We have huge double doors with multi point locks and the mechanism broke inside so that one door would not lock. Larry, from East Cooper Lock & Safe, came the next day, installed a new mechanism and noticed the other door was catching on top so fixed that too. I would not recommend they do not show up for their work orders. When I called they said oops did not give the work order to the service person. No call no service and I waited twice from 1-5 pm and no show no call. So call someone else. They do not know what good customer service. He even said we really just don't want to do the job. He could have told me that from the first call instead of stringing me along for weeks. read more

The service in this is pretty good. Both of the employees jumped in to help me immediatly to find a solution for my trunk key. Unfortunately, they didn't had the knowhow on the car so they reffered me to one of their former employees to help me. The guys were very friendly. If I could give these guys less than one star, I would! We had an appointment set up on December 22 at 11:30am to have some work done. At noon, the locksmith still had not arrived, so we left a voicemail message on his cell phone. At 2:30pm, he finally texted back (he couldn't be bothered to actually make a phone call, I guess). It was too late to do anything that day, so we rescheduled for December 29 at the same time. I made numerous attempts to contact the locksmith to find out what exactly happened, but my calls were never returned. On December 29, 11:30am came and went with no locksmith. He never showed up, nor did he call or text to explain himself. I texted him later in the day telling him not to bother showing up (like he was going to show up anyway), and that we would be finding another locksmith. This company has supposedly been in business since 1981. With a business acumen like this, I don't see how! This is the absolute worst customer service that I have experienced in a very long time. There are too many locksmiths out there to be treating your customers like that! You might think that you are something special, but you're not. Long story short, stay far away from East Cooper Lock & Safe!! read more

I tried to switch out the top and bottom locks of the man door in my garage. When I had a problem, I immediately contacted East Cooper Lock and Safe, feeling comfortable that they would rescue me! I knew to trust them, as they rekeyed all of my exterior locks when I purchased my home seven years ago. Jeremy came out and explained where I had erred. He was very patient with all of my questions. They suggested that if I email them documents to identify car and confirm ownership that they could cut a key Monday for me without having to come out to my house/car. I needed a part by an absolute date that was 3 weeks away. The salesman that took my order told me that it wouldn't be a problem. I did not hear back, so 4 days before my deadline, I called them. Jason, the manager, told me it had not been ordered. He told me he didn't give a SH#% and hung up on me. I tried locating the owner and per the SC Secretary of State, East Cooper Lock and Safe was created in 1990 was dissolved in 2013. Not sure who owns today's East Cooper Lock and Safe but it is certainly NOT the same, kind people that have served the Mt Pleasant community in the past. Our local small business owners don't stand a chance if vendors like these chase people to big box stores or to online options. I have been trying to get new keys made by this company for over a month to no avail. They kept telling me that the keys were in the order and it should only take 1-2 weeks for the keys to come in and that they would call me once the keys came in. I called them after about 1 week and 2 weeks to check and they said the order for the keys had been placed but hadn't came in yet. I checked back again about 2-3 weeks later and was told the wrong product had been ordered. Nobody contacted me or my wife this entire time! I would never recommend this company to anybody! I hope they do better work for house locks, not that it would be difficult. read more

I had the worst experience at ECL&S with a completely incapable, unprofessional, erude and inconsiderate male employee. It all started going down hill when I realized the front door lock set this person ordered for did not come with a thick door kit, which I paid for and was told by this person that he was ordering for me. The manufacturer told me this person did not request that lot when he placed the order. By the way, I placed this order well in advance of when my new front door was due to be installed so I would have the lock set in time. So he never apologized or accepted responsibility for not placing the correct order. He did tell me he would request the thick door from the manufacturer, Emtek, on a Friday overnight so I would have it Monday by 10:30 when UPS always arrived at the shop. At 4pm on Monday, after calling several times to ask if the parts had arrived and being told by this person that the "tracking" information said it would arrive Monday I called Emtek. They said no order was placed on the previous Friday. When I asked this person about this he presented a copy of an email from Emtek to ECL@S with nothing more on it than the email addresses, no content what so ever. He said that was his order confirmation. I said that was insufficient and he said that's all he had because the owner had "locked down the computer". So again, with no apologies or acceptance of responsibility, he proceeded to order the needed kit from Emtek and have it sent over night. The kit arrived Tuesdays, I I picked it up and when my installer started working on it, he realized all the parts were not sent. So I let this person know and I told him Emtek was shipping the parts to me but Emtek also said the locksmith can't should be the one taking apart the lock and installing the thick door kit parts. They said they do not send out written instructions because the carpenter is not the person who suppose to change out these parts. Of course, this person NEVER told me this. I told him what Emtek said and he said, no problem, bring the lock set to him as soon as it comes in, which is today, and he will change out the parts "while I wait" in 5 minutes. So today I took h the lockset after the parts arrived with overnight shipping. When I arrived there was no acknowledge of what he had just told me yesterday regarding a 5 minute wait and he said it would take an hour but no more because the locksmith who was qualified to make the change was out on a job. So I osaid will you call me if it is ready before an hour and he said yes. I arrive almost 2 hours later, allowing room for anything else that could possibly go wrong, and the lockset is in pieces on the counter. I looks at me like he doesn't even know me and I have to ask him about the lock and he tells me a very smart ass way, it's not ready. He said the truck is not back and a tool he needs is on the truck. When I ask when will the truck be back he said around 4:15. So I asked him why didn't he call me to let me know it wasn't ready and he said "I told you I would call you when it was ready". No consideration at all or memory apparently of having told me to come back in an hour. So in the meantime, while my installer is still at my house waiting for the lockset, I tried to get some idea of exactly when will the truck be back so my installer can plan accordingly. After I press him with questions, because I had no confidence at this point that the truck would be back at 4:15, he said the truck may not come back at all today. Them I asked would the truck be at the shop 1st thong in the morning and could I plan to pick up the lockset since he had previously said it would only take 5 minutes to change. He would not give me a straight answer for anything and said "You can just take the lockset with you and I don't care if you ever come back". So I did and I want and I would recommend you not either. read more

ECL & Safe has been servicing our business park prior to us taking ownership. I had one tenant (out of 17) that has had a continued issue with his front door and this morning they couldn't even get out :( after being called by the tenant and him explaining that they have had an issue several times, I went to the property and inspected the last installation which was very shoddily done. One of the basic mistakes they did was using too short of a screw.... an easy fix by me but that I shouldn't have to do. I then called ECL & Safe to complain and Jason, I assume the manager, hung up on me! I then called back and asked for the name of the owner.... which he then refused to give me. I can't believe that a business can be conducted like this! Obviously rudeness is a commodity that is valued at East Cooper Lock and safe because after reading all these negative posts I will certainly move my business elsewhere! read more

I had an extremely rude encounter with the manager, Jamie, last week. I "inherited" East Cooper Lock & Safe for a property I purchased a few months ago. They had replaced the dead-bolt & knob prior to me taking ownership. The tenant called me very irate regarding their shoddy installation.... I of course called to inquire for them to come back out. However the tenant got locked in (the installation was done so bad and I guess after a few month of using the door it all fell apart).... I went by and very quickly adjusted the plate with longer screws!!!! however the door-lock should have been installed properly with a solid wood backing. After calling ECL&S and trying to explain the poor installation to Jamie he kept interrupting me and then proceeded to hang up!!!! Really???? GREAT customer service, NOT!!!!! I called back not believing that someone can be this rude..... I asked him for the owners name, figuring he/she would be shocked regarding his behaviour ....he said he would not give me the owners name. So if anyone out there knows the owner please feel free to forward this to him/her.... unbelievable!!!!! This property had 17!!!!! office units and would have been a good account. I will now take my business elsewhere! or at least as long as Jamie is there. There is no excuse for horrible customer service! read more
