, um, "vintage" than other ice rinks might be, but I think it's part of the charm. I've been here twice, once for an open skating session and once for a private broomballing event, and have never felt unsafe or unwelcome. Plus, there's never an issue with finding a parking spot! If you have a group of kids who need to burn off some energy, or are looking for a bonding activity, I'd highly recommend broomballing. My church's youth group booked last Friday from 5 to 6 PM and DI provided all of the equipment. It was $250 for up to 30 people so each person paid $8 for an hour of fun - not bad! read more

My sons high school varsity ice hockey team had a scheduled game this morning at 11:30....or so that's what it said on TeamSnap which has been scheduled since the beginning of the hockey season I drive over 3 hours to find out that we did not have a game because they double booked for some Girl Scout function. I drove back at 12:15 to drop one of our other players since we ended up grabbing a bite to eat and the place was as desolate or even more empty than when we showed up...we could have still ave had our game ... I don't care if the Girl Scouts reserved it from 930....there were no little Girl Scouts bee bopping around and we could have e still had that game. The worst that could have happened was have a bunch of smelly teen agers leaving as they showed up This is not acceptable....you think someone would have checked with the hockey teams game schedule to make sure there was a game going on--of course not Unfortunately nobody cares to take responsibility over this and nobody will lose their job for this error. Yup over $40 of fuel spent for the drive and about 8 hours of my day today that I will never get back An unfortunately I have to go back for another game next time later in the day 6:30? If I have to rate so this gets posted I'll give it one star however today it deserves a big fat 0 Feel free to contact me however if you just want to justify for today's mistake don't bother. Dublin Iceland is a pretty fun ice rink. Yes, it's kinda old school, but still a decent place for some family fun. Be warned, it is really cold in the rink area (yeah, I know what you're thinking, "Hey dummy, it's an ice rink, it's supposed to be cold!") It seemed colder than I expected though. The rental ice skates killed my feet - painful! In all, a better-than-average afternoon of fun...and the kids loved it! 3.33 stars! read more

The zamboni only took about 10 minutes last time (the lady driving it was really gunning it, which I appreciated). They are under staffed and could care less what happens out on the ice. They do NOT enforce masks, skating safely or care of the condition of the ice. We skated for less than 30 minutes because there were so many ice balls, holes and unsafe skaters on the ice. When I asked if anyone was monitoring the ice they just shrugged me off. Out of all the ice skating rinks I've been too, this has to be my least favorite one. The place itself looks so old, dirty and it had a weird moldy smell to it. I was also in shock that there weren't any staff out on the ice skate floor to make sure people are okay when they fall. Never in my life have I not seen staff on the floor so that was very odd to me. The ice itself was also very thin to the point where I thought I wasn't even skating on ice, I saw a lot of the actual floor so it was kind of difficult to skate. The only upside to it is that it's a very reasonable price. A lot of parents bring their kids too and they seem to like it at least. read more

I hate skating at Dublin Iceland, which sucks because I live in Dublin. Back when I used to figure skate in high school, I would commute to Fremont twice a week to take my private lessons. I was more willing to drive in traffic during rush hour than visit this rink. I had heard that there was some construction done sometime in the last few years so I decided to give it another chance. When I walked in, it looked like nothing had changed. Everything was still as old and worn out as I remember. I have no idea what 'construction' they actually did. There are 8 lockers, I think, but none for public skaters to actually use. You have to take your valuables with you or leave it at one of the tables or benches and hope no one takes it. I have never personally experienced theft whenever I've skated here though. The floors outside of the rink are pretty dirty. Hair, crumbs, and crap get on my blades just walking from the ice to the outer area. I definitely recommend bringing blade guards if you have your own skates, otherwise it's pretty disgusting. (This was never an issue in Fremont) Dublin Iceland is also a lot colder than other rinks that I've been to. It's like the cooling system for the actual ice doesn't work well so they have to compensate by making the entire building colder. After the Zamboni resurfaces the ice, it seems to take longer for the water to freeze than normal. The rink itself is pretty small and can get pretty crowded. When I went this past Thursday, they had their Camp Freeze going on. Their rink is just way too tiny to have a camp AND a public session at the same time. At a certain point, they also blocked off a portion of the ice so that the 'campers' could paint on the ice. Not necessarily a big deal but most of the kids stayed in the bigger area, making the rink more crowded than it needed to be. Some of the camp counselors were also carrying the littles kids and spinning around (with the kids' skates swinging out). That seemed dangerous compared to how crowded it was. Despite all that, I think one of the worst parts of skating here is the hockey players. I have nothing against them but I've never met hockey players as rude as the ones here. I don't know if it's because the ones I see tend to be in the late adolescent or early teen stage or if they're allowed to think that they way they skate is okay in a public session. Yes, they can maneuver around other skaters and I can maneuver around them but what about the little kids and other people who can't skate well yet? If I was a parent, I would be terrified of bringing my children here until they're really comfortable on the ice. They aren't all bad but it only takes one inconsiderate skater to make the rink dangerous and provide a bad experience. read more

The staff is unpredictable. Some days they are nice and helpful some days they don't help at all. They have adult hockey league which is a plus and they have skating open to the public every day in the summer. However, the ice surface is subpar due to overuse and not enough cleaning/protection. The rink is a little small but still doable. Last time i came here some spots of the ice were so bad they had put orange cones over them and you had to skate around them. The place is a little dirty and not much decor. Definitely a functional ice rink with mediocre service. read more

Always mixed feelings about this place.... Both of my kiddos are in programs here so I visit Dublin Iceland 3 x per week. The rink and facilities: 0 stars. The place is always packed but the owner does not seem to put $ back into the facilities. Parking lot, front lobby and benches appear to have been built in the 70's with not much improvement. Roof leaked and ice was melted in one area of the rink. They finally put a bucket out there. The general asthetic (there isn't really any) could use some help. If you've been to Sharks Ice Fremont, you know what I mean. The equipment: 3 stars. If we got skates that were in bad shape or not sharp, we were always able to exchange with no hassle. The programs: 4 stars. The hockey program is A-mazing!!! However, it is not sponsored by Dublin Iceland but the TriValley Hockey Association who rent out the rink. The ice skating lessons are ok...but there are not alot of options for available times/days. AND if you don't sign up the first day classes are opened, you will not get in. Some teachers are better than others. The staff: 3 stars. It seems that the staff are broken up into two groups. The rink staff and the skating school staff. Rink staff have Not been helpful, attentive or even friendly. I guess it depends on who you get but it's obvious that very little training goes into customer service. The skate school staff have been extremely helpful, accomodating and friendly. Again, I'm sure it depends on who you get but I have always felt that they wanted to find a way to make me happy. :) Overall 3 stars.... read more

This place is so special to me! I skated her as a kid, competed here and loved watching the sun rise at early am figure practice. It's a traditional rink with an old appeal. I go here every week and I love it. It is not cold and it has a lobby so you can sit and wait there. There is also snacks from the vending machines and they are cheep. The rink is not bumpy but very smooth. The classes are very good and they teach you allot of things. This is also the cheapest ice rink that I found in the Bay Area and the rental skates are good so if u are bored come here! read more

Okay, so my figure skating dreams ended in sixth grade when I realized was not going to be the next Kristi Yamaguchi... If you could see my awkwardness just walking down the street, you would understand that my skating would be about ten times worse! But I always loved going to this rink! I'm all grown up now, but I can always remember plenty of school and 6th grade parties!! Upon revisiting the rink (I have a younger sister, and she's on the fence as to whether she will be a president, American Idol, or Olympian - Oh to be young again!), I got a chance to see the old stomping ground... And I have to say NOT much has changed!! Its still a little smelly (I attribute to the wet rubbery floors full of ice debris) and the young whippersnappers behind the counter, who have yet to take a lesson in customer service are still there... The other thing that hasn't changed is the kids are still having FUN!! That is the whole point! Whether it's a freestyle session of railing grabbers (that would be me!) and little twirly girls in the center of the rink with their coaches everyone is having fun!! There is one coach there, her name is Kara T. She is all about the fun! She has her little skaters learning the basics, but having fun at the same time... I didn't see any criers that day, so I'm sure she's trained in all the important stuff like - Harry Potter and Hannah Montana :) She seems to have a way to relate with the kids I guess. I know skating is pricey, so if my ten-year-old sister would just make up her mind on what dream to follow!!! I'm holding out for figure skating, but i think that's just because I watched Blades of Glory last weekend! :) read more
