All food in this area is weighed and you pay by the ounce. Reminded me of a hospital cafeteria except it was more expensive. I was never sure how much per ounce. A friend had the chicken salad sandwich which was on the most wonderful croissant. Chicken salad is very thickly applied. It was good not over the top but good also we split a coconut cream pie. Some of the nicest food service workers I've ever met. Super helpful when selecting a meal. They overcharged us and came over while we were eating to inform us of the refund. Then the worker came over to check how our food was and if we needed anything else. Highly recommend the BLT or the BBQ Grilled Cheese. If you do the meal, get the parmesan ranch style chips. Let me start with straight up honesty here. When I saw that this place had ALL 5 Star reviews, I was skeptical. Looked to me like some sort of "loading of stars" going on here, but I must come clean. This place absolutely 100% deserves ALL THE STARS. The Homestead is part homemade food to go (they have a lovely little frozen grocery area with tons of homemade food items) and part fresh food made of excellent, highest quality. It's a simple place where you order at the counter and then have a seat til your order is ready. They have a large, delicious looking salad bar (you pay by weight so prep your salad first and the pay), delicious looking desserts (the doughnut was in buy top 5 of best doughnuts of all time), and the most amazing sandwiches. I never knew a BLT could taste this good! My husband and I split a Stack sandwich - it was delicious. I don't imagine there is a single item on the menu where you could go wrong. We found the Homestead in Remington while traveling the backroads of Indiana a year ago. When they told us they were opening a location in West Lafayette we knew we'd be dining there on our next visit. While the building isn't as charming or large as the one in Remington, the food is just as good. I had the Homestead Stack and my wife had half a grilled cheese sandwich and the chicken and rice soup. Wonderful. The staff was terrific and the prices very reasonable. On my most recent visit, I enjoyed the salad bar, broccoli & cheese noodle soup, and butterscotch pie. It was so good I couldn't get a picture of the pie first. You pay by weight. You can also order sandwiches from the menu. The place is packed at lunch time so you may want to go early or go late. I got the salad bar. All the items were fresh. Cafe is o. The right and the market area on the left as you enter. Have a frozen food section containing some of their salad bar products. An ample seating area exists in the other side. Don't forget to check out their donut snd dessert case which is somewhat hidden at the back. Many varieties present along with bottled drinks. Smoothies are also on the menu. The only negative was the checkout line. Both market purchases with cart filled items and people standing with their filled, open salad plates in hand waited to be checked out in same location directly in line with the front door. So glad I visited this place! This cafe bakes fresh bread but also has a bunch of other goodies for sale. There are candies and preserves in addition to a really great frozen and refrigerated selection. I bought amazing dinner rolls (super moist and fluffy!), cinnamon butter (LOVE), potato salad, peanut butter and M&M cookies, and some amazing cinnamon rolls. Everything was delicious!
