I wish I read the reviews before ordering. I have been violently throwing up and have food poisoning after eating here.

Ani Ramen in Cranford, New Jersey is always a hit. I ordered my go-to dish, the short rib ramen…read morewith a six-minute egg, and it was pure deliciousness in every bite. The short rib is consistently tender and flavorful, and the six-minute egg is perfectly soft with just the right amount of richness. The service is always great, and the food comes out quickly--there's never a long wait, which makes the experience even better. The ambiance has a hip, modern Asian flair that adds to the vibe and makes it a fun place to dine. Consistently excellent food, great service, and a cool atmosphere. I'll definitely be back--again and again.

Ani Ramen House's Cranford location is on the corner of Walnut and Chestnut on the ground floor of…read morethe apartments at The Albero. The main entrance is next to the kitchen, which is designed for food delivery and takeout operations. The L-shaped dining room wraps around the kitchen and offers an impressive amount of seating for 80 people with ample natural lighting. The interior decor follows the same rigid industrial wood and metal aesthetic that almost every new hipstery restaurant chain has subscribed to for the past decade. In case you've forgotten that ramen is Japanese, you'll also see neon signs on the walls illuminating some common Japanese phrases (although without furigana). Two gendered restrooms are located left of the kitchen in the far corner of the building and each have two stalls and one sink. I ordered the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen with a side of Chili Charred Brussels for takeout. I placed the order 30 minutes in advance and it was ready at the scheduled pickup time. The Chili Charred Brussels were about five halved sprouts that were steamed and lightly sauteed with a light sprinkling of mustard greens and pepper flakes. I actually enjoyed these more than the ramen I ordered, but they did not have much noticeable charring (or the caramelization that comes with charring). I had a very difficult time enjoying the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen, which is the first item on the ramen menu. The dry ingredients are packaged in the main serving bowl and the broth in a separate plastic takeout container for you to combine yourself. The main attraction of the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen is the three massive slabs of braised pork, which did not disappoint. I tried some of dry ingredients first before drowning them in liquid, although I could not find any bean sprouts. The noodles were slightly undercooked, possibly to compensate for the hot broth. Everything kind of went downhill after I added the shoyu broth. Although the shoyu did impart flavor to the meat and ramen, it was so overwhelmingly salty that it was completely undrinkable by itself. After finishing the noodles, I felt like I was sipping boiled dipping sauce. If chicken broth was in the mix, I certainly couldn't taste it. This is particularly concerning because half of the ramen menu contains this same shoyu tare, and will most likely be too overpowering for most people. In retrospect, I should have ordered the brothless mazemen ramen. The food preparation, while adequate, seemed a bit rushed based on what I ate. Perhaps 30 minutes was not enough lead time for the kitchen, or perhaps this is just how Ani Ramen makes its food. While I appreciate that Ani has helped make ramen more accessible in Central Jersey, it's probably not my first choice for ramen or any of the eclectic side dishes on the menu, e.g. brussels sprouts, kimchi, and gua bao (none of which are Japanese).

I went with a group of 3 and all ordered ramen and the karaage appetizer, but the karaage was just slightly crispy and barely had any flavor, the sauce really saved that dish but definitely would pass on that dish. All 3 ramens were average. The pork cha shu was tender though which was the highlight, but overall broth was pretty standard. Particularly my miso ramen didn't have that much flavor. Service and staff was a bit slow, but food came out pretty fast. Overall not bad, but will probably give this place another go sometime and try some of the other dishes.

I ordered a black garlic ramen and a kids meal (katsu) for my son, they came pretty quickly and they look delicious!! My son's katsu is super hot and crunchy (he said he doesn't want to eat it prior the food come, and ate 1/2 of the chicken!!) that means did you great!!! Rice was a little hard to be honest and corn was ok.. I kinda put them in my ramen.. the black ramen was good.. lots of spinach and thick piece of pork (chasiu).. soup was thick but not too thick!! Noodle was cool perfectly.. only thing is I have to pay to get the egg, but it was cook perfectly!! My son agree since he ate the entire egg.. would definitely come back again.. I wonder if it would get super busy at lunch time since they don't have too many tables (10 maybe), they might be a line out the door.. but 11:30 was a great time!! And parking is just across the street!!

Some free on street parking & a small lot in the back. Ordered take out, so no true word on the staff. Our food was ready when we picked it up. I'd say a touch pricier than I would have liked, especially considering the end. We had the Braised Pork Belly Donbari, Truffle Ramen, & Katsu (Chicken) Cutlet w/Hibachi fried rice add on (not pictured). Overall, everything was just Meh. Nothing was bad, but nothing was particularly good either. The Truffle Ramen had an unpleasant smell, the Katsu was decent, the Hibachi Fried Rice was more like brown rice tather than actual fried rice. The braised pork belly donburi was flavorless. I had to "fix it up" with sauces I had on hand. So, No, we won't be back. The experience while pleasant, was not worth it in the end. While it's not quite on the level of New York City's omakase spots, it's solid for New Jersey and worth a visit if you're in the area. Standout bites for me were the Otoro and Chu Toro- both beautifully fatty and flavorful - as well as the Hamachi with shishito and the scallop topped with crispy garlic. Other highlights included the Madai (seabream), barracuda, striped jack, and a satisfying bone marrow served with toast. I also tried Kumamoto oysters for the first time in years, and they were a lovely surprise-cleaned properly, topped with a light sauce, and incredibly fresh. The Hokkaido uni was creamy, though slightly more briny and bitter than I personally prefer. Mr. Bin himself mentioned that uni flavor can vary depending on the season. Throughout the meal, Mr. Bin was present and helpful, guiding us toward which fish to try. The fish is delivered fresh twice a week, and the quality really does show. That said, it's still missing that little extra something that sets top-tier omakase apart- the purposeful dot of yuzu sauce, the hidden dab of wasabi under the fish, or a crisp garnish that adds dimension and surprise. Some sushi have this, some don't. The technique is good, the fish is fresh, and the experience was enjoyable- I'd return- but it's a notch below the more elevated experiences you can find in the city. Hence 4 stars. Solid though, and friendly. Nice ambiance inside too, Saturday dinner time it filled up quickly so I recommend a reservation.

It's also a nice little spot, there's a lot of seating and they have some cute wall paintings and decor that make it feel nice. We had went after it had just opened, so it was also clean and not busy at all. They have a lot of options to pick from so it's nice to customize it to your likings. My only thing is that I had ordered a bowl and I'm sure that's what I picked, but they ended up giving me a sushi burrito. I was a little disappointed at first, but at least the sushi burrito is really good. It's essentially a jumbo roll of sushi. I really enjoyed mine and each of the individual ingredients tasted really fresh and good. You get a lot with your order so I felt really full. I definitely do want to come again, and I think next time I actually would want to get the burrito.

The restaurant should train their staff to keep the check with them, or have the remote credit card machine. When the customer asked for the check, the staff should be ready to provide in a timely manner. I will still come back, but will be more smart to ask for the check way ahead of time.

But we were just dropping by one of our absolute favorite places to eat in Summit. Summit has a great downtown with many restaurants and let me be brutally honest. Many will disappoint. My experience is a lot of muted flavors. Not too spicy. Some honestly pretty bland. Not so here. We get the ramen fairly often. I get the chefs special or house special? Something special. And it is. My wife gets the vegan one. She gets it with no bamboo shoots. Not a bamboo shoot fan. She would make the perfect panda roommate. They are crazy about them. Her panda roommate would not even need to put his name on them in the fridge. She wouldn't go near them. They wouldn't need to have that awkward conversation where he would say, "I'm pretty sure I had like 3/4 of a container of bamboo shoots yesterday," She hates them. Be careful. I am pretty sure they are not called bamboo shoots on the menu. I think they use the Japanese name for them. And we always get the tofu bao buns because she's pretty vegan. Not orthodox vegan. She might have an egg. Especially here. Add an egg to her ramen. Ramen is terrific. And we've had it delivered as well. Packed really well. Actually maybe not delivered. But take out for sure. We ate in tonight I had the Kimchi pork bao buns. Wow. People will write songs about them. And I had the sticky chicken wings which are only available for dine in. Super crispy super sticky. If people are writing songs about the bao buns they would go to war over these wings. Even a panda would be like Why was I eating sticks? What's wrong with me? These are amazing!
