We have two 100 feet+ Douglas Fir trees in our backyard (along with many others in the country club…read morenext door) and a recent wind storm sent a broken limb ("widow maker") either from higher in the same tree or from another tree. This limb was snagged within the tree and was precariously balanced over couple of the lower branches about 40 to 45 feet above the ground. To remove this hazard, I called 5 tree care specialist companies to obtain estimates. Some companies have such high minimum charge (over $500) that I had to eliminate them immediately. Moreover, these big operation companies were not interested in such a small scale job. Couple of other companies were more accommodating and also cheaper, yet I felt that the people I spoke to were not as knowledgeable and/or lacked professionalism. Also, I wanted to hire a company that uses spurless climbing so that there is no damage to the tree bark. Although Ward Tree Care was not the cheapest, I was impressed with the owner's (Chris Ward) professionalism and quick response and I hired him right away after receiving a written quote. In addition, the written quote was detailed and organized well so that there was no confusion as to the services to be rendered. Other company's quotes were mostly hand-written and lacked polish. The broken limb was taken care of by Jared and Adam; both of whom were courteous and efficient at their jobs. Furthermore, both guys gave me tips on how to prune some of the other trees in my garden. I wholeheartedly recommend this company for tree pruning and "widow maker" removal service. The company is not only efficient and knowledgeable about its business, but also seeing a guy being suspended high above with a single rope can be entertaining as well; it was as if I were watching a National Geographic documentary featuring a naturalist climbing giant Redwood trees.

I have a huge, very old magnolia tree in my front yard that a main branch snapped off of in the last major snow storm we had. The once-beautiful tree looked awful with a huge hole in the front foliage. Chris skillfully guided his crew in a pruning of the tree that has helped it grow back evenly. Now it is looking great. They have done several pruning projects for me, as well as a couple of tree removals. They do consistently excellent work, and I plan to continue using them in the future. This helped us save money on the initial assessment and being able to clean up both sides at the same time was helpful for everyone. The 1st day I had an amazing team I called the climber and the carrier. Both of these gentlemen were not only highly efficient but totally thorough, knowledgeable and professional about everything they did. I actually have to admit my backyard is getting sunshine for the first time, and it's so uplifting. The second day I had the same climber, but a different carrier, and I was nervous that it would not be as good as the first day. Not only did they meet all my expectations, but at the end of the day, every carrier and climber were in the backyard, picking up the final branches, right down to the tiniest of twigs. It's almost embarrassing that my backyard has never looked cleaner than it does today. I had 3 estimates and cutting plans developed with 3 different companies before Joe Grab came into our lives. They were kind enough to review the prior plans and assured me that they too were going to follow similar plans of cutting hangers and deadwood, and thin out so that there are not problems in the future, for much less money. The project being a tree removal, as well planting within a foot away (due to sprinklers only being able to reach so far). With that being said I had set a time and date with them to do the job. I ordered the tree for delivery the day prior, but once the day came for the job it was a no show. Concerned, I contacted NW Tree Work to see what was going on. Turns out they are short staff. I'm pretty reasonable so I go ahead and try to reschedule. This time, I'm told the job is more complex so a new date is set. Once the new date rolls around, again, no show. At this point I'm constantly contacting NW Tree Work to the point they are reading my messages but not replying. I have to call every single time to get a hold of someone, to which I'm told I will get a reply later in the day, and to which I don't. It takes me contacting each day to try and reschedule only to be told a date the project will get done by and for someone to not show up. Big waste of time. On top of that, when speaking to John he assured me the prior weekend he'd get the job done and not only that move the tree out of public view and water it so it's okay. Sadly, none of that ever happened or came into fruition, the trees flowers started dying off due to it not being properly taken care of which it would have been had it been planted as planned. Ultimately this lead to a lot of back and forth. Whether its short-staffed or health related issues, telling a customer a date you're going to get the job done and continuously bailing is not the right response to do. The kicker was John calling me later that day to tell me how to give more trust and understanding to professionals and how delays happen and it's all normal. How about building that trust with customers first by not bailing on them multiple times over and over again, then we can have that conversation. Aside from all the negatives, I can give them credit for at least reimbursing me on the tree (though they only would if they ended up taking it). I'm not typically one to leave reviews, but I think it's important for anybody else on this platform to be informed with what potential risks you have working with certain companies. Emotions aside, this is just my personal experience with the company and for that I would not recommend them moving forward.

I was a potential customer for this company. On 10/01/19 I called them for an estimate to trim back…read moresome branches that are encroaching over the fences from my neighbors yards. On 10/02/19 finally around 4:30pm I received a call back from Anna and as I picked up to start talking she hung up so I called her right back and had to leave another message and waited for another 20 minutes before she called me back and said I must have butt dialed you and that she needed to call me back anyway. We start talking about days that would work for us and she had one day in mind but it was not good for me, so I gave her 3 other options that would work and she couldn't give any answer and said that she would have to call me back with the answer on 10/03/19. On 10/03/19 at 7am I called them again to set up a day and a time and once again no answer ... still waiting for her to call me back. This company only has 2 guy's on the job and 2 guys on call and no cherry-picker or a lift. 10/04/19 by this time I have called 4 other companies and have had quicker responses back. At this point I will not be using this company. Poor customer relations, lack of  communication, therefore their services are probably poor and worthless.

The did the job right the first time. 3) The teamwork of the crew to get things done right and safely. 4) When they came, they reviewed the underground digging issues and knew the internet cable would be cut during the stump grinding process. They scheduled the grinding for another day so the cable/internet cable group could be called to put in a temporary line. No disruption of services! 5) It's a small business doing good work locally. 6) The people working for this company are good people.

I'd been told by other arborists that these trees needed trimming. When I asked Scott if my trees needed trimmed he asked, "Why?". He said they were fine as they were. That saved me a huge amount of money right there. He walked around the rest of my land giving good advice, and he didn't feel the need to do many things the other arborists wanted to do. This alone was even more money savings for me. Scott was very knowledgeable and so easy to work with. When we did decide what needed to be done, he sent out his crew who were very respectful and courteous. I had a tree cut down and other trees trimmed, and the crew cleaned up nicely so I didn't have extra debris on my yard. They were very efficient.
