I had been wanting to get ski boots for a while but was a little shy as a new skier and had no idea what I was looking for. So lucky to have Caleb help me out. He was super knowledgeable with the in store selection as well as areas to look for. He was so patient and spent about an hour with me finding the exact fit and allowing me to really feel the boot out and making small tweaks to ensure the best fit. He did mention that Proctor does allow you to bring back boots for refitting within the first year. While I hope I won't need to come back for adjustments, makes me more confident in my purchase. She was already helping another group but still sat me down and talked about ski rental options. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. TLDR; the store sold me a pair of ski pants that ripped after one fall and would not let me return them. Edit: I realize that the store does not set the prices, that the manufacturer does. And I'm going to give Obermeyer an earful as well. But still. Work with your customers instead of against them. I've been coming to Proctor for a few years now. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and they helped me pick out a new pair of boots back in 2019. My boyfriend and I just went last weekend and bought a bunch of new gear for the season & got tune-ups, and we easily dropped nearly $1000 at the store in that one visit. I bought a pair of Obermeyer Milan Stretch Ski Pants for $169 and wore them for the first time yesterday. I had a fall/accident on a trail and the pants ripped in the knee. I understand that this is the manufacturers "fault," and technically not the fault of the store. But they sold me an expensive pair of pants that immediately ripped after the first fall, which in my opinion, doesn't look good if you're selling faulty gear for a high price like that, so I was hoping to return them. Ideally I was looking to just exchange them for a new pair, because it was an accident and it's not like I purposely ripped them, so it shouldn't have been an issue, right? Nope. I show up at the store, looking to make the return and I'm told that there is absolutely nothing that they can do because they don't accept "damaged goods" for returns, but that I could try getting in touch with manufacturer or bringing the pants to a tailor. Are you kidding me? First of all, nowhere is this explicitly stated in the return policy at the end of the receipt. I have never been made aware of this "policy" when purchasing anything from them before, which would have been nice to know ahead of time because maybe I wouldn't have bought anything if I knew that I couldn't return my purchases if I "damaged" them. Second of all, while it may be the manufacturer's fault, like I said, the store is okay with charging premium prices for faulty items?? The store doesn't check the quality of their merchandise?? No store credit, nothing??? I got a pair of ski pants from Dicks Sporting Goods years ago for under $100 and they have never ripped on me once, and I've fallen in them a handful of times. And I bet I would've been able to return them if I ripped them on the first try. If the store is selling cheap and defective items at high prices, but won't stand by the product that they sell when it does in fact turn out to be defective, then thanks but no thanks. I can take my business to Dicks, or maybe Zimmerman's. They've lost a loyal customer and any potential recommendations that we could have made to friends and family. read more

Customer service was very nice while purchasing boots. However, I realized they are selling 2021/ 2022 Salomon boots as 2023 boots. Daughter bought same 2021/2022 boots online for $329 and I wanted 2023 so I bought in person at Proctor in Nashua for $499. Realized we got exact same boots, with same box and same model number. Proctor had their own sticker on the box with a 2023 number. I gave the general manager tons of evidence and the opportunity to charge me the right price as I loved the boots. They were not willing to lower the price, and so I had to choose to buy them elsewhere as last years model for the much lower price. Buyer beware - check that you're getting the boot you paid for. read more

Been coming to Proctors for 10 years. The Proctor fam are awesome and really invest in technology and understanding of new technology and skis for every season. We purchased some new skis, bindings and poles for my 13 yr old today. Very pleased with the whole set up; Proctor took my daughters weight, ski ability and listened to her to set her up in her new ski set up! Overall very disappointing experience. Came in to get old bindings swapped on to new skis. The bindings didn't pass their "safety release test", so without my knowledge they just threw out my old bindings after doing so I was offered nothing in compensation. Regardless of the condition of the bindings it is illegal for a company to take it upon themselves to throw away/destroy property that is not theirs and not notify the owner prior. Will never be going here again and will be taking further action. read more

Nice staff, lots of variety in their gear. Place isn't big, but isn't small either. I would recommend going before the season starts so you can get the best gear though, as if you go in December or in the middle of the season all the good stuff will be gone or they will be really busy. My husband and I came here for two pairs of boots, a pair of skis and bindings for me, and a helmet for him. My husband has skied four times before, so instead of buying him a new pair of beginner/intermediate skis, we decided that we would buy a pair of boots for him and have him use my old skis for this season. Ish helped us, and he was wonderful! He was very knowledgable about the inventory. Knowing that we wanted to keep the cost as low as possible while still purchasing good quality equipment that met our needs, he recommended several of last year's models and explained the pros and cons of each of them. We were also glad that he did not try to convince us to buy a new pair of skis for my husband; he was sensitive to our desire to keep the cost down. Yes he's spoiled but... I LOVE TO SKI!! The staff is experienced, helpful, very fun and friendly during this process. Took us a few trips for him to decide what he felt best in comfort wise, along with choosing the correct type of equipment for his style of New England skiing and its conditions. We have shopped at Proctor for years, and spent many $1000s in that time. Stopped in this week and were absolutely aghast at the service. Really, really rude treatment from not one but two of the service staff (a third was fine and clearly felt badly about how the other two were treating us). I cannot remember the last time I was treated this badly in a store - literally yelled at by one sales man for not remembering the exact suffix/acronym for a piece of equipment I haven't used in two years, and badgered by another sales person to the point where when I said "I need to think for a minute" and walked away from him, he followed me and continued arguing with me. Sad to say it, but that's the last time we'll be shopping at Proctor, and I'll be telling my friends about the experience as well. read more

I have skied for 35 years and grew up in the Rocky Mountains. The owner of this store is an expert who takes the time to make sure his customers are properly fitted and happy. He spent a total of three hours on two different occasions helping to get me fitted in the proper boot. So happy that we purchased our gear from a local business.
