(I had called around to other shops and had no luck finding what I wanted. ) Went over and manager (Dylan) was super helpful, offered some other options as well but ultimately settled on the boot I was interested in. He even price checked and found they have marked the price wrong which worked in my favor. Dylan suggested I bring my skis in and they would adjust the bindings. I brought the skis in the next day and he personally adjusted and serviced my skis (without any prior appointment). Prices are fair, great customer service, nice local business with decent selection of equipment and clothing...and they sell spas too...check them out! I knew what I was looking for and ended up going back over to the clearance section because the shoe I wanted had sold out and I did not want to order anything. I ended up walking back over to Kaitlyn because she knew what I was looking for. Kaitlyn was so incredibly kind and patient that I did not feel rushed or pressured. She had the best attitude and the best costumer service I've ever seen. Over the years, I've spent thousands of dollars there and referred numerous family members and friends because I believed they stood behind the products they sold. Unfortunately, that trust is gone. I purchased a pair of Clarks on May 9th specifically for an upcoming vacation. After wearing them ONCE to dinner, I realized they were too snug and needed a wider size. I returned to the store June 9th with the original box and receipt, fully intending to exchange them for the exact same shoe in a wider width. The only issue? The soles showed the slightest amount of wear from being worn once. Despite the fact that I was requesting an exchange--not a refund--and despite what I believed was compliance with their stated return policy, I was told the shoes were no longer in "new condition" and could not be exchanged. How exactly are customers supposed to determine whether a shoe is truly comfortable and fits properly without wearing it beyond a few steps in a store? Shoes often feel different after an actual outing. Refusing to exchange a pair that was worn once for a few hours is an unreasonable policy, especially for a retailer that charges premium prices. I have never minded paying more for quality footwear and good customer service, but this experience demonstrated a complete lack of flexibility and customer appreciation. They clearly don't value their customers and don't care about anything other than making that initial sale. There are plenty of other shoe retailers offering the same quality products with much more customer-friendly return and exchange policies. After years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent, I can no longer recommend Alec's Shoes and would caution others to carefully consider their return policy before making a purchase. If you wear the shoes even once to determine whether they actually fit comfortably, don't expect any accommodation if they don't work out. **I was so surprised by the way they handled the situation that I took photos of the exchange to share with this review**

On my way down the stairs, I passed the manager who was extremely polite in telling us he was happy to have us and to have a great night. Very cool considering I spent 30 mins there and was planning on not buying anything, yet. Turns out, the store manager (Dan) is extremely knowledgable beyond my means and has ridden or used almost everything he sells, fact. Long story short, he spends over 2 hours with me and I leave with a completely new setup... Never Summer board (he ordered the right length for me), Rome bindings, a 686 water resistant jacket, INI water resistant boarding pants, and a neck warmer. I spent so much money (by choice, he was not pushy at all), dude hooks me up with a few extras, puts my set up together to my liking, tunes it, and waxes it at no additional charge. This place rocks. It is NOT a discount snow gear store. You pay for what you get, including the service. They carry the brands that actually care about the riders and they personally ride their own gear too prove it. Shop anywhere you want, but make SURE you stop at NOTB in Salem, NH or Burlington, MA before you buy ANYTHING. Seriously.

I have a real love hate relationship with Cookes. At this point I've bought 2 pairs of boots there…read moreand 1 pair of blades. Plus monthly sharpenings. Before they "knew" us, I often felt like they didn't have time for us. I had to have an appointment for a sharpening since they could never squeeze us in. But now that they know us, I feel like they will bend over backwards to service us. My daughter is the skater - she can be on the ice, knick her blade, walk into the shop and they will drop everything to fix it so she can get back on the ice. They are best working with high level skaters. They will work around your practice schedule, but more importantly, your competition schedule. Which is important since, if your lucky, boots will last a year, blades for 2. They work wonders with fittings. They will custom modify boots to fit any shape foot. They offer a 6.25% cash discount. (Now you just need to find an ATM that gives out that much cash!)

You will not get anywhere close to the service las you do at Cooke's skate supply with the chain…read morehockey/skate/sporting goods stores. The employees here are experts. They are incredible and can customize skates to your needs unlike any store in the area. I travel over an hour to Cooke's because of the expertise they provide. Mike customized my son's skate to assist with an issue he was having with his skating form. He worked with us on multiple visits making modifications until his skate was just right for him. Can't say enough about this store. Lifelong customer here, even an hour away.
