Total throw back to the 70's. Huge portions, neon red sweet and sour chicken and basically bland except for the salt. It's been awhile since Chinese takeout was on my list of things to get but here we are. These guys are working hard pushing the food out to the masses. I was watching a bit as they were finishing up my order. They moved like machines, they done this before. A fist full of this, a handful of that and a pinch of you know. All perfectly fine. If I can give this restaurant a zero star, I would. Be aware of this establishment.!!! We ordered a to go meal that came with a soup. When I tell you that this soup smelled like urine and tasted just like urine I'm not exaggerating.. health department might wanna show up because this is disgusting smelled straight like ammonia like someone had pissed in the soup!!! Quick service I love this restaurant is the best restaurant that I've tasted over the different Chinese restaurants in the city of Modesto. They're quick they're fast they give you a lot of food for the price. The restaurant is clean is quiet in there cause most of the people always pick up or get it delivered Music or sound is very low great always great and always out there for you when they say it's ready in 10 minutes is ready in 10 minutes. They have Chinese sticks you ask them for sauce, hot mustard, fruit, sweet-and-sour soy sauce, fortune, cookies, etc. they give it to you Great service. I wouldn't do another Chinese place in Modesto. Haven't found one yet that can beat them five stars. read more

I am truly impressed with this Chinese restaurant. I would've given this place five star rating if they had my item. (Salt and pepper pork chop). But I ordered on the phone and it was supposed to be ready in 10 minutes which is pretty impressive and when I came in to pick up my food, the girl knew which order was mine before I said a word. Seems like a typical small Chinese restaurant. The food is good and satisfies your cravings. Portions are generous. Dependable. We order from East China about once a month. The restaurant looks like it has had no updates or renovations in a few decades. Takeout is the best option. Fast service. But they put it in styrofoam containers. Wish it was the old fashioned wax paper buckets from 20th century Chinese restaurants. Recommended for takeout if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Unfortunately this was probably the worst Chinese food I've had... it was soggy and my broccoli beef was not sealed and spilled all over my car. I ordered through DoorDash so maybe they felt like it didn't have to be good. On top of that, it had no Flavor whatsoever... no salt or anything. The udon noodles I ordered had no sauce at all?? First time in this place I walk in no hello or nothing I waited patiently for my turn when it got to me I said hi it's my first time here nothing no response just looked at me I then asked if they had more combo plates then the ones listed he then said there all combo plates I'm like ok cool so I ordered orange and garlic chicken and there hot and sour soup it tasted like and smelled like throw up and when I opened the combo plates the chicken was hot on some pieces and only warm on others and not much flavor from either of them they both taste about the same not to mention the egg rolls are really small I won't be back anytime soon I'll just go around the corner to (China Garden) food is good always hot good flavor and giant egg rolls read more

I ordered to go . Staff was nice . Fried rice was delicious. I ordered garlic chicken and broccoli and the chicken was not fresh at all ! It was chewy and not soft at all . The container was piping hot but chicken was stale tasting as if it was reheated . The chicken was around $15 with steamed rice but I wanted fried and to make it fried was an extra $4. I only ate the rice . It probably would have been fresh if I had ordered to dine in . I ordered to go, I really enjoyed it. My go too for Chinese food, is always sweet and sour. The regular place I go to wasn't open; so I tried this restaurant. Their sweet-and-sour was on point. It was nice and crispy, even though it was covered in sweet-and-sour sauce, didn't have that sogginess that tends to come with this dish. Noodles were good. I would definitely go back. I tried this location for pick up. Inside were clean, and the kitchen area seemed well managed. The line of people was also impressive. Sadly the food seemed lack luster. Ordered parchment wrapped chicken, Mongolian beef, and pork fried rice. Our parchment wrapped chicken was over cooked and burnt insides on all of them. The Mongolian beef was okay, but it tasted just like the burnt parchment wrapped chicken? Lastly was the fried rice, this was edible yet also bland. Don't buy their sweet and sour prawns! There are barely prawns in them! It's all flour and it is raw undercooked flour! No good. Not consistent on their chow mein or fried rice either! What a waste of money! read more

I reviewed this restaurant 8 years ago and it was fantastic. Totally downhill from there. I ordered the house egg foo young and it was not at all good. Chopped up in pieces with gravy on the side with ALL the beef, chicken, shrimp mixed in the gravy. I ordered the egg foo young as a healthy carb option but this isn't it! THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN MODESTO! only reason I didn't put 5 stars is because sometimes you wait to even be greeted for a long time but worth the wait. Ordered food on the phone at :4:48 pm. They told me 15-20 minutes. Showed up at 5:10 pm and was told it would be 15-20 minutes. Sat there waiting for an additional 30 minutes. I went to the counter and asked how long it would be and they told me 5-10 minutes. People came after us, paid after us and left before us. I won't be back. This has happened before, but not to this level. read more

Been coming here for years .. I usually get the garlic chicken combo. Always fresh & tasty. This batch was dry, no crunch, little garlic sauce. I ate 1/3 of it & threw the rest out. I remember it being hot, crispy & fresh. The fried dumplings were ok. Ate 2 of them, tossed the rest. Not sure if I'll go back. read more

I did not realize it was under new ownership! The food is not as good as before, they got my order wrong the first time giving me sweet and sour chicken #5 when I ordered #7 shrimp chow mein but I tried them again and the vegetable chow mein was a miss noodles were overcooked and my to-go plate was full of liquid. I just tried to order lunch combos and they were trying to charge extra for each combo with fried rice/chow mein without meat, saying they have to cook it special. It's not like we are upgrading to meat, shrimp or anything special. Thought this place was a restaurant and everything was cooked. We love coming here. Their family meals are large and leave lots to take home. I have a family of 6 and we usually have enough left over for two more meals. My kids live the foil chicken and orange chicken. My wife loves their Moo Shoo Pork. Not your fanciest place but the food is great and the service is always with a smile and very attentive. read more

I think this place has all the right combinations as far as food, price and service(good, cheap and friendly). The place does need little extra cleaning and sometimes you have to wait little longer for your food. read more

The chow mein is exactly like a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup. The fried rice has no flavor or color. Luckily the garlic chicken was good, but pretty disappointed with rice and chow mein. read more
