    Dim sum menu and price
    Leslie Q.

Came to Dynasty Garden after doing a quick "dim sum" search in Modesto. I had been craving dim sum for some time and since we were in town, I figured why not try somewhere new to me? Walking in on a Saturday afternoon (it was almost 3PM when we entered), you're met with a check-in counter. The inside is decorated much like a typical Chinese restaurant: round tables w a lazy susan, dark moody carpet, and infrastructure/roof tiling on the back wall that makes it look like we're dining right outside a traditional cafe in China. We were quickly seated and brought a regular menu and a dim sum menu. I liked that the dim sum menu contained pictures for easy point and order. But instead of pointing like a normal person, I brought out my broken Canto to order and I think I impressed uncle enough to get a complimentary bowl of egg flower soup lol. We ended up ordering: - Orange chicken lunch special: this comes with white rice or you can upgrade to fried rice or chow mein for an extra dollar. SO upgraded to chow mein and the plate that came out was HUGE. Was not expecting such a large portion, but I am not complaining at all. The chicken was sauced perfectly and he said the noodles were aight. - Ha gow (shrimp dumpling): these had thicker wrapping, but the dumplings themselves were stuffed. Good flavor - Shu mai (pork and shrimp dumpling): meaty, yummy. The skins sorta stuck to the bottom container though - Fong zhao (chicken feet): super delicious, but only came with 3 measly claws - Ham sui gok (fried glutinous rice pork dumpling): fried mochi goodness with delicious meat filling (even if the filling was a little sparse) - Gou choy gow (chive dumpling): my personal favorite dim sum dish; the one here was not my favorite, but it did its job. - Salt and pepper pork spareribs: we ordered this as an alternative when they told me they were out of their pineapple custard bun (bolo bao)... don't ask me how I went from dessert to this, but I liked it. The meat was kinda thin, but the flavor was there. We happened to have our meal right when the staff was having theirs right behind us. So by the time we were ready for the check, we kind of sat around waiting for someone to check on us. Our total came to about $60. I noticed that 2 of the dim sum dishes were marked as "large", at about $6.10 per dish. I wish this was posted on the dim sum menu somewhere... I only saw the $5.50 price tag. Overall, Dynasty Garden nostalgically reminds me of home, so I would definitely return.

Last review was 10 years ago. Still our favorite restaurant for Chinese n such a beautiful family that runs it!! Food is consistent, taste good & fresh. Portions are a good size. Family that runs the business remembers you when you walk in. Very friendly. Food is delicious. We sometimes show up at eight they close at 8:30 so we'll call ahead and place our order when we come in food is ready for us waiting on our table piping hot. Ask for their special sauce. They make their own hot sauce and a chili oil. So good!!

Had their HK pan fried noodles and it was delicious. Combo proteins of beef, pork, chicken and shrimp with bok choy, sugar peas and carrots. Look forward to trying other options on the menu.

Ask the Community - Dynasty Garden

Do the egg rolls have meat or do they have a meatless option?

My family has been to Dynasty several times and have ordered complete vegetarian meals, including the spring rolls (they don't have egg rolls on their menu) and have enjoyed every meatless bite! 🍜🍲🍚🥠

    Is domain served on sundays?

    Bring yelp with you!

Is dim sum only served on the weekends or during the week to?

We just went there this week and they have it on Weekdays too. Not sure if it's limited hours.. some places are between 11-2.. but definitely have during the weekdays

Is dim sum served all day, if not when is it over?

No it ends in the early afternoon, you can get steamed items during dinner but have to get a certain amount.

    Do you serve peking duck?

    I think they do.

It's an excellent place to go rather than going to a traditional dim sum restaurant. We came yesterday and filled out a sheet of their menu and how many quantities we wanted. My wife and I enjoyed their pork sui mai and pork & shrimp chive dumpling. The sui mai prices are big and full of flavor. I highly recommend dipping each item into their house made chili oil. The crispy shrimp balls were on the smaller end but they were still delicious. Their pineapple bun is also delicious and has a nice crisp texture. Their black bean spare rib with rice noodles isn't bad either but could be a bit more flavorful and seasoned more; most of the time it was bland. As far as drinks, I recommend their Hong Kong Tea (iced) and Thai tea. Both are sweetened perfectly and pairs nicely after each bite. I can't wait to come back again!

Vicky, our server was very attentive, sweet, caring and provided the best customer service I've ever witnessed in a long time. The dumpling maker always smiling. Staff is very nice. The restaurant is really clean. A lot of tables and chairs, I love sitting in the booths. Now I'll have to drive all the way to Walnut Creek location for some dumplings! We were given menus but there's also a QR code on the table so kinda confusing if we were to order ourselves or not. I was just about to order on my phone when a lady came to take our orders. As always, we ordered too much food but were happy to take home leftovers. For two people, we ordered: -hot & spicy pork xiao long bao (XLB): omg, could be the best XLB we've had! Spice was just right, very soupy, good texture to dumpling -beef XLB: sooo good! Dumplings were made well, and so much soup inside! Good flavor to the beef. Excited to try the other flavors (chicken, regular pork) next time -juicy pan fried pork buns: unique, and verrry good! Lots of soup inside, great flavor! It's like an XLB meets fried bun! And so cute too. A little tricky to eat but would get it again for sure -braised beef noodle soup: loved the texture of the noodles, taste was a little bland, but a nice comforting bowl on a cold day -shrimp & pork siu mai: good. A bit on the small side, but you get 6 of them in one order -steamed bbq pork buns: good, nothing especially standout Decor is minimal, with a partial open kitchen. But the cool thing is the art on the wall-- it's 3D and is different from most Asian restaurant decor Restrooms were fine, nothing fancy, but seemed clean enough Come for the dumplings!!!

When I brought it up and even pointed out the worker, the staff claimed they had no idea what I was talking about. At that point, I just let it go but honestly, it didn't get any better from there. Every dish we ordered was bland, lacked flavor, and wasn't consistent at all. To make matters worse, I noticed something concerning near the cashier. Each dish tasted better than the other!! My husband has gout but he's able to find plenty to eat without seafood. We ended the meal with mango pudding and it was the perfect finish to our glorious meal, sweet and slightly salty, with a fun note. My only complaint is when the bill came it showed an 18% service charge, so we thought that that's gratuity and didn't give much more. Later my husband saw a posted notice on the door that the service charge is for workers benefit and not tip, so we should have given more tip on top of that, but it was too late by the time I found out (husband didn't tell me until after we got home). I don't understand why customers should be responsible for covering the restaurant's internal expenses on top of already expensive menu prices. The explanation for this service fee is only in English displayed at the bottom of their menu, even though most customers are Chinese. Many people would never know what they're being charged for. It feels inconsiderate and misleading. Overall, the experience was disappointing and not worth the money.
