I tried to use an unopened gift card in an envelope I had given my daughter 7 years ago when she was at Tulane. Cashier said that it expired 2years ago since the gift cards are only good for 5 years. She said It says that on the card. But since the envelope had never been opened I had no way of knowing that. So I had to pay cash They could not give me a good reason why gift cards expire. They had the money for 7 years before I tried to use the card. I think the least they could have done was to say so sorry it expired but we appreciate your business so we will give you $10 off this service. Crappy customer service. Cute and fun mom & pop shop! Not only does it smell beautifully but they have so many neat products: candles, diffusers, lotions, soaps, etc. You name it in beauty and they probably have it. This shop is PERFECT for finding a gift for any woman as it has plenty of knick knacks along with every day needs. What really won me over though was their SALE. I walk in and two tables staring right at me had 50% and 75% off signs (and there was more product in the back too). What sold me even more was their STUDENT DISCOUNT (10%). I ended up buying a perfect and really cute diffuser, face mask, and card for $24, what a STEAL!! Thank goodness for being open on Sunday! Came into town during the Chicago Bears Vs. Saints football game....Boyfriend at the game....girlfriend at the spaahhhhhh.....cute, boutiquey place - rooms upstairs and cozy. Had a great masseuse - Deb - wonderful job with the right amount of pressure. Cozy feeling - definitely not a high end spa, but good quality none the less.... (I've been to pricier and very SPA - ish) places and didn't receive the massage that one would think they would get, but Deb was wonderful. Followed up the massage with a pedi - why not? I had time to kill, and it also was done very well. I had a hard time picking a color, but the salon pedicurist offered her opinion and it looked great (still looks great after a week)! I have been to a lot of "nail salons" since I moved to the westbank. I never quite had a relaxing experience at any of them. I found them LOUD and not the opposite of relaxing - frantic! Before moving to the westbank, I would go to Earthsavers for spa services. So finally I went back and I cannot believe I stopped going there. I have been for a few different services and this time was a mani/pedi with Glenda. She was very pleasant and did a great job! My feet were disastrous! She made them beautiful and I never felt judged. I also forgot about the sitting area upstairs( I was on Magazine Street). I was a little early and I sat there and prayed and thanked God for ALOT. I would have to say, this was quite literally the most pleasant spa experience I have ever had. I like to try different places, I work hard... so I pamper myself. To begin with, the atmosphere upon entry is quaint and intimate. I was greeted by a very sweet young lady working the front of the store. As I was browsing, the store manager approached me asking if I needed any assistance. I felt as if I was being paid attention to, but it was not overbearing. Next... we move onto my hot stone pedicure with Ms. Glenda, she's my go to! Amazing. Gentle. Soft. Personable. Professional. I love her! I was so impressed with this location I booked a massage and pedicure for my next visit. 10/10 I will definitely be back. I used to go to the location at Lakeside, never again. I got a great mani/pedi here from Cedra. Easily one of the best manicures I've ever had -- she took great care with my cuticles and really made sure the polish was perfect. 4 days later and there's no chipping, flaking, or crazing. I also liked that she really listened when I told her not to trim my big toes too close, and that I liked my nails square-oval, not square. (The latter may be trendy, but it makes my fingers look stubby.) One thing to point out is that this location is really not a day spa. No lockers, no robes, no showers. And I didn't see any dedicated massage/facial rooms, just nail stations. But it's very relaxing and nicely decorated. And the pedicure spa chairs are actually truly comfortable. The shop in front is full of all kinds of fun merchandise: Beauty products, but also cute pet stuff, accessories, cards & books, etc. Eclectic but cool. Not cheap - I think it was $70 for a mani/pedi -- but I got great service and results. Plus, they're open on Mondays! read more

I love this spa and retail location. It's in the middle of great restaurants and shops on Magazine St. across from Whole Foods. Only bummer is the search for a parking spot since it's all street parking so that can be a challenge. On my recent visit, I had a 60 minute Eminence Organic facial with Nina. My sister scheduled the appointments online but called a few days before to confirm through their answering service/call center. The day of, make sure to arrive a few minutes before your appointment time, especially if you are a new client. You will have to fill out a brief form asking basic information pertaining to the services you will be getting done. They have a cute little seating area upstairs where you wait until your designated facialist/massage therapist comes to greet you and bring you to your room. My facial with Nina was fantastic. She went over my concerns and since I already use Eminence products she suggested items she would use on me that day. We were pretty chatty with each other at the beginning of the facial since she found out I was visiting from Florida . But minutes in, I was passed out. The facial was totally relaxing. She even gave a head, arm, neck and shoulder massage. Just sad that it went so fast. It was totally worth the $80. You can add a tip on your card or leave a cash tip in an envelope. Only thing that could be a downside to some is that they do suggest items from the treatment for purchase. I ended up purchasing a few. They are pricey but I know what I'm getting with them since I'm a loyal user. But I didn't feel forced at all. I know it has to be part of their job to ask. I was so impressed with this place. The staff were so nice and because it's such a small store and 6 feet social distancing is nearly impossible, they were very vigilant about hygiene upon entrance. They did temperature checks, made everyone sign in, and also made everyone use hand sanitizer at the entrance. Obviously we also had to wear masks. As far as product this place has everything you can imagine in every scent you can imagine. My mom found this new candle she absolutely loved and my sister bought a hair product. The entire store smelled so good I didn't even want to leave lol. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because it's unimaginably expensive and I factor affordability into my ratings. We had a $100 gift card and that only bought 2 things! But I assume most people shopping there already know it's on the pricier side of things, so I still think it's a great store. read more

I came in here for a pedicure because I had received a gift card 2 years earlier and decided that I should use it eventually! I was very very excited about coming here, since I had heard great things about it and also a $50 pedicure should be pretty phenomenal! I did really enjoy my pedicure. Everyone who worked there was really friendly and the woman doing my nails let me try out a few colors before deciding (I have a hard time knowing which color I'm going to like best). The room is also very light and clean and they give you water and lots of magazines to read. However, there was nothing that made it worth $50 for a pedicure instead of the $30 I could pay other places. I wouldn't say that I got a bad pedicure here, there was just nothing that made it stand out for me in any way. Got the 20/20/20 massage with Ben. Its 20 min of back/neck, 20 min of scalp, and 20 min of reflexology... during the 20 min reflexology (I had never done it before, and was really interested in trying) I was so rested and relaxed that I actually fell asleep with a big 'ole smile on my face. Smile is still there. He was very knowledgeable and worked the crink in my back and lower back with expertise. I genuinely feel significantly better and less achey. I like a lot of deep pressure on my back and he was able to accommodate. I highly recommend him a massage therapist. While this service was reasonable. 1 hr for $75. Some of the other services seem to be on the pricer end. The interior is nice, clean, and intimate (ie cramped if your anywhere besides nyc). All and all I really liked it. I went for a massage not to hang out in the building. I would go back for another reflexology session. I was pretty impressed. read more

My best friend came in town for my wedding and we went here for one hour massages. The lady that greeted us when we walked in was very friendly and vivacious. We drew straws over who would get to be her new best friend. I won since my friend lives so far away. We went upstairs and filled out our forms. I found it a bit like going to the doctor's office, which took a bit of the shine off, and actually thought quite a few of the questions were really none of their business. We filled out the papers anyway and just left blank the items that we didn't care to answer. The room was comfortable and relaxing. I loved the heated table. I thought it would be too warm with the covers on, but it was actually the perfect temperature. The music wasn't annoying and Molly gave me a great massage. She spoke just enough to make you comfortable but was mostly quiet so that you could relax, which is the point. I would go back again based on this visit. The only real negative is that parking does rather suck, but if you are used to uptown, then you are used to sucky parking. Just remember to bring a comb/brush etc, because your hair can look a fright after a full body massage. read more

I was given a gift certificate to Earthsavers and was very eager to get myself a massage. I had a $50 card so I was able to get a back & neck massage. I called and scheduled a massage for 3 days after my call - not bad for a place that stays so busy. Upon arriving, they escort you upstairs and give you (strong) cucumber water to sip on while you fill out some forms and wait. I was placed in another room with another woman, which was weird at first because she was clearly trying to relax and the receptionist kept talking and talking on and on to me. The forms asked your standard questions about basic info, allergies, etc but then there were the weird ones that I didn't feel they needed to know for a massage - but I told myself, maybe the forms were standard for all services to keep it simple for them. I *think* my lady's name was Michelle - don't hold me to that though. We moved to the room where she told me to change and lie on the warm bed and get situated. She began on the front then worked her to my back and then my scalp - which I didn't know was included and was rather intense. The hot towel wrap was a nice addition to her completing her services, however. Now - there was a question on the form asking if I (or anyone filling out the form for that matter) bruised easily - kind of an odd question but I said no because to my knowledge - no, I don't just bruise randomly. But then... two days later, I woke up and notice what I didn't initially think was a bruise all over the front of shoulder, was a huge bruise... it stuck around for about 4 days following my massage and just wasn't a cute look. I know Michelle said I was the tensest she had seen in months BUT I didn't think that meant she pushed on my muscles so hard I would bruise! Ouch! All in all, it was okay - may give their mani/pedi a try next time. I recommend trying it out for a massage - just be careful with how tense you are when you go ;) read more

I've had several massages from here and one mani/pedi. Each massage was from a different woman, so the services were all different, but all really good. They even take into consideration what oils to use based on your preferences. The pedicure was the best pedicure i've had in my life. I've had better pedicure massages from other places, but they use all natural products. There is no chemical smell. They also use this spray for your heels. It made them feel like a baby's bottom. =) The owner was getting a manicure while I was there and she seemed a bit high and mighty... going on about random crap and my pedicurist (?) kept rolling her eyes. It was pretty funny. I've also had a pleasant experience in the store when purchasing items. They give you samples of products which made my decision of which facial cream to buy. read more

I just had an 80 minute deep tissue massage with Jasmine and cannot say enough great things about her. My massage was so relaxing, i actually fell asleep and woke up towards the end. I would definitely recommend her to others! I decided to browse a few of the Emininence products after my massage and couldn't help overhear the counter staff complaining about someone on their staff. This went on for a few minutes even with myself and another customer in the shop. As someone having worked in retail, I feel that the staff should have stopped and addressed our needs rather than continue "gossiping". I went with no expectations, just expecting a free mani/pedi. Can't beat that! So, I arrive and the person greeting me was such a sweetheart. This was a about two months ago so you'll have to excuse me for not remembering their names. She took me to the back and got me ready for the pedicure first. It was magical!!! I was literally falling asleep throughout the entire pedi. You would think that you would want to be awake for such a magical experience, but my eyes were just slowly closing and opening. Everything looked great, and they had all the new Essie colors so I was happy about that. Cocktail bling color is a must! After my pedi, I switched for the mani with a different person. The lady was great. She massaged my hands like they've never been massaged before. Boy, oh, boy! I was falling asleep during that too. First off, amazing experience and Karen was fantastic. Today was my first massage, and as a guy who also deals with social anxiety, I was very nervous. The staff made me feel incredibly comfortable through the whole experience. As for the massage, the only complaint is have is that I should have scheduled a longer session. Karen, my massage therapist, was incredible. She immediately developed a great rapport with me and was very good at helping me feel comfortable. And the massage was glorious. Went for a mani/pedi and it was a really awkward, unwelcoming experience. The aesthetician barely spoke to or acknowledged me the whole time. No hello, how are you, nice to meet you, thank you or have a nice day. The one time I dared speak to her she cut me off. At the end she gave me the little thin manicure flip flops and my shoes in a bag but didn't say where or if I could sit down to let the polish dry so I ended up walking to my car like that (though honestly I couldn't get out of there fast enough). Today was my first facial and I wasn't sure what to expect. Susana did an excellent job. She started off with a stellar neck, shoulder and arm massage. This was extremely relaxing, and she really went out of her way to knead all of the kinks out of my right shoulder. A friend of mine called to see if there were any available times for a massage. Jill, who answered the phone, in a very nasty way told her they didn't have that time. My friend had never mentioned a time. She proceeded to ask if there was any time available. Jill again in a very rude way said no we don't have anything and hung up. My friend who has a thick New Orleans accent, called me to call and inquire about a massage in order to see if I'd be treated the same way. I called and code switched to put on my most Caucasian sounding accent. I asked about massages. Jill was very helpful and kind, offering to squeeze me in, put me on the waiting list and call the other location to check their availability. My customer service experience was very different from my friend's. The difference was that they assumed she was black and I was not because of how we spoke. My friend initially assumed it was just a customer service issue until I called back and received completely opposite treatment. This is blatant discrimination. I went here for the first time this past Saturday for a Pedicure. I wasn't near as happy with the whole thing as I thought I would be, considering the price. I expected a nice, quiet and relaxing pedicure. It was none of the above. The lady that did my pedicure was very nice and my nails look great, but there was hardly any massage (like the description says on line) and I just couldn't believe how noisy it was. I got to listen to a bunch of women gossip and just a lot of chatting about nothing. I was not impressed. I hope that my visit was an unusual environment, but honestly I doubt it. This used to be an AMAZING place. Sadly, Earthsavers has gotten too big for its britches. Over the years, I've spent thousands here on massages and treatments. The last time I went in for a quick 30 minute massage to iron out some cramping I was having in my neck. Debra was available and I'd had her before, so that sounded fine. First, she was late, which I didn't mind at all. She apologized, and it was absolutely fine. We got into the room, and she started complaining that she wouldn't have enough time to do what she needed to do for my treatment. I said, "well, do you want to extend?" She left the room and got the appointment extended. On her way back in, I had my head out of the table to greet her and see the status. She abruptly SHOVED MY HEAD DOWN INTO THE TABLE and told me firmly "don't lift your head." From the beginning and throughout, she was red-faced, panicky, and flustered. It's not exactly the atmosphere one needs to relax out some stress. I asked her if she was having a rough day, and denied it. I was still confused as to why she had taken the liberty to roughly push my face into the face rest. The whole experience was so terrible that I could have cut the tension in the room with a cuticle clipper. To boot, her energy and demeanor was awful. It was SO BAD that I finally asked if I had offended her somehow. She said, "I don't know where all this is coming from..." as if I had a problem. I called to request not to be put with Debra ever again. I was quite upset. The manager offered to get in touch with the management office, which I said "fine". However, before she did that, she did some in-house 'investigating' and came back to say that Debra was not at fault and that maybe it wasn't a "match". WHAT!? The corporate office told me the same thing, that it wasn't a match. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN? I'm not paying for speed dating, I'm paying for you to rub my back and not be a completely intolerable jerk! The front desk women are phony enough they they seem authentically interested in your well-being...or your purchasing power. I always felt like I used to feel in Saks before they went commission-based...like the ones working there were sizing you up and had a chip on their shoulders. After my bad experience and the resulting snafu with the mismanagement, I'll never go here again. If you want to be treated like a doormat and not valued as a customer, try Earthsavers. read more
