This place used to be one of our favorite places to go for sushi. I spent $50 today for lunch and all of it was uneatable. All of it was bland, the fish tasted old and rubbery. We have gotten some really good meals here before, but not this time! I wont be back :( read more

We got a larger take out order for Mother's Day. Everything was amazing! It all tasted so good and the sushi melted in your mouth. Excellent my husband and I were looking for something else entirely, and happen to see this little hole in the wall so we decided to take a chance. It was probably the best food I've had in 10 years the appetizer it was a tuna tartare, which was incredible. Then I had fried lobster. It was amazing they were like pillows and popped in your mouth when you eat them, the atmosphere itself was wonderful. The waitress is was amazing. The chef was awesome. Tried this place for the first time, heard good things. 1st off I was very pleased that the staff could answer gluten free questions. They seamed knowledgeable and I felt safe to order. Have a great sushi lunch combo deal. Had the miso soup and spicy tuna and California Roll, with GF soy sauce. The BF got the Crab Rangoons. Smelled AMAZING, filling flavor delicious little watery. Generous sashimi and delectable tempura. Those alone are worth going for, but avoid the beef dishes as when we visited the beef was tough, even though the sauce was excellent. Oh wow! Not expecting much, I took my friend here for his birthday. We used to live in Southern California and were used to a much higher level of sushi than we've been able to find here before. Walking in, it didn't look like much, but it was clean, the atmosphere looked nice with the low lighting and soft music, and we were immediately greeted and seated. We started with an appetizer (Chicago style crab rangoons - still not sure what 'Chicago style' means, but holy crap were these overstuffed and delicious!). And again, being big sushi eaters, we thought we'd try the Roll Boat and just go to town on 5 special rolls. Go big or go home, right? And, best to give a new place a fighting chance since we love trying new places. The presentation was spot-on! Great looking sushi, stacked well, with just the right amount of sauces, wasabi, and ginger. First bite was amazing, and each bite kept getting better! There wasn't 1 roll that we didn't like! Honestly, well done for such a small place in an unassuming town like Rochester. I'm so excited to have found this place. This place I have had twice, once as delivery(DoorDash) and once as dine in. Both times it has been great, the fish used for the sashimi seemed to be pretty fresh, wasn't off. They are also accommodating of allergies, and offer gluten free soy sauce. The service was great and the seating comfortable. We were also in and out pretty quickly but we went around 5 on a Saturday, so still pretty early. I would also judge the price as good value, but I am used to California prices on sushi so I might not be the best judge. I plan on returning. read more

I eat here frequently and can honestly say that I have tried the yaki soba, chicken tempura, hibachi chicken and numerous sushi rolls and I have never been disappointed, every dish is fantastic. The crab rangoon is probably the best I have ever had. read more

Bullet point review: -Bartender welcomed us at the table, very friendly -Nice inside, clean brand new look -Hanging lights with little designs -I didn't know a salad and soup were included with my meal, but I got miso since that's what my dining companion got -Salad delicious, not sure what the dressing was, fresh -Miso soup came out very hot; I liked it but it wasn't very tasteful -Japanese soda is sweet, albeit it you have to work for it more than simply twisting a cap; there's instructions on the top -Bit of a language barrier, but less than another Japanese restaurant I went to -My companion got her meal sooner than I did, despite her being cooked while I had just sushi -She was done when mine finally came after asking twice -Chicago-style crab rangoon seems odd for a Japanese restaurant; regardless it was crunchy, full and only a little greasy -Sushi was comparable to another restaurant I went to; don't recall so much of it being rice -Second time I went the service the service was fast but I was also the only one there lol -Lunch special of sushi, soup and a salad for $11 is good -Maybe I'm misunderstanding the menu, but it seems like I get more California rolls than it lists UPDATE: Having been here 3-4 times the service is not great. They'll sit you done without asking if you want a water. They're slow to come around to your table. Great sushi although some of the rolls are on the smallish side. Rainbow roll is exquisite. The vegetables are fresh and well prepared. I would steer clear of the salmon teriyaki as it was mushy and overcooked and tasted like it had been frozen. In fact after having sampled much of the menu I would say to stick with the sushi and vegetable dishes although the shrimp yaki soba is quite good. read more

Stopped in late for a quick meal late on a Wednesday. We were greeted quickly and the drinks and amazing Crab Rangoon came out promptly. I got the Strip Hibachi and everything was delicious. There was even a slightly spicy, creamy sauce for the vegetables. So good! My wife had the Chicken Soba which was also delicious. My dish also came with salad and Miso soup, both really good. Thought we would give this place a second try, we won't ever be back! If you plan on staying there longer then two hours you'll like this place. They have one waitress and one chef, we weren't checked on and we got so tired of waiting we went up to bar three times to ask questions or put in request. The quality of food is so awful, the fish in the rolls looked like minced paste. I had a hair wrapped in my roll and the edamame was undercooked and cold. While seated we saw two other couples get up and leave. This place is just a disaster. When you walk in it's so quiet too, no music, nothing. My children were the life of that place. Anyways if I could I would lower my rating, it's a nice location but I'm surprised they are still in business. read more
