They're really overpriced and I know I was provided shoddy work and was really pushed to do other things like an expensive oil change, and the one I got wasn't even complete. The attempted gaslighting was offensive saying I'm just not used how my car is because it's fixed now and it wasn't before. My brakes were so messed up that my car wouldn't go in reverse--this was incredibly stressful for me. I took my car to a couple of shops, made an appointment, and then called other places to see if I could get in sooner. From the very first phone call, my interaction with Merrill was drastically different from every other shop I contacted. They were warm, asked thoughtful questions, and managed to get me into the shop the very next morning. When I dropped off my car, I walked into a lively, welcoming environment. I was immediately greeted with a smile, and we talked about my car and the work they'd do. They assured me they'd call later with an update. While I was there, I overheard a conversation with another customer about her kids--not cars--which showed me that they genuinely care about the people they're helping. A couple of hours later, I got a call where they walked me through everything that needed fixing. I explained that I was financially strapped, and they went above and beyond to make sure I could get back on the road safely without breaking the bank. The prices they quoted were incredibly fair, especially given the quality of the products they used. I work in hospitality at a high level, so I really value experiencing great hospitality outside of bars and restaurants. This was one of those rare moments. Had a great service experience here on my 2000 Toyota Tacoma. I brought the vehicle in and they did an inspection on it letting me know what I needed to have done and the condition of the vehicle. They didn't suggest anything outlandish, and were extremely nice. The services were done in a timely manner. I had a temperature gauge on my cluster not working and they initially thought it was the sensor on the motor, I brought it back in to have that sensor replaced but they then tested it and determined the issue was with the cluster. They didn't make a useless repair, and gave really good recommendations. I wouldn't hesitate to bring your vehicle here. read more

I've been going to Merrill for years for three different vehicles. Somewhere around covid or even before - it seemed to change. At first, I found them honest, fairly priced, and doing quality work. Then, it slowly started to unravel. First, my partner took their car in for an exhaust issue when the catalytic converter was stolen. I don't remember what happened exactly but there were unresolved problems from the same issue that kept popping up and there were further charges and/or quotes - I said pull it and take it to the dealership. $500-$600 later the dealership resolved it on the first try - avoiding an additional/higher by $500+ quote that the dealership said wasn't even the problem. I kept going there because of my history with them, the staff seemed generally nice, they do work on old camper vans, and it's within walking distance. About a year ago, however, I was having problems with my check engine light in my car (which is admittedly old 2010). I took it to them a couple of different times for this and they quoted me $2,300+ for a 'possible' fix. At the same time, they told me my rear brakes were too unsafe to drive so I got all of my rear brakes done for over $2,000 and there was no indication prior that this work HAD to be done right then. Fast forward to now - a power steering error light came on and they quoted me $3,700+ to fix it - so I pulled it and went to a dealership. On the way, a low brake fluid light came on, which also happened a month prior, so I added fluid and had the dealership look at the brakes, power steering, and the check engine light. The power steering - they couldn't find a fault with because the codes had been cleared and it wasn't doing it anymore but Merrill did provide me with the codes they pulled which was nice. However, the dealership said the check engine light was on because something was unplugged and just needed to be plugged in again and it was fixed. They also diagnosed the rear brakes were leaking back driver (bad) and back passenger (slow). I called Merrill to see if my brakes were under warranty and they were and told them about the check engine light. At first they said they didn't see a $2,300+ quote given for the check engine over the phone and when I dropped it off they basically told me that there's no way it was something unplugged and I had to have paid the dealership to work on it. I told them they did it for a diagnosis fee and zero work besides plugging something in - that was all that was performed and I could show them the paperwork but they kept arguing with me. (Also - before this I had another shop literally laugh out loud when I told them what they wanted to do to fix it and charge me.) Then, I told them that I did not want to be charged for the brake repair as it was under warranty and they said they'd have to have their guy look at it before they could agree to that. I asked them if they thought a dealership would make it up? He still said they couldn't agree to that without looking at it and I told them I did not want to spend anymore money with them. I was so upset I had them work with my dad after that and they fixed the back driver leak under warranty but said they couldn't find the slow leak and that if it became a problem to bring it back under warranty. If it's shoddy work or parts and that's why it's there - I expected it all to be fixed - not just the really bad part. I'm completely disappointed and still upset. They told me I'd been coming to them for years - I agreed and believe they're not the same shop they used to be. I will be looking for service elsewhere and can hopefully again find someone honest, fairly priced, who does quality work and/or owns up to their mistakes and maybe even apologizes for it. They were super polite and professional. They answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Two great guys that were genuine and helpful. If you want to deal with expert mechanics go to Merrill Automotive. My Fiesta ST was making a horrible, front-end clunking noise when turning at low, low speeds. Multiple other shops kept misdiagnosing it and replacing suspension and steering parts under warranty - but it never fixed the problem. Paul at Merrill Automotive kept at it until he had it properly diagnosed and fixed. It's been months and the sound has never come back. (Just a note on the fix: the aftermarket brake pads were slightly too big and were getting hung up and then releasing when turning at low speeds. New OEM brake pads fixed it. A simple fix, but without an expert to diagnose the problem, I would still be dealing with it.) Chuck and Mike did a great job communicating. We've also taken other vehicles to Merrill Automotive and always had a good experience. read more

The parking lot was almost full - the place was busy given the start of a holiday weekend. Took my truck in to have it aligned. Appointment was for 10AM. I sat for over an hour and a half before they took me in back to tell me I needed ball joints and a few other things. I told them to just proceed with the alignment as the truck was just pulling to the right and not wandering all over the road. When they were done it still pulled to the right. I was not satisfied so I called them and made another appointment to come back in to have it fixed. They walked me outside to my truck when it was 'done' and told me all they did was swap the two front tires. It still pulls to the right. They claim it's because the ball joints need to be done. I call BS. Bad ball joints make a truck wander both directions. Too bad, we had been going to this shop since the 90s. It's gone down hill apparently. read more

My ac felt colder than any other car I've ever been in. Last time I brought my car in, my husband wanted me to ask the shop he had taken the car into their price for the work. Had them install camber arms (that I supplied) on my Mazda 3. Did a great job. Fast forward to a month ago. Wanted an estimate for springs, endlinks, camber arms, sway bar & an alignment all with my supplied parts & told me 1,600. It was a bit too much for me so fast forward to this week, I did the springs and end links myself. Set up an appointment for camber arms, sway bar & alignment and was told they don't do customer supplied parts. Interesting that they did when there was a $1600 price tag attached and oddly when they did the camber arms on my 3. I don't do business with dishonest companies. Lying to customers is bad business. 5 stars is hardly enough. I brought my car in after an accident because the key was stuck in the transmission and these guys had it fixed in no time! Moreover, even though it's not a body shop, they made sure the hood (which was pretty bent out of shape) was securely latched down so that I could still drive the car (will still 100% need to go to a body shop, but their work bought me some time!). They were so polite and kind and really went above and beyond. Also, I felt like the repair work they did was super reasonably priced - actually, they didn't even charge me for latching down the hood! I couldn't be more grateful. Came in for check on front axle and got the diagnostic pretty quickly. Decided to hold off and driving away noticed the radio was off. Wouldn't power back on and their tech looked at it and fuses without anything. They said purely coincidental and they're guy did nothing, probably my fault for having after market radio and subwoofer with wires not hooked up. They even have another location for electric specific but told me to go check it out at Car Toys or something. I took off radio and found "reset" indent that I held for a while and it turned back on. I'm not mad if they accidentally turned it off or tripped reset. I'm mad about how dismissive their attitude was around helping me resolve something that only popped up after they did the diagnostic. At least off free diagnostic for electric at their other place. Felt like they were just trying to blame me and get out of helping - won't be returning for any services. read more

This alignment shop was recommended by one of my friends that has dealership in the area. When I called to make an appointment for my Audi I was told it will take one to two hours to do alignment and price would be $100. (What is more than usual shops) tree days later when I checked in totally different story it will take them four hours to do alignment and price is $249. When I asked why so much for alignment they stated it is Audi needs a lot of tweaking. I walked out to read reviews about this shop only thing that I noticed was greed. Absolutely amazing! My fiance and I went in early this morning because our pet snake slithered into the dashboard of our car last night. With the weather being as cold as it was, we were extremely concerned he would not make it. However, thanks to Mike, Paul, and Michael, he is alive and well! Not only did they drop what they were doing immediately to handle our emergency. They also assisted us in nursing him back to life. We called many auto shops before contacting them and everyone turned us down. Merrills told us to bring our vehicle in immediately, as they sensed our emergency. I had my wife take my 2011 subaru forester in for an alignment. They charged $167.04 , which included an electronic stability control reset. I went to my independent subaru mechanic and he informed me the ESC was not necessary on a 2011. Instead of paying $80, I got the privilige of paying extra $167.04 In addition to this, their servcice consultant said that I needed a new serpentinw belt because mine was cracked. I also was informed I needed a new upper radiator hose. My Subaru mechanic said there was nothing wrong with either of these. He has been my mechaning since 1981. Merill said that I needed a power steerin fluid exchange, again my subaru mechanic said this was not necessary. I don't like being taken advange of and I wil NEVER again take my car to Merill. read more

I recently purchased my first RV (1996 Fleetwood Flair 22D) and I had Merrill check it out for general road worthiness. They performed a thorough chassis inspection and identified a few items which needed immediate repair including new front coil springs, ball joints, and rocker arm bushings as well as a damaged radiator housing. Plus they rotated my tires, aligned the wheels, and changed out all my fluids. The suspension work raised the front end of my unit several inches and greatly improved both the handling and steering of my vehicle as well as the ride experience. They scheduled my repairs within just a few days and then performed all the work in a timely fashion for what I consider a reasonable cost. I am very pleased with the results. read more

I was scheduled for brake adjustment and wheel bearing grease repack. They scheduled 1 week in advance and did not honor my reservation. After another 24 hours late, I got the trailer and found the electric brakes were left unconnected (no brakes) on one wheel. Another wheel was totally out of adjustment (skidding 95% off the time even with controller set at zero). I would never trust this shop to do work on such a critical component of my trailer -- I consider my self luck to be alive. read more

I was a customer since 2008. There must have been a change in ownership or management since my last visit, because their customer service tactics have radically changed. My experience in early August 2016 will be the last time I ever use this vendor. I didn't start the many, many "Fuck You's" in the exchange I had with the supervisor which escalated into a shouting match when I questioned their diagnostic conclusion (which in no way was related to the problem they were tasked to repair), but I was the last to use it as I was told to "leave the premises". That's a surefire way to lose a loyal customer. read more

If you have any wheel balance issues these are the guys to figure it out. Slightly more expensive than regular wheel balancing, but it is a road force balance and can get your issues sorted. Called for a quote on an alignment. He quoted a price for the alignment, then proceeded to tell me that because my car is newer the computer would need to be reset with an additional $90 fee. When I contacted Honda they said Hondas do not need their computer reset as it will automatically calibrate itself. I am sure that there are some cars that need this, but good grief what a rip off!! Would not recommend coming here for ethical purposes as when I asked the guy why Honda is charging $90 for the entire alignment, he stated" well, they must not be resetting your computer for you, but I still recommend it for safety".
