This was important because if you have an estimator that isn't onsite for the actual work, sometimes, what is promised and what is completed may not be the same. Jamal gave us a detailed quote and when he and his crew showed up for the work, Jamal definitely remembered all the details that we talked about. We also had the chance to interact and talk to the crew. Everyone was incredibly pleasant and friendly. They were all easygoing with us and with each other. I had a representative of the first company I chose show up and he looked everything over, got information, and took that information back with him. Meanwhile I called Jamal at Treetime and he came out the next business day or so and gave me a quote instantly. After another day or two the first company emailed me their quote and it was nearly double Jamal's. Either company would probably have done fine. They both have stellar reviews. Jacob took my call to ask about an estimate to have a Japanese maple tree pruned. He didn't sound as "polished" as other businesses did, but he was "out and about" so he could be at my house in an hour to give an estimate. He showed up within the hour and his bid was very competitive. He called me back and said he had a man available that same afternoon, so Michael came and did the pruning and asked me from time to time what else I might wanted removed. He did exactly as a I wanted. He removed all cut branches and used a leaf blower to clean up. They don't use a credit card machine, so you will pay with cash or check. Also a reason for the 4-star rating. I suggest to them that they tell the customer upfront. Total cost: $300 as was quoted.

We hired Clay's Tree Service to remove a dying cherry tree in our back yard. We had to negotiate with Thomas in order to "only" be charged for the cherry tree. In addition to this huge mistake, Clay's Tree Service did not finish cutting our cherry tree down to size, debris was left throughout the backyard, and they trampled our front yard, turning it into a mud pit. When Thomas's team came by to clean up some of the mess they made, they hit a tree in our front yard with their truck, taking off a large limb. They had the temerity to not notify us of this damage and, upon being confronted, offered us additional "service" as compensation for the damage. This was a horrible experience and I recommend avoiding using Clay's Tree Service in the strongest possible terms.

I called 4 different tree services, which had a wide range of prices, everything from $875 to $1500! The $1500 price had said they'd have to hire a crew of 3 people and would be at our house all day. Yikes! We didn't hire them. Then, I contacted Larry at Treehappy by email. Because we didn't hear from him for 3 days, he apologized for the late response, saying that he usually responds better to voicemails, but how could I know that? he reasoned. I appreciated his apology, and his warmth, directness, and his willingness to reach out. During his free inspection, he offered the lowest fee (not knowing the other estimates), and also discussed with great wisdom, what might need to happen in years to come (to take down the tree as it was mostly dead), as well as the city permit we would need to get, as these were city trees. He assured us that it would be finished within a few hours, and it was! They also cleaned up all the debris, including debris that they did not cut down! We hired him on the spot! I liked that he worked with us within our price range, that his crew was incredibly efficient, and also responsible; one of the guys accidentally trimmed 1 extra limb and offered us money for it! Of course, we didn't take it, but his and Treehappy's level of accountability was extraordinary! We couldn't be happier! I see why Treehappy has its name! We are so happy, and you can bet that we'll be calling them again when that tree needs to come down! I'd been told by other arborists that these trees needed trimming. When I asked Scott if my trees needed trimmed he asked, "Why?". He said they were fine as they were. That saved me a huge amount of money right there. He walked around the rest of my land giving good advice, and he didn't feel the need to do many things the other arborists wanted to do. This alone was even more money savings for me. Scott was very knowledgeable and so easy to work with.
