My family has played in a lot of escape rooms, and East Coast is one of the best! Our group of 8 did the Boardwalk room, which is designed to look like the boardwalk with walk up games and a pizzeria. There were a lot of puzzles and locks for us to figure out, so we all had something to do at any given time. There was only one puzzle I would have to say wasn't particularly intuitive, but we had so many people with so many points of view that it didn't even slow us down. They currently take online reservations only and they unlock the front door fifteen minutes before your start time, so take that into account. The strip mall they are in is extremely run down, but there is a nice bar next door to enjoy a celebratory drink when you're done. read more

What an amazing time! I am a research addict and since this was my first escape room and I had wanted to try one for years, I wanted the best. I was not led astray by the reviews. The building may not seem like much on the outside but as the saying goes, it's what's on the inside that counts. The staff was friendly and helpful and the experience is worth every penny (we booked a private room). The decor of the room fit the puzzle perfectly and the authenticity was a little spooky (which was perfect), it wasn't cheesy looking but rather made you feel like it was all real. We chose the hardest room, the Vampires Lair. From the moment we stepped through the door our hearts were pumping, because like I said the setting was spot on. The quality of craftsmanship created a fully immersive atmosphere that added to the excitement. I couldn't believe how much team effort it took to do one of these but I will say, regardless of the group dynamic going in, this experience will force you to work well together (if you want to succeed). Sadly 2 people bailed last minute so we only had 4 people and despite failing (we didn't make it by 2 puzzles arggg) it was so much fun but here's a small tip, make sure you have at least 6 people. My biggest tip is to remember it's a game and if you want to enjoy yourselves choose the right spot, this one, East Coast Escape Room, because quality counts and this was definitely a memorable activity. read more

I've been here three times so it was obviously fun enough to return! You get your money's worth. The staff was wonderful. I love the fact that they give you the option to close out the room for an additional fee. I've done other escape rooms where we got stuck with strangers and it was not a good time. Definitely a lack of teamwork there! I did Deadwood Cabin with a group of four and it was perfect because the room is quite small. We escaped on time and it was a lot of fun. Only one puzzle gave us a hard time. I did Summerfield Place with a group of four and did not escape in time, though we came close. I did not enjoy what happened when we failed!!! I did the Vampire's Lair with a group of three and escaped with less than one minute to spare. This room was my favorite of the three. read more

Thank you, East Coast Escape, for blowing the local competition out of the water. It's like night and day. Trust me. We've done At Death's Door, Deadwood Cabin, and Summerfield Place, which have all been successfully tackled... and yet they're all very challenging rooms in their own way. The clue masters are on point, the props are not rundown, the puzzles are difficult, and... if you follow my other reviews... they normally have one scarier-themed room (this is the best for me - solving puzzles while on your toes). Also, these guys just added the "book entire room" option online for an extreeeeemely reasonable price. Every place needs to do this!!! 4-stars awarded to this place. The rooms are really good. East Coast Escape room was my 4th escape room and, so far, my favorite one. The main reason for this is that I felt the difficulty level was perfectly calibrated. Other escape rooms I have participated in were either too difficult, featured puzzles that were too obscure, or lacked continuity and left people wondering what exactly they were supposed to be doing. We did the Death's Door themed room and found everything to be just right. Our group got out with ~5 minutes to spare and was active throughout the session. We pretty much knew, at all times, what puzzles needed to be solved which allowed us to focus on using our brains and teamwork rather than wandering aimlessly as sometimes happens in these sort of rooms. There was also a pretty nice twist which I won't elaborate on. Highly recommended for team building and just having a fun time, in general. read more

This was one of my favorite escape rooms. We did the Boardwalk room and it was really fun. There were a lot of different types of puzzles, so something or everyone to solve. It was challenging and the last clue was confusing, but overall, it was good. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the space was clean and well thought out. read more

I'm a huge fan of escape rooms mainly because they're fun and challenging, and that feeling of accomplishment is always a great boost. I travel for work and sometimes I'm traveling alone, which on a day off can get, well, lonely. I decided to call this location to see if they would let a single person do a room and they welcomed me happily. I decided to do the Boardwalk room and I had SO MUCH FUN. This room was very physical and hands on and it definitely crushed my loneliness and boredom! Josh was a great game master and helped me out fast and efficiently as to not waste any of my countdown. Although I didn't make it out, he told me I did really well for one person, and some groups hadn't gotten to where I made it. He told me I should try Sorcerers chamber because it would be slightly easier and less physical and more logic. I knew I had to come back. The next day before I left the area, I came back and had another amazing time. This time I had Nick as a game master and he was also great! Clues were clever, helpful and fast both days. I even made it out alone! I loved the theme and had the best time. Both rooms were phenomenal, and although I've done maybe 15 rooms so far, this place stood out as one of the best. I also learned that they are original and the owners make them all. The attention to detail, like the clock placements really set them apart. They work them into the room and make it fully immersive, even though they didn't "have to." Both rooms had a perfect flow to the puzzles. Quality, top notch work. I took a gamble on this place because they don't have many reviews, but that gamble seriously paid off!!! I am visiting from LA, where I have done about 75 escape rooms and some truly top notch ones and this place seriously compares with some of the greats! We did the Vampire room and the puzzles were fun and inventive and fit the theme very well! Our group of 6, half newbies, had a total blast! Everyone wants to go back and do the other rooms!
