Very disappointing experience. I called this rink twice before driving over, just to make sure it was okay to come for stick time. The person on the phone clearly told me I could skate from 5-6 PM with no issues. After spending over an hour driving and paying for gas, I arrived only to be told that I couldn't join the session without a coach. So not only was my time wasted, but I left completely frustrated. If the staff gave accurate information, this whole situation could've been avoided. Definitely not coming back after this. read more

Came here for a trial class with a few friends. Beware that even though there's a small parking lot, you'll likely have to park down the street and it will be hard getting in and out since there are so many people. The man at the front checking us in was nice. I had a really hard time at first because I didn't know my skates were supposed to be tied super tight, and the instructors I was with were nice, but didn't seem to realize that so my balance was horrible. It wasn't until another instructor who was helping my friend noticed this too and after that I felt so much better. I wish this was noticed in the beginning so that I could make the most of my class time, but glad we had more time after the class to practice skating. We were disappointed to find out there are no skate assists here either. I really wanted to like this place and attend more classes due to the flexibility compared to other rinks, but the parking situation and lack of skate assists is hindering. read more

I really appreciate this business for all the hard work the employees put in. I read many of the 1 star comments and had to laugh. This place is a training facility for athletes and helps build a community for those who are invested in ice sports. This facility has help built Olympic Champions. How fitting, ice palace for the ice Princess/Prince. Back in the 1990's when I began skating, we used facilities like this as a second home. Our parents often dropped us off to get a few hours of alone time, and we built lasting/lifelong relationships. It's too bad that many of these facilities have closed down, because it was a very inexpensive way to have your kids do something active in a climate controlled environment while the parents went off to do errands/work. In many ways, these facilities are WAY cheaper than hiring a nanny. And for that I give it 5 stars. If you don't think it's clean enough for your, then bring some cleaning wipes and help clean it, and pick up the trash on the floor. Keep YOUR facility clean. read more

I don't know where to start... Writing a review is the least I can do to return the kindness every staff member has shown my kids and I. We go to Wednesday afternoon skate lessons and also attended a birthday party here once. 1. The staff are all amazing!!! At check-in everyone is super friendly and greet my kids by name. My daughter started right when she turned 2 and was scared to leave me behind the glass to go skate, but Marina kindly picked her up and "flew" her around the ice. She LOVED it!!! She went from crying to being able to skate all on her own, jump, turn, and even wiggle backwards! I'm super impressed in how patient and hands-on all of the staff are. My kids have loved every skating teacher they've had. My son can be high energy and clumsy but they really know how to get the kids to have fun and be on-task. 2. The development is systematic. I'm a teacher (not an ice skating teacher) so I can recognize that they not only have a good system going for assessing and moving students up and down classes, the teaching is differentiated for different learners and flexible based on staffing and class sizes, and they seem to build on skills the kids already know. Ex: After learning to push and coast, then they can learn to lift a foot up and skate on one leg. (Again, I don't know anything about ice skating, but I know teaching and they seem to be good and caring teachers). I honestly almost gave up on my son considering how much he falls down, and I figured it just wasn't his thing, but we all kept encouraging him and he's surprising me with what he can do now. 3. The facilities are great! I feel like it's cleaner than I expected an ice rink full of sweaty hockey players to be. Haha! No offense to hockey players, I sweat in soccer, too. The birthday party was amazing and the kids all had so much fun skating before and after cake time. What a great way to get the sugar energy out! There's also a TV for kids to watch while they take a break from skating. 4. Tied with Marina for my favorite staff, I never asked his name, but there's an employee who works the skate rentals who always makes my kids and I smile. I think more businesses should employ people who are differently abled. This gentleman is wonderful, does his job so well, and we appreciate his kindness and hard work. I've spoken to other parents during class, and several have told me how they were relieved to come here and see the classes were better than the other ice rink they were going to. I don't have any other experience with this, but I know I love it at East West Ice Palace. Also, pro-tip, if there's no parking in the lot, just park on the street or around the corner. This location does not have a shop. The assistant was nice, but couldn't really give alternative locations. Also, it stinks inside.

It really depends on when you visit to determine what kind of experience you will have. The outside appears much nicer than the inside and don't let it fool you because you're in Cerritos and have high expectations. This place is pretty old looking and skate rentals are beat up. During the holidays it is a mad house filled with a lot of people falling down and very hard to skate on ice since it is not groomed regularly, if at all. I spent 2 hours+ here and no sign of a Zamboni. It's $20 for skating and rentals. read more

I had the opportunity to take a few skating lessons here during this covid pandemic and I feel for the most part the cost of the lessons are fairly priced but since the lessons are for anyone who signs up it can be overwhelming trying to learn several techniques in a 30min period. My daughter and I attended an exhibition on a Saturday where she performed. When we got home from an exhausting day she realized she left her My Melody tissue plushie. Immediately she called the rink and spoke to a woman (who did not want to give her name) who answered in the most snarky tone and with immense attitude if it's here it's here. I then asked her what does that mean and to clarify if the plushie was there she said yes and that as long as she was there the plushie would be there. We were not able to pick up the plushie that day but the very next day, I called to let her know that we were on our way to get the plushie. She then said that it wasn't there and she didn't know where it went and that it was moved? The woman responded to my questions with laughter, speaking over me taking my words and twisting them and then when asked if she or someone could review the footage she paused for a long time and responded with im not sure. She then had me speak to her supervisor who offered me 20 dollars for the plushie without reviewing the camera which while I was on the phone he said that he was reviewing the footage. This experience doesn't speak to the quality of the Artesia rink. We seldom practice at this rink and never have I experienced this treatment. It took me back made me realize that there are people like this. It was seriously appalling to hear her laugh at my daughter who's voice was trembling. I didn't accept the money as it is the principal that they were willing to cover up for this person and that they know.who took the item and instead of righting a wrong they chose to cover up for this person. If I have the chance to speak with the owner I would but they acted like gatekeepers ensuring that nothing would be reconciled. read more

Not too many "firsts" for me in 2018, but ice skating was actually one of them. Kind of weird since I watched my husband play club hockey when we lived in Colorado for a while. So our daughter's Girl Scout troop met for an end-of-the-year meeting at East West Ice Palace on 12/20/18. Family members were invited to partake. My in-laws watched from the bleachers with our youngest daughter who was still on the IR (injured reserve) list per her doctor's orders. First, parking is kind of lame on a late Friday night. Second, this is where Michelle Kwan skated? Third, bring a warm jacket plus gloves and a beanie if you're cold-natured. Fourth, the rental skates ($3 per pair) were disappointing. Wear thick socks. Tie your skates tightly and all the way up if possible and they may still be uncomfortable. Adult admission was $12 per person. If we wouldn't have been waiting for the parking lot to clear out, we would've saved a dollar per person to get group admission with the rest of the Girl Scout parents. Cash or plastic accepted. Good fun in December to make it feel a little more like winter in SoCal. :) read more

It's been MANY years since I've been I've skating and I was looking forward to visiting East West. It was pretty disappointing. It was as if almost everything was done about as poorly as they can be done. I didn't see them disinfect any skates at any time. So, probably, they don't. The blades were dull, as well. I was in early for the public skate and the ice was very grooved up from the start. Maybe their Zamboni is on the fritz? Maybe it's a result of the pandemic, but this place strikes me as either a business struggling to stay afloat or it's just being mismanaged. Either way, it isn't a palace by a long shot. The good news is it wasn't super crowded. That being the case, I don't know if they do breaks for couples skate, kids skate, speed skate, girls skate, boys skate, etc. because there was no need for it. This is a indoor ice skating. It's hella cold but once you're on the rink it gets hot. It's a bit crowded. Price is about right. General admission is $12 and skate rentals are $3, it's a bit cheaper compare to other ice skating rink. My only concern they don't have staff on the ice rink to watch ice skaters if there's injuries happening or etc. Also, they have gym on the second floor. I took my 9-year-old daughter to introduce the first ice skate experience on Jan/2nd Tuesday. The process was fast and had no line. The fee was around $20 per person with a skate rental. My first time at this rink, but my first impression of it was good. The parking lot was a little cramped on a kinda slow night, so I'd hate to see this place during a peak time. The rink itself looks clean. The skate rental area looked organized, there were a decent amount of lockers and benches. They even had a picture posted on the wall to demonstrate just how skates need to be tied. We visited the pro shop for blade sharpening and I was very impressed by their service. They opened the pro shop just to sharpen my blades! How awesome is that?! We usually don't skate out of this rink, but based off of their great service and overall cleanliness of the rink, I wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

Not a bad place to come ice skating- the ice was decent and you can rent figure skating skates or hockey-type skates. The skating arena seems to be standard size. They have a snack bar that sells food you'd expect at a little league game and lockers to put your stuff in. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. Prices were reasonable. To the review that says do not go on a Friday night, I agree if you're not a high schooler or a middle school student. Went here last night at around 730 -8pm and there were so many people in front of the ice palace that we almost left. However, we decided what the hell and went anyway. We couldn't find parking so we parked on one of the side streets. When we got there, the line was pretty long but good on them that it went by pretty quickly. We're in our mid twenties but still felt super old compared to the majority. The price wasn't bad -$13 with skate rentals. The ice skating rink itself was big, but because it was super crowded, it felt stressful to make sure that we don't bump into anyone. There weren't a lot of space to put on your skates, so kinda had to wait for folks to be done. The fun part was actually watching people that were taking lessons, although note to self- if we ever take lessons don't go during Friday night. read more

The things wrong on the website vs what is actually happening at the rink made me write this review. I went there for stick time and with the thought of the ice being open to everyone.. come to find out as I'm walking onto the ice that everyone has taken up space to themselves like it's coaches time.. there wasn't one space I could skate without being in the way of a group practice. Which is not what stick time is for... The online page is also incorrectly advertising price cost for the stick time.. granted it's only $2. But it's incorrect regardless.. Not to mention that the actual schedule doesn't notate what is happening at the stick time and if they are private or not.. Last but not least I went to the person at the front desk he said that there wasn't a private session going on.. so the staff is clueless too.. I had to leave and get a refund because of the terrible communication between the website the attendant, and wondering why things on the site are incorrect.. I honestly was pretty impressed with this place! Check online for their public skating session because the times do vary. So a large group of my friends and I were coming here. Probably close to 20. They have a good rate that with groups of 10 or more is $8/person and $3 for skates. So it's only $11 total. When we got there they said that at least 10 people would have to be under one transaction, however everyone either had cash or card and they were really accommodating and just ended up charging us all separately. The rink itself is a normal decent size. They have lockers there for 50¢ that you can put your items into. However if you need to get something later you need to pay an extra 50¢ so make sure to take out whatever you need for the time being and only open it after your skating session ends. read more

We were there for over 3 hours on a Saturday night, with lots of other ppl, and they only resurfaced once. The ice was pretty bad to skate on...I've been to mall ice rinks where the smoothed out the ice more frequently. There were a large group of kids/teenagers that were just standing around, picking up ice and throwing it at each other, it was very disruptive for the rest of the skaters, and non of their staff did anything. It's kind of dangerous when you have ppl passing by constantly. I'm not sure if this is normal, and I should just expect the environment to be like this. read more

I have to say this complex has improved since the last time I came here many many years back. The place is definitely more up to date than I last recall. The place is clean and well lit. There is an area for little tikes to stretch out and prance around. They have a pretty good selection at the skate store based on my window shopping eye. They have a snack bar and decent music spinning all night long. The only thing that I didn't like was the small parking lot in the front. Thanks to a colleague who gave me a couple complimentary passes to the East West Ice Palace, I decided to take my nieces and sister for an afternoon of skating fun. This was certainly out of our way, but it made for some nice family time during this Memorial weekend. We arrived just as they started the public skating hours on Saturdays (1:00pm-4:45pm) to maximize our time here. Our passes afforded us general admission ($9.00 ea.) and skate rentals ($3.00 ea.) for an afternoon of exercising and to get out of the warm weather. This place was chilling! We surrounded our passes, received a stamp on our hands, and we went through the doors and entered the "igloo". We gave our skate sizes, the skates seemingly appeared out of thin air, and we searched for a spot to put them on. Once on, we placed our items inside a locker ($0.50) and we crept to the opening of the ice rink. After over two hours of ice-skating we'd built up an appetite and started to get tired so it was time we unlaced and returned our skates, emptied the locker, and drove to a nearby restaurant down the street. Service - there wasn't much needed with the exception of the admission/entrance in the lobby and the rental skates pick-up/drop-off counter. A couple staff members skated around the rink as surveillance I imagined. There was also a woman who worked behind the snack counter. Parking - they have their own yet limited and crammed lot which I was fortunate enough to grab the last spot. Otherwise. There was street parking along Artesia Blvd. Overall, I'm all about value and inexpensive entertainment which East West Ice Palace provided all of us, regardless of the complimentary passes. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (total bill was around $48.00 before complimentary passes). However, unless I'm in the area and received comp passes again I doubt I'd go out of my way to visit. Nice size, clean place. Fun to watch the semi-professionals practicing in the center. Cute little girls training, doing spins and such. This establishment is the best kept secret which I am delighted to publish. There are seldom more than 5 members using this state of the art fitness center at any one time. I love the group fitness classes, especially Zumba and Yoga. The BEST part is that the classes are never crowded; there are generally less than 10 members taking the class. They offer FREE 7-day trial membership. Towel services and public ice skating are included. Plus, I get to watch skaters or the games live as I walk on the treadmill.
