I have since been trained, how to recognize Rémy's behavior and stop it before it happens. We did some private training and he did a Board & Train with Julia. Rémy now is confident in busy settings, is calm on outdoor patios, can pass another dog, person, bicycle, scooter, car, garbage truck, etc. without flipping out. His house manners are excellent and we are practicing every day to maintain them. We also have two 1-year old rotties that are littermates. Talk about out of control. One would be chewing on furniture while the other one was on the other side of the house exploring the trash. Total chaos. Julia came to our house and did some private lerssons with each of them to determine what behaviours needed to be corrected. Enzo, our male, stayed with Julia for 3 weeks and has been an absolute joy to have back home. He listens, does what he is asked (the first time) and walks beautifully on a loose leash. Piper, the smartest of the bunch, is so polished on the walks and so calm. She was one who would cry and whine until she got what she wanted. Not anymore! Julia evaluated each dog and asked what we wanted our pack to look like. She was vigilent with working on their manners and getting then to behave calmly in public. She would post multiple videos on social media while they were with her and sent me the pictures and videos so we could see their progress. She engaged them in play that helps them learn instead of the free-for-all they had at our house. We are living harmoniously once again. We've always had multiple dogs at home. We took them all to puppy kindergarden (if we had them as a puppy) for socialization and then group obedience after that. It wasn't until we had Rémy that we thought about a private trainer. We had several with him. They were all fine but they didn't train me! Julia could tell how afraid I was walking this rottie in public and we took baby steps so we could both gain our confidence. If I could give Julia 10 stars or more, I would. Julia has a special talent and explains the WHY so the human can understand. She's trained in dog behaviours and gets fantastic results. She's responsible for getting all of us back on track to be able to have guests in our home, be able to take a dog or 2 with us to the store, getting me outside on daily walks/hikes and overall having the family dynamic that we didn't think we could have again. Update: I don't always remember to check in when I come here…read morebecause with my two pups it's a whole palaver getting them out/in, but my reviews are consistently five stars! The wonderful Andrea and Toni at reception are such great ambassadors for 4 Paws: always smiling, helpful, and give the true vibe of a well-run and fun place for the dogs. Their bi-weekly "pawties" are such a great day with food and photos, socializing with other dogs while playing, and coming back home all happy and exhausted :) When I go away for more than a couple days I like to call in and ask how my two are doing, because even knowing they're happy and safe my dog mom heart misses them so much. Andrea and Toni will call me if there's anything not routine, for example Mimzy is a little stress bucket so often won't eat the first day: they will assess, add a bit of wet food and everything is all good. On the rare occasion when one of them (Mim usually but Tuck too) may have a loose stool they will call to make sure it's ok to add the wet food or see if there's other options I use at home. The grooming station is visible from the reception so you can watch how the dogs or cats are well taken care of. They have a good selection of toys for sale, doggie biscuits, and some fun cards for all occasions as you come in. 4 Paws is friendly, very well run by the Andrea and Toni team, and the other staff I don't always see as they're 'behind the scene' but I know they too care and love the four-legged guests The ambiance as you enter is either very quiet or as other pups are being dropped off / picked up their furballs and it's a place where laughter and good vibes are plentiful.
