Despite claiming years of experience, Daniel showed a complete lack of basic horticultural knowledge. I had to stay outside for 6 hours (9 AM - 3 PM) because he didn't seem to understand simple plant logic--like the proper '4 and 4' spacing (4 inches of soil and 4 inches of mulch) to prevent plant rot. Major Failures: * Logistical Oversight: The crew arrived without a wheelbarrow. After an initial disagreement, Daniel acknowledged it had been requested, but they were forced to improvise using a trash can and my personal buckets. This lack of proper equipment led to an inefficient process and unbalanced soil use. * The 'Extra Time' Dispute: I paid a premium for a 4-hour job, but it took 6 hours because I had to constantly correct the work. When additional items came up, I framed them as "if time allows," and I remained available because I was asked to be present for clarification. For that reason, I do not agree that the additional time was caused by my involvement. The response I received focused primarily on the time spent exceeding four hours, rather than addressing the quality concerns raised. I had a great experience with Daniel Landscaping, a Father & Son Business. They responded quickly, and the bid quote was very reasonable, comparatively to their competitors. Our project was to replace the old grass and layout new sod, prune a tree and remove couple of small trees. They are prompt to respond and start the work on time. It seems that they paid attention to details and stepped up to do more to make sure things around look great. We had a special request to make sure the grass type was of our liking, they went and got it from Portland. That was very nice of them and now our lawn looks fabulous. They did some work on our sprinklers too as they were not at their optimum positions to make sure all of the grass would be watered properly. They did an excellent job of transforming our lawn and they were efficient and did an excellent job of cleaning up the debris. Dan and his crew did a fabulous job for us. Last year the constructed a cobble stone path and a retaining wall. Both projects turned out better than we expected. We asked them back this year to take out our front lawn and replace e it with a semi-formal garden. It has an 8" wall on the perimeter and a pathway meanders through it.
