My wife and I decided to try Eastern Paradise for a late night dinner on Saturday evening. I must say that the volume level was pretty high at 7 pm when we arrived and were seated next to the entrance to the hibachi room (one party was in there). But our hostesses was very friendly and accommodating. We started with sushi appetizers with my wife choosing the avocado salmon roll and I picked the chefs sampler along with a cup of egg drop soup. All were excellent and the soup was maybe the best I've ever had! For our main dishes my wife picked cashew chicken and I picked red curry chicken at medium heat. Both were not quite up to the appetizers. Her dish was loaded with green peppers (not her favorite) and seemed short of cashews. My curry was very spicy (not really medium) but tasty. I had to add some duck sauce to calm it down to make it easier to handle. All in all we liked Easern Paradise we just have to find a quiet time to enjoy them again. And skip the curry! read more

I've been here twice for sit down ( non hibachi) and both times were wonderful. It's hands down the best Chinese food around. Everything is fresh! The fried rice , crab regoons etc are cooked to order and aren't greasy. The teriyaki is cooked perfectly and the egg rolls are chocked full of filling. The chicken fingers have just the right amount of chicken to breading and are also fresh. Sushi- They offer rice paper in lue of seaweed for the sushi ( which isn't mentioned on their menu). Unfortunately, Eastern Paradise temporarily lost their liquor license which was a bummer for guests I invited for a hibachi dinner for my husband's birthday (Sat. 03/08/25). I will say that when I called 2 weeks ahead to reserve a table, the woman on the phone was super friendly & helpful. The max is 18 people per hibachi table but I wound up having 20 - I called the day before to let them know & they said 'no problem'. Part of me thinks it's because they knew they'd make a good profit off of our group during these hard times. Our reservation was for 6:45 but the hibachi chef did not appear until 7:35. He did the best he could though the chicken, steak & shrimp were all overcooked. I give him a lot of credit cooking on (1) grill for 20 people. read more

While this is a newer establishment I was less then impressed with the internal cleanliness. Lots of scuffs on the booths, cluttered area near the restrooms that you have to walk through to get to them. My go to Chinese place is temp closed so I got take out here. It was pretty good. The ribs were a little dry but a few in the microwave and they were perfect, and a huge serving. I also got king pao chicken which full of chicken and peanuts but I guess needed more spices or heat, I should've asked. Love the water chestnuts though! read more

Food is always good but takeout needs help. Ordered Chinese takeout and said no egg rolls and substitute extra chicken wings. Get home, no chicken wings and 4 egg rolls!! Have done takeout 3 times and each time there has been an issue. I should have opened the bags and double checked, never again! Good food and eat in is the way to go imho! read more

The service was great and the food came out fast. But we were very disappointed in the crab Rangoon, they were stale tasting. But the miso soup and rolls we ordered made up for it. I really loved the sweet potato roll; simple but delicious. Our favorite of the four was definitely the American Dream roll. read more

I moved to Rochester 2 years ago, and ive had this place probably 7 or 8 times since then. Every time it delivers solid Chinese takeout, probably the best ive had in New Hampshire. The Singapore Noodles are excellent, we get them every time. Its always hot and tastes fresh, and they pump it out quick. This has become our go-to. read more

Tartar could have been more diced up. It was just cubed fish. Fried rice was dry and had no flavor. Gyoza was okay. Calamari was alright too. When I went to pick up my order instead of seven different containers for the separate sushi's your business decided to smush all my rolls I ordered into two boxes. Why? The Chinese food is between OK and Good. The management is terrible. For lunch, they say they open at 11:30 -- yet when you arrive at 11:30 they say wait 20 minutes while they mop the floor with bleach-smelling water. This has happened 3 times and they don't care. They also bus the dishes in a bin near the eating tables which is noisy and annoying. The music is bad. Not a friendly place and they don't care. The female waitresses are pleasant. I have to rate this establishment a 2.5. When they first opened their food was awesome, now that its been over a year the quality and portion size went down tremendously. Im deeply saddened by this. Look at my pictures. Still 6 months after this review I have eaten here 3 more times, the first 2 were good, then on a sunday the 3rd time my pad thai is mostly onions, very spicy , what it taste like is too much chili powder. The honey walnut chicken is actually cold by within 10 minutes after receiving it and the tecture tastes very spongy. I feel like have eaten unfresh food that has been sitting around all day. Im deeply saddened , at first this establishment was great, but I cant deal with the fluctuations in the quality of the prepared food anymore. Loved their sushi and clear mushroom soup. I'm excited to go try more than the California and salmon rolls, and I wish I could always have the mushroom soup on hand for when my stomach is feeling sensitive! Their pork fried rice seemed to lack flavor, however. The lo mein was good, average. The waiter was in fast mode, you barely got words out and he was on his way. For some that might not be what you want, obviously I would want someone to be more friendly, but it's understandable why some/most food service workers need to be switched into fast mode. I also have experienced this with other employees when picking up takeout. Ultimately it's a decent place, but don't expect to feel warm and fuzzy in your interactions with employees. read more

Eastern Paradise is a huge restaurant that features a large horse-shoe bar, a hibachi room, a sushi bar, an outside patio and a regular dining area that has both booths and tables. This restaurant is extremely accessible!!! I use a manual wheelchair and its so nice to be able to move around so easily. They have a huge menu! The Hibachi room having its own menu, the rest of the restaurant has fresh made to order sushi, a large Japanese menu, as well as some samplings from all over Asia. I particularly love the sauces they use here. All the sauces are made from scratch and fresh daily. They're delicious! I've had amazing service here too! They have knowledgeable servers that are approachable and work to make sure you have a nice experience. Ample parking right out front, this is a nice place to bring the family. Also super accessible for those utilizing; walkers, canes, wheelchairs and/or strollers. read more

Pretty standard hibachi and sushi. Overall the food was good. From a gluten free standpoint I did not have a great experience. I felt like the staff was not confident in answering allergy questions. The menu was not marked indicating GF dishes and the staff appeared annoyed in answering any questions. If they read this: I was a server for years in college. I know it can be tedious to answer allergy questions. But as someone who has that allergy it is only a fraction of the inconvenience we go through every single day when making food choices. I just want to eat a restaurant and not be so scared that I'll end up being sick after. Also I don't blame the servers. I think if there were a separate menu or they were trained about options then I wouldn't feel like such a bother to them. The food was good (shrimp tempura roll) & beautiful. However, two of the 5 plates we used were chipped, no chopsticks provided. Area near the kitchen to the restrooms was messy / not clean, one employee was sitting on the floor resting. One of two entrance doors did not work. To go boxes were dropped on the floor at the register then put back up for use. In full view of customers without seeming to think anything wrong. Felt somewhat rushed near the end. Place is seeming to be in decline. Take care of these things and any other like it. I like this restaurant but want to be more confident about it. This place had absolutely the best egg foo young I have ever tasted. It wasn't soggy it was actually crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside and tasted absolutely fantastic. Hit or miss. More swinging away and striking out then home runs. Honestly if Eastern Paradise stepped it up, they'd have an amazing restaurant but that little extra effort is missing. Food/Drink. Food is typical Asian (sushi, American/Chinese dishes, hibachi) Drinks are better then average. Cleanliness/Atmosphere. FILTHY!!!! I stop in once or so a month and every time this place keeps getting dirtier and dirtier. Which leaves me wondering, "why do I still come here?" My last visit, they sat us at a hibachi table next to a bunch of dirty dishes that had not been cleared and had been sitting there for god knows how long. I've also noticed carts filled with used dishes, glasses and silver wear that is just sitting there with flies flying around! Just gross and disgusting! My sauce cups were filthy but I didn't get to use them.... more on that in a minute. Service. Again hit or massive miss. My last visit I was sat at a table with two obnoxious drunk regulars. We were seated next to filthy dishes that were not cleaned. Our sauce cups were filthy and we didn't get our soup or salad until our meal was already done cooking, drinks never came out until I went and searched for them myself AND as we sat there with that obnoxious intoxicated couple, several of their friends came who were also drunk and they crammed them in to our table during our meal. So not only was I sitting next to filthy dishes, the table was then over sat so we had zero room to enjoy our meal. The chef quickly cooked the food, never gave us any sauces OH and when we informed them my partner was a strict vegetarian, the chef still cooked their food over the meat juices that was just on the grill!!! Price. Typical for a hibachi/sushi establishment. Two stars for food and price other than that, I do not recommend Eastern Paradise and recommend you go to another restaurant. The last two take out orders have been wrong. Not only wrong but the manager tried to tell me that 95% of the people that order a "boneless" dish get it boneless and the remaining 5% are ok with it. The dish was House Special Duck which the description states "boneless fried" but we got a full boned drumstick drown in some brown awful sauce. When I called the restaurant the young lady said "well if the kitchen messes up, there's nothing I can do. Do you think so thing else should be done?" Told her I wanted to be credited and got the manager which gave me the lame explanation listed above. No offer of a refund or anything to make it right. Never again. Too bad. read more

The food was super salty but the chef and the server was amazing until we were having a great conversation with her and some guy, looked like a owner or manager started yelling for her from from what looked like was the kitchen area. We were visiting the area and happened upon Eastern Paradise. We're always excited to find sushi since there aren't many options in Southern Maine. The restaurant is in a new shopping center with very modern design. We sat in the hibachi area and also ordered from the sushi menu. The ginger salad was very good with a homemade dressing. The steak and chicken were excellent and the shrimp was average. I found it odd that there was an up charge for fried rice. Our server was robotic and didn't clear plates, but did alright otherwise. The tuna pizza was outstanding and I'll return just for that. We ordered another special roll that looked great, but was missing something. My wife likes Moko in Newington better. Overall though, it's a great place for this part if the country. read more

This restaurant was slow at lunch yesterday 5 in are family went for lunch. We all ordered, didn't get everything we ordered, the soups all 5 were cold not just warm but cold! The consistency of the egg drop soup was slimy because it was Not hot. I will never go back, I'm visiting from Lax vegas Nevada and my sister said it's usually better ! But for me it was slow, food just ok, and cold food is a No Go !! read more
