I have been w/o wifi for over 5 days. My connection issues began on FriMay 23rd. the WiFi worked but the connection was spotty. Sat May 24th the connection remained spotty. I unplugged my router&reconnected &that seemed to work for part of the day. I ended up doing this about 3times Sat the 24th b4 contacting them by chat that night. I was unable to speak w/ anyone as they kept sending me pre written responses advising me to call tech support. Which did not take calls until 9am. Problem. My work shift began at 6am that day. I attempt to trouble shoot on my own. To no avail. 9am rolls around. 3 hours after I was supposed to be at work. Im finally able to call. They trouble shoot&it works. For a few min& it's back down again. This persist until Mon when I wake up again for a 6am shift. NO internet at all. Day 2 of my work day being interrupted. Again I'm unable to contact them until 9am. 9 am rolls around I contact them.This time I was pissed!My WiFi had been unreliable at this point for over 2 days!They still suggested troubleshooting over the phone.Which did not work! My bill was due by May 30th to avoid disconnection on May 31st which was slowly approaching. I refused to pay until my issue was resolved. I ended up missing work&then having 2LEAVE MY HOME &travel to a diff location to use WiFi on MonMay 26th. When I spoke to someone on Tues 27th I told her I was done troubleshooting& needed a tech at my residence. The next appt was not until FriMay 30th(the same day my bill is due). We stayed at a hotel for3days as a result. I WFH. I expressed how unacceptable this was. Internet restored Fri evening. I refused 2pay until my balance was appropriately adjusted. The lady said she wouldn't be able to count the days my WiFi was out prior to my first call w/o tech support which didn't open until 9am on SatMay 31st.They disconnected my WiFi before morning. We had not had the internet working for more than 8hrs. . Will be canceling immediately at 9am. Never again!!! Correction I have been without reliable internet for 10 days. they offered me a $5 credit lol. Then upped it to $50. Honestly everything about this internet is so terrible. save your money for suree. If we had issues with the wifi, we would call customer service, they would tell us we needed to pay the bill even though we had just paid a couple days ago. Currently experiencing problems and thinking to switch to another internet. If you have recommendations send me an email please! But right now we have had our wifi out for 4+ days and supposedly its a "power outage" yet we have contacted daily with the same answer seemingly no work has been done. We requested a technician friday, and they told us they would be there 11am-2pm. once that time had passed we called again asking for the time once again, we had gotten a different answer 3pm-5pm. Earthlink - The epic failure! (NEGATIVE STARS) Earthlink puts out a defective app on the Google Play! They claim compatibility, and even will make you jump through hoops... Changing passwords, uninstalling and reinstalling their app... and each time the error continues. The error - Messages come into the Samsung Galaxy Tab A running Android, produce anywhere from 2 to 5 copies of each incoming message. Outgoing are unaffected. Their technician, Alex P, although polite run you in circles before admitting this. Then when you ask for resolution or other workarounds, they ghost you. I strongly recommend steering clear of this organization, as their services are miserable and especially sad is they take advantage of legacy paying users in this fashion. I canceled my service the day of my billing service. I was told they do not refund money unless you call the day before your billing cycle starts. I was unsuccessful to reach someone in the US. My calls were routed back to South Africa. I was hung up on and my number blocked. Terrible costumer service and no refund policy. They don't tell you that when you sign up. Customer Service is hit or miss. My main issue is that I was not able to access my account. I contacted customer service, but they were not able to help. They said someone would call me to assist, but that never happened. I decided to go with AT&T who said they would reimburse for the early termination fee. Earthlink does not offer highspeed internet, although they say they do. Also, the 100GB plan is LIMITED internet. I cancelled my service that I only had from Aug 14-27, and was told bec I used the internet, I would not be allowed a refund. However, the same day I activated the service, I noticed the internet was not highspeed, and called back to inquire about cancelling and was told that as long as I cancelled before Sep 15 (the next billing cycle), I would be eligible for a refund of the 1st month payment. Another bad service that I encountered while shopping for my business Internet. They advertised to be the best coverage, high speed, and more. I just canceled my old service with AT&T, so I looked up anything available in my area, then Earth Link popped up, seems to have an easy guide, I made an appointment so quickly I could just pay the installation fees according to the agent on the phone, set up my account and wait for the technician to arrive the next day to install my modems. Not the case, after charging me $200 up front for installation, the following day when I was expecting the agent, another person from Earth Link called and told me that no agent was available and they will keep me updated. About 2 weeks later, after countless phone calls with the same agent, still no one came to install my Internet, I am about to lose patience and probably cancel again and demand a refund, because I am too tired with their BS already, all of their call centers are either outsourced somewhere from Asia, people didn't understand me half of the time, and I have to repeat my self for the same issue, these companies will lose all their customers and going bankrupt for what they did behind customer backs read more

Terrible Experience. Randomly raised my rate by $30. Changed the early termination fee rules and price at least twice. The Customer service was no good. I called 3 separate times to cancel service. I was advised it would be cheaper to wait until my contract was up and I was told that I had to call the day of my contract to cancel. I forgot and they charged me for another month and they told me they assumed I wanted to continue service because I forgot to call even though they have on record 2 other phone calls of me requesting to cancel service. Not great service I've had them for a total of three months but got charged on my debit card for four months because I used 88 gb bit I was out of service for a total of six days but did they refund me nope. I tried amd tried to reach someone to fix my service because my light was blue and my servicevdidnt work. When you call the number they say to hold because a high qmount of calls are being placed but than never answer the call. I disconnected my service two days before the billing cycle but still charged me but now only wanna refund me half of the payment. This is a service to avoided at all costs. I have had the internet service since the end of May, 2023 and the service has been unavailable 19 times up until today 7/17/2013. That is, the service cuts off for no apparent reason and fails to come back on. I call the service department (in the Philippines) and I usually have to wait 20 minutes until someone answers my call. And then the person usually doesn't know what the issue is. I was supposed to be contacted today (7/17) by someone high up in the technical department (in other words a proper technician) to solve this problem but, of course, none called. EarthLink is taking advantage of people living in rural areas (and other areas, I imagine) of the U.S. and not providing an adequate service. I'm sure some shrill from the "just pretend there is nothing wrong" section of EarthLink will respond to this review. Don't believe a word of what the shrill says. read more

I have been using EarthLink Wireless Home Internet (WHI) for a little over a week, and I am thoroughly disgusted by the way they handle customer service for WHI. Their support is only available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET. They already know from the name of the service that their customers use this service in their homes. Those of us who are on the West Coast are just returning home around 6 p.m. If we have a problem with our WHI, we won't even discover it until after 6:00 p.m. PT, which coincidentally is when their customer support ends. That leads to immense frustration and an inability to problem solve until the next day. They are not providing adequate support for us. Moreover, they offer a live chat for other customers 24/7, but not for WHI customers. Their agents are polite about it, but they will not offer any assistance, not even with navigating the website. Are we such a small percentage of their business that they can afford to lose our patronage and good will and not suffer repercussions? I expect better treatment from companies I do business with. Let me share an analogy. I lived in China for 3 years. People back home in the States would ask me how I felt about living in a country where I knew I was being monitored and watched by the government. I pointed out that our government was probably doing the same thing, but wasn't forthright about it. At least the Chinese government was honest and open about how they treated their citizens and foreign residents. EarthLink treats their WHI customers with obvious disdain; if they didn't, we would also have access to 24/7 support. However, they present a façade of caring about their WHI customers and offering customer support. I'd rather return to Comcast/Xfinity where I already know I will be treated like dog excrement than to be with a company that pretends to value me, only to treat me like dog excrement. EarthLink could make an immediate change by simply staffing their existing customer support an additional 3 hours/day. Research shows that unhappy customers are more likely to talk about their experiences with a given company than happy and satisfied customers are. Unless I see evidence that EarthLink provides equitable service to Wireless Home Internet customers, I will never recommend them to anyone, and will likely share my complaints with anyone who asks. How many more unhappy customers do they have? How many more can they afford to have? It would also be a wise move if they offered a customer service email address so that I could address this problem to them directly instead of having to travel around the Internet posting reviews in the hope that someone from EarthLink will see them. On March 13, 2023, I changed internet providers to EarthLink. I was told that the $84.90/per month would meet my needs. A week later, I was told that I was out of data. Most of this week we didn't even have electricity due to weather conditions. I called to complain and was given extra data. However on March 28, 2023, our internet service was terminated for lack of data available. We do not use excessive internet services and we are not gamers, therefore I can't understand how I can run out of services in two weeks especially with electricity outages. I feel mislead and was extorted into paying additional funds to sustain my internet while I find another provider! read more

I have been an Earthlink customer for over 5 years, and at this point, their "high speed" DSL internet is absolutely abysmal. Last year Earthlink took 43.95 off my debit card twice for ONE monthly payment, which they weren't supposed to do because I wasn't behind on my payments and I didn't owe them anything. After this, Visa blocked the 2nd payment Earthlink tried to take (considering it was fraud) and issued a new debit card to me. I also submitted a complaint to the BBB, which only resulted in Earthlink agreeing to give me 4 months of $10 credit towards my bill, resulting in my bill only being $33.95. In January of 2023, that credit ended and I noticed that my internet speed decreased TREMENDOUSLY. It went from speeds of up to 150kbps, to a mere 40kbps. Not only that, but a couple of months later, my bill was increased by $5. Resulting in my bill now being a total of $53.95. I'm paying almost $60 a month for Earthlink "high speed" internet that barely amounts to dial up speed. I can only watch Youtube videos at 144p. Anything over that, and the video constantly buffers. Simple tasks such as scrolling Amazon while checking my email is a hassle, because the pages either don't load properly or don't load at all. Signing into websites isn't a simple putting in your information and logging in because the speed is so bad, that any security measures websites have, will fail to load. I still use a Earthlink Zyxel modem, refusing to lease a router and add more money to my already climbing Earthlink monthly bill. However, that doesn't erase the days when my internet connection goes out, bad weather or not and don't expect Earthlink to be transparent when they're experiencing issues. I can't even use the new Zyxel modem I purchased (the same model) because Earthlink's "admin" website (192.168.1.1) isn't accessible at all, at least not for me. It is absolutely ridiculous and disappointing that there are internet companies that operate like this. That make the customer feel nothing but regret for signing up for this kind of service. That make a customer feel trapped when they live in an area that doesn't have a lot options, so they have to take what they can get. This is not the way to treat your customers. This is not the way to treat fellow human beings. There's no excuses for any of Earthlink's actions. They simply don't care. They put more energy into constantly changing their main website, changing features that aren't necessary, than they do into providing better internet for their customers. They don't fight to be better, they don't go above and beyond for their customers. They get paid and they go home. It's deplorable. read more

Something is just off with this company. Called trying to set up an account, the first person I talked to was originally helpful, but she kept getting my information confused and asked if the service address was a house I haven't lived in for over 15 years so kinda weird how they got that information. She took my card information for the installation fee and then right when I thought everything was set, she transferred me to another person to "explain the plan" I selected. This new person had no idea we had been on the phone for an hour and had everything basically set up, said none of my information in his system, and then tried pitching me the same plan for double the price with additional fees. He kept putting me on hold to talk to his manager and then transferred me to customer service where I questioned where my credit card information is that they took and they hung up. I called back to try and figure out what happened with all the information I gave them and they hung up again. This place is definitely sketchy and I would not trust them. read more

I have no idea why they say they're in Atlanta Georgia and other phone calls are forwarded to another country where people don't even understand English much less know how to be courteous. Too bad I can't get a -10 star. I had this service for 1 month, I signed up on August 1, they billed me 13 days later, I paid the bill August 22nd. Their system rejected my payment (I used the same card to pay the installation fee.) I argued with them up until August 29th over the billing/payment issue. I cancelled the service today, I drove 4 miles across down to give Fed Ex the account number to return the modem, it was a CASH only account number. I called Earthlink & told them to send me a return label, they refused telling me they couldn't send a label. They are the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with. The billing is idiotic and incompetent -- a raccoon could do a better job. Earthlink is the first addition to my new rating category: "ONLY GOOD ENOUGH 4 MY DOG!" Today I lathered my monthly bill with peanut butter and I fed it to my dog (see photo). I've been a customer for 18 years, since Mindspring was acquired by Earthlink. I've generally been satisfied with the service itself. But the billing is totally ridiculous and incompetent! It's so horrible, it overshadows everything else. I'd think that a company that has annual revenues of around one billion dollars would do a better job. 1) Several years ago, they screwed up the billing on my credit card (again), they wouldn't credit me (again), I wasted hours of my time fighting with them (again), etcetera. I fixed the problem by making them send me a paper bill. They charge me $3.00 for each paper bill. And I pay with a check...for a month...for a couple of months...or for a year...depending on my mood. 2) I received their paper bill today (see photo) but the billing department has been burning up my phone for the previous week (see photo). In other words, they've been harassing the hell out of me way before the bill even arrived! They do this EVERY time!!! If I answer the phone, I get some idiot in India that sounds like a robot. I know that I'm not important to Earthlink, they don't need my business, and I'm little more than a pesky cockroach to them. Apparently if you are forced to move and have to do so before the end of your year, you need to either transfer service or pay the cancellation fee. This happened to us, and this is just one of the reasons I am telling everyone I know to stay away from Earth Link. Their coverage is apparently very spotty. The other reason- this "great" customer service I kept hearing about has managed to cut me off EVERY TIME I CALLED, even for minor issues. They failed to disconnect the service when I asked them to, and when I tried to see if it was done, of course it wasn't and of course I got cut off-once again. An honest to god SCAM! The sale reps are lairs. I wanted fiber internet and was told I'm getting fiber internet then as soon as the day come to get my internet installed, the installation guys tell me I'm not getting fiber and I'm basically paying way more for something I already have with ATT. I specifically told the sales rep I already have ATT cable Internet and she said that I will be getting fiber which is faster and more reliable etc. when the installation guys told me that I called customer service and they lied straight to me saying I am getting fiber installed but I kept pushing it and when I was transferred to someone else , they finally admitted that I was not getting fiber internet. Then I had to be transferred again to billing to see if they could even give me a refund, just for them to say "we're not sure if we can give you a refund on the installation fee, we'll contact you in an hour." Like what the hell! After being transferred 6 times and repeating the same story over and over im so exhausted. Don't get EarthLink, the customer service is rude, the sales rep don't know what they are doing, they are a straight up SCAM! Btw I also recorded the phone calls with them and advise people to do the same because everytime you get transferred, someone is lying to you and trying to tell you something different Update: Samantha reached out to me, She said she was one of the executives customers service reps and managed to get me the refund for the installation fee ($79.95) and said that it would be in my bank acc within 3-5 business days. I also canceled the internet service because I just don't think I can move forward with the experience I had personally. She said I wouldn't be charged anything for the upcoming billing period. I'm very thankful for her and how understanding she was and for talking to me without being rude or condescending like the pervious customer service reps.
