North Light skillet with over easy eggs
Rachel P.

We stopped in after our Pictured Rocks Cruise. We arrived around 12:30 and our party of 5 was seated right away. The service was very prompt. The food came out quickly and tasted really fresh. We ordered two different skillets (Yooper on a Hot Tin Roof and North Light), the caramel apple waffle, chocolate chip pancakes, cinnamon roll, and sides of bacon and sausage. The food was excellent overall. My husband said the caramel apple waffle was the best waffle he's ever had! The sausage was just ok, but the back had great flavor. Both skillets were really flavorful and filling with lots of veggies and meat mixed in with the hash browns. The chocolate chip pancakes were super fluffy with a crispy edge. The coffee was also excellent and refilled often by our server. The prices were a little high, but reasonable for the quality of the food. Nice stop in Munising!

North point skillet

By the time we came to eat at 9 the restaurant was packed. Our server did a great job checking in on us. The food was great and I loved the 3 different hot sauce options on the table!

Cinnamon Foll

Wow! We stayed at a near by Airbnb for a weekend stay. Went to breakfast here both mornings. My boyfriend got the Chapel Loop Cheesesteak omelette both days and I got the Breakfast #2 and the same omelette. The pancakes are so fluffy and amazing. The cinnamon rolls are also great. Plenty of food and kept us full for our hikes. We sat at a booth and at the bar and both servers we had were quick and attentive. It is a smaller place but they have covered outside seating that looked great. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are in town!

Lovely dining rooms and Jamie took SUCH good care of us! We shared orders of pirogies and roasted Brussels sprouts - very interesting tastes and textures! We also shared a bone marrow butter burger with bacon. THE BEST!! I'm sorry we were keeping room for dessert, because we didn't finish the parmesan fries. Dessert was Good Ole Chocolate Cake and Bread Pudding. Oh, and I may have mentioned it was my wife's birthday, so her dessert had a candle in it and the dining room sang happy birthday to her.

For $40 a plate I expected something, anything that stood out. Sides were cold and lacked any flavor, fish was not special. The space is clean. The service was okay... after waiting a few minutes to be sat (no problem at all there) we waited another 10+ minutes for a high chair - yet I told the host we needed one upon arrival. Multiple people walking by every few minutes seeing we were standing up with our 1 year old. Greeted by our server, drinks brought to the table and still no high chair. I finally asked again politely where I could go grab it myself. The server herself was friendly. Hence she gets two stars.

First, the service. It was a little slow to get rolling but the gal who helped us out was top-notch. She went above & beyond after my 82yr old father hurt his hand somewhere en route to or from the restroom. He was holding a napkin on it & was embarrassed. She discreetly brought him a bandaid, PUT IT ON & TOOK THE SOILED NAPKIN. Even now, it brings a teat to the eye. She was kind & understanding. To say it was touching would be an understatement. Each couple split a chicken pasty meal, the parents had water, while the hubs & I each added a local beer. The pasty crust was light & flaky. The filling wasn't overly seasoned but had good flavor. The slaw was sweet & solid. The star I would have docked for could be cleaner overall (those displays collect stuff) & faster in service gets a wash from the detail and time well-spent on that service. I'd much rather wait a little longer & leave feeling human. So, maybe we could all slow down a bit & pay more attention to detail.

We prefer bar service over dining service, seem to be generally more attentive and the two staff work as a team. Brandon is waiting on us. He's friendly and good at customer service. Ordered the whitefish dip, baba Ghanouj, superior whitefish tater tots, tabouli salad, superior whitefish chowder, superior whitefish tacos with black pepper fries and a spicy crispy chicken sandwich and cabbage slaw. $111 They do charge a 4% transparency fund: employee retention, living wages, staff happiness. Written on the bottom of your bill. The dishes are scratch made, in house. Nice! The tabouli is too, has some mixed greens in it. There is something sweet in the dressing or the buckwheat, not my thing at all. Rest of the salad is good though. The baba ghanouj on its own is quite garlicky, slight Smokey flavor to it. It doesn't work with the pita crackers. Not loving this at all. The whitish dip is good. My hubby liked the sweet pickled for watermelon rind garnish, I didn't like them much. The spicy chicken sandwich on the brioche bun is really good. The chicken is super crispy. It's quite good. The whitish tacos are good. The whitefish seems to be blackened, really nicely. The fish is light and perfectly cooked. The whitefish chowder is so good! The tater tots are so delicious. No slouch here. Crunchy and so yummy! Food was so unique and quiet food. The side pepper fries are and slaw ate both a bit blah, compared to the majority of our flavorful meals Service is top notch.

5/5 -- A Hidden Gem Fueled by Faith and Great Coffee!…read more A few weeks back, I was riding my motorcycle through Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula on a trip from Maryland and stopped overnight in Munising. The next morning, I went searching for some good coffee and came across Rustic Grounds Coffee Trailer. As I looked over the menu, I saw a variety of great options and asked if I could make a small tweak to one of their specialty lattes -- no hesitation, no problem, they made it happen! When I took that first sip... wow. Smooth, balanced, and genuinely one of the best lattes I've had. I've traveled all over the world, and this little coffee trailer easily holds its own among my favorite stops. Top 10? Maybe not, but definitely my top favorite in the UP! (I'm originally from the UP, born and raised in.) While enjoying my drink, I noticed the cup had the outline of Michigan's Upper Peninsula with the words "Fueled by Jesus & Coffee." That made me smile. Then I saw the T-shirts hanging on a wall by the side of the trailer featuring Bible verses and faith-inspired designs -- such a great touch! This place is more than just a coffee stop; it's a reflection of love, faith, and community. If you're ever in Munising and want amazing coffee while supporting a small, family-owned, Christian business -- Rustic Grounds is absolutely the place to go. I'll definitely be back when I ride through the UP again!
