There is very limited parking, which isn't an issue by itself. I dropped my other half off to put our names on the waitlist while I went to find street parking. She's not local, and unfortunately the hostess was extremely rude to her, saying she couldn't add our name to the waitlist because I wasn't physically there. I've never been to a restaurant that won't let someone join the waitlist unless the entire party has arrived. I completely understand waiting until everyone is present before being seated, but refusing to even add a name to the waitlist while someone is looking for parking seems unreasonable. We never made it past the hostess, so I can't comment on the food or service beyond that. First impressions matter, and based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. This was our second time visiting the island, and we decided to bring our whole family here for breakfast. We were a group of 15, and we did get seated right away, which we appreciated. The food is great -- our favorites are the loco moco and the pancakes, both consistently delicious. The biggest disappointment was the service. The staff just didn't feel friendly or welcoming. Any time we asked a question or needed something simple like an extra plate or napkins, they looked visibly bothered. For a family meal, that really takes away from the experience. Another frustration: they wouldn't split checks. Even though we were part of a large group, we were only a family of four with three separate orders. Splitting that shouldn't be complicated, but they refused, and it made checkout unnecessarily annoying. On top of that, they automatically add a 20% gratuity. We had taken our car to Windward Hyundai to get serviced. This place was right down the street, so we just walked there. This was on a Saturday and we got there around 8:40 in the morning. There was already a short wait. We were quoted about 10 minutes. Sure enough we were seated 10 minutes later. The hubby ordered the Early Bird Special (6:30am-9:00am) $10.95 and a coffee $4.45. The Early Bird Special came with three buttermilk pancakes and two eggs. I got the Ube Short Stack $17.95. This came with three ube pancakes with ube butter. The ube pancakes were ok. It was a lot. I could only finish half and left the rest. The gave a big scoop of ube butter, which was really rich. I could taste a hint of ube flavor in the pancakes and in the butter. Other than that it just tasted like regular pancakes. The service was good. The servers were nice and refilled the coffee. It was so good to see that Kaneohe Pancake House has kept the Vinha d'alhos on the menu! It was my go to protein of choice at the former Koa House. The interior still retains the charm of the Koa paneling, but the dining tables and upholstery have been redone to a more bright and clean aesthetic. The service is excellent and friendly. The parking here is still a challenge as there are only a handful of parking stalls. My pro tip would be to go off hours. Either a late breakfast after 9 AM or early launch. it's a wonderful place to have a meal, proportions are very generous, so come hungry. read more

If the owner or manager is reading this I would really appreciate that you rethink the penny-wise but pound-foolish substitute and use of unhealthy spreads in lieu of butter that I first experienced this early morning Mother's Day 2026 on the toast and hotcakes. Disgusting and tasteless! Also, my wife and I tried the "Meats Lovers" omlette. The ONLY meat was ham. What happened to the other 3 Meats noted in the menu? We gave the waitress and support staff a generous tip because they had to work on Mother's Day and they undoubtedly had nothing to do with the decision to degrade the quality of the food ingredients. The ube butter was soft and perfectly salted, but I will say, the pancakes would've been better if it came with an ube sauce or cream instead of the butter, but it was still delicious. The only bad thing about the ube pancakes is you have to get the short stack. I was told that this is the only pancake that doesn't come as a side or single serve pancake because the ube butter is already pre-portioned. I love coming here! My parents wanted to have a simple lunch and I said we should come back here. It's very down to earth and a hidden gem. Although, some tourists do find it. The 18 percent hospitality added to checks was not the problem, but rather the approach to the question of split check request. This situation left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. We even asked if we were being ostracized or segregated because that's honestly how the situation felt. Instead, the interaction lacked professionalism and hospitality. Caught sight of this place after eating at Pan's Kitchen months ago and finally got a chance to try it out. Once entering, my husband and I were immediately greeted and seated with a clean booth and menus already set in place. Auntie then came to get our drink orders and gave us some extra time to pick out what we wanted to eat. I was torn between the KTown Loco Moco and the Vinha D'Alhos, but ultimately chose the loco moco with fried rice to be on the safe side. My husband wanted the NY steak & Eggs but chose the crab cake benedict with fried rice instead of country potatoes. That first bite of my husband's benedict was nostalgic! Soooo this is between a four and a five star so we'll go five star just because it's my brother's go-to breakfast place. The food is good. The service is excellent. The parking sucks but everyone else has covered that fairly well. There aren't as many seats inside as I remember Koa having but it's been a long time so I may be remembering incorrectly. I've been coming here for about 5 years because the space is cute and the ambiance is great. Unfortunately, the food has been consistently disappointing. The only thing I've truly enjoyed is the eggs benedict -- that dish is excellent. Pretty much everything else I've tried has been a miss. The pancakes came out salty, chewy, and undercooked in the middle. When I sent them back, the replacement was burnt on the edges but still raw inside. The crepes are also nothing like crepes -- they're thick and doughy, more like a roll of bread than something light and delicate. It's frustrating because I really want to love this place, and I've given it several tries over the years, but aside from the eggs benedict, the food is not worth the price.
