I've been coming to Dynasty Garden for the past 2 decades, usually when I'm visiting my cousin or nephews. It's the only Chinese restaurant that I know of that serves dim sum, albeit a limited menu. It has the dim sum basics: har gow, siu mai, chicken feet, rice rolls, steamed & baked buns, egg tart; most of which are reasonably priced with moderate portions, & executed as well as can be for this area. There's a per person tea charge if you order tea during dim sum/lunch; I haven't dine here for dinner so I'm not sure if that surcharge applies in the evening. When I remember, I usually bring my own loose leaf teas from home like tie guan yin (goddess), but lately I've been favoring white or blooming teas (though Dynasty Garden doesn't have a clear tea pot to admire the watery bloom). The regular menu is more expansive: appetizer, salad, soup, beef, pork, lamb, poultry, vegetables, seafood (even fresh fish at MP!), mu shu, sweet & sour, egg foo young, mein & noodles, & fried rice; they also have a weight watcher (without oil, starch, or sugar) & lunch special (served between 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM with egg flower soup, fried wonton, & steamed rice, add $1.00 for fried rice or chow mein upgrade) menu; moderate prices with normal to generous servings. The regular menu items are on par in flavor & execution... with our favorites: Braised Beef Stew in Hot Pot (available post pandemic... this is my fav, flavorful rich, savory, tender cuts of melt-in-your-mouth beef), Hot Spiced Bean Curd (aka mapo tofu; has a nice heat), Hot Spiced String Beans (good texture, not spicy otherwise my son wouldn't eat it; has been eating it since he was 3), Lemon Chicken (my cousin's & her husband's fav... good citrusy pucker with some sweetness), Peking Style Spare Ribs (rich umami depth of savory sweetness & tanginess... finger-lickin' delish!), Salt & Pepper Pork (aromatic with a crisp crust & juicy interior pork, sometimes there's a couple of bad cuts & it's super dry), Beef Chow Fun (it's not bad, but doesn't always have enough "鑊氣" (wok hei) for that complex smoky-char that I like for added texture & savoriness, & sometimes the noods are overcooked so they break when I'm scooping a portion). If I'm not dining onsite, it's usually a take-out order to my oldest nephew's who lives in Riverbank, about 15-mins. away. The food usually stays warm, except dim sum items sometimes don't hold up as well, usually it's the dumplings, noodles, & rice rolls that have condensation issues causing the texture to be a bit gummy. Service is great, friendly & attentive... in the early days, my uncle & aunt must frequent the restaurant enough that the servers seem to know their preferences? Or maybe it's because we're speaking Cantonese? I try to practice the language every chance I get since my parents are no longer around. Every so often, I hear an American accent (yes, I'm an ABC: American born Chinese, but my 1st language was Cantonese because my Mom was illiterate & spoke only Cantonese) when I'm out of practice. Water & tea pot refills are replenished enough that I don't always have to flag a server. Basic decor, moderate dining room that accommodates up to 12-person tables; large tables include a lazy susan for easy reach. Even at capacity, we can hold a conversation without raising our voices, except when we're at a large table, then a little shouting is needed. Our most recent trip, we stayed in the dining room's left side for our Saturday lunch. This is a tad concerning because there's no other Chinese restaurant in the area like Dynasty Garden, particularly one that includes seasonal fresh fish. With a lack of Chinese restaurants, particularly a dim sum menu, Dynasty Garden is a standalone in this area so we're are fans by their quality Chinese food & lack of choice. This is the best in Central Valley! Recommended: See above for dim sum & family favorites of regular menu.

Last review was 10 years ago. Still our favorite restaurant for Chinese n such a beautiful family that runs it!! Food is consistent, taste good & fresh. Portions are a good size. Family that runs the business remembers you when you walk in. Very friendly. Food is delicious. We sometimes show up at eight they close at 8:30 so we'll call ahead and place our order when we come in food is ready for us waiting on our table piping hot. Ask for their special sauce. They make their own hot sauce and a chili oil. So good!!

Had their HK pan fried noodles and it was delicious. Combo proteins of beef, pork, chicken and shrimp with bok choy, sugar peas and carrots. Look forward to trying other options on the menu.

Ask the Community - Dynasty Garden

Do the egg rolls have meat or do they have a meatless option?

My family has been to Dynasty several times and have ordered complete vegetarian meals, including the spring rolls (they don't have egg rolls on their menu) and have enjoyed every meatless bite! 🍜🍲🍚🥠

    Is domain served on sundays?

    Bring yelp with you!

Is dim sum only served on the weekends or during the week to?

We just went there this week and they have it on Weekdays too. Not sure if it's limited hours.. some places are between 11-2.. but definitely have during the weekdays

Is dim sum served all day, if not when is it over?

No it ends in the early afternoon, you can get steamed items during dinner but have to get a certain amount.

    Do you serve peking duck?

    I think they do.

It was my first time eating at House Of Potsticker as I usually steer away from Chinese food considering I grew up eating it literally all of the time. Dined in with my partner, mom and uncle on a Saturday afternoon and inside was basically empty. I'm going to assume that there are more takeout orders. My personal staple when eating Chinese food is honey walnut prawns and theirs definitely hit the spot. The prawns were huge and perfectly fried before tossed in the sauce. Another staple is veggies so today we opted for the sautéed cabbage and it was simple yet so satisfying. My partner chose the Mongolian beef (extra spice) and chicken fried rice. He couldn't stop talking about how good it was.. like seriously, he kept mentioning it the next day. I honestly really look forward to having Chinese food from House Of Potsticker the next time I'm in Modesto.

Will probably go back again to give their Dim Sum a try. PROS: - GREAT LOCATION in the middle of Lincoln Village Shopping Center & lots of available parking spaces. - Ordered the Fried Garlic Chicken, Broccoli Beef & House Special Chow Mein. Good flavor & volume for the price. - This may be commonsensical, but while it was quite cold outside on this January evening, management kept the temperature of the dining area at a warm level. I bring this point up since a lot of restaurants in Stockton & Lodi have turned the thermostats of their dining areas down to cut overhead costs, but this place kept their dining area warm & comfy. CONS: - It seems obvious that they only have one chef working in their kitchen, since it took almost 30 minutes to complete my order. Sure, they had to serve other customers dining in, as well as handle a constant flow of pick-up orders, but since it was peak order time on a Friday night, they should have more staff in the kitchen to quickly support the order volume. - While I mentioned in the "PROS" section above, the food has good flavor and volume for the price. The downside is that the overall flavors are not outstanding nor memorable, which doesn't allow for much separation with other mainstream Chinese restaurants, serving the same dishes in Stockton. SUMMARY: If you're in the Lincoln Village area, want to eat Chinese food and are not in a particular hurry, this is a good place to park the car and sit down for a while. If you are in a hurry, better to phone in your order beforehand to cut the waiting time. Don't expect exotic food presentations and flavors, but don't expect massive damage to your wallet either.

It's an excellent place to go rather than going to a traditional dim sum restaurant. We came yesterday and filled out a sheet of their menu and how many quantities we wanted. The crispy shrimp balls were on the smaller end but they were still delicious. Their pineapple bun is also delicious and has a nice crisp texture. Their black bean spare rib with rice noodles isn't bad either but could be a bit more flavorful and seasoned more; most of the time it was bland. As far as drinks, I recommend their Hong Kong Tea (iced) and Thai tea. Both are sweetened perfectly and pairs nicely after each bite. I can't wait to come back again!

As always, we ordered too much food but were happy to take home leftovers. For two people, we ordered: -hot & spicy pork xiao long bao (XLB): omg, could be the best XLB we've had! Spice was just right, very soupy, good texture to dumpling -beef XLB: sooo good! Dumplings were made well, and so much soup inside! Good flavor to the beef. Excited to try the other flavors (chicken, regular pork) next time -juicy pan fried pork buns: unique, and verrry good! Lots of soup inside, great flavor! It's like an XLB meets fried bun! And so cute too. A little tricky to eat but would get it again for sure -braised beef noodle soup: loved the texture of the noodles, taste was a little bland, but a nice comforting bowl on a cold day -shrimp & pork siu mai: good. On top of that, an automatic gratuity was added to a table of only three people with one of them being 4 year old. She barely even ate with tea price per person. I don't mind paying premium prices for great food and service, but I do expect transparency. Many of the dim sum items also felt extremely overpriced, $9 for two egg tarts is hard to justify and sadly they weren't worth that. Felt like it was not fresh.
