Bought a house with a pool in 2021. I googled pool cleaning services near me (Lakeside) and East Mountain was the first one to pop up. I truly thought I could manage the pool myself and I saw how quick a pool can change. (Cleaning, chemicals, filters, motor, etc) So I went in and met Shane and scheduled our monthly cleaning service. Fast forward a year and I cancelled the service because I thought "hmm...maybe it's not as difficult as I thought" I was WRONG. So now here we are in October Of 2023....I called last month and talked to Heather who was truly a joy to talk to. I explained that I thought I could manage on my own but clearly there's a science and method, on top of hard work that goes into pool maintenance. Heather was on it and had someone out the following Monday and within a week and a half..my pool was already looking better. I truly appreciate their knowledge and hard work and I assure you if you're thinking about going with any other company, you will regret it. I used this pool service for about 2 years. In June I left town on a trip and they quit coming. By the 4th of July my pool was an algae pond. My gardener alerted me and I called Shane the owner of E. Mountain Pools. Instead of just taking the information and sending someone out--and no I didn't ask that someone come on the 4th of July--he started yelling at me. He screamed "SHUT UP" and then he said I was fired as a customer and he wasn't going to address the problem at all. I was totally shocked. I pay right on time, all the time. I get along great with Miranda my service lady. I had never even spoken to Shane before and he was the most aggressive and abusive man I have encountered in years! Let me start off by saying I don't give one star reviews often, and I don't take it lightly when leaving one because I run a business too. I try not to take things personally when dealing with CSR's or even managers over the phone because we are all just people, however sometimes there are people in positions of authority who are just incapable of being professional and like to rip their clients off. I paid for service at my home, I paid extra, based on my contract to have additional work done. I work very hard to have a nice home and I do pay for these services so I can maintain my home. The issue began several months back when the service technician kept leaving the cover off of my pool when coming out and I had to call in to ask that it be put back because it wasn't being done. I was given push back but the correction was made. When I realized that the work I had been paying extra for hadn't been completed in recent MONTHS I called in and asked that it be taken care of. I was put on the phone with a service manager, I believe his name is Shawn, but I don't recall. Somewhere in our conversation Shawn decided that he was terminating our contract because I used language that he took offense to. I didn't say it about him, I just spoke how I speak, I said it about the appearance of something and he proceeded to scream at me and become completely emotional and unprofessional. At no time in our conversation was I disrespectful or rude, but he made this about himself rather than admitting that an error was made and it could be corrected and life would go on. I accepted that we would no longer be working together, quite frankly the calibur of the performance of work to date was mediocre at best, but I believe supporting local businesses is the right way to go. I realized a short while later that I had paid a significant amount of money to this company to do work that was not being done so I called and asked for a refund on that portion, because in the previous conversation even the service manage himself had admitted that it hadn't been done. At that point, he tried to back peddle and say that the timeline was wrong and he wouldn't be refunding my money. Truthfully, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I can tell you that if you work with this company you should be checking to ensure they are doing all that they are contracted for and not stealing and gaslighting clients who have the wherewithal to question it. This company lacks integrity and as I've said before, I do not leave 1 star reviews lightheartedly so I will stand on this review. read more

Great service from East Mountain Pool and Spa. Miranda was awesome for our first year, so great with the dogs and very reliable, rain or shine. Special Kudos to Michael who recently took the route. Recognized some areas needing treatment, walked me thru the process, which meant no swimming for a couple days, but the pool is sparkling again! He even called the next day to check and see if his treatment worked. Really excellent customer service. EM also reminds me when the filter is due for cleaning. Sergio is awful, been using East Mountain for over a year and nothing but problems. Sergio has zero problem throwing pool waste over the fence instead of using the trash can (literally two feet away) and loves to kick my chickens on the way to the pool area. My personal favorite is when he "claims to come for service" but never shows up or "no service due to rain (it's clear skies and dry)".... (Thank you Ring camera). I have contacted management and ownership many times but some how he still has a job and he is still our "technician". read more

I have worked with East Mountain since they installed a new Pentair Superflo VS pump in 2017. I didn't always have a smooth relationship because I was often talked to like I wasn't all there. However this last event means I will NEVER use their services again. My Pentair pool pump stopped working so I called for service. Before the pump was even examined it was suggested I install a new pump system for $1,100. Over two different service calls Shane checked the pump, said a new part was needed, got the part, supposedly installed it, said it didn't work and that meant the motor was bad. He dressed me down when I said this new system sounded like a scam. I agreed to install the new system but when the installer called me less than two hours after Shane left warning bells went off. For a company that needs three to five days to get someone out, having an installer ready so fast did not sound right so I canceled. Long story short, I called Anthony of East COUNTY Pool. He noted the pump system had not been put back together. He reassembled it and determined the impeller had something stuck in it. The system is merrily cleaning up the mess in the pool and it cost $100. With East Mountain, if something sounds hinky it probably is. read more

Shane helps us make solid and economical decisions on pool cleaners, repairs, cleaning the filters and all of our other pool needs and this is the only pool company that has gone out of the way to make sure our pool is safe, clean and swim ready. Nick G, our pool maintenance provider is friendly, helpful and motivated to get the pool sparkling clean. Each time I ask Nick whether East County Pool and Spa can repair something for the pool, or whether they have a pool product we need, his answer is always yes and the price he quotes is reasonable and doable. Like Shane, Nick G., has a positive attitude, is always in a good mood and you can tell he takes pride in his work. We have used so many different pool companies over the years and not one of them are like Shane and his team. We have cameras in our back yard and have seen pool technicians hop our fence, (the fence is not locked), some took a quick look at the basket and leave, some were seen chatting on their mobile phones and resting in our backyard, many of the pool cleaners did not show up, or showed up on the wrong day and didn't contact us to reschedule. I came in after buying our first above ground pool. I was so intimidated by the thought of maintaining it and dealing with chemicals. Told the guys what we had and they sold me all the things I needed for the rest of the summer and wrote down super easy instructions for care. Told me I couldn't mess it up. It is an accurate depiction of the maintenance services provided by this company. The tech apparently gave her 3-minute service calls, however because we're an HOA with a larger pool and spa- we received full 5-minute visits/ sarc ! East Mountain provides horrible service. The City closed our pool on two occasions thanks to them. The tech would show up, skim the pool, maaaybe empty a basket or two but mostly not. We've seen baskets completely clogged, chemicals so out of balance- we had to drain the pool, constantly dirty tile and debris in the water and a spa so overgrown with mustard algae that the yellowish-green color scared people away. We actually paid them to destroy our property! read more

Wow! So, apparently I'm NOT a great pool guy... I've been "taking care" of my pool since I bought my house a few years ago, but I got too busy this summer to do it myself, so I hired East Mountain Pool and Spa to carry the load and my pool has NEVER looked so good!!! Marissa has been doing a fantastic job. She is always polite, always gives me a heads up when she is coming by, and leaves a note when ever I am away to let me know she took care of it. She always goes the extra mile and has truly made our pool beautiful. Marissa is thorough and a top notch pool tech! Before hiring them to service my pool, I used to buy my chemicals from their store, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. I often brought in a sample of my sad pool water for them to test (since I really only know the bare minimum to get by) and they always gave me great feedback on what I needed to add to improve the quality of my pool water. They have also serviced my equipment and have been great about helping me keep my old pump and filter in good working condition instead of trying to sell me on something I didn't need. We built a new pool in 2022, and East Mountain Pool & Spa was highly recommended by many of our friends for regular maintenance. Their customer service is top-notch, and we can always count on our pool running and feeling great. During an uncommonly huge rainstorm this year, our pool ended up filled with mud after our storm runoff got blocked by debris. I asked East Mountain what we'd need to do, and the owner, Shane, was at our home to visually inspect the damage and come up with a game plan within an hour. Our regular tech, Sergio, is always friendly and lets us know of any upcoming maintenance recommendations or issues to keep an eye out for. We've also run into a handful of equipment issues, for which our builder was non-responsive and unhelpful. The East Mountain team helped put us into contact with the correct warranty folks to help get our issues sorted, and are plainly always looking out for us. We appreciate their team and efforts very much, and would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of maintenance or repairs. read more

I tried to amend the review that I left back in 2020 when we were getting great service from them, but i do not have the option. I thought that I posted this when this issue originally occurred. We had this company servicing our pool for many years. Almost a year ago, our "tech" told me that he was getting married, and would not be out to service our pool for 2 weeks. I noticed algae forming in our pool, so I went to the office to let Shane know, and to send my best to the tech on his marriage. I was told by Shane that our tech was not getting married, and that they have GPS that showed that they came out. I told him that we have cameras in our driveway, and that no one has been there to service our pool in almost 2 weeks, and was still billed for the full month. I was confronted rudely by Shane, and asked if I was calling him a liar, and that our cameras were not working properly. I was then told that if I was unhappy with them, that I should find a new pool service. After years of having them taking care of our pool with no previous issues, and thought that I had a great relationship with, I could not believe that I was being called a liar by the owner, and that he was defending their tech that blatently lied to my face that they were getting married, and that is why we would not have service for 2 weeks. Thankfully, I found a new service that had the algae removed and cleaned quickly. read more
