Parking very difficult. Good service almost too friendly....Tried a taro boba tea. They use powdered taro, not fresh, and you can tell. Flavor very bland...Drink didn't have enough ice, was lukewarm. The boba was good, portion size was good for the money, but I can't give more than 3 stars if they don't use real taro. Guy at counter said he didn't know where to get it. Ask ChatGPT!! We stopped in again for the wok fried noodles with chicken, and the crab Rangoon. Really enjoyed both dishes. The buns I saw behind the case looked really good too, I will try them next time. Have passed this place many times and finally stopped by to try. I ordered their pork and scallion fried dumplings. 1 dozen come to an order, but they are on the small side. Comes with two dipping sauces. They were very good, but at $13 and change with tax, it means each rather small dumpling comes to over a dollar each. Worth a try. read more

I was just walking around the neighborhood and I visited this restaurant, and I have to say... the atmosphere and the workers are such a vibe! Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the pork with scallion pan fry style and the bao chef special fried noodles. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu items. Tasty food with lots of choices for the whole family. We did takeout for 5 items: --Wok Fried Noodles - bouncy and satisfying! --Bao Sampler Platter - Really good, especially with chili oil! This came with different fillings: Pork with Scallion, Chicken with Corn, and Beef with Onion and you can have them steamed or fried. I super recommend getting their add-on of Spicy Minced Pork Chili Oil which really elevates this dish. --Jasmine Boba Tea (customized for my request of zero ice, zero sugar) - pretty good, but the boba was kinda hard. --Crab and Pork Soup Dumplings - Pretty good. These are very likely much better eaten in the restaurant. In general, the filling was slightly too dense and the wrapper was a little too thick compared to the same dish I've had elsewhere. --Bao Chicken - A family fave. This came with 3 pieces of broccoli and was heavy on the chicken which had a light coating and yummy sauce. The portion lasted my kids several meals. Went here yesterday, the place was empty but they did had some orders being picked up by Uber Eats. I ordered the soup dumplings that didn't have any soup, over cooked and dry! Scallion dumpling was ok..the braised beef soup was full of thick noodles and 3 pieces of beef..disappointing..if you happen to go here..ask them first if you can dine in..they will make faces and talk shit about you if you do. I first heard about their location in Hazlet and was excited to see one pop up closer to me. I think I had very high expectations based on the high ratings. I also used to live in Middlesex County so I, maybe unfairly, have high standards for dumplings and bubble tea. For me, though, if your restaurant has dumplings and bubble tea in the name, these items should stand out.  The soup dumplings and beef bao buns were the best things we ordered. The minced pork and chili oil sauce was also very good. I recommend getting a side of that and adding it to your dumplings/noodles. They include 3 different dipping sauces that were great. Two of them were your standard sweet/vinegary brown type sauces, but there was a light one that was fruity with a hint of wasabi- very yummy. The dumpling sampler, beef noodle soup, and fried noodle beef wok were just okay. They definitely lacked in the flavor department. The bubble tea was disappointing. It was pretty watery, lacked flavor, and the boba wasn't cooked well and could have used more sweetener. Overall, this place serves a purpose if you want some dumplings delivered in a pinch, but there are better options out there, and I wouldn't even bother getting the bubble tea. read more

Never had soup dumplings before I tried this place for the first time and I was amazed! They were sooo delicious, really lived up to the hype. We ended up ordering boba tea (I don't remember what flavor, I apologize), but I do remember it was delicious. The cashiers were also really nice and made it easy to order. I will say, however, that the pricing is a bit high for what you get. My partner and I were surprised at our total for what we ordered to take home, but it's worth it if you really love dumplings and bao. read more

This place is a cozy spot with more stuff on the menu than I thought they'd have. I happen to love dumplings, and I'm so happy this place opened so close to home. I ordered pork soup dumplings, the crab and pork soup dumplings, and the dumplings sampler platter. Taking into consideration that dumplings, noodles, and anything doughy are never better for take out vs. eating in-house, these held up for the ride home. The soup dumplings are good. Meat is tender and very flavorful. The dumpling sampler was also good, but I was not crazy about the chicken. The dipping sauces were great. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Super authentic northern Chinese food; dumplings are made to order, the filling is full of juice when served. Really fresh dough and meat. The noodles are very chewy and smooth. I am from Beijing, China and I think their taste is even better than most of the local restaurants in Beijing. Price is reasonable. My only wish is that I feel such great quality food deserve better dinnerware than just one time plastic plates. The Kenilworth store is small and feels more like a take out restaurant which is why I only gave 3 star for atmosphere. But that does not impact the food quality. Service is great. The waiter serves you food, cleans the table, and bring you the containers for packing left over without you even asking. I was excited that an exclusively dumpling-centric restaurant was opening. What we got was uninspired and bad. I wanted to like it, but I simply cannot. From the small portions at high prices to the nickel and diming of "extras", I highly recommend to avoid this restaurant. Save your money, and get a heartier and less taxing meal that actually tastes good. This is flavorless and not worth the risk if you are wanting to try a new experience at a new restaurant. The dumplings are soggy even for being pan fried. The meat is relatively flavorless and not even competitive with places that do not even focus on this specific food. The wonton soup was filled with wonton, which is a good thing, but the wonton themselves are shredded and small, with a meek flavor, so overall bad. I am disappointed and will not be going back and suggest you heed this warning for yourself before you overspend on a poor choice like my family did. If you look forward to a nice meal delivered in on a Friday, choose somewhere else and thank me later. read more

The light citrus sauce was a favorite over the usual brown sauce. My favorite was the hunan beef. The spicy sauce has just the perfect consistency over fresh sautéed beef and vegetables. So good!!! We also tried the mango slush boba and crème brûlée milk tea with coconut jelly. Both were just the way we like them - not too sweet, and the boba was chewy. Delicious buns and dumplings. You can definitely tell it's freshly made. The buns are soft and fluffy and remind me of when I was little and the old Chinese Grandmas would make delicious bao buns. The dumplings boiled with chili sauce were really good. Because the dumplings are fresh, I prefer the boiled version of the dumplings vs. fried. The chili sauce with the boiled dumplings made it even more delicious. My child also loved the tanghulu. I didn't get to try any because my kid ate it all but it looked yummy. Food is not bad...nor is it very good. Overpriced for basically take out fare. Especially for a plate of small bok choy (almost $15 before tax). The soup dumplings were not bad EXCEPT you only had small flimsy plastic spoons with which to eat them. No room on the spoon for sauce or the juice that usually leaks from the dumplings. The food is absolutely amazing, I've had a few items on the menu and they never disappoint. Also I love how large the portions are, always something I look forward to when ordering. There are a large variety of drinks ranging from milk teas, fruit teas, slushes and lemonades. You get to customize the drink to your liking such as the toppings, amount of ice and sugar percentage. The service doesn't disappoint as well, the workers are always nice and try to accommodate the meal your way. They make sure to watch out for allergies of any kind and take extra precautions. Lastly is the ambiance, when you walk in it gives you such warm vibes and to your left is a dine in area. The music is calming the space isn't too cramped but just right! read more
