It was approaching lunchtime and I was driving up Centennial wondering what I should have for lunch. I love thai food, and saw they do both Chinese and Thai. I eat a lot of Thai and thought I would give it a try. It is takeout and with it bring 11:30 there were no other customers. The food was as ready as fast as you would expect. I ordered the Chicken Basil and it came with a side of rice. The portion was adequate. It was edible. I would not call it above average in any way. I think from now on I will only eat Thai in a place that does only Thai. I am starting to feel like a Chinese cook thinks he can make Thai, but just does not do a great job. First time ordering thru grubhub with very good reviews. People must not know good Chinese food cause this one was really bad. Boneless ribs were all burned. Lo mein was greasy and no flavor. I called to complain because I should and the lady that answered said no manager. That's all she said. I told her about the ribs and she said ok so I said ok bye. That's was the whole conversation. We've been looking for a new Chinese restaurant for a while and stop give East Wok a try. We ordered Hot and Sour soup, Roast Pork Egg Fo Young and the Boneless Pork Ribs combo platter. The portions were good, the food was quite tasty and the prices were decent. They offer delivery or you can pickup. We were pleased to see there was a municipal lot right next door, so pickup was a breeze. We'll definitely be ordering from there again read more

I order from here all the time in cold weather. Their wonton soup is BANANAS! It's by far the best wonton soup I've ever had, even compared to very high end places. Flavorful and fatty broth, soft but not too soft wontons with very savory meat. I order 2 quarts at a time, my boyfriend and I usually finish them within the same day. He thinks there's too high of a wonton to broth ratio but I don't mind. The fortune cookies are also very tasty with a strong but pleasant vanilla flavoring. The delivery guys are always really nice but never obey the directions I leave on the order form to call and not ring the doorbell. The bell drives my dog nuts. Normally this is a mild annoyance, lately it's been really irritating because my dog is recovering from a major surgery and my elderly upstairs neighbor goes to sleep very early. I always tip 20+% but am never given the courtesy of a simple call to let me know that my food has arrived. The pork dumplings are pretty good when fried though very oily. Literally everything else on the menu is disgusting. I've tried a buch of stuff but I've been really unhappy with everything other than the previously mentioned dishes. Their fried dishes are always extremely greasy (as in dripping) and partially if not entirely burnt. I just received an egg roll that was almost black. This would have been a 3 star review but the fact that I've received multiple items that are inedibly burnt on separate occasions is really unacceptable. Any dish that's supposed to be sweet and savory such as general tso's, spare ribs, or rangoons are disgustingly sweet. Meat and broccoli dishes are slimy, lacking flavor, and only include a couple pieces of broccoli. The lo mein is also very wet and slimy. The soup noodles are almost always stale. I'll keep ordering because the wonton soup is good but I really need to learn to take my own advice and stop wasting money trying to find anything else on the menu that's decent. read more

This used to be Chan's Kitchen but the family sold it. We are very glad they did, it has become our go to for Chinese food. You can't beat the online ordering system, fast easy and awesome that a user can view previous orders and get an email confirmation. Have picked food up and also has it delivered, both times they were so courteous and a pleasure. If you are seeking amazing Chinese food go to Chinatown..this is in my humble opinion the best in the area in terms of food quality, price and overall customer satisfaction. Very good coconut rice,Coconut soup is also very good, the teriyaki chicken spring rolls are crispy, crab Rangoon could be improved upon. The chicken and fries is a great value. Dumplings are yummy. I ordered delivery here and we may have ordered too much. I was a little worried since their menu was way too extensive. We had the cheese wontons, which were as I expected. Also, had the boneless spare ribs, which were alright but slightly overcooked to the point of too hard to bite into for me. For the main course, we had the Szechuan meal with chicken, beef, and shrimp. Not spicy at all and I was looking for a good kick. It was just covered in sauce. I mean it was alright. The boyfriend ordered the coconut chicken fried rice, which was alright. A bit on the oily side. One perk was definitely that it arrived way less than the estimated hour. I think we only waited 30 minutes for our food. And there was a lot of it. Maybe next time I'll stick to just the typical Chinese dishes because the Thai / Szechuan was definitely lacking a bit. read more

Prepare your chop stix, young padawan. Great food! I've ordered from here for the past 5 Years now. The General Tsoa's combo platter is a must have. Your choice of fried, steamed or white rice with a beverage choice or soup or egg roll. Plenty of food to choose from and it's freshly made. You can't really go wrong especially when it's fairly priced too. For a quick takeout service that's efficient, affordable and delicious--one could find it here. Worst takeout experience of my life. Their driver doesn't understand a word of English. Had me walking around my building trying to find him. He then calls back (after he hands his phone to a random person on the street) to find out he's in the next town over. If you don't understand or read English, I'm sorry but you should not be doing this job. The instructions were placed very clear in Seamless. Driver impatiently rang the doorbell multiple times until I opened the door like I was inconveniencing him for ordering food. Ordered the hot peanut noodles (was SUPPOSED to be spicy, it wasn't)...it was SUPPOSED to be hot, it wasn't. In fact when it arrived it seemed like I was eating room temperature peanut butter, and it was almost as thick. VERY bland, and no spice to it at all. East Wok's Cuisine is Chinese & Pan-Asian. The food is absolutely delicious ~ the best Chinese food I've had in our area (Union County) and we have tried many places. The food was NOT salty like other places ~ all of us noticed that. We ordered through the website which was a good experience. After you click on each item, a box comes up that says "cooking instructions" and you can type in whatever you want to say, i.e. "no onion" or "steamed, not fried". From when I submitted the order, within a minute or two, the e-mail confirmation came. My husband left right then to go get it (a 5 min drive) and it was almost ready ~ it was finished within 2 minutes of his arrival. It is wonderful for lunch or dinner and they will deliver or you can pick it up. There is one table you can eat at, but I think that the majority of their business is take-out. There is a parking lot right next to East Wok, but also there is on the street parking, of which there were plenty of spots since the other businesses were closed at 6:45pm. FYI - this new business is located where the old Chan's Kitchen was, but is under new ownership. I'm not sure when East Wok actually opened up, so I guessed at September 2012, but it may have been earlier than that. read more

It's almost been a year since my review of this place and I wanted to update it. My family and I have made this our "go to" place for Chinese food in Cranford. We have ordered several times over the past year and they've been very consistent with whatever dish we order. They haven't messed up an order on us yet. This evening we had the wonton soup, shrimp egg rolls, chicken lo mein, and the Singapore Mei Fun. They aren't stingy when it comes to packing in the wontons in the soup. There are plenty of them. The most you will ever see. The egg rolls weren't greasy and very tasty. The lo mein wasn't greasy and had plenty of chicken in it. The Mei Fun was excellent and had the right amount of heat once again. Service is always friendly and the promised time is always accurate. read more

I order from East Wok once a week. I made a mistake ordering tonight.. my own mistake and realized it too late, but decided to call anyway to see if we could fix it. I was told the food already went out. Ok fine.. again it was my mistake. 40 minutes later the food finally comes ( after another call to ask why it's been out for 40 minutes already) and the food I ordered accidentally instead of the food I wanted wasn't even in the bag! I thought great.. maybe they can help me now. I called and the girl ( who was nice, not her fault) said ok.. if you don't mind waiting we'll fix it for you.. and then calls back to say the manager said no. So.. to recap.. I waited over an hour for food I won't eat because it sat in a car for an hour instead of helping me fix a mistake I openly admit I made. Soooooo....Still can't give ZERO or a 1/2 Star huh?....food quality has been declining for weeks, but the wife is traveling and the child wants dumplings....Sooooo Tonight we reached a new low in a series of lows. Decided on East Wok and ordered fried wontons, chicken and spinach dumplings, fried chix wings and shrimp toast. In addition ordered chili oil for the wonton ( mix with malt vinegar for a great dipping sauce for the wontons) Paid by CC and thought things had changed.... Low and Behold the delivery arrives and the driver asks for cash-I explain that I gave a card he then tells me to sign the cash receipt and add the tip[ he is sure they have the card. As Gomer Pyle was famed to declare..SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE...no sauces, no chili oil...no dipping sauce for the dumplings, got a tub of orange "sweet and (supposedly) sour sauce but alas nothing that I asked for. Call them up, they will make it alright, right? WRONGO- instead I am hung up on 5 times then told they are busy and I have the sauce at the bottom of the bag...then they have the stones to ask me to read my CC over the phone again because...wait for it...THEY MISPLACED THE PAPER IT WAS WRITTEN ON...I am told not to worry as I ask for the sauce to be delivered I am told they will take $.50 off the bill for the 2 sauces. Then hung up on again when I protested...5th call I am told it is the drivers fault so I tell them I no longer want the driver to receive the tip I wrote on the receipt and guess what? HUNG UP ON AGAIN...Good Luck when I deny the charge....the food is greasy as all hell, the Shrimp Toast is burnt and their service and professionalism is non existent. Oh dear, the staff (ages 9 and 12, plus mom and dad) on a Sunday morning were so sweet, that I feel sorry not to be able to praise the food more highly. The other enthusiastic reviews lead me to believe that the regulars and reviews at this restaurant don't get to NYC much. To me this is typical, edible, NJ American Chinese fare. We had doughy, thick skinned dumplings, greasy scallion pancakes, mushy chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce, and sesame tofu (turned out to be deep fried, should have expected that). This is our new go to place for take out. I order the Beef Pad Thai, a little dry, not enough tofu or lime sauce even if I ask them every time I order to add extra tofu and sauce. It is still good. Hubby gets the Pork Lo Mein and it's tasty. The General Tso's is the typical over sauced and overly sweet chicken we'd get any where else. The wonton soup, egg rolls and sweet and sour chicken are tasty. The best thing on their menu for me is the Thai Chicken Egg Rolls with basil (2 for $3.75)! They are so tasty and the spicy dipping sauce that comes with them is addictive. I could make a meal out of them alone. The other best tasting dish is the House Special Chow Fun (no scallions or green peppers for me). It is so good, you can't stop eating it and it is a huge portion. FYI: We will never ever order from Hunan Wok again. We have had too many issues every time we order from Hunan Wok and the last time 4 months ago, we found hair in 3 of our dishes from Hunan Wok! I can't ever order from them again. We stopped ordering from 1 Walnut because when we ordered they said, "next time you pay cash, ok?". What? It got annoying after the second time. They accept credit cards, I didn't have cash, the order was $50, well over the $10 minimum. We haven't had any problems with East Wok, and everyone there is so friendly. read more
