She understood the urgency of my situation and did everything she could to get me scheduled same day, while still working around my schedule. Her compassion and responsiveness immediately made me feel like I called the right place. Upon arriving, I can see from the amount of other patients in the operatories that the doctor was busy yet I felt that her staff were thorough and attentive. While getting X-rays, I could hear laughter and genuine rapport between the doctor, her staff, and patients coming from down the hallway. It immediately created a warm, family-oriented atmosphere that put me more at ease. Dr. Sarshar has many gifts, but what stood out most was her sincere desire to understand my concerns--not just clinically, but financially and emotionally as well. I had a traumatic experience with and endodontist as a child and she quickly recognized the distress I was experiencing from needing and responded with genuine empathy and understanding. Rather than simply focusing on the procedure itself, she took the time to relate to my concerns, address my anxiety, and explain the measures she would take to keep me as comfortable as possible. She was not pushy or overly conservative. She clearly outlined my options and how she would minimize pain during the procedure and manage discomfort afterward, which gave me tremendous confidence and peace of mind. Once the procedure began, she clearly explained every step of the process: what she would be doing, why it was necessary, and how long it would take. Throughout the procedure, she continued to communicate what to expect, which further helped ease my anxiety. It was also obvious that she and her assistant, Maria, worked seamlessly together and were in complete sync. Afterward, Dr. Sarshar took the time to thoroughly explain her findings in terms that were easy to understand. She discussed both the best-case and worst-case scenarios and made sure I left with a clear understanding of my prognosis and next steps. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my experience. I was referred to East County Endodontics by Dr. Jamma DDS over at Singing Hills in Rancho San Diego. The location looks like an older apartment that were converted for commercial use, but I could be wrong. At any rate, having a root canal is no fun, but I am glad thus far that I had my first one ever here with Dr. Sashar. After filling out the necessary documents, I was asked to go in for x-rays, the consult, and then the root canal. I was pleased with the Dr. not only explained the process before hand, but also offered options. In the end, the root canal was completed on #15. I was given a good amount of pain killer before and even during the procedure when needed. Dr. Sashar did her best to make sure the procedure went well and painless. Don't get me wrong, it's an uncomfortable procedure, but was required, short of completely replacing the whole molar. Dr. Sashar, was very good at explaining what was happening as she performed the root canal. Everyone was very nice and supportive in the office. In addition to Dr. Sashar being super nice and patient, the receptionist and Dr. Sashar's assistants were all very friendly. Recently went in to see Dr. Sarshar ( per a referral from my dentist )Dr. Flamenco at Helix dental. Had to have a root canal done on a rear bottom tooth #18. From the time I checked in for my appointment to the time I left, it was only 1 hour and 15 minutes total. And that included filling out forms on a tablet, x-rays, exam and root canal. Dr. Sarshar is so nice, and great at what she does. I was feeling anxious about going but that was gone immediately. I felt so relaxed and it went smoothly. Not that I like having root canals done, but if needed in the future. I'll be going back to East County Endodontic. I was referred to Dr Sarshar by my regular dentist because I was having pain in a tooth that had a root canal 7 years ago. After an x-ray, she discovered the original root canal didn't go deep enough and the untreated area got infected. So she had to do a root canal "re-do". I was amazed at how skilled, precise and efficient Dr Sarshar is! I was done and paying my bill 1 hour and 15 minutes after arriving at her office. She and her entire office staff are very polite and friendly. And they play really cool, upbeat music in the office. I like that because it's a good distraction from the procedure itself. I was referred to Dr. Sarshar for tooth sensitivity under my crown. I booked an appt about 2 weeks out but the pain had got so severe over the next few days I couldn't eat or sleep. I walked into her office at 8am the day after Christmas praying that they would be able to fit me in, and by the grace of god they fit me in! I was in a lot of pain. My regular dentist suspected a tooth fracture below the gum line. I was referred to Dr. Sarshar. Within minutes she assessed my tooth and confirmed the fracture. She was able to do a root canal and save my tooth. I was in and out in about an hour. I'd never had a root canal before. Dr. Sarshar and her staff were very kind, answered all of my questions patiently and reassured me. The only pain I experienced was from the shots to numb my mouth. Dr. Sarshar checked in to make sure I was ok multiple times during the procedure. Once the numbness wore off my mouth was a little sore, but it was really minimal. Everyone in the office was great. So professional. I don't ever want to do that again, but if I have to I'll definitely go back to Dr. Sarshar. read more

I was notified the day before by reception of what my co pay would be and assured me about my pain free procedure! I gave this score not because of the Dentist and the assistant but the staff that is in the front desk answering calls. No professional ethics on handling complaints. I find this rude to the patients. Need more training to handle calls I was referred to this facility by my primary dentist - Dr. Brian Suzuki. The first time I came to this office was in 2017. Dr. Duc Nguyen and assistant were great. No problem. So when I needed another one I requested to go back to him. The procedure went fine, however Friday started experiencing pain and got worst on Saturday night. Followed his instructions to take Tylenol or Motrin however this did not help. Called the office per the instructions sheet and the number just kept ringing. No further instructions per the paper they gave us. Luckily that I have a daughter who is a pediatric dentist that prescribed me stronger pain meds and antibiotics to bring the swelling down. The worst case is when I called the office Monday morning and told them their answering service do not work for emergency cases - no response. Not even a work let me check or sorry - the fact that I told her that was in pain over the weekend. I even mentioned it to her before I hang up. No word at all. Ay least sorry for your experience and will check to make sure answering emergency services works next time. After all this the appointment I was given was Wednesday not even offered to go to the other office to see Dr. Nguyen knowing that he has other dental offices that he goes. I will definitely discuss this with the Dr Nguyen when I see him. Horrible experience. read more

PLEASE CHECK YOUR INSURANCE COPAYS. I have only written a few reviews in my life and try to only review when I am happy with the experience. However, buyer beware of this place. I was referred by my primary dentist and this place is a provider under my DHMO insurance. They quoted a procedure at $750. I checked with my insurance and they said the copay for the procedure and laughing gas (for my kiddo) in total should have cost $45 TOTAL. I spoke to them twice to make sure they were quoting this at $750 and told them I am supposed to only have a copay. The insurance agent even called the office to inform them that the procedures are supposed to be covered under their contract, and apparently the staff responded "well how much is the insurance company going to pay us for these procedures?" Insurance companies may be difficult to deal with, but then don't sign a contract with them if you aren't willing to follow the rules and instead scam your customers. They are passing along the cost to the consumer in a very unethical way. I have nothing to say about the actual dental work because we will not be returning. read more

I was referred to East County Endodontics by my primary dentist so they could take care of an infection that developed under a broken crown. I was very nervous because I knew the infection was deep. My dentist was Elenaz Sarshar and she was amazing. She explained everything she was going to do, she made sure I was very numb before she started and she was quick and efficient with her work. Afterwards she made sure to explain the care directions very carefully and sent me home with antibiotics and pain medication. I would absolutely go back and see Dr. Sarshar! read more

Pro tip, check out maps before you drive to make sure you're finding your exact location. This place isn't super easy to find. It's not the dentist with the blue sign out front and yes the address listed is correct. I walked in and was promptly given paper work and taken back. Doc came in and introduced himself and we began with a couple tests. Now. Mentally prepare for these tests especially if you're feeling extra sensitive. We did some tapping tests and then cold tests. 3 teeth we tested with cold and the last one we tested was my tooth that was ill. It hurt like hell. The root canal procedure was underway quickly and I was in no pain in no time. Doc worked quickly and almost had an equipment malfunction but he quickly assessed and moved forward. The procedure was quite quick and pain free. He numbed my entire left face. (lol) and it was over in ~ 25 mins. So glad i have excellent insurance and was quickly checked out and on my way. Staff upfront was professional. I didn't expect a best friend walking in the door. However. Minus one star for the super annoying radio playing way too loud in the waiting area. I don't care about listening to your favorite morning show. Awful! Anywho. If your dr refers you here. Go here. It's efficient. read more

Dr. Do is amazing! During my pregnancy, two of my crowns fell off. Unfortunately, since I didn't have crowns protecting my teeth, I developed a couple of cavities. One of the cavities was so bad, there was question whether they would be able to save the tooth. I really didn't want to have it pulled (and have to get an implant), so Dr. Do worked his magic and saved my tooth!! He's also super quick and efficient, which is great when you have to leave your 4-month-old at home with a babysitter. Dr. Do's staff is also great. They're friendly and helpful. First off I had 3 referrals for my dental work and selected East County Endodontics. My first mistake! I Googled the directions and also called the office to make sure directions were right. The gal I spoke to only said to take El Cajon Blvd off the 8 and they were between these certain streets and nothing else. Of course I got lost but another dental office I went into gave me the exact location. Once I arrived I was greeted with a smile and asked if I found them without a problem. When I said I got lost the attitude changed but I completed my paper work and waited to be called in. I was called back to the dental chair within 10 minutes, took x-rays and waited just a few minutes for Dr. Nguyen. Dr. Nguyen checked the x-ray and checked my tooth. He did the tapping test and cold test. He said if the cold dissipates immediately it is just sensitive but if it lingers I need a root canal. As I was asking questions he was walking out of the room but came back to tell me again what he just said then left the room. I was trying to figure out if there are further tests, if the cold sensitivity would subside with time or if there was anything else that could be done. In order words I wanted further clarification. I do realize he is the dentist but a few more minutes to address my concerns would have been professional and compassionate. I felt Dr. Nguyen could not be bothered and that I was an intrusion and that his time was more valuable than mine. And for this 5 minute consultation I was charged $65.00. I paid but was very unhappy and will be disputing this fee. Dr. Nguyen forwarded via email a Endo Consultation Report to my general dentist where he proceeded to tell my dentist that he felt I was looking for excuses not to have a root canal. Not acceptable and very unprofessional. Again, I just wanted to ask a few more questions. If a patient is a bother to you and you don't have the time to address concerns a step back my be in order. read more

I've had prior (good) experience with root canals, but that endodontist had retired. I was referred to Dr Do by my primary dentist and had some reservations upon arriving at his unassuming office. As is often the case, looks can be deceiving. Dr Do diagnosed one fractured tooth (which was treated by an oral surgeon) and concurred with my primary dentist on the need for a root canal of another tooth. After x-rays and diagnosis, he asked if I wanted to get the root canal done immediately. I was surprised, but had the time and he proceeded. The procedure was completed faster than I'd ever experienced before and as painless as possible. Highly recommended. read more

Definitely check this place out for any root canal needs... I had problem with my previous work done and was refer to this place. The two girls at the front desk were sweet. The doctor was so nice and understanding and explain to me that there wasn't much he could do to fix the problem because it wasn't worth me having to drop a lot of money to fix something that won't make it better. If that made sense. He would rather save me money than make money off of me. That show that he care about his patients, in my case, potential patient. Sadly, they were unable to obtain the imaging necessary, ASKED him if he wanted the root canal done that day - uh DUH!!!! we aren't her sightseeing!!!! - were going to go ahead with it, and then had the AUDACITY to say that if they could not capture the after imaging necessary for insurance, then we would be liable for the bill in full. The receptionist was rude and condescending and she was giving waaaaay different information than what the doctor was saying to my husband. She was laying blame on HIM to get the imaging right. It's not his fault that he has a severe gag reflex - which they should have known since that was a large part of the reason that he was referred here in the first place. So, we left. Now my husband is still in pain and we have to start over. I would give them ZERO stars if I could, it was THAT BAD!!! Like I said, stay far, FAAAAAAAAAR away!!!!
