He fixed our custom-built pantry shelves, in addition to adding another shelf, replaced baseboards, fixed an accent wall, added shelving to our laundry room, and installed overhead garage storage for us. The best thing about working with Jay, was that he had good input for us in helping to figure out what we wanted to do with our laundry room and to fix the broken design on our accent wall. When he was trying to figure out where to hang our clothes rack in the laundry room, he had the foresight to measure my arms to get a good sense of where to hang the rack since my wife wasn't around to say exactly how high she wanted it installed. While he, like most other tech services, have preference on brands of products, he's transparent and honest. He diagnosed my issues, suggested a fix, charged me his cost for the hardware, and a reasonable cost for installation. He's prompt, knowledgeable, and will offer you options at varying cost that you can consider before signing below. Is it cheap? No. Should it be? Absolutely not. Our house has doorbells, cameras, phones, media players, TVs, game consoles, thermostats, and computers. Literally dozens of devices that rely on a fast, consistent signal. I feel like he charged me a reasonable price, will follow up to ensure that it works as advertised, and was open and honest in troubleshooting and offering a solution. I had a disturbing experience with a hard drive recovery request involving important music project files here. The agreement was that I would pay $300 if three specific files were successfully recovered. When I came in to inspect them, the first two appeared corrupted/unusable. I asked to check the third file and said I would still pay the full $300 if even that one file worked. The technician Henry refused to let me verify the third file. While it was already loading/opening on my computer, he unplugged the hard drive. After that, when he connected it to his own computer, the drive stopped showing up. He also accused me of trying to copy the files by inspecting them, checked my computer, and refused to immediately return my original hard drive, saying he needed to "fix" it and delete the recovered folder before he can return it to me. I called the police, but they said it would need to be handled as a civil matter because of the contract. I'm sharing this so others can be informed. In my experience, I was not allowed to fully inspect the recovered files before payment, the drive stopped mounting after it was unplugged by him forcefully during inspection, and I was not able to leave with my original hard drive afterward and was told with a smirk that he will try his best to get it done as soon as possible. We did not care for anyone's vision other than ours because we must live with it and we knew what we wanted. The day of the install. The sub-contractor shows up and proceeds to build. As I see the wall shaping up and did not look like what I expressed in my consultation. The guy says that to do what I ask it would be an additional $800 and I should pay him directly. Which after seeing more progress, was what I ordered in the first place. On a call with the owner of the company, which he acted as if he didn't know what was going on, we had to pause the project to have a meeting because I felt as if the sub was trying to hustle me. The sub constructed my wall with a wood veneer, and it was supposed to be drywall to flow in consistency with the rest of the room. I did not ask for wood, nor do we like it. After they were aware of their mistake, they spent time trying to convince us that what was done was better than what we asked for and that we should accept that. NO! the additional time, labor and costs are yours to deliver what we ordered. After this we were then rescheduled to complete this project only to again have poor communication with scheduling. The second day they come back they left a guy here to do drywall and the guy came to me and said he was not left with the proper amount of material to finish. I had to go buy the materials. As I expressed my dislike for having to do this with the owner, her is his response "This is something that can happen. You cannot calculate exact parts for the job, especially if it's custom and there are no descriptions of materials only a picture. I will go ahead and contact....". The guy measured and built a wall, and you say you can't calculate materials? WOW, so someone is incompetent. I own a business in a similar field, and I have never had to have a client go to the store. This is a piece of Sxxt operation ran by people with zero business acumen. Points: 1. Lack of communication between company and subcontractor. 2. Design was not the same as build. 3. I had to install dust barriers and floor coverings to protect my home. 4. Poor communication between us and the company. 5. We had to go out and buy materials. 6. They used my ladder/equipment. 7. Came unprepared daily 8.
