My kids that turned 11 two days ago was charged as an adult. He only had a few pieces of veggie sushi, a dumpling and a few green beans. A few months ago I went to JADE BUFFET to eat. I went all the way back to the back wall where next in the back is the festivities room. So i started to eat and suddenly in my back the wall was moving while somebody was slamming things on it in the back and it was loud. And it was like the wall was intermittently pushing me towards the table like beating hard on the wall until was moving forward. I stopped eating and i asked what is going on. They did not answer me but the old Chinese man that's always in the front and the back walking up and down and does not speak English at all made signs to me probably to move and i say i could not because I had many things on the table. And suddenly he started to yell at me in Chinese it looked like he was cursing me for the next few minutes he looked an sounded like a madman. I think he is! Went here around a year or two ago while visiting family up in Upstate NY. Food was mediocre, I'm personally a food fanatic and I love eating food, but I just didn't get much food here. There was just something off on the food, couldn't pinpoint it and still can't today. Service was also mediocre, it was not very busy the day we went and the server we got was very mediocre, she didn't talk much at all. Atmosphere was very pretty, but at the time me and my father were squabbling about drama half the time and we had around 10-12 people there, so not only was chaos happening with us, trying to coordinate where to sit here and there, but the smaller ones weren't listening and it was just a fiasco. Food was alright, but most of the food was cold. Every single time I have ended up sick of some sort from their "food", if you can even call it that. When you eat here, you are guaranteed tons of grease, mystery particles in it, and a taste of regret. It's not really edible in my opinion. Inside and outside are very outdated. I did not really liked this particular Chinese buffet. Selections were not as ample to other places Id been to. It was too crowded when we walked in. They had trouble refilling the bins right away. I have noticed that their sushi buffet intentionally was not replenished. Most of the foods are fried which means greasy. Delivery drivers were creepy as hell on multiple occasions, gave them many chances over the two years to redeem themselves because I tend to be forgiving, unfortunately. It started off with a small gift/tip that I gave to one of the guys to lift their spirit during the beginning of the pandemic, which was a goody bag with money and other cute things in it to show my gratitude for their work, which was something I did for other deliverers from different businesses before and after them. It came to be a mistake since it seemed to be an invitation to overstep customer/professional relationship boundaries-- I was offered rides home, sent personal text messages (nothing entirely inappropriate, just a "Thank you, sweetie" kind of message, which I don't feel is regularly sent to other customers), and my contactless delivery instructions were being most likely intentionally ignored, as well as having a conversation that implied that they knew where I worked and have seen me going back and forth past the restaurant to and from work- the intentions may have been innocent but still creepy and uncomfortable nonetheless... My final straws were when I had them drop off an order at my home after explicitly stating to just drop it off as a contactless delivery because I was not home at that moment (I have to rely on public transportation, so it makes it difficult to stop by the restaurant on the way home from where I was), they ended up calling me for 30 whole minutes, sitting outside of my home, waiting and even called around 10-15 times before I was able to pick up, just to interrogate me on my whereabouts and why I would have my food delivered, that it was "a waste of money", despite me, again, saying that they can drop my food off if I am not home and that its on me if it gets stolen. I kept asking for them to drop the food off for almost 5 minutes over the phone until they decided to. Another time, I ordered, the driver was peeking through a broken part of my blinds to see if I was coming before I answered.. I didn't even have pants on yet seconds before I noticed they were looking into my apartment!! They invited themself into my doorway while I signed off on the receipt and I told them that I had a cat and that the door needed to be closed so she didn't run out, he basically ignored me or possibly misunderstood what I said, and just commented on how big my apartment was before he left. That was also supposed to be a contactless delivery. The food was good quality for the price, but its a shame that I don't feel too safe to eat there anymore... First of all, Jade Buffet in general is not very professional or nice looking inside. I have had bad experiences with Jade Buffet. First bad experience was that I asked for water and received watered down sprite. SPRITE! It was so obvious it was sprite with the bubbles and alot of carbonation. Another bad experience was that i went to was a time that there was absolutely cold fries and soup. It was so disgusting I had to spit it out immediately. Today I went to Jade with high expectations food wasn't terrible BUT.. this guy kept walking back in forth in front of our table (he was bald for description) then he gave us our bill without us asking which was odd but whatever. Then when I was eating my ice cream he literally walked up, tapped on the bill and said "You ok?" I right away was so annoyed and then he proceeded to creepily call me and my SISTER honey. I hit this place up once a year and once a year only and have for the last 7 years. During an annual pilgrimage to Montreal, which is just north of Plattsburgh. Our crew first discovered this place by accident, but now stopping there is just a fun tradition we have, stopping there before we cross the border and hitting the buffet hard. While I'm not a local, given it's location in the town that it's in, it is probably pretty popular, and had to make adjustments to its menu to keep locals coming in. It's a pretty average Chinese buffet, most things are fried and covered with a sauce of some sort and called "Chinese". But if you are going to a buffet, you want quantity over quality. But there's a lot of fried fare and there's enough things that involves bacon, so you're good. Also, if you are hitting up a buffet for outstanding food, well who is the fool in this scenario? They're also pretty loose with the idea of what Chinese food is - fried chicken, a sushi bar (Japanese), carving station, and who knew ham lo-mein was a thing?
