well, Happy Father's Day to you! my dad wanted to sit on the patio & have a nice meal. it was truly one of the best holidays we've ever had here. been here many times w good experiences but this one unequivocally the best. they did have a specialty menu but we started out with the skinny blueberry drinks which are served in mason jars and taste amazing, although they have stopped putting in a few blueberries as a garnish. last 3x ive asked. no blueberries. BUT! what fantastic meal & tbe weather put on a heavenly show. the rain falling from passing clouds to quench the grass & LITERALLY put on a show. we followed heavy clouds actually show rain falling from the clouds & moving onto the cliffs of Meriden. just beautiful. our server: over the top-great energy, well informed but ready to play & banter. my dad enjoyed her comebacks more than anything. and Melissa was a great, great server. she really makes you feel at home & like you came to the right place. she didnt shrink from a special request & it turned out to be a winner. simple change, but awesome results. i asked if the the coco shrimp mango salad could be put into a wrap. the chef accomodated, which i find as a regular is a very appreciated effort. that wrap was out of this world. and my dad tried things he's never had. the rice bowl w grilled shrimp ( or chicken or steak) - i'll tell you he forgot to take home, so next day i had as a late breakfast/early lunch. East St Eatery offers a ladies night 3 course meal including a cocktail or glass of wine every Wednesday for only 25$. It's a perfect opportunity to grab the girls and relax with delicious dishes and cocktails. My absolute favorite thing on the regular menu is the spedini. It is a block of fried mozzarella topped with both marinara and Alfredo sauce and I used to come here just for that! The owner was very friendly and the food was great! There is an outdoor area or indoor option with bar and plenty of seating for parties or events. Really cute restaurant right on the golf course! Haven't been there in a while but I remember it was a great atmosphere. I was thrilled when I saw there on Grubhub now! Especially a snowy day like today. I saved every single one of my cheat day calories to indulge on the mozzarella Spedini - because I remember exactly how delicious it was and they did not disappoint! It is the way that traditional mozzarella and Carroza should be made with bread in the middle and gooey cheese, it's the perfect ratio of cheese to breading and I love that it comes with Alfredo and marinara. (I requested the sauce on the side so I could reheat it as it was take out). They also have really great salads, well seasoned burgers and well cooked and seasoned grilled chicken. I'm not sure if they still do dinners (it was lunch menu) but I remember I've previously had the chicken Milanese and it was phenomenal. We had a wonderful experience over the weekend. Our event was held in the back room and on the patio, which has a beautiful view. The staff worked really hard to accommodate our every need. They were unexpectedly understaffed on this date so they had to work extra hard. The food was delicious and looked beautiful as well. When we were done, they packed up everything in to-go containers which made it easy for our guests to help themselves as well. We will definitely plan future events there! read more

Servers were awesome, it's hard to find good help but these ladies killed it, I wanted to poach them to come work where I am lol food was on point. We recently held a rehearsal dinner the night before a family wedding at East Street Eatery. From reserving the space a year out to planning the menu, coordinating colors, floral arrangements and all other specifics, point person Gina was amazing. The night of the event went off without a hitch! Staff was amazing! The food was very good, we chose family style and they accommodated all our requests! Only little glitch was when the appetizers were so popular the kitchen had difficulty keeping up with the initial demand but they quickly remedied. After a fun 9 holes of golf with friends we are here for lunch. We were on a time crunch and food was served fast. I enjoyed a cup of their eggplant and garlic bisque. Wasn't too hot but it already was hot outside so it didn't bother me too much. Tasted great. I had the steak sandwich and their shoestring fries were delish. Very crispy how I like them. My husband had the grilled chicken and broccoli rabe and was happy with his meal. Also had a mason jar of red sangria, it was huge and refreshing. Restaurants, in my experience, tend to be less crowded during lunch, so on a rainy Saturday afternoon, I met a friend for lunch here. I was correct in assuming that it would not be too busy, as I was the only person in the place when I walked in at 1 o'clock. The decor is rather spartan, and looked more like the bar at the local VFW, but I don't care what a place looks like as long as the food is great. I must comment that it does look much larger than it actually is. It took me about 40 minutes to realize that one of the dining rooms was actually the reflection of the other in a large, wall-length mirror. The bartender was masked, and was happy to let me have a seat at the bar (at least, I assume so since I couldn't see her smile). My friend arrived soon after, and we ordered cocktails (one small disappointment--No Stoli, so I made do with Bombay gin instead of vodka). We were given menus, and, unfortunately, the fantastic entrees they serve weren't available until after five, but we each found a couple of things from the appetizer menu to satisfy us (neither of us are burger people). Food was served quickly, and eaten just as fast. Under other circumstances, we would have spent all afternoon there and had dinner, but we both had other plans for the rest of the day, and we didn't want to tempt fate and find ourselves in the midst of a crowded dining room. I honestly wish I could give 0 stars, frustrated doesn't even begin to cover how we felt with the OWNER of the restaurant. The rest of the staff was quite alright. We threw a baby shower for my sister in law, we had some fluctuations with attendees but finalized at 20. We made sure that was okay when we arrived and they said they would accommodate- which apparently meant only putting a (very small) table up. The food was brought out for approximately 15 minutes and no one was asked if they were done or if they wanted more before everything was taken back (about 6 servers came out and took everything away in about 3 minutes). We had 3 guests who hadn't even eaten yet. When we asked if we could have the boxes of the food so our guests could eat we were then informed that everything had been thrown away. We spoke with the owner who had absolutely no problems yelling at us and charging us full price regardless of the 3 people we had who didn't eat and not being able to take any of the food we paid for home with us - apparently this is a covid concern (which was not a covid concern back in January when we attended another baby shower under different ownership) This woman was so disrespectful to our group and when we asked for a call back when she had the chance to review the security cameras to confirm that no one confirmed we were done with the buffet... we never heard back from her. My parents love this restaurant so I figured for a thank you gift for supporting my fiancé and I with our wedding next week I'd buy them a groupon. I wanted to make sure that if I bought their Groupon offer which was $33 for $60 towards dinner for four people if it would be ok with just my mother and father (2 people) so I called at about 9pm (they close at 1am). Sometimes there are exceptions from the wording of groupons so I wanted to find out. The woman on the phone immediately gave me an attitude. I am losing my voice due to allergies and she thought I said "group home" and laughed at me and almost hung up on me saying "uhm this is a restaurant." I kindly annunciated "Groupon" where she proceeded to say she did not know an answer to that and started screaming to the kitchen staff (assuming because I heard plates clattering). She had no regard for the potential customer on the phone. After about two minutes of her screaming to her coworkers looking for help to answer my question- which mind you I didn't even get a chance to say the question all I said was "I had a question about your Groupon"- she managed to put me on a more professional hold with music. After another minute or two, the same woman picks up asking how she can help- uhm I'm fully aware it's still the same woman don't act like you're someone new. I inquired about the Groupon wording where she replies "I'd have to see what promotions we have on there" so she clearly didn't know what I was talking about. After some time she asked me what the Groupon said and I told her it said $33 for $60 for four people. I asked if it's ok if it's just two people- my parents. She replied no it needs to be 4 people. End of discussion. (She basically hung up on me). Alright well this restaurant lost my business. Completely unprofessional and rude. I enjoyed my experience a lot more than I expected to. The service was great. Went a little slow around the time I was ready to leave but it didn't change my mood from the experience. I ordered a Portobello Burger that was very tasty and filling. Had it with a glass of Moscato which is not the norm (to drink white wine with red meat) but i was in the mood for a sweet wine and it actually tasted great together. The fries was very good too. Normally I don't finish fries with burgers but I did this time. Still having room, I inquired about a dessert menu. Instead of a menu, the server brought out a tray of all of the desserts they offered, which i thought was a very smart move from a business/upselling/server perspective. It's easier to say yes when you visually see the dessert as opposed to reading it in a menu. I ordered the Blueberry White Chocolate Cheesecake which was the recommendation from my server and I have to say, it was AMAZING. It was unnecessarily delicious. YES, UNNECESSARILY DELICIOUS. This was the second time I was there. I gave them a second chance because the first time was not good either. The food is extremely salty. Now it's not just one dish it was everything in the buffet. Also the staff was removing stuff from the tables while everyone was still eating. My Granddaughter is a slow eater and the waitress asked three times if she was through eating so that she could take her plate away.The food was removed from the buffet very quickly without so much as asking if anyone would like seconds. It was like they were in a rush to get us out. There was a late comer to the party that arrived after the food was removed and when asked if they could make him a dish with the food that was removed and they replied no. When asked why we were told that they threw all the remaining food out. That party was not over so why would the food be thrown out or thrown out at all of our was paid for by the woman having the party. Found East Street Eatery on Groupon and it convinced my wife and I to try them out. We went on a Sunday afternoon. We had to enter from the Patio which is around the back because they had a bridal shower going on that day. We were seated at a pub style table for 2. This restaurant requires a reservation. I ended up ordering a burger with bacon, gorgonzola cheese, red onions with a Fuzzy Baby Duck beer that was on tap. The burger was delicious and cooked properly. The bacon wasn't undercookee or overcooked (burnt). My wife loved her choice of meal too. When we got our bill the server informed us that because we use a Groupon coupon, they automatically apply a gratuity to the bill. The amount appeared to be 18%-20% of the original bill. First time I ever heard that. Kind of weird. I normally tip well and always use original bill before coupons but I found it odd that they force the tip on you (not a party of 8+). There were 3 other events taking place in the venue however we were separated from the others and it was easy to get service despite it being so busy. So we asked before sitting in a near empty patio if the had regular food. The girl started to tell us the would serve dinner but not until 5. When she was interrupted by an older lady who appeared to be an owner. She said " do they have reservations?" No hello, no how are you! Then she proceeded to say if we don't have a reservation there is nothing available outside. There were about a dozen empty tables!! She was so rude! Never again will we go back. I hosted a baby shower for my daughter in law at this restaurant after having been to a baby shower there a few months ago. I booked the reservation a few months ago for a brunch buffet. I request 2 times that the manager email me a copy of the menu so I can look at what we were getting and decide if we wanted to add to it. It was a small shower of 20 people. I never received the emails. I never heard another word from the manager until the week before the shower and this was the second request for the menu that i never received. I was to get a call at the beginning of the week of the shower for a final count and received that call less than 24 hours before the shower. The day of the shower I added a couple of people (final count was 15, I asked them if they can accommodate 21 (they said yes) and they added a small table as the room was set for 18. The buffet was placed out and remained out for about 35 min. I had 2 guests that showed up late and I needed to ask that food be bought out for them. The food was taken away without anyone asking if people wanted to go back up for seconds. About 45 min before the party was over a family member (counted in the 21) showed up to eat and help load & transport gifts. When I asked if he can get some of the left over food I was told the food was already "thrown away". I was told that they had a new manager that doesn't allow you to take leftovers home anymore and this change had just been made the week before. I was taken back as the shower we were there for just a few months prior allowed us to take the left over food home. We asked to speak to the Manager (Gina) the same person who never responded to my emails prior to the event. She came out and told us that they don't provide the party's with the left overs anymore. I told her that I had a problem with this as no one notified us of this change. She told me they don't discuss that with customers because they just don't give the left overs anymore because it's a liability for the restaurant if a customer takes leftovers out of the restaurant and leaves them in their car while doing something on the way home and then eats the food and becomes ill it will come back on the restaurant. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. We asked the manager to speak with the owner and she told us she was the owner. She threw the food away, she would not provide any restitution other that credit me for 1 person of the 2 who did not make it. 1 did make it but was denied food when he got there because they threw the food away. When I tell you that we had not even made a dent in this food. The trays were still full showing that the small group of women we had there ate very little so how does one refuse to provide the leftover that I have paid for. I will never return to this restaurant nor will I ever recommend it to anyone else. I would avoid the rude, belittling manager who didn't do her job from day 1 and I should have taken that as my first clue. read more

We go here often and now, for the third time, we've gone on a day when some other event was going on in the 'banquet' room? and the service was extremely slow. We had a table outside and it wasn't that crowded, but it still took almost 2 hours from start to finish. This was lunch time. Ate at a buffet there on Tuesday night. The gentleman who paid for the trays of food asked for to go boxes afterward. They told him they would charge him double if we took the food home. He asked what were they going to do with it and the reply was "take it back into the kitchen to reserve it to someone else"!!! Ordered a tray of chicken, broccoli and penne for Christmas Eve dinner with family. I was given pick up instructions that were not followed by the staff. No one knew what I had ordered or where it was. My husband had to call me to repeat what the manager had told me in order for the staff to find the order. When I went to heat and assemble it to serve, the chicken was missing. Imagine my embarrassment when I had to serve this with the main part of the dish missing! I called them immediately to inform them and was told we were too far away for them to deliver the missing chicken and they'd contact me and refund me on the next business day (Monday.) By Wednesday I had not heard from them so I called regarding the refund and they had to speak to the chef and get back to me. Thursday they called for my card to refund and only gave me $15 back of the $85 cost for that tray. I did not argue with them because after their errors I should not have had to. I'm very disappointed in the handling of the whole issue and will not order from them again nor will I recommend them. read more

I came here for a Wolcott Exchange club meeting and I didn't know what to expect. The food was excellent. I had the chicken piccata with pasta and I got 2 chicken breasts instead of the usual one. I just had the WORSE experience of my life as far as dealing with a business/business owner goes. I booked my daughter's graduation party at ESE a couple of months in advance. I had been a guest on multiple occasions for events and enjoyed the food and scenery, so I chose to book her party at East Street Eatery. I spoke with the owner (in person) about a week prior to her party (to confirm everything, so there would be no surprises). I was told I could not decorate the evening before (which I was told I could do when I initially booked and paid my $250 deposit), but I could come at 7:30am to decorate for her 11am graduation brunch. I arrived at 7:25 this morning and no one was in the building. The business next door phoned the owner and his father arrived 45 minutes later to let us in. I waited outside until 8:15, (when I needed to leave the venue by 8:30 in order to get myself and my two daughters ready for the event). When we walked in... The room was set up entirely WRONG!! The tables were the wrong size and shape, the tablecloths were wrinkled (I had to have my husband bring my iron and ironing board so I could iron them), the napkins were the wrong color, the coffee cups had coffee all along side of them, there were cobwebs in EVERY corner (which I knew in advance because I saw them on my visit, and so I knew to bring cleaning supplies), fingerprints on all of the windows, the floors were FILTHY!! I swept and washed the floors, cleaned the cobwebs, washed the walls, dusted, windexed all by MYSELF.. on top of getting let into the building 45 minutes after I was told I could arrive.... AND this was all done in the dark!!!! The owners father did not know how to turn the lights on.. or the AC, so it was also hot!! It was muggy and gloomy out from the rain. The owners father did not know where the correct tables and linen were, so he did his best to help us. He was very kind and as helpful as he could be. He phoned his son and I spoke with him, shared everything with him, told him about the tables, etc.. he said he would arrive in 45 minutes to give us the correct tables... I needed to leave in 15 minutes (which obviously didn't happen). I waited an hour and a half (well cleaned and set up), he NEVER SHOWED! His father found the tables, but I would not allow him to move them, so I did it myself: I had to move all of the wrong tables out of our party room and then move the correct tables into our room and RESET the tables afterward. A waitress arrived when we were leaving, but everything was already cleaned set up correctly. She was very sweet and helpful. I had less than an hour to get myself and my daughter's ready for our event. THE ICING ON THE CAKE... During our event, I was NEVER greeted by the owner, he never came up to me and personally apologized.. not during or after my party. He did not alter my bill in any way. I asked to speak with him when I received my bill and they said he was not in. That is highly unprofessional. I don't even care about the money, but as a business owner myself, I would NEVER leave someone without a sincere, face to face apology if my services were any less than excellent. I have referred multiple people to ESE and I am really disappointed that I was treated with such little regard. I am sure this post will not deter people from eating there or booking parties, but I feel like it is my right to be heard. I was unable to speak with the owner face to face and so here is what I would have said to him. I'm sure he will read or hear about it.. he probably will not care, but I feel a little better now that I have expressed myself. After the day I had, I deserve to vent. P.s. Held a Bridal Shower event at this beautiful restaurant/golf course. The place was beautiful but the staff communication was absolutely terrible. I stated I wanted the outdoor patio and they were going to put us inside. They stated the tables were round; but they were square and had 2 to 3 of them together. We were told we'd have linen... there was none. We had told them multiple times the wine bottles/brands we wanted; but was still questioned about it when trying to set up. Was told the food would be inside and the door would be propped open for us to get it... the food was outside. Bridal showers are planned for decorating to the brides wants but this venue made it very difficult. I wouldn't get emails back ... when I called, I would never get a call back. Went here last night for my birthday dinner because I had a Groupon. Had to make a reservation (don't know why as they were definitely not busy) anyway we had to wander around for a minute to even find the hostess stand and she wasn't even there. Finally someone seated us but staff is not friendly at all, just very matter of fact and not too attentive. We placed a drink and app order, received our drinks, then waited 20minutes and our server never came back. Finally flagged her down to place our dinner orders and was told the app should be out soon. Really? 20 minutes for fried calamari? Anyway the drinks and all food were very good,hence the 2 stars. The service almost non existent until it was time to cash out, then she was right there of course. So they draw you in with the Groupon then proceed to add a 20% gratuity to your check (only 2people mind you) because you are a "Groupon Customer". I buy a lot of Groupons and have never run into this before so I ask about it and am told that it is just their "policy". HA! It is not in the fine print so no I am not paying that.
