    Garlic chicken
    Barrie H.

Did you ever eat somewhere and then you wish you could go back in time to change your mind? Well, that's what I wish could happen after trying East Side Bar & Grill. Food: we got fries ($9), fried pork belly ($23), and garlic chicken ($22). Coca Cola ($4) and a plantation iced tea ($5). Soda refill was $2. Tbh, I don't even know how to describe the disappointment of this food. Fries were okay. Coke was flat. Plantation iced tea didn't taste good. Added lemon and sweetener and vast improvement. Fried pork belly was hard and bland. Garlic chicken just didn't have taste. Even the potato crab salad was a disappointment. Tack on a service charge to our bill and ... needless to say, we will not be coming back. Skip this place. Unless you're just having a beer and watching the game, go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Always seen this place when we drive by but because of Augie T's comedy show we decided to go. The place was very clean inside, bright lights, easy to move around, super friendly and accommodating staff. We got three food items and the Kalua Pig nachos was Ono, garlic chicken was tender and packed with flavor and so was the garlic fries. The forst drink ordered was a 7/7 but it was a little weak so the other drinks was selected from their previous made menu. As a word of caution please always view your itemized credit card hill before signing. For some reason we had the tab from the table next to us. Ehhh no big deal as we mentioned to the waitress and all was immediately fixed.

Conveniently located in a shopping center with lots of parking. Walked in and must've looked like a bunch of tourists. No one greeted us for a while until we asked. Almost all tables up front were reserved for groups except the one we ended up sitting at. We realized that they had families coming in to watch the band that was playing later on. Others walked in and were turned away. We ordered drinks and pupus because our server said entrees weren't being served. Not a problem, we got a pupu platter that came with pulehu short ribs, garlic chicken and crispy pork belly. We also got the steak with rice and crab salad on the side. Our whole pupu platter was over cooked and it looked like we got the leftover pieces from the "regulars" that had a pupu platter that was stacked high. The short ribs and the steak were over seasoned. We managed to finish the steak but at least half of the pupu platter remained. Server asked if we needed a box which we declined. She didn't ask what was wrong with it or anything. I mean $59 and only half eaten? Anyway, not sure we'd return as there are many places to try on the island. Our server was pleasant though and our food came quick.

Mahi Mahi w Crab macaroni salad and fried rice upgrade

Great place for live music and drinks or even entertainment, when i went tonight they had live trivia games with prizes and karaoke night. The vibe felt good and it became quite packed by 8 pm. I ordered a mahi-mahi entree and my friend ordered the pork belly plate. We both got the crab macaroni salad and upgraded to fried rice. We both thought the food was decent, i didn't have high expectations after reading reviews here so the food exceeded my expectations. The mahi-mahi tasted fresh, way too much garlic but it was good, the fried rice was a typical home made fried rice and my friend really liked the crab macaroni salad. The food was decent but nothing special and just average but was decent. We both got a mixed drink which we both liked. I agree with other reviews that you'd go more for the atmosphere, live music, drinks and company, The service was friendly and the service was good until it got crowded, i'm glad i got in before the crowd and we got our food much quicker than when folks came after it got crowded. They have a separate bar area that seemed packed. Tv screens on the walls to watch sports. I think this place is a nice addition to Kaneohe to hang out and drink w average food. There isn't too many places in Kaneohe to hang out to drink so I'll be back for the atmosphere

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner after he got off work because we came hungry. To drink we had diet Coke. We decided to get the poke nachos because I was craving them. These were pretty good. We also got the lechon and this was delicious because it was fresh and tasted so tender. It wasn't hard or tough. Both delicious however the service was a little slow but they were busy on a Friday night. There was live music by a guy so singing and playing guitar. So freaking amazing. Definitely worth coming here. However parking was difficult to find because it does get busy. I highly recommend this restaurant to eat. I definitely will be back with my boyfriend.

Here on a Saturday. Not busy so seating was quick. Friendly service. Same set up as previous Brick Oven Pizza business. Nice that they kept TV to show OC16 sports and other sports games. No Paid Per-View showings as of yet. Full Bar (in back) service and seating available for Bar and in dining area. Food tip- best deal on the menu is the $14 saimin and hamburger combo. Saimin is simple with cut spam and kamaboko. Its a single serving size. Old school style for those who grew up here. Nothing fancy. Add your own shoyu and pepper to taste. Hamburger with cheese- ask for it Well Done. Mine was medium rare. I would have returned it as I got to the middle but I was hungry! This is the type of burger you want almost cooked through to well done. Not pink all the way through. It's a good size cheese burger for the price.

The tasting board of their different blends was great too! Taco night was some darn good home cooking ! Carlitos is a family run business and you can tell they really care about the food. Beautiful decor of imitation plants that even the bathrooms were beautiful especially the women's bathroom by the kitchen. Even the Men's bathrooms were decorated. It's something you should see! You wouldn't even think there's a place like this in Kailua. There were a few steps to the door of the restaurant but as we exit the waitress let my mom through the back which had no stairs but a ramp leading to the side parking along the restaurant right side, since she was using a walker. I first came with my friend for dinner and I came with my mom for brunch after her dentist appointment, because I wanted to show her what became of the beloved Four Star Chop Suey decades ago. Brunch menu was not the usual breakfast items that we were used to, but I ordered what I thought she would like best. We had Breakfast Hash with potatoes, sausage, cheese, eggs, bell peppers but the sauce was a little spicy for mom. There were ingredients in the sauce which maybe was too much for mom. Citrus mint fruit salad, and Southern Chicken Biscuit and Gravy. The gravy was different.fitness good but, I preferred the dinner selection when I came with a friend who traveled all the way from Kapolei for some shared dishes and appetizers. She really liked it and it was flavorful and unique. We had the following dishes: Local Braised Oxtail Patatas Bravas Seared Poke nachos Seasonal Hummus Deconstructed Baklava Cheesecake Hiusemade breads Citrus mint fruit salad I would order everything again! The Oxtail was flavorful and delicious, The homemade breads were so warm and fresh. The breads were served with the seasonal hummus, and I love the citrus mint dressing on the fruits! So refreshing! Night time was busy and we didn't have reservations, so we were lucky we didn't have those high top table and chairs . Best to have reservations for dinner. Weekends have night entertainment in the bigger dining area. We came earlier, but as the night went on, it got busier and our waitress was also assisting other customers in the other room, so we were missed . Service could have been better. Not too many of my townie friends had made it to this side but it's a nice place to dine at to experience their food and beautiful ambiance! There were a few side parking stalls along the right wall of the restaurant, otherwise you would need to find street parking. There's a nearby 24 hour municipal parking lot and it's still a quarter of 20 minutes. This restaurant is not in the main Kailua town area. Absolutely blown away…read more This place was recommended to my partner and I by multiple people so we put in the reservation. Upon arrival, we were asked for a password (which he could not find in his emails hot fortunately they gave us grace lol) then let in. The place was simply lit and each table had a literal gas lamp lighting the space. On the second floor there was a man playing the sax. It was SO gorgeous, Our waitress was great, we were easily influenced by all her suggestions and ended up getting a great meal. We started with drinks. My partner didn't hear her say that the bottom of the menu was "spirit forward" and ordered a VERY strong drink. It actually made for a very giggly and eventful dinner so it was a very happy mistake lol. I got the espresso martini. It was a little creamier than I expected but still tasted really good! I'd order again. Our first appetizer was the Wagyu carpaccio- topped with cilantro (the menu said dill but I saw/ tasted none), fried capers, and caviar. It was surprisingly light and refreshing, basically a meat salad. A beautiful start to our meal. Our second (yes, second) appetizer was the escargot and bone marrow. This was our personal star of the show. A complete 180 to the carpaccio. This was rich, heavy, and decadent. The tomato added a nice balance of acidity to counteract the fatty bone marrow. The escargot was cooked perfectly, no chew but soft and buttery. One of the best bites of my life. The salad it came with was just we needed with it. After this, there was quite a wait until our main entree. A fire dancer came, and danced on the bar counter. I'd say we waited a good 20 minutes until it came out. But we were only impatient because we had plans after dinner. Our main course, which we shared, was the King Arthur- beef Wellington with a side of crab legs. The crab did come out during our appetizers which I appreciated. I only ordered this because I never had beef Wellington before and really wanted to try it LOL, my partner said it was better than the one at hella kitchen! The waitress also talked us into ordering a side of Mac and cheese, and thank GOD she did. It came out piping hot and saucy. There was a slight note of truffle, but it wasn't overpowering, and a nice crust of cheese and breadcrumbs on top. Everything was delicious and generously portioned. You definitely get a bang for your buck. It's a hefty buck but it's so worth it.

It could have been a 5 stars experience if one of our servers didn't seem to rush things to clear up the tables. Got asked a couple of times if dish was done tho the person who ordered that was in the restroom.. and was asked to pass the utensils to her in not a very nice tone.. Was all confused because signs said "the Garden to your left, Boardroom to the right", so we kind of passed the entrance, going around the corner, and noticed that there wasn't another entrance on the other side, and that's when we figured the short wooden sliding gate was the entrance lol as you walk in, it's an outdoor establishment, lots of seats everywhere. With this yelp elite experience, we got to have a pizza and a dole whip. They have a menu posted up, and you order at the truck. They don't start serving pizza till 11, so we left cuz we was too early, and wanted to take advantage of our yelp perk, so went to go run errands and came back around 2PM ish. We got a pepperoni pizza, vanilla dole whip, and I ordered a maitai. Pizza was good. Dole whip was good, and Maitai was good. Everything was good! I loved that we got to make our way here to take advantage of my yelp elite perk because if wasn't for this yelp event, on any other normal day, we would just pass this place, not even knowing what this place has to offer! One thing about this place is that it's hotttt, if u go in the day. And for me, alcohol and hotness does not go together lol Since they open till 9, I would think it's probably cooler when sun is down. Love pet friendly places. We got to bring our jellybean with us. Cool spot to chill, have a few. Shout out to Eric for taking care of us. Awesome customer service. Only had him working all morning. Go check this place out. Don't forget to tip :)

The ordering counter and cashier is right as you enter along with thr pastry counter. Same deals with thr kapolei location you order and find your own table and put number so they can find you when your order is up. Inside is airconditioned with around maybe 10 tables and chairs some seat 2 others eat 4 and they also have outside patio seating back and front. The parking can be challenging having maybe 10 -12 spots in their lot and some street parking . Their Menu is a bit more limited than their other location. Sandwiches.. pizza and other stuff oh and coffee. The only thing that wasmt as good as their kapolei location was they didnt have the thin crispy salty cravable fries they only had small bags of chips available The food is always good and the service was real good. The staff gave you an impression where they really valued their customers with greetings with a smile and happy goodbyes. As always a great experience with a great casual setting..fair pricing (nothing is considered "cheap" nowdays) ..good food and friendly staff.
