We got our name on the list (they don't take reservations) around 7:11 and our table was ready about 40 minutes later. But the wait time is nice because you can take photos in the garden and by the water. They offer front space area for people on the wait list to drink and get apps if they choose which I thought was cool. My friend and I only shared some appetizers and a desert, but everything was phenomenal. They had some cool chefs specials too! My family loves this place, has for a LONG time. Came for Father's Day, we put our name down and they gave an eta of 1hr 45min. Left and came back around 30-40 min later. Checked and they said another 1hr 45min. Then added another 30 min, then another. Total time waited was about 2 hrs 30min. Understandable that it's so busy especially on holidays, but to not have a decently accurate ETA wasn't looking too good. Finally got sat, and the wine cups and silverware were dirty... Food did time some time to come, but again, it's a holiday so to be expected. Server was kind and accommodating, really nice woman. Prime rib was HUGE, but the bone was also a decent chunk of it, not too bad though. New York steak was very dry. Ordered one medium and one half of the steak was medium well-well done, the other side was cooked to med-rare but somehow the whole steak was VERY dry. Would not recommend. So to our surprise showing up around 3pm there is a line of tourists already waiting to get in at 4pm. So everyone just stands there until they open as the line gets longer and more people show up. They open and you go to the host stand. The main host asks 4 times if your party is complete, because if it isn't you wont get seated, which I get but we said we were complete, yes we are complete, yes we are ready. Guess what, it'll be 10 min. Haha! No joke. The service - was great! Very friendly, personable and reliable. Took our orders efficiently and with charm. If I am nit picky they could have cleared our plates quicker but they are very busy and the place fills up in the first hour. The food - wow it is literally tourist trap vibes. Almost like Duke's meets Chuck's Steakhouse, meets Cheeseburger in Paradise. It's overcooked, low quality and doesn't really taste like anything special. The best thing I tried was the calamari which was very crispy and light. But the ceviche, poke, crab dip, spinach salad and shrimp were all very stereotypical fake "hawaiian inspired" dishes that were also rather small portion size compared to the pricing. The mains = were mainly overcooked and while they were a decent size just didn't taste good. Plus how can something be overcooked when you just opened. How did it have time to get overcooked when the kitchen literally opened within the hour. The shortrib was so dry like the desert, the lamb shank was again braised then oven roasted so it was very dry then slathered with a gelatinous teriyaki glaze, the fish was okay and the surf & turf was meh. Looking around the place was bumping and wall to wall with guests. We couldn't believe how busy they were and how incredibly popular it was, just for mediocre overpriced food. The service was standout, I feel bad that I do not remember her name as she went above and beyond in her service. We went for dinner after Kualoa Ranch, on our way back to Honolulu. They do have a large parking lot. They don't do reservations. But this is less of a problem here then other places. We were not lucky with the weather, if it was good, the ground are beautiful gardens. They do have one of the best waiting areas I've ever seen, as well as a bar area, to wait in, so you are not hovering over others as they eat. You can also order drinks and apps in the area. Their mango margarita was standout, "it tastes just like a mango!" The restaurant appears to be arranged so that most tables have some of a view of their open patio. Even with the rain, it was lovely, and they lit touches as it grew dark. The menu is the right size, I think a more focused menu lends to better food. We had difficulty deciding as everything sounded great. We started with their poke, very good, and nicely presented. I had the grilled fish, which was great, and my friends had two very different steaks. One got the prime rib, and it was on theme for our dinosaur tour at the ranch. I had a wonderful experience here! I came here with my work colleagues for dinner. This was my first time here and the scenery was breathe taking. Since it is graduation time and this place is always hopping, we had a little bit if a wait giving us the opportunity to explore the grounds. When our table was ready, the staff was friendly and boy what a view we had! I have some unique food allergies and our server, Collin went over and beyond to ensure that I was able to eat with my party and keeping my safety as the top priority. Worth the wait to try it at least once for the views. Be warned there are lots of mosquitos so get some bug spray on before you venture out. No reservations allowed so walk in only. Large nice garden to meader around in while you wait, expect a minimum 30-60 min wait if you're not in the first wave of seating. Service is good. Complimentary hot bread and guava butter after you order. Food wise I sampled a few entrees- the grilled mahi mahi over garlic potatoes, the sticky ribs, and the coconut shrimp. Entrees are all in the $37-45 range with things like prime rib up into the $75 range. The mahi/garlic potatoes were the best, perfectly cooked tender fish and delicious creamy potatoes. The sticky ribs were ok- a little dry IMO, the coconut shrimp seemed the most overpriced for what was given, perhaps 8-9 battered shrimp and some rice for nearly $40. Also tried the wedge salad for $17 which was kind of a disappointment for how small and underdressed it was. Overall, it's nice for a fun outing or special occasion. I shared it with my dinner companion and we have enough for at least two more meals. It was very tender; in fact, for part of it, my friend cut it with her fork! We were sharing, but the area from which I took my piece wasn't quite as tender... I had to use my knife. There was a large hunk of fat attached to our prime rib, but I just cut the lean part away from it. It was served with green beans and mashed potatoes. I wish there were more green beans and the potatoes were creamier, but both were still good. I think they used red potatoes and included some of the skin; it was on the drier, chunkier side and I prefer my mashed potatoes smooth and creamy. The meat was definitely the main focus on that plate! The waitress was really sweet and friendly. She packed up the left over prime rib along with two small containers of au jus and a container of horseradish. It'll be great for our meal at home. We got there at 3:50 and the line was already about 20 to 25 deep, but we were able to get seated because we didn't require any special seats. Keep in mind they open at 4:00 pm on Sundays and they do not accept reservations. We got there around 3:30 and we were the 3rd party in line. We wanted to make sure we get some of their famous prime rib. It's a bit pricey BUT the cut is HUGE. It's at least a 2" cut and amazingly delicious. Our waters ran empty most of the time. We were served prime rib with no steak knives. Check and boxes took forever. The prime rib used to be a great deal- under $40 a few years ago and now it's $75 a plate. The mashed potatoes were gummy like they were reheated too many times. String beans were salty and dry. Prime rib was still good as I remember. The soup is an add on for about $6 extra and it was watery and the clams were gritty. The salad add in is just as sad and costs extra. Okay, I'll admit it I found this place on TikTok while planning my birthday and knew I wanted a spot with a view and a solid steak. Just man up and try the snails. Now the star of the show: the PRIME RIB. This thing had to be at least 2kg. Juicy, tender, and seasoned to perfection. We were slightly panicking at the portion size, but enjoyed every bite we could manage. Honestly, one of the better prime ribs I've had - worth the hype. Ambiance & service: It's more laid-back than fancy, but that's the Hawaiian vibe. Service was efficient but not super warm definitely more transactional than personal. We got to the restaurant about 15 minutes before opening and waited about 45 minutes. The view is stunning with lush gardens and a beautiful pond. Definitely the highlight of the visit. We ordered the crab dip, Brussels sprouts, and calamari. All were just okay. I had the roasted chicken, which was juicy. I also really liked the sauce it was paired with. Your hostesses... My family arrived just after 4pm and drove around waiting for a parking spot. Ignoring previously reading that we should have arrived by 3:30pm, my family was given an hour to an hour and half wait. But after sitting for 1.45hrs with flies swarming my family, I chose to walk in and check on the issue. Hold onto issue, I will explain shortly. Now, this heavily popular joint "Does Not" take reservations; however, with the amount of people that I saw leaving this restaurant and the amount of people who walked straight in without reservations was My Issue (1)! These hostesses must be making bank by bumping my starving family and others; issue (2)!We should have left after witnessing other parties leave who had been waiting longer than us; issue (3)! I understand families waiting in the car, shopping while they wait, etc.. but that many families; issue (4)! The hostess I met expressed her apologies, she said that her system showed them that our wait had run its course, but when pressed she revealed that there were still 7 parties in-front of us. 7... and for a busy restaurant 7 could be another 45min to an hour, (5)! How off was this predicted wait time.. The front of the house needs to come up with an entirely new estimated system because this system is broken and where I come from 3 strikes is too many strikes, you're out! Beautiful location. Get there well before it opens to hold your spot. Wish I could say I blown away about the food but my macadamia seafood was basic. The drink was basic. Hubs liked his poke but also said it wasn't the best (why does foodland do a better job than nice restaurants?!) I know it seems most people go for the prime rib and no one at our table got that. Service was fine. Nothing outstanding. I feel like we came for the location and that's disappointing when they could really wow people. read more
